When I'm craving ice cream Bailiwick market & cafe comes to mind. I love that they make the ice cream here and do seasonal flavors. This day I walked in and smelled delicious homemade waffle cones. They were making them fresh and I was so excited! I ordered a maple pecan and farm girl swirl in that just made waffle cone. I was in heaven!! Both flavors were delicious. The flavors were so inventive and they offer tastes before you order. I cannot say enough good things about the ice cream. If you love ice cream you must go as an added bonus the inside is very cozy and outside seating has beautiful flowers. read more

Stopped by today to try the Homemade Ice Cream. It was decently busy as Friday is Fish Fry day. I ordered a Junior sized Richest Chocolate on a Waffle Cone ($5.40) and it was a hefty serving. My wife ordered a Cappuccino. The Ice Cream was good but overly sweet. The Cappuccino was disappointing, not a properly made Cappuccino by any means- the espresso was bitter and I was charged $1.00 for simple syrup (not flavored) so ($6.50) for a small 8 oz. To add an alternate milk is an additional $1.65 extra !! That's crazy. Very clean establishment, nicely decorated with a country vibe. Would recommend but not for specialty coffees. read more

We just moved to the area and brought some family to Bailiwick. We were very impressed! The building itself and decor are super cute and inviting. We were able to eat outside, plenty of outdoor seating. The food was delicious, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for a fish fry dinner on Fridays but I enjoyed everything else on the menu. Stopped in for lunch at about Noon on a Friday. Place wasn't empty but wasn't packed either. Ordered at the counter and patiently waited....and waited....and waited..... The food must've taken almost 45 minutes to be ready. I had the fish sandwich and the person I was dining with the BLT. My fish was cooked well but small and didn't have enough fries. Didn't feel like it was worth 16 dollars. The BLT was okay per their report, but could've used a little longer toast on the bread. Expensive for what it is and long service times. Not good in my book. The place is great to take pictures for instagram though, which is clearly the aesthetic they are leaning into. This place is like a white woman's paradise. I won't be back but if you're the target demographic, you'll probably love it. read more

This is a really cute, rustic cafe out in Elbridge. They mostly offer breakfast/brunch/lunch, but had some dinner entrees as well. They also have homemade hard ice cream that is delicious. You can shop amongst the local goods while you wait for your food or sit with friends and chat. I tried the quesadilla with sweet potato fries. The whole quesadilla was great, especially the fried chicken on it. The fries were also very good. They had some spicy pickle fries I'll have to try next time. The menu is quite expansive with daily specials. I also had to try their ice cream. I got a scoop of coffee and another of peanut butter buckeye. So so good! They had some other unique flavors as well. The price was very fair for my entire meal and the service was great. I will def be stopping by again! read more

