Really 3.5 stars. For Jersey its good. The sandwiches are not bad. I had the Viet meatball sandwich, which had a nice spicy kick and was almost as good as the Vietnamese sandwich shops in Chinatown. The pho comes with a good portion size and a lot of noodles! The meat in my combo pho seemed to be mostly cooked brisket and I wasn't the biggest fan of the broth taste, but at least they gave a generous serving of meat. This is more than I can say for most NJ Vietnamese restaurants. The rice dishes others had on other tables seemed pretty good. I'll try them next time. read more

Me and my foodie sister really wanted some Vietnamese food for this chilly New Year's Day. Baguette Delight looked to be pretty interesting and really highly regarded on yelp, so we made the trip to Edison. It's a really small, casual, and quaint little restaurant that you can just drive right by and not notice. For the appetizer we ordered the spring rolls, which were very very good. Nestled inside the delicately thin rice paper was a mixture of fresh veggies, rice noodle, and yummy shrimp. Coupled with the peanut based sauce; it was a pretty awesome spring roll. A really nice fresh start to any meal. I ordered the lemongrass beef Bahn Mi sandwich (#5 on the menu, at the suggestion of the cashier behind the counter) and it was good, but nothing spectacular. The baguette was fresh and had a very nice crunch, the beef and veggies were all fresh, but that zing of southeast Asian flavors (particularly Vietnamese flavors, like lemongrass & lime) just didn't shine through. It was quite telling that I had to keep dipping my Bahn Mi in a mixture I usually reserve for Pho, which is an equal mix of Hoisin sauce and Siracha. My sister's beef brisket Pho (based on a small bowl I tried and in her opinion) was good, but not what I would call great. The broth was nice, all the ingredients were fresh, but everything just seemed a tad muted in flavor compared to other Vietnamese restaurants we've tried. We also each ordered smoothies; me a mango smoothie and her a passion fruit smoothie. We both agreed that the smoothies were very good and refreshing. My past Bahn Mi experiences (mainly from Vietnamese restaurants in Queens and Manhattan; this is when still lived in Queens) were more memorable with vibrant flavors. Had to check out this place after reading all of the reviews on Yelp. From the outside it isn't much, and had I not been paying attention I could have easily driven past it. Small inside with a few tables and a counter by the window for seating. I ordered Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special $5), Bun cha with lemongrass beef ($7) and an avocado milkshake to go. Delicious!! I should have stayed to eat the banh mi, but instead ate half of it on the car ride home because I couldn't wait. Delicious, and great balance of flavors! I was a little hesitant with the avocado milkshake, but happy that I ordered it. My dad and I split the bun cha, which was excellent! Incredibly fresh ingredients, and the lemongrass beef was perfect. He liked it so much that he went the next day! Also, extra star for their customer service. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, and even offered to help carry bags out to another customer's car. Ahhh Baguette Delite... it's kinda the Vietnamese version of your favorite neighborhood deli. You can't expect it to be upscale and a trendy joint but it's a hole-in-the-wall where you can get stellar Vietnamese foods ranging from pho to banh mi sandwiches to vermicelli! I came here once with my parents to get some pho and they weren't terribly impressed but I returned recently to get BBQ pork vermicelli since one of my friends suggested that I try it out. I've had bahn mis from all over the world - nyc, California, vietnam, Munich (was the worst until now). This place by far has the worst bahn mi I've ever had. We got a banh mi, lemongrass beef vermicelli, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The vermicelli and ice coffee was not bad. The bahn mi had very little meat and mostly carrots. The little bit of meat was not very flavorful. The bread was not cut. We got 2 stem ends of peppers. The cilantro was just one long stem with very little leaves. I have been coming here for along time and This place is small hole in the wall place right by Edison high school don't be discouraged by the outside or even the inside the food is super yummy and you can always order out. I have been a consistent customer since their opening many years ago. Their Vietnamese sandwich quality has declined while prices have risen since the Pandemic. For example, my family's favorite is the Lemongrass Beef. Before this year, the lemongrass beef was grilled with a drier texture and a slight smokey flavor. Now, it is very moist (most likely stir-fried or even steamed). Flavor is still good but the texture and taste is different. The amount of meat had decreased. The price of their pho had also risen substantially. Baguette Delite's prices are on par with those at Pho Lua but the quality of the food, the ambiance of the restaurant and the wait service is