If you're looking for something fun to do while in the city that doesn't break the bank, take a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island! For less than $10 round-trip, you can take a trip across the waters of Puget Sound with amazing city and island views. This ferry is huge! We boarded the ferry and watched in awe as all the cars loaded onto the boat. I've never seen anything like it and was amazed at how fast and efficient the whole process was. At over 400 feet long, the ferry can carry up to 200 cars and 2,500 passengers. I imagine this would be a good, cheap option for those that have a rental car. For 35 minutes we enjoyed views of Seattle in the distance, nearby islands, and the open waters of Puget Sound out on the deck. The wind picked up the further we got from the city, but thankfully there were a lot of seats available indoors and outdoors on multiple levels. There's also food outlets if you find yourself hankering for a snack. This was such a fun way to see a different part of Washington. I highly recommend sitting up at the top and enjoying the views. It's gorgeous and the perfect spot for photo ops, especially at sunset. read more

The ferry is always fun especially if you've never been in one. But those views... that's what gets me. Lived in Seattle and I still come for the view. Even if it's nice out bring a sweater and a beanie for those sensitive ears! read more

This ferry was soooo fun! I don't understand why most people would stay in their car when you can go on the deck to see the views and be cozy inside! Well, I can imagine if this is your everyday commute, it would get stale. It's defintiely worth seeing during the day and coming back at night to see all the city lights! It's a three level deck that can fit regular cars and logging trucks! Engineering at its finest. Took the ferry, ate at the Carl's rolling bay Cafe, hiked the fort ward park to blakely harbor and back, had pre-dinner at Jake's, and took the ferry back at night. Defintiely a day trip if living or visiting from the city. read more

Washington state ferries all seem quite similar, and this one to Bainbridge Island is no exception. It gets you from point A to point B and back. The cost to walk on is reasonable, but driving - and cycling - can be a strike on the wallet, so be prepared. Plenty of indoor seating to watch the skies and water as you make your way across. A cafe with prepared, hot and bagged foods and snacks is available in case you get a hankering on the 30-minute journey across. read more

What a great trip. Smooth ride with plenty of seating. Blake enjoyed the snack bar, even had a bowl of chowder and a brew. Got to see the lights of Seattle and baseball stadium on the way back. Blake wanted to jump in and swim to that home opener. ( He's crazy like that) read more

First time on the Ferry going over to Bainbridge Island , smooth ride , beautiful views and lots of space to sit and a dining room area with a snack bar, clean bathrooms , seen lots of cars loaded on and the experience was great! enjoyed the ride over. price very reasonable from Seattle and your return back. read more

The ferry is great for using as transportation to and from Bainbridge Island. It's gigantic with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. And of-course the beautiful views of the Seattle skyline as you are pulling away. The ride itself lasts about 35 minutes. I recommend sitting outside on a nice day and getting great shots of the deep blue water. read more

What a great experience this was going Seattle to Bainbridge Island. The station is easily marked out as to where to get tickets and where to wait for the ferry. The ferry itself is so spacious and clean. My teenagers liked the downtime from sightseeing. We chose not to bring our rental car on board, but I think it would be better for seeing the whole island. However, walking to and from the ferry to the main street is so easy. read more

This is my second time ever riding a ferry and it was a really great experience! Tickets were super cheap, they had plenty of options for ferry times. Boarding process was smooth, plenty of room as the ferry is massive. Quick ride over to the island and the ride back is free. Plus great views of the city. read more

Took the ferry to Bainbridge Island and had such a great experience. The ferry terminal is located in downtown Seattle at the waterfront. It's only $8.50 per person for a round trip ticket. Once you get on the ferry, there is plenty of seating both inside and out. Not only do you get beautiful views of both Seattle and Bainbridge Island, it's a comfortable and relaxing 35 minute journey across Puget Sound. And because you are crossing the sound, it's not choppy. For those that get sea sick, not to worry, as both directions are very smooth. read more

This was my first time hop into the ferry to explore Bainbridge Island. The transport time was about 35 minutes and I had a blast! Plenty of food choices on the passenger deck, nice view along Puget Sound / downtown, and surprisingly saw an orca jump out from the ocean. There were like 200+ vehicles on board the ferry. Even though the price for my vehicle was a little expensive than I predicted, still it's worth the purchase. Would love to do a walking trip to the island since it's free by foot from the island back to downtown. read more