Steak sandwich was good. They also have great ice cream but passed this trip. People are not as friendly as previou trip and reason for 3.5 to 4 stars. Asked a woman behind the counter for a plastic to go cup for my spouses water. The look when she handed me the cup was, like a how dare you ask or bother me look. Back to Bailiwick for another treat and a relaxing break on this beautiful afternoon. This business is a restaurant, coffee and tea shop, ice cream stand and gift shop. They make their own syrups for the coffee and tea, their baked goods are also homemade and their ice cream is homemade too! I had a very tasty tea latte! They steamed strawberry milk and added raspberry tea and lavender syrup.... sweet, fruity and floral! The blueberry coffeecake was large, fresh and delicious. I've been going to Bailiwick for years. The ambience is amazing! There is a ton of seating especially in the warmer weather as they have ample outdoor seating as well. They have a full menu for breakfast to dinner. I love their grilled cheese! The coffee is pretty amazing. I believe it's cafe Kubal coffee. It's rich and deep in flavor. You'll also find some great baked goods, lots of local foods, local artisans, and other gifts you can buy AND ice cream!! They also have a drive through. Wonderful options for breakfast here. They have an espresso machine, brewed coffees, teas etc. a nicely filled pastry case. And multiple hot breakfast options. I got a quiche this day too but sadly it didn't make it to get a picture. The quiche portion is a quite hefty portion and comes with a side salad which is always very fresh and a vinaigrette which is to die for. I also ordered the barn door breakfast sandwich which is very delicious. After you order at the counter, you are given a buzzer for when your food is ready and you can pick it up at the counter. The lady behind the counter told me to let her know if I needed anything else in my coffee. Plenty of seating inside and outside if the weather is on your side. Tons of tiny shops of items for sale. My visit last Thursday to The Baliwick was so below my normal experience I am compelled to give them 1-star, I am a frequent diner there but have been absent for the past three months due to an ortho injury, and they seemed to have declined. This was my first take-out order. I came in around 5PM on a very rainy Thursday, and there was a light crowd with only a few tables occupied, most enjoying their burger & beer special. I ordered my favorite - the vegetable quiche & field green salad to go. I placed my order figuring I'd be in & out shortly as the quiche and salad are pre-made. I stood waiting with a good view of the kitchen to see two men, mostly leaning against the service tables chatting before one plated the quiche platter for another guest who was dining in - and as usual it looked fantastic. The quiche always looks so fresh and the field greens overflow the large plate. After about 13 minutes watching very little activity in the kitchen with the two men who were still leaning and chatting- I asked the women I gave my order to how much longer it would be for my order which prompted her to school me on how kitchens work, telling me the average meal takes 20 minutes to prepare. Because her tone was like she was explaining something to a child instead of an adult - I told her I know all about the workings of a kitchen as I am a certified chef & culinary instructor (retired) with a degree from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. I then told her, in the business we have a saying: "if you can lean- you can clean" and the kitchen staff was basically doing very little and their was 'nothing to prepare' because all they need to do is go to the "reach-in" and grab a pre-made salad container, and put a slice of cold pre-made quiche in a container as I requested it not to be heated. No other customer is waiting for food so what is the delay about? I watched her go to the kitchen window and chat with the cook, and then she came back and said it would still be a few more minutes. After another 5 minutes of watching no activity at all in the kitchen except another employee dumping a bag of fries into the fryer - I finally told her to give me a refund as I had to leave. She then went back to the window and spoke to the head cook again, and a moment later I watched as he put a slice of quiche in the microwave to heat it up - AFTER I said I did not want it heated up - and then put a pre-made container of side salad on a shelf in the window. She bagged it and handed it to me saying : "here's your order." No 'thank you,' or 'sorry for the wait'- just: "here's your order." I got home, hungry, and tired after a 12-hour day and reheated the previously reheated quiche I had asked The Baliwick NOT to heat-up only to find the top of the quiche nearly black from overcooking and the slice much smaller then usual probably due to the too-small container. The field greens were only about half the portion you get dining in, so I felt cheated due to the size- and the quiche tasted like an older piece and was clearly overdone. I understand food prices have risen for restaurants (for me too) which explains why the price of the quiche/salad has increased from $9.99 to $13.99- and I am happy to pay that when I get what I paid for- but this time I didn't. It was so subpar and nearly inedible. (I would have tossed it in the trash had I not been so hungry and so tired) I give a lot of latitude to kitchen staff because I know first-hand what goes into feeding a crowd - but there was no crowd that night and this was a ridiculous, unexpected, negative experience for me and a total fail. It missed the mark big-time and was a waste of my money. So disappointing. Take-out orders should be consistent with dining in orders. The Baliwick does not appear to respond to their reviews, so perhaps they do not care- but for every negative reviewer there are ten others who don't take the time to post and that is how you lose customers. The Baliwick should want to keep customers in this economy- not push them away. read more

