We came here for the cute Halloween event they had here. They had a fun cute trail for the kids to explore with pumpkins made by kids. We were able to add our own to the mix! They had a small area for photos and a small maze for the little ones. Some pictures to put your head through to take some cute pictures. Everything was very nice and clean. I didn't make it inside the shop but will definitely come back again to check out some more. read more

A lovely and fun place to visit! We went for the first time during Covid, specifically for their annual pumpkin walk, so pleased to see that customers (and staff) were thoughtful, careful and respectful in maintaining a minimum six feet distance from others, wearing masks, and being so friendly. The pumpkin walk led us along a small path through a wooded area just behind the parking lot, where over 250 pumpkins were painted/decorated in a variety of themes and displayed for us to enjoy on our meandering walk. We were allowed to take photos and others coming through patiently gave us the space to do so. The staff we briefly interacted with were friendly and so excited to see us all decked out in costumes for this Halloween-inspired walk. They decorated the plants, trees and gourds around the nursery, making for a fun experience all around. read more

Went for Father's Day for a bonsai tree. Was not greeted nor treated very kindly while shopping. I'm inexperienced with plants and hoped a local nursery would help. Well, I was sold an aphid infested overpriced sickly tree. I have since bought trees from other nurseries and found that I can get double the size and health for half the price anywhere else. Partly my fault for not researching more but I had planned on having the nursery as a learning partner. Now, I will shop anywhere but there. read more

Sales associates working in the garden are friendly and helpful. However, some of the plants were in rough shape and I was surprised to see that they were still charging full price for a half dead plant. The sales associates at cash wrap/gift shop were not friendly. The one who rang me up seemed annoyed and irritated that I was shopping and browsing. When asked if I was part of their rewards program I told them "no" and then they didn't offer to explain the program or sign me up. I had to ask them about it and they begrudgingly informed me of the program and signed me up. I've worked in customer service for over 8 years and I was appalled by their attitude and lack of engagement. At the very least you should try and make your customers feel welcomed, they are paying your wages, without them you are out of a job. Unfortunately, Bainbridge Gardens was an all too familiar experience with most businesses on the island, a snooty attitude and almost making it seem like the customers are beneath the people shopping in their stores because it's an establishment on the island. It's this type of attitude that drives people to shop at big box stores. read more

I've seen other "OMG!" reviews so I guess I'll try to avoid saying OMG! I've gone to this place for plants and garden supplies for years. I so greatly miss Junkoh, a great and wonderful man, living history -- history both good and bad. For plants they have the greatest choices, both regular plants to fill up a garden, and very special rarities that cost more but won't find them elsewhere. A good shade garden selection. Trees and shrubs amazing. Rock garden succulents and ground covers galore. Can't say enough about plant choices. But this place is so much more. There's a woodland path very wild and beautiful, worth going just for the walk. And a children's play area which is just the sweetest little park in itself, next to a very quiet place with oddly trained evergreens planted by Junkoh's dad from way before the war. I mean if there was nothing to buy in this place, if it was just a park for family picnics, it would be one of the best that exists. They also have a thrilling little restaurant and coffeehouse on the grounds, with amazing soups and sandwiches. It looks at first glance like a coffee stand that couldn't be anything special, but this food is better than in just about every restaurant in a twenty mile radius. The soups are spectacular recipes. The little pizzas are made in a small open fire brick oven. Again, if this place weren't the best garden center, and the best family park, it'd be worth the trip for soup and sandwich. Plus an extensive gift shop, huge supply of flower pots fancy to basic. I know I'm leaving something out, but I promise, this is worth driving from very far away to get to, I've encountered people Up From Portland for their garden needs. This is the kind of business that just having it nearby enriches the entire community. read more

OMG...Plant & garden heaven!!! Top of the line garden art, pots, sculpture as well as everything artistically displayed. Unusual hard to find plants and seeds. It was great to spend hours here checking out the different gardens. I love the little trails you can meander down. Staff here is not only knowledgeable, but so helpful to me for the area where I live! Worth traveling over there via ferry and definitely one of my favorite nurseries!! The herb selection is phenomenal. The memorial garden exquisite. Can't wait to go back. Had coffee at the Rose Cafe while there. So nice to sit and relax. They have events and some awesome classes too. read more

The first time I drove by Bainbridge Gardens, I knew immediately that my husband could never be trusted there alone. I'm not even sure why I told him about it. As I expected, he found something he "absolutely needed" (but totally didn't). Bainbridge Gardens has an impressive selection of plants/trees/sundries. They have better prices than Swansons in Seattle and a greater selection than the Home Depot in Poulsbo. We'll be back for sure! read more

Quickly becoming my favorite nursery. Great selection of healthy plants, reasonable prices and very helpful staff. They are patient with my questions and if he / she does not know the answer, another person who might know is asked. There is no BS here. Well, actually there is BS in the top soil - compost area but that is another story. They have a couple of different events over the course of the month (most free) where you speak to master gardeners or product specialists. Even if you are not in need of a plant this is a good place to just look around as they have trails and different themes throughout the property. read more

