I didn't get to enjoy any food today, because we left before we could even order. When we arrived at the hostess desk nobody was there, but we did see a few servers walk by. Not one of them addressed us. I gave them the benefit of doubt thinking they were quite busy, but there wasn't many patrons seated inside. So I took a couple of menus and took a seat. Again, servers totally ignored us. I have eaten here periodically and the food was pretty good. But after this experience I will never be back. It goes to show you, it really is hard to find good help. I don't care how good the food is anywhere, if the service is terrible as it was today, I will spend my money elsewhere. I will be sharing this experience with all my friends. Good luck Bailey's with the hostess you had working there today. The food was delicious and the staff was wonderfu! We were across the street for a dance competition all weekend. Even though Bailey's didn't know this, they were patient, kind and accomodating despite the insane number of increase in patrons On Fri, Sat, and Sun! Some of our favorites were the reuban, burgers, Whiskey BBQ Short Rib, and the giant nacho appetizer. Housemade chips were yummy. Great all around. Many thanks for a fun time. read more

first experience & very happy. the outer decor is welcoming & barn-like. The bar area was crowded which was immediately a good sign. Since the bar was full, we sat at a booth in the dining room. Our waitress, Amanda was very nice & knowledgable. The bread and oil that they give complimentary was warm, soft & tasty. The drinks were nothing to write home about...my mojito was terrible but the waitress gladly traded it for a different drink. For entrees, we tried the prime rib and the seafood arogosta. Both were worth the semi-high prices. The sauce served on the seafood arogosta was amazing; creamy with a hint of spices and tomatoes. The dessert tray was VERY tempting, but the large servings filled us up too much. We will definitely be back to try more off this extensive menu. read more

Been there many times before and always a pretty good experience. Tonight was terrible. Got 2 plates of the haddock meal, the fish did not taste fresh at all. Notified the waitress who had the manager come over. The "manager" didn't introduce herself by name, took the plates away, came back and said the fish was delivered that morning and said she would comp one of the two plates, no eye contact and couldn't wait to run off. Horrible management and experience. Failed to make it right, her attempt to correct the situation made no sense as both plates of haddock had the same issue. I have been a couple times food is ok it the service is poor it always seems like the hostess is no where to be found and the waiters are at the hostess station and have no clue or don't care about customers as they just pretend no one is there I keep trying but to no avail last time I ordered nachos for my entree and onion soup to start but both things and the bread came out all at once so I ate my soup and the nachos were so cold and congealed I could not eat them lucky for them there's not many choices in the area read more

A group of us had dinner in the courtyard here. We loved the live music, comfortable seating under large umbrellas with lights. The wait staff were exceptionally friendly, quick and competent. Boy, are they lucky nothing else is around. We come on a semi-regular basis (a few times a year), and tonight we were again reminded why we don't come regularly. The food is fine, but the service... sigh. We came tonight because it has a giant outdoor patio. It's a Thursday evening, early June. Not a cloud in the sky, low 70s. Perfect night for dinner on the patio. Walked in just after 7, and were told the patio was closed due to weather. Then, after we pointed out that there wasn't a cloud in the sky, they called the manager over. He then explained that because the restaurant was slow at 5pm, and they didn't think it would get busy, so the sent the server responsible for the patio home. Ok.... so inside we go. Our server then mistook my Pinot Noir for a Pinot Grigio ("oh, is that red?"), gave my son buffalo wings instead if boneless buffalo wings, forgot to ask for no olive on my salad and didn't include a pen when we paid our check. And the whole thing took FOREVER. Shoot me if I suggest this place again. read more

Once a year we try Bailey's hoping for a different outcome. If you are stuck and don't want to drive out of the area- then your stuck with nice atmosphere- and mediocre food. I had the Lasagna and Caesar Salad. The lasagna was bland, lacking fresh ingredients, melted cheese, fresh grated parmesan... I was so disappointed. My husband ordered their special Haddock, Shrimp Pesto entree. He said it tasted great! By why wouldn't an entree come with a side of pasta or rice? Who serves a piece of Haddock by itself? Come on Baileys- time to step it up! Will try again next year. read more

Pretty good experience here. The service was amazing; everyone was very friendly and our waitress was fantastic even though it was quite busy when we came. Martinis were great too. The food was good but didn't blow me away. The chicken/broccoli/Alfredo really could have used some seasoning. Never been to a place where my app came before my drink. Food was mediocre at best, my skinny margarita tasted like straight garbage. When I exchanged my drink for a wine instead the wine selection for whites were quite poor. Left the full glass on the table. The server was super friendly, however, really overwhelmed. Management should have stepped in with her seating so she could manage her section better. Tipped 20% regardless. Won't be back, definitely not worth the money that we spent. read more

