None of their socials have been updated in years, the place there Yelp says the truck is is just an empty church parking lot and their website full of delicious food does not look like it's been touched in years. As I pulled my Baguettaboutit sandwich out of its bag, all I could think of was my old pet shih tzu, Flopsy. Even though he was neutered, every now and then he would get that look in his eye and promptly attach himself to your leg. You'd try to shake him off and he would be super-velcro'ed onto your limb, hanging on for dear life with lust in his doggie heart... But I digress. So yeah, the Baguettaboutit food truck... Baguettaboutit is based out of Chapel Hill so it's not a frequent visitor to Raleigh. I chased it down to Cary Crossroads and stopped in for a quick lunch. The truck looks brand spankin' new, bright royal blue and they have paper bags out front to mark up your order. I ordered up the Jersey Turnpike, sausage with red pepper sauce which took about 5+ minutes. Along with a bag o' chips and drink, we're talking about $8.50 which isn't bad. The Baguettaboutit sandwich is a pretty thing. Flour-dusted baguette with a thick sausage end peeping out (Flopsy!). And it's a tasty lunch, high-quality meat and crusty French bread. The red pepper sauce was creamy and decently flavored. By the time you work your way to the end of the sandwich, we're talking 3 - 4 inches of crusty bread and sauce left over, but still yum. Don't think there were any napkins available at the truck which would help a bit. For a first visit I was definitely impressed, I'll have to work my way through the rest of their baguette specials, six in total. Baguettaboutit puts out a solid sandwich that's perfectly portable and better than what you'd get from a Subway or Quizno, 3.5 stars. So I'm really looking forward to my next visit, if I can just only shake that image of my dog out of my head. Sooo good! Got to go to the early preview today and oh man... I'm excited to try all of the sandwiches! I had the It's Greek Tu Me... it was fantastic. The sausage itself was a chicken spinach sausage and the flavor was amazing. The bread is great for the sandwiches, it isn't quite as hard as a baguette, but that's perfect for the sandwich itself. The sauce was good, not my favorite kind of tzatziki sauce(I'm in love with the thick creamy Med Deli one), but all together the flavors were wonderful. One of the fun parts of the baguette is the end piece, with all the delicious juices from the sausage and the leftover sauce. You get to lick the plate by eating the end piece! The ordering system is awesome, you place your order on the brown bag they will give the sandwich back to you on. The design of the truck itself is fantastic, just really clean and neat looking. Food trucks are evolving and this is definitely one of the next steps in it's evolution! I heard nothing but amazing things about all of the other sandwiches as well. Good spice to the chimichurra sauce, good flavor to the Italian sausages, everything. The idea is ingenious; I talked to one of them about it and he explained how it's based off of the European model. I don't know why I never encountered this idea in Paris, but I love it! The way that they execute the concept is charming and simple in a way that highlights the creations. I love that you label your own brown bag and the baguette fits perfectly in it. I'm a huge baguette snob, so there's no offense whatsoever to these baguettes. They're made in Rhode Island but based in France, so they're pretty legit. The baguette is satisfyingly textured and doughy and crispy for the needs. After all, there's a sausage and sauce in it. It doesn't need to be a standalone baguette. I shared the bratwurst with beer mustard with a friend, but I couldn't eat it. I love bratwursts, and again, no offense to the mustard, but it was incredibly strong. It was Parisian-style mustard, which is commendable, but NOT what I was expecting at all. If you love mustard, you'll love this brat. I will stay away from it. A friend got the NJ turnpike, which I deem quite good. Really, $6.50 for a fun food truck run and a yummy sandwich? I tried this truck at a local food truck festival. I ordered the greek sausage sandwich. This sausage itself was very delicious as well as the sauce. The baguette was just ok. After having baguettes in France, I am picky about them. The bread was not as crisp as I would have liked. I was definitely a fan of this food truck. We stumbled upon it during Downtown Cary's Pimento Cheese Festival. The line was super long and we knew we were in for a treat! They had two pimento cheese specials on their menus but my husband and I went with their buffalo chicken sausage baguette and added the pimento cheese. Let me tell you, it was one of the best things I've had in a while! The chicken sausage was juicy, flavorful, and so delicious. The baguette was warm and fresh and hit the spot. The pimento cheese really added a nice kick to the sandwich overall, but I wish they had packed it in a bit more into the sandwich as a lot of the cheese was just on top of the baguette oozing out. Their menu is very simple and small, with only about 9 "sandwiches" - or baguettes with your choice of a sausage and sauce in the middle of it. I ordered the Nu Jersey Turnpike (sweet chicken sausage + roasted red pepper sauce) and the United Nations (chicken chipotle sausage + chimichurri sauce). The baguettes were very fresh, warm, and soft. With both sandwiches I got, I thought the sausages in the middle had a great balance of flavor with the sauce - the sausages were tasty but not overpowering, and the sauce had a ton of flavor. The Baguettaboutit truck was at Wake Tech's Northern Campus (not sure if this is a regular thing) and I was feeling hungry on the way to my next class. They offered about 6 different baguettes and a couple of sandwiches. I'm not very well versed in food trucks, so my expectations were based on the price, which was $7.50 for one baguette. I ordered the United Nations, and it was ready within 3-4 minutes. It was about 8 inches long however the sausage only filled about 3/4 of the sandwich. This is my only complaint as the food was well cooked. I'm a heavy eater and this filled me up. Nothing life changing, but definitely a great buy for the price. read more