I admit that all the reviews of the variety and beauty of the gardens are absolutely true. I rated them three stars because of the exorbitant prices of their stock. The pricing, I assume, is due to the location. I was looking for indoor plants and a desk top fountain. I couldn't find a fountain less than $250. I found similar fountains online for less than $100. All the larger indoor plants were well over $100. Disappointed, I ended up getting what I needed at a much more reasonable price online and at Bremerton Nursery. I would return to visit the garden but not to buy. read more

Love this place! I've been coming here for over 25 years! They always have the best selection of all types of plants. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable & helpful! Last week I stopped by & Alex showed me all sorts of options for a full shade spot that were deer resistant. Yesterday a friend & I pulled in with a pickup to buy plants for this large new, fully shaded bed that we've put in at the new home we're building. Jenny took us under her wing & off we went, loading cart after cart with fabulous plants & ideas for grouping & placing them. Alex joined us in the fun, too! When we figured we had enough to fill the truck & get started, they loaded everything in the truck for us, creatively fitting even the largest of plants in the back seat of the cab with tearing a leaf! It was great fun!! I know we would have been overwhelmed on our own without their expert guidance! Heading back this morning to pick up the 12 foot weeping cypress tree..actually ran out of room in the truck for that one! Thanks SO much for always being so helpful! read more

One of my all time favorite nurseries. I really wish I still lived on the rock so I could frequent this place more often. I especially like the history behind this place, japanese internment during WWII and the strawberry packing plant that is now the main office. Its got a lot of history and Junkoh, the owner, is happy to share memories and knowledge of plants. Not to mention that the grounds of Bainbridge gardens are meticulously maintained and you really can get a sense of escaping into a zen garden depending on which part of the gardens you walk through. read more

What a delightful resource! Bainbridge Gardens has a great selection of plants and garden items. Their stock is healthy and varied. But B Gardens is far, far more than just a place to buy plants. They have wonderfully helpful and knowledgable staff (Jenny, Jesus, etc,) who will give you honest feedback about what to plant, (and more important) what not to plant. They will also help you pick the right plant from within their selection. They have a variety of classes to help those who need it build our knowledge base. And they finally, they have a wonderful history....well worth the visit! read more

Not only is this place a wonderful nursery to buy plants and supplies for gardening, it's just awesome to hang out here! The New Rose Cafe, the nature trail, the memorial garden, the statuary and pottery and rows rows and rows of beautiful plants and trees and herbs... and a child's play area... and I didn't even mention all the great things you can find inside the main building. I could go on. You just have to see it to believe it. Plus, if you live on Bainbridge and have a baby, they'll give you a free tree. If you're driving through Bainbridge on your way to the Peninsula, stop here. If you're not driving through, this place is a destination all its own. read more

Bainbridge Gardens is practically a landmark on the island, like Town & Country Market or Bay Hay & Feed. It has an amazing (very well thought out) selection of plants, the staff are extremely plant savvy, the gift shop is wonderful (a life-saver for last minute gifts), and it is always a fun experience. They also have a small cafe (Rose Cafe, I think), which has decent food, but the indoor seating is rustic and basically dirty. Outdoor seating is great. BG is great, the prices are super-duper high, so I only give 4 stars (sorry). I know the prices wholesale, and their mark-up is astonishing, but there is probably a good reason for that (really good staff who know their stuff.) read more

I used to come here alot when I had two acres of gardens and four young boys. This is THE nursery to find that awe inspiring plant, in a multitude of pot sizes and price points! So , now that the "children" are older, one of the sons likes gardening, guess the plant doesn't fall far from the roots...and he likes to RUN to an area he thinks we are going to be competing for...so when we couldn't find THE Japanese Maples that we want, we asked Tim for help.. He showed us the way, called the office for ones we were hoping to find, he found four, he looked through ALL the trees with us looking for them and he was generally extremely helpful, besides being a complete joy to have help us!! Now I would go to Bainbridge Gardens for all the fabulous plants AND TIM!!! read more

This place is a true treasure. It's not just a business but also one of the places on the island that serves as a sort of community center where islanders come together (we love the fall pumpkin walk!). Donna and Jenny and all of the staff are kind, knowledgeable, and really go above and beyond, even when there's a global crisis happening. I planted my covid-victory garden last week, but I needed fresh compost, veggie starts, and seeds to get it going. I also wanted to refresh my spring flowerpots. Over the phone, Donna and Linda were able to help me make my decisions about what I wanted for my vegetable garden, and a friendly delivery guy dropped the supplies by my house the next day with a wave and a smile through the window. I greatly appreciated that I didn't have to come into the store during a time when it's important to try to keep our distance in order to protect ourselves and our neighbors from community spread of the virus. And a sweet bonus: I'm not much a flower gardener and when I do my spring pots I usually just walk the aisles and put anything pretty and bright into my cart. I told Linda over the phone that I needed flowers for my pots but that she should just pick for me since I couldn't tell her the names of any of the flowers I'd bought in the past. What a true pleasure on delivery to see the beautiful selection of flowers she chose for me! It warmed my heart to put them into pots and think of the ways that we can still be connected to each other by thoughtfulness, care, and kindness during this time of distance. I can't wait until we can return to shopping as usual--Bainbridge Gardens (where I often buy gifts for friends, fairy garden supplies for my daughter, and lots of little extras from their homewares shop) will be my first stop. read more