I think the food is usually good. Good comfort food. But I find at times the service to just be lacking. They never bring out a soup or salad before the entree. I've gone a bunch of times, asked for my soup or salad before every time, they never come through. Last time I went I asked for a booth but they still sat me at this little square table by the waitress station I hate. As I was being sat, I said "I can't have a booth". She just hesitated and still sat me there. Even tried to make a joke and said "it's like a Half of a booth". There's empty booths though. WTF. Wish I had just walked out. I'm less inclined to go back so I don't take any of there booth space. I'll give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Half for the half booth they sat me at. read more

This place could be such a slam-dunk, in the middle of nowhere with no competition to speak of. However, it's mediocre. Nice staff, friendly, relatively fast service. Overall, the food was bland or overly salted. Warm bread, but obviously frozen and of the packaged variety. Soup seemed to be canned or pre-packaged, SO salty. The menu seems to be more or less pre-packaged, frozed food from say, Sysco (restaurant suppliers) and not too imaginative and def not fresh. They'd do well to cut down on the size of their menu and focus on quality and freshness. I added a star for service, but the food was disappointing. read more

I've been to Bailey's Bar and Grille on two occasions. You'll find the owners there around the clock, and they're very friendly; always willing to talk to the customers. I found out their son hand bakes/cooks the chips himself, which was neat. It seems to be very family involved. Everyone seemed nice, and the interior seems like it came straight out of a magazine...so chic. The food was decent and cheap. I had a salmon burger (I never heard of that before) and it was simple, refreshing, and delicious! Go look, it's worth a try. read more

Since moving to Townsend we have been to Bailey's several times and it has been good to mediocre but local. The last couple of times we visited was to meet and socialize with friends at the lovely lounge area (so that doesn't count). Last night we went for dinner as we had gift certificates that we bought on discount from a radio promotion in the fall. I can sure say that I was pleasantly surprised and give this visit a solid 4.5+ stars. I love new decor and renovations that were made in 2017. Very fresh modern, sheek and comfortable (especially for Townsend, of all places). I never knew this restaurant was named after the movie "Its a Wonderful Life" but you can't miss it now! Very cool. Service was very good.... we had a short wait for it being a Friday night (as this is a very popular place in Townsend). NOTE: It was much longer when we left at 630. Once seated she immediately took our beverage order and brought out fresh bread. I wasn't a fan of the oil. Would rather have the butter :-) As for the food, I ordered the steak tips, baked potato, and vegetable. I had a similar food offering at a similar local restaurant and I can surely say that Bailey's outperformed! This meal also came with a side salad which I was a little bit disappointed in. I didn't care for the heavy Italian dressing and there was no tomatoes. The steak tips were plentiful and excellent... nice flavor and cooked as I ordered them! WOW. The baked potato was very good and the broccoli was amazing with a light seasoning. My son had the Chicken Alfredo dish minus the broccoli (that is my next try with the brocolli of course). He really enjoyed it and I sampled it, and found it to be very tasty. My wife had the lasagna and Caesar salad. She ate everything but I'm not sure she would get that again though. The waitress kept checking in with us and brought us extra bread (hot from the oven) when we requested it. The manager also stopped by to ask how things were. I compare this place to TGI Friday's or similar. It's family owned and operated. Great personalizes among greeter, servers, bartenders, and cooks. It's a local hangout for football, dining, or weekend music. Their food has never disappointed me, and their burgers, oh lord save me from myself--delish! The food is really pretty great, but it seems like its hit or miss on getting a trained server to wait on you. Meals came out right on top of the apps. Drinks took forever and when they arrived they had been sitting so long the ice had almost completely melted. Plates would pile up because no one bussed the table as plates were finished and finally I had to chase the check down because I'm pretty sure the waiter forgot he had a table outside. This would normally be a 1 star review, but the food was so good. I really hope they can train their staff because the food is really good. read more

Great service - great food. This would have been a big miss, if we had gone by the reviews. We were looking for somewhere different for an early supper and arrived around 4:30 on a Friday, were taken immediately by a pleasant hostess. Our Server was Susan, so friendly and efficient. We started with the Chicken vegetable soup - so good. The bread - oh my goodness, warm, with dipping oil so good, we both had the prime rib and it was excellent.