Great food, friendly service, good prices, and waste minimalization all rolled together in a delicious baguette I won't be "forgettinabout" anytime soon! The Baguettaboutit truck was at our bike group's sponsor site last night and I originally had no intention on eating out. Maybe a half pour of beer and then home for leftovers. But then watching everyone enjoy their deliciously little packed sandwiches was just too tempting. They had about 10 choices on the menu as fillings from Italian sausage to bratwurst to chicken to tofurky to pimento cheese (thanks for the vegetarian options guys!) so the decision anxiety was real. But after much internal debate I made a selection and bathed in the post-ride indulgence of crusty bread filled with chicken sausage and guacamole. The sandwich was $7.50, quite reasonable for my dinner. The size seems petite but it's way more filling than it looks. One was plenty for me! Not only that, it came in a compostable paper sack with no unnecessary plastic ware, icing on the cake!! This may be one of the best trucks in the triangle. Tried this truck for the first time today and was REALLY impressed! Super fast and friendly service even though the line was already snaking through a good portion of the parking lot. The truck is really nicely painted, clean and I am pretty sure it was quieter than other food trucks I've gone too. I don't think I've ever had more efficient or charming service from a food truck staffer, wish I had asked her name so I could give her credit! The special today was Kelly's Favorite (hells bells maybe her name was Kelly? Yeah, I'm quick on the uptake), sweet (or hot) Italian sausage with tomato (maybe a marinara?) sauce and a black peppercorn parmesan sauce. I got one of those with the sweet sausage and 1 of the 'It's Greek to Me'. I thought these would be kind of gimmicky with smallish hotdog type sausage and too much bread. Boy was I wrong! I have a serious appetite and I hadn't eaten all day so by 1:00 I was ready to throw down. I thought for sure I would polish off both but I only managed 1/2 of each and split the rest with a friend. The bread is AAAHH-MMAAAYY-ZZIINNG, and that's coming from someone who routinely bakes their own bread and thinks presliced sandwich bread causes people to be possesed by demons. Hateful frozen pizza and slim jim eating demons. Don't be that person: have a Baguettaboutit sandwich and realize what real, authentic and well done bread is supposed to taste like and let the cleansing of the WonderBread Hellbeast begin. The sauces were really well executed, super tasty and perfectly balanced to keep the bread moist enough on the inside to be really pleasing and yet not overwhelm the meaty goodness of the sausage either. Both the sausages...man, you could really tell someone put a lot of thought into making these and sourced some seriously fantastic meat! That kind of product takes time and dedication and it makes a difference. Taste, texture, spices, all fantastic! They were the size a sausage should be, not the 3-inches-even-though-they-say-it's-6-inches disappoinment-fest that most are used too. These sausages are all shower, no grower. (I'm going to get in trouble for that, aren't I? But seriously people, you know what I'm talking about.) They use a playing card system for their orders, you get handed a card and that's what they call when you're order is ready instead of your name. When I got to the front of the line it turned out I got the joker, I found this super amusing, it's almost like they know me. The joker card means you get a free bag of chips, which I never bother with since I'm not a potato chip fan, but I figured what the hell they were free. I got the dill pickle chips and they were great! A totally tasty and addictive revamp of the classic salt and vinegar and I'll be sure to get them again. They also do NOT charge enough for these sandwiches. I have eaten a lot of crappy $7 and $8 and $9 sandwiches from food trucks and delis all around the RTP but for $6.50 each these Bagettaboutit sandwiches are BY FAR the best bang for the buck. I am super happy I got the chance to try out this food truck today and I will for sure be going back whenever they are in my area again! As a Jersey girl, I just had to get the NJ Turnpike, which has "sweet Italian sausage and roasted red pepper sauce" tightly packed inside their typical baguette. Took a bite, and...meh. Hard, stale baguette which was mildly warm, bland sausage, and bland sauce. My tongue was very underwhelmed. The worst part of the experience was how messy and awkward it was to eat the damn thing. Whenever I took a bite, the creamy red pepper sauce would would squirt out of the baguette's hole and splatter over my shirt (as well as the floor). I've heard good things about Baguettaboutit for a while now, and was disappointed that they don't have a Brick and Mortar anymore, but I did learn that they have not just one, but two active food trucks, so you have double the chance of catching up with them! Truck number two stopped by the work place for FTT (Food Truck Thursday). They do make you wait (15-20 m mins. for me) and the reason for that is everything is made to order, so keep that in mind. If the weather is nice I guess it isn't too bad. I went with the 'UBetcha' (named after Sarah Palin?). The baguette had the sausage with spicy beer mustard, and it was indeed spicy, but also very good. I especially like the fresh baked baguette bread, and the sausage was really good sized as well (that's what she...). I would recommend Baguettaboutit for the delicious fresh food, but make sure you have plenty of time to wait. read more

