This is not a fancy place. I had the beef lemongrass baguette. It was delicious and the bread was fresh baked. The beef was topped with a vegetable slaw and a ton of cilantro. Delicious. My daughter had the soup and baguette which was very good. However the sandwich is where it's at! They had one high chair and a booster for kids. It didn't have a ton of seating but you could do pick up as well. read more

Wow, this place is terrible. Do you know what head cheese is really supposed to be? Apparently this is your place for imitation head cheese.. The ham and head cheese sandwich says it all. This was my first visit to a Vietnamese sandwich shop. The grilled chicken was delicious. The prices are reasonable (~$4.75 per sandwich) and the service was friendly. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon. My only complaint is the lack of high chairs. I think I would have enjoyed my sandwich even more without a squirmy 10 1/2 year old on my lap. read more

I am spending the day at the public library in Corvallis trying to get some work done and I decided lunch was necessary. I decided to try Baguette because it got such good reviews online. The reviews are totally justified...this place was delicious. You go into the restaurant and order at the counter. I ordered the "Wheaties" (which is made with wheat gluten instead of meat). I can't stand cilantro and the chef didn't seem to be bothered at all by my request. The food took probably 5 minutes (if that) to get and it was DELICIOUS. It was a little sweet and a little spicy. The bread has some crunch on the outside and then is squishy-bready-goodness in the middle. The sandwich was a little messy (or perhaps I am just a little messy), so I wouldn't suggest wearing white pants when you go here. I will definitely be returning for another sandwich next time I'm pulling an all-day adventure in the library! read more

The good: -affordable, quick, filling. The not so good: -its a lot of bread. I am a huge fan of the flavors and filling of the sandwiches, obviously though I am not a huge fan of the baguette itself. I was wondering why a Vietnamese place was called Baguette.... and well.... I figured it out. The bread seemed to soak up all the flavor of the sandwich, I really wanted to taste my lemongrass tofu, but I kept tasting bread with a hint of lemongrass:( If your a fan of bready sandwiches I would highly recommend this place, I will probably go back, mostly for the thai iced tea and the fresh spring rolls... things with a little less bread, the menu has some pretty great offerings overall. read more

I had the curry beef sandwich on wheat and a steamed pork bun. The sandwich was amazing and is definitely the best banh mi I have ever had and one of the best sandwiches in general I have had in a very long time. Solid five star sandwich. The steamed pork bun was pretty good but the filling to dough ratio was really off and there was way too much dough and just a tiny filling. I plan to go again and try the steamed buns again in the future and see if they can convince me they deserve 5 stars (I really hope they do). Having moved from Portland where Vietnamese sandwiches are everywhere we were overjoyed to find Baguette. The food is authentic, the service is warm & friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We like to grab a sandwich for dinner and head over to the waterfront just 1/2 block away and savor the mix of vegetables, meat and sauces. Most of the clientele are die-hard sandwich fans, but you do get the occasional Subway/McDonalds type that stands in line curling their lip trying to find something they find "familiar" and "comfortable". The place can get busy, so plan a few minutes to wait.....well worth it! read more

Been here three times since they reopened and it has been good each time. Lived near Little Vietnam in Chicago for many years and I think Baguette does a pretty good job with banh mi. Food is cheap and quick. Service is always friendly. The shumai bahn is really good. Like the shrimp spring rolls...the veggie need work. Just wish they would expand and do Pho, and that they were open a little later. It would be great to be able to go there for a late night banh mi. read more

Wow...I came here for lunch one day with a co-worker who had never tried vietnamese sandwiches. I had it once before when it first opened and wasn't overly pleased with it so this time I wasn't expecting to be impressed, just something palateable. Wow I was in for a surprise! It was DELICIOUS! Having just been in Cali and having the best sandwich ever there, this was a pretty good follow up here in OR. The bread, which REALLY distinguishes most good banh mi from ehh or bad ones, did not let me down. The inside was moist and soft and the outside was lightly crispy. Better than many places in Portland imo. The thai tea is great too! A lot of places put wayyyy to much cream in it but this tea was the perfect balance, and seeing other orders being assembled it was consistent. Grab a banh me, thai tea, and head to the waterfront...well let's just say I am glad I re-discovered this place. Just make sure you speak up and get some sort of confirmation from the ladies assembling the orders when it gets busy! Very tasty food, quickly served, priced very reasonably, and served by friendly people. Clean and tidy too. For this sort of sandwich to work, the bread has to be perfect. Light, crisp on the outside, never tough or doughy. They nail it, as they should since it's the name of the place. I've tried most of the choices, and they are quite good. The mix of flavors is delightful. A satisfying lunch that will fill you up and not leave you wanting a nap. Much better for you than a trip to the fast food place, and about as quick. This is such an incredible place for bahn mi! I love the chicken ginger with jalapenos (and no carrots! They always remember exactly how I like my baguettes!) I've tried almost all of them, but the chicken holds a special place in my heart. I wanted to serve these (from this place) at my wedding reception, unfortunately the place I'm getting married has exclusive in-house catering, that was almost a deal breaker for me. If you've read this far you've pretty much got the full story. But I've been going to Baguette for a few years now, and enjoy the experience. With experience comes routine, and occasionally wisdom. I don't want to damn them for something they might be doing right by, but I just do not eat the meat here anymore. I'm a locavore-inclined person that attempts his best not to eat animal product that is SYSCO-style (I'll save the smug rhetoric, humane, etc). I shouldn't belabor this point especially since its really cheap and relatively quick*. It is certainly a nice joint that people should hit instead of other options. I'm a bread guy, so I'm not so sold on the bread, but to its credit it is hardy (like a baguette should not be) and it soaks up the inevitable juices from what every you choose to order. I'm a huge fan of the Wheat Gluten with jalapenos. You generally have to ask for these. I often think, since the people in there recognize me, they'd just put them on there since I ask everytime. No big deal, but funny. Another slight rub: I've had AMAZING service at this place since I started coming, save for a few times. If family of ANY stripe comes in, they will take your order, then make like 10 sandwiches, then make yours. Its just a weird, flukey think I've encountered that I'm playing off as cultural difference. read more