I've visited Bailiwick several times over the past several years. You can't miss the big red barn structure with metal sculptures on route 5. There is plenty of parking spots and a lovely outdoor patio and set up for warmer months. The inside is clean, beautiful and lofty. I absolutely love that they sell locally made goods. I always gravitate toward the ceramics and jewelry. I have not ordered food off their menu because when I'm passing bye I'm usually under a time constraint and the wait is usually more than 15 minutes from order to arrival. I've purchased their baked goods several times and they are always delicious, especially the sugar cookies. The most recent visit I decided to order a small cup of Just Got Dumped ice cream. I'm not a huge ice cream lover but holy smokes, this was just about the best ice cream I've ever tasted!! Just got dumped description is: chocolate base with homemade caramel, chocolate covered potato chips & pretzel bits, nut toffee and chocolate cookie crumbles. Love the color change spoon! The only drawback that I would note is that sometimes the service can be cold and/or wait times to be served/noticed can vary quite a bit. If I'm in a huge rush, I might not visit. A more accurate rating would be around a 4.5. The rest of the ice cream flavors looks delicious. I'll definitely come back to make my way through the ice cream menu. read more

Three sandwiches and one was 100% the wrong order. The sandwich I got was supposed to have Swiss cheese and there was none to be found. The "cranberry-orange chutney" had chunks in it that were neither cranberry nor orange (I'm assuming apple by the consistency?) and two pieces were so charred (and black) that had I bit squarely into them I could have EASILY cracked a tooth. Outside of the village of Elbridge (and across from Tessy Plastic) you will see the quaint barn like structure of Bailiwick Market & Cafe. I have been to Bailiwick's on many occasions so I feel I have a good idea of what is consistent at this cafe and market. As you enter you are greeted by a huge open concept. Open wood beams above but the feeling of warmth and comfort from the decorations and such that are placed around the market. To you right as you enter is a beautiful fireplace that when schedule has live music playing in front of it. Tables abound on the right side as well. On the left side you have a counter that serves their very own homemade ice cream! They offer seasonal flavors depending on the time of year! Continuing down the left and center you have the "market". Local and NY state products such as but not limited to hot $& BBQ sauces, eggs, cheeses, clothing, jewelry, coffee mugs and pet toys. Towards the end of the barn you find the cafe. There is usually a small line but it does go really fast. There is a huge menu that is over the counter along with handheld menus as you wait. Once at the counter you are greeted warmly with a smile. The staff are very welcoming and patient as you order and will adjust your order to your liking without hesitation. Once your order is completed and you paid, you will be given a buzzer to take with you while they created your meal. You can meander and shop or find your seat either inside or on their stunning outdoor patio with gazebo. Your buzzer will vibrate when ready and you go up to pick up your food plates on trays. They have a condiments area to stop at as well. The Swiss burger was cooked to my asking at medium. The cheese was melted perfectly but what stuck out the most to me the the taste of the burger. The flame grilled taste definitely put the burger over for me! The soft potato bun was soft but with a slight crisp on the outside and never got soggy. You can never go wrong with fresh cut fries as well. Such a difference then other places that may serve them frozen. The Plank Road BLT was delicious! The tomatoes were fresh along with the lettuce. The bacon was a good thickness, not overly crisp and had a good chew to it. The country potato bread was pressed perfectly so that each bite was the perfect size! I also added a phot from a sandwich I had last December (2021). The Tweedie has Roast Turkey, Swiss cheese, spinach, cranberry-orange chutney panini pressed on wheatberry bread. I remember it being the perfect sandwich for the holiday season! Something unique to Bailiwick Market & Cafe is that it has a drive thru. I do recommend that you order ahead of time and pick it up though the drive-through rather than ordering it at the drive-through. They also offer a points and reward system along with a phone app! This may be a bit of a drive for some being on the boarder of Onondaga and Cayuga County but it's a beautiful drive and well worth your time once you are there. read more