I've been dying to try this truck since I heard about it, and tonight's Food Truck Rodeo was the perfect time to do it. First of all, the truck is GORGEOUS, shiny and new with a flat screen tv to boot. We're entering the big leagues, people. There were a lot of staff there-- maybe 4 or so, and they couldn't have been nicer. Loved 'em. The ordering system is also pretty cool and unique-- it'll be interesting to see if they keep it this way, but they set up a little table by the truck with sharpies and paperbags. Just like the side of a Starbucks cup, you can "check" the square boxes on the paper bag for your order. They have about 6 different sausage baguettes to choose from, plus a create-your-own-option that lets you mix sausages/sauces. Lots of sauce options which I love, and I'm pretty sure they're all homemade. As for the food, we split a United Nations-- chicken sausage with chimmichurri sauce (we asked for them to mix in their habenero hot sauce with it), all wrapped in a soft, warm baguette. Such a delicious concept-- love that the sauce is already soaked into the bread. And they put in the perfect amount of sauce-- enough to add flavor, but no where close to making things soggy. The sausages are brought in from Giacomo's in Greensboro, a pretty well know Italian market, and it was delicious. I'm not really a sausage girl, but I could appreciate how fresh it was. They do have vegetarian options, which I'll try next time, including pimento cheese (which I already know is going to be amazing in that baguette) and tofurky sausage. I also ordered an Italian lime soda, thinking they were going to hand me a bottle of something, but it turns out they also make those to order. So yum. Will be going back, soon! I finally made it to Baguettaboutit and am damn happy I did. Housed in a nice shiny truck, they put out some great sandwiches. I split two with a co-worker and both were great! We tried the "Talking to me"--hot Italian sausage, basil tomato vinaigrette, in a crusty piece of french bread. Excellent! The vinaigrette was a nice and unexpected compliment to the sausage (which could have been a bit spicier.) We also tried the "NJ Turnpike"--sweet Italian sausage, roasted red pepper sauce, in a crusty piece of french bread. In spite of the name bringing back memories of hours and hours of bumper to bumper traffic, I enjoyed it. I have to say that I don't generally get all excited about bread but, these baguettes were excellent. They had just the right combination of a crunchy crust and a soft flavorful center. The sausage was good quality but, I didn't detect much difference between the spicy and the sweet. I think I'll have to try the "South of the Border" next time. How can habenero hellfire sauce possibly be bad? Service was friendly and reasonably quick. I think I'll chase them down again the next time they are nearby... read more