far inferior. Since there were no dedicated waiters, those at the counter taking the walk-in orders or those in the kitchen filled in but their service was lacking. The wait both for ordering and for getting the bill was long. The overall ambiance was like that of a cafeteria. Paying a tip was an affront to such an inferior experience. Baguette Delite should either reduce their prices and be a mom & pop sandwich & pho shop with self-service. Or, they should up their game and provide a proper dining experience with waiters to justify their higher prices. Pretty yummy banh mi's for $7.98 for each sandwich. We stopped by for lunch on a road trip. We wanted yummy food that was fast to pickup, but also easy to eat in the car, and this place checked all the boxes. It's not too far off the highway, maybe 5-8 minutes after your exit. The bread is soft and easy to eat! It does make a mess in the car bc it crumbles everywhere, but it's worth it! The two most popular sandwiches are the BBQ pork and the lemongrass beef. My friend got the BBQ pork and liked it very much! I got the lemongrass beef and thought the meat was so good! It was fragrant with that citrus undertone from the lemongrass. The pickled veggies and cilantro are great as well, and there are a few jalapeños thrown in there, which I always appreciate for a little extra heat. My other friend got the roasted pork, which FYI is basically chasu. I tried some of it and it was yummy! Takeout was fairly straightforward. The venue is small and parking is a tad difficult as there aren't that many parking spots. The staff is nice and they never messed up any of my orders. This time I ordered the Lemongrass Beef Sandwich, for the first time, to go. Sandwich was overall delicious and well made, although the beef was a bit dry and could use more seasoning though. These are the things we order that are consistently good and also a great value: lemongrass beef sandwich BBQ pork sandwich Combo beef noodle pho Shrimp rolls I also sometimes get the large pork buns that they have out on the table to go. The pho broth is so flavorful, it's addictive. I recommend putting some of the sriracha and fish sauce (might be oyster sauce?) on the lemongrass beef. We also usually byob. What a gem!!! I'm a little bit upset with myself. I work near by and I never knew this great establishment existed =( , but all is good now! I came here yesterday and picked up a grilled chicken banh mi sandwich, which was delicious! The bread was super fresh and crispy. The veggies were amazing. It created the perfect balance and taste with the grilled chicken. This amazing sandwich only costs $5.00! I also picked up a chocolate milk tea and a strawberry milk tea. They had run out of tapioca balls, but I must say my strawberry milk tea was still refreshing and delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his chocolate milk tea as well. I will be coming here from now on to pick up bubble tea. The Fusion Tea down the street as nothing on this place. The staff was very nice and the gentleman behind the counter who helped me out kept apologizing for the tapioca balls after I kept telling him it was okay. Ah, so incredibly grateful I discovered this place. Had shrimp rolls wrapped in rice paper and it was fresh. With the peanut sauce, it was so tasty. When we arrived, I wasn't sure of which Banh Mi to get so I went along with my friends and ordered the BBQ Pork Banh Mi (#10 on their menu) and Pho with brisket beef. The pho is your standard pho from any other Viet place, so I only am reviewing the Banh Mi. BBQ Pork Banh Mi: Oh my goodness. First of all, the toasting on the baguette is ABSOLUTELY pristine. It's soft, warm, and most importantly, crunchy. The BBQ pork is a bit sweet but is nicely married with pickled vegetables that neutralize the sweetness with their acidity. The sandwich itself is a sufficient meal for normal people (I don't have a normally sized portion) and is definitely a steal at only $5 (before tax). This is also a bargain for budget-conscious college student like myself. Although the food is excellent, I was a bit disappointed by the (lack of) decorations and this is where the place loses 1 star. Although well-lit, the exterior is very drab and is not welcoming at all. As for the interior, it had a "supermarket food court vibe" and the tables and chairs looked very cheap. This is hands down the best pho you're going to find for miles. The broth is flavorful but not greasy. The brisket is always tender and the eye round is always thin and fresh. The noodles are cooked just right and they provide you with plenty of toppings. I can honestly say in the many times I've been here over the past two years I've never once had a bad meal. The other menu items are just as delicious. The egg rolls always come out hot and crispy. The vermicelli bun is loaded with meat and lots of fresh toppings. And I almost never leave without bringing home one of their sandwhiches. The bbq pork and bbq tofu are my personal favorites. Don't let the shabby exterior or limited seating fool you. The prices are what amazed me. For the price, the food is great.