Taking the long way home from Waterloo we saw this place. I had remembered hearing about their home made ice cream so we stopped in. This place was so much more than I expected. The live music was not only awesome but just made the whole experience that much better. The shop was adorable with so many great things to check out. Now I mentioned we stopped for ice cream. But my teenage son saw someone's sandwich and decided he needed to have one and he was starving. Lol. So this turned into dinner, a show, and ice cream to go. He got the Reuben sandwich. It came with sweet pickle chips and potato chips. He also got one of their root beers. He raved about everything. He said it was the best Reuben he's ever had and told me we have to go there again soon. I got the 1/2 Ceaser Salad and added Chicken. It came with their house made Asiago dressing. Omg it was absolutely incredible. If they ever start bottling this dressing I will buy it to bring home. The salad as a whole was amazing and even came with a home made roll. My 1 and ONLY critique about this place is I wish they mixed up the salad with the dressing in the back before plating. It is very difficult to mix this properly without salad spilling out because the bowl was very full. It was a little frustrating but when I finally got there.... dang that was a delicious salad. Now finally onto the ice-cream. They have soft serve, sundaes, and all sorts of great things. They even have cartons to go. The hard ice-cream is home made and wow was it amazing. My son got the plain chocolate because he's boring. He said it was so chocolatey and really really good. I got the Coffee Chip. It was strong coffee with strong chocolate chips and it was perfect. Not only was the flavor awesome but it was creamy and rich and everything ice-cream should be. Atmosphere, check. Food, check. Dessert, check. What about service, hospitality, friendliness? Nancy Hourigan envisioned an ice cream stand across from the Tessy Plastics plant on Route 5 in Elbridge. But, that vision grew into the Bailiwick Market and Cafe, an eclectic 4,000 square-foot restaurant/store that sells local merchandise--free range eggs from Elbridge chickens, Wake Robin Farm cheeses from Jordan or 4 Tin Fish Farm cheese from Conquest. The shop has locally produced pottery, fiber art, soap, candles and scents. Bailiwick means realm of interest; geographical area, and their goal is to create a gathering space for people to connect with others through our shared realm of interest: the beautiful CNY landscape.  The wife and I have been wanting to come here for a while, so looking for lunch yesterday, we figured we'd give it a try. The menu has items on it named for local people or that reflect local history and there's Field of Creams ice cream, the store's brand. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options are available. They have usual offerings you'd see at a cafe, such as deli sandwiches, soups, etc, but also stuff you wouldn't expect to find at a cafe, like a chicken tender basket and even a NY strip steak as a daily special sometimes. The cafe itself is beautiful inside. Huge, barn styled building, all exposed wood inside. It has plenty of tables to sit at and also plenty of local goods for sale to check out. My wife ordered their chicken pot pie and daily soup, which was shrimp and roasted red pepper, while I got their daily sandwich special, which was sliced turkey breast with pesto mayo, red onion, tomato and provolone on wheatberry bread, along with a side of their house cut fries. Their dressings and breads are all house made and most meats are house roasted as well. We were given a little vibrating device to alert us when our food was done. It was made pretty quickly and when we dug in, everything was great. Their fries are absolutely amazing. Some of the best home made ones I've ever had. Perfect size, shape, nice and crispy. My sandwich was great too, the pesto mayo was very flavorful, but I think I would've enjoyed it more had it been a hot sandwich. My wife LOVED the shrimp and red pepper soup and said her pot pie was great too. My wife got a big waffle cone of ice cream after, and I got a peach milkshake, made with their own peaches. Bailiwick is owned by a farm, so most of the fruits and veggies come directly from the farm. They also have a rewards program with coupons and rewards on anniversaries and birthdays. Everything is amazing about this place! The food, soups and pastries are all fresh. The sandwiches are huge made on their fresh made bread. Why am I only finding out about this place? The ambience is so inviting with it open ceiling inside fresh wood. It's just so comfortable it's almost like being at Grandmas house, filled with love and kindness. From the second I walked in people were coming up to my son and I and letting us know about all the events taking place and activities.