I had my first ever food truck experience with Baguettaboutit at Brewgaloo this past weekend. The truck itself is very pretty with nice colors and design. The system is set up like Which Wich where you get your brown paper bag and check off the sandwich that you want. You can also make your own, you just choose a meat and a sauce and they will put it together. Sandwiches are $6.50 each if I remember correctly, you can also add chips and a drink to this for a total of around $8.50 - $9. Not bad for a large and filling sandwich! Personally, I went for the spicy Italian sausage with some sort of tomato sauce. I can't remember the name of it but all of their six sandwich names are pretty creative. They also had two specials that day including a pimento cheese sandwich that sounded pretty delicious. Josh did one of the make your owns, using a bratwurst and some sort of cheesy pepper sauce. It took less than ten minutes for our two sandwiches to come out. I was surprised to see that the sandwiches come out as a hollowed out baguette stuffed with your sausage and your choice of sauce. They offered pork, chicken and even tofu sausages. The guy working at the cash register was very nice. I had never seen a sandwich presented like this before, so it was a unique concept, and easy to carry around the festival while sampling a variety of beers. The sauce on my sandwich was a nice contrast to the spiciness of the sausage. I was really hungry and ate mine quickly, but they were definitely pretty filling and also very delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again and will keep my eye out for the next time this truck is somewhere near me! read more

I learned of Baguettaboutit while at Fullsteam Brewery. They were the first food truck to pull up. At first, I was a little disappointed by the lack of selection. But then I saw the fresh baguettes and the baguette heaters that I hadn't seen since I was in France in 1998, and I knew that this was going to be a really good sandwich. We chose the U Talking to Me? with the intent of sharing it with the group. But the Hot Italian Sausage and Basil Vinaigrette didn't make it far... I think we devoured each half in 3 bites each. The "It's Greek Tu Me"--chicken sausage and tzatziki stuffed into a fresh baguette--was fantastic, and so big I couldn't finish it. Not sure why it's listed as closed here; I just went to the food truck 20 minutes ago. Anyway, it was ok. It's a sausage stuffed into a baguette with sauce, so definitely a yummy concept. The bread is fine but not amazing. I got the Greek one, with tzatziki sauce and chicken/spinach sausage. I'm disappointed because I asked if the tzatziki sauce was at all spicy, and they told me no...then I said, "Oh, good! I'll get the Greek one, then." I wish they'd told me the sausage had a kick to it. I'm accustomed to most places, when I ask about spiciness, warning me if I'm about to get something spicy. I ended up stuffing some of bulgogi from another truck into the baguette instead of the sausage that came with it. Sad waste. Lately I've been hearing a ton of good things about Baguettaboutit but have been so attached at the hip to another food truck that I just never got around to trying their food. Well, I busted my comfort bubble after admiring the sandwiches on their website (and deciding on 3 to purchase) and ventured out about 17 miles in search of this big blue truck. I am greeted immediately by 2 smiling men on the truck. Now, after a previous off-putting 'spicy attack' at another local food truck I was a little afraid to try their sandwiches. I asked if the chimichurry sauce (on the United Nations sandwich) was spicy. The guy on the truck taking the orders told me that it wasn't too spicy and offered me a sample. Now, we all know that customer service is HUGE in my book. The food can be fantastic but if the service is crappy I won't be returning. This offering of a sample was all I needed to know that they actually cared about their customer base and wanted us to feel comfortable at their truck. This little gesture goes a long way and is the reason why I give them 5 stars instead of 4. Now about the chimichurry sauce. I tried it. It tasted authentic and was tangy yet mild as far as spicy is concerned compared to the other chimichurry sauces I have tried. I went for gold and purchased the United Nations chicken sausage baguette. The sauce perfectly complemented the spicy chipotle chicken sausage. The baguette was toasted perfectly. Not crispy but soft and toasted. All of the other reviews have stated that the sauce sinks down to the bottom of the baguette. Gravity works perfectly in this situation. The sauce does not make the bread soggy by any stretch of the word. It makes it tender. Like biting into a warm gently toasted piece of French bread that has been dipped in a thick warm sauce. Ugh, cannot even find words for it. When I cannot find words for something, you know you've won me over! I chose the Nu Jersey Turnpike sweet Italian sausage baguette. The 'sweet Italian sausage' is exactly what it is. The sausage was a mild sausage, slightly sweet, not spicy and had that 'just off the grill' smoky flavor. This sausage has the kind of smoky taste that lingers in your mouth long after the sandwich is gone. The red pepper sauce was surprisingly but not disappointingly mild. The red pepper complemented the sausage to a T. It was more of a creamy, roasted, milky flavored sauce. Reminded me of something you'd eat on a late summer evening relaxing by the lake. Definitely one I'll be ordering frequently. Now for the 3'rd one. The Imposter. I liked this one. If you are not used to vegetarian meat, you might want to try this. The tofurky itself was the best I've tasted in the fake meat category. I will say that I would much prefer the Cracked Black Pepper Parmesan sauce without the tofurky and with just the baguette. The parmesan sauce has a semi-thick creamy texture with a bit of a tangy parmesan flavor. The black pepper adds the perfect spice to a very mild not so spice enhanced tofurky. I actually ended up taking the last half of the tofurky out and eating the baguette with just the cream sauce. A great vegetarian creation none the less. This was well worth the 17 miles I had to drive to get to this truck and the 17 miles back home. I will definitely be recommending this place to others, while still not turning my back on my go-to food truck (which I stopped by to visit on the way home from Baguettaboutit) :-) read more

Great concept, great sandwich! Fresh baked baguette (they bake their own) cut in half and impaled on a spike (I'm not kidding). Why? To make room for the sausage of course!!! Six types of local NC sausage are served with different kinds of sauce (also made from local items/produce). I chose the "U Talking to Me?" - grilled hot Italian sausage with skin a little crispy placed into a baguette tube filled with fresh tomato vinaigrette - great combo - I do agree with other reviewers that the price point is definitely a bit high at $8 - maybe throw in a bag of chips or a side to better justify the cost. This is definitely a unique and delicious product. Apparently so successful that they have also opened a brick and mortar restaurant in Durham as well. Delicious! The truck came to Duke University West Campus and I knew I had to give it a try. I ordered the Greek baguette with a chicken/spinach sausage and tzatziki sauce for $7.50. The baguette itself was soft and warm, definitely a plus because many of the baguettes I've had threaten to break my teeth when biting. The sausage itself was well-flavored and juicy. Nomzzzzz. Two points of improvement. One, the sauce was not very evenly distributed in the sandwich, with a lot of it at the top of the baguette but almost none at the bottom. Second, the service was kind of slow (it took me 20 minutes from starting to wait in line to actually getting my food) but I did go at a peak time so that may have factored into it. A friend told me about this place and I couldn't wait to try it. Finally got the chance at the Northgate Park Food Truck Rodeo. It was down to South of the Border and United Nations, but as it turned out, they were out of SotB, so my choice was made. Really quick service, probably 2 minute turnaround. My first bite was into a piping hot and juicy chicken sausage with the right amount of spice. I got to the sauce which was sweeter than I expected but delicious (reminded me of tapenade). Yum! Tried the vegetarian option called "Imposter" with tomato-sausage and parmesan sauce, and it satisfied a meat eater like me with freshness and great taste. Concept is deceptively simple, get a fresh baguette, halve it, drill a hole in the middle, (not joking, they DO use thick needle like thingy) and put a sausage with some sauce in it. The bread is fresh, the sausage is local, and the sauce is great tasting---a winning combo! I tried the vegetarian one as I usually avoid pork (sausage casing), and I'm glad I did. The tofu sausage was not meat but had enough flavor of fennel seeds and basil. I really liked the black pepper-n-Parmesan sauce, so much that even the sausage-less end part with bread and sauce only was also too delicious. If you love good bread, you will love it. read more

The bread is delicious!!! And so are the sausages. I hope they expand their already delicious menu. And yay they come onto Duke campus! The baguette is crunchy on the outside and really fluffy and soaked with sauce on the inside. There hasn't been one that I haven't liked although I haven't tried them all. South of the Border is really spicy, and I think that I'm pretty tolerant of spiciness. Each of the baguette sandwiches cost about $7 which is nothing when I pay on food points (Duke's campus food money type of thing), but if I were to pay in cash, I would probably think twice before lining up next to the blue truck every Tuesday. read more

I have sampled their sausage in a half baguette once. They are good and tasty, but be careful they are piping hot (the sausages not the bread). The price point is both a positive and negative for me. On the one hand, all baguettes are the same price and on the other side of the coin.. isn't it a bit much for a glorified hot dog? I realize you have expenses to pay for both the food and the truck itself. The truck uses the same ordering system as Which wich sandwich shops uses. Grab a paper bag, put your order on it, pay, get bag back with order in it. No telling on whether they make their baguettes or buy them, but the sausages come from Greensboro (Giacomo's) which also sells to places like Weaver St. I hope that they will start to offer different menu items.. maybe a chicken based sausage with buffalo and ranch sauces for instance. How about a falafel in a baguette? Perhaps the make your own eliminates that thought.... Wonder if they've thought of trying to get a spot at a sport's venue. read more

One of my rare but good encounters with a food truck that showed up at a farm fall festival. Good timing for a cool day. Nice hot baguette with a Tofurkey susage and parmesean sauce. The sauce was excellent. The susage blew me away. So spicy. I'm a life long vegetarian so I can't tell you if it's like the real thing but my hubby was wowed and polished off my leftovers in seconds! Not that friendly service and there was a pretty long wait time. I like that they source local. Shiny, clean truck was icing on the cake. read more

I ran into this food truck at an event in RTP. It was amazing. I love the idea of sticking the sausage into the baguette. It was so tasty and pretty clean. I also see this truck at some food truck rallies in Durham. It is a great food truck and I hope it never goes out of business. There are so many other options I want to try. read more

Baguettaboutit was at this year's Big Boss Brewery Casktoberfest and it was a great thing that they were. Most of what they offer are sausages stuffed inside a half baguette. Think French/German hotdogs with great flavor. On this night we had the Choripan baguette with chorizo and Chimichurri sauce which was delicious. Many of their ingredients are local and they have a great system of filling out your order on the bag in which you are served your baguette. If you see this truck I'd give it a go! read more

After hearing such great things about Baguettaboutit, I finally got to try its goods during the downtown Raleigh food truck rodeo. I was not disappointed! I ordered the Greek baguette, which consists of chicken spinach sausage and tzatziki sauce. The sausage was juicy and flavorful and the tzatziki had a perfect zest in flavor. My only complaint is that I wish they loaded the baguette with more sauce. Service was fast, as I waited less than five minutes for my order. This was the first food truck I tried and I liked it so much that had planned on returning for another later in the day but by that point, the line had gotten ridiculously long. read more