The ferry is great once you get on. However, the wait can be two hours! We got here at 11 am. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to get on the ferry. I would happily pay more to get a ticket with an appointment time to avoid lines. read more

So upsetting if you are from another State. One huge line with a wait of over 1.5 hours. Trying to get to SeaTac. Security won't answer any questions- people are very frustrated. Cant get any help trying to figure out to drive or take the ferry. Seems like a Town could figure out a better system. read more

This is the perfect boat ride for a day on Bainbridge Island. Short 35 minute ride but plenty to see. Awesome views of downtown Seattle and other islands in the channel. Beer and wine service enhances the trip along with many options for snacks and meals. read more

Puppy friendly ferries ftw!! I used to be ok with the Washington ferries. Now I love it. They let me bring my puppy!! And he's allowed on the decks. Bainbridge island is a hop a skip away from home/ downtown Seattle. And we love going there. It is also one of the busiest ones so you ended up waiting so much longer to get on it. But you can always check ferry time ahead. An hour wait is normal. Once you're in, park! And go up to the deck. My puppy loves it. Gorgeous views of the city! Windy! So many people on the deck. Pretty! Cold! Sunny! All in one. And you're there. It's just fun. read more

The ferry is a great way to save gas & not have to drive in heavy traffic. It's a traffic jam in Bainbridge for 5 to 10 miles, but way better than an extra 20+ miles on the 5. The ferry is dated, but good accommodations & beautiful views. Fee was under $20 for car + 1 person read more

About 3 or 4 years ago on a family trip with my parents to Oregon and Washington we took this ferry to Seattle from Bainbridge Island. We had to drive awhile to this secluded woodsy area where Bainbridge Island is. Super cool. Drove the car onto the lower deck. Upper two decks have a snack bar and seating on both. You can go out and we did take pics in the windy glory. Hair flying, cheeks flapping. Fun. Gulls looking for food. Price was very reasonable and the ride was like a half hour or so. Highly recomended for a jaunt to Seattle and time to relax and see the waters and smell that air outside! read more

Washington Ferry...runs like clockwork. Pay, wait a bit, load cars, people, cyclist aboard quickly and flawlessly. Sit in the car, get food or drinks on the passenger deck, sit outside or inside, there's plenty of space to relax, talk or just take in the sights...it was a great trip to Bainbridge Island. We stayed two nights on a quiet tranquil island. Ferried to Seattle to see the Space Needle, visit Market Street and eat crepes than buy some of the most beautiful colorful flowers at great prices. The Bainbridge Island Ferry is a great activity to do on a day with great weather. It cost 10$ for a round trip walk-on ticket and takes 35 minutes one way. You can plan a whole day trip on the island as well. The views from the top floor are amazing, to see the islands and Seattle skyline. There is plenty of seating all around and a galley for drinks and food. We got the house wine (chardonayè) and PPONOCR, which is a quirky way of spelling popcorn but still tasted good. They also had free Smuckers grape jam, which was to die for! Chef's kiss. I also love the views returning back from Bainbridge approaching the city. Highly recommend. read more

Great little adventure! We saw whales during our trip to Bainbridgre island. A lot of place to sit and everything that you need- restrooms, vending machines, popcorn, coffee. I highly recommend take this ferry to other island. Great view of Seattle as well read more

really nice ferry ride to bainbridge ferrry. only cost $9 for round trip for walk on and you get some excellent views of the city from the water. the ferry is about 15-20 min walk from pike place market. the ferry station is at pier 52 and you can just buy your ticket in person at the booth. recommend checking the ferry schedule and spending time on bainbridge island via bike rental or car. read more

You wouldn't think a ferry ride would be a must during your visit to Seattle, but you'd be proven wrong. Beautiful views of Puget Sound and Emerald City, all while you're enjoying a relaxing float across the water. There's even a restaurant with wine options to make you feel extra glitzy! read more

Thoroughly enjoyed this experience! It is a somewhat quick 45 minute put to Bainbridge Island from Seattle. Ferries leave at least once, sometimes twice an hour. The first one typically leaves at 5:30am and the last one before 11pm (but check their schedule to be certain!). Tickets are about $8.50 for adults. This ferry is massive. I was shocked when I watched car after car drive on to the port. There are 3 decks--the lowest one houses all the cars and bikes, and the upper two have seating both inside and outside. There are also places to grab a bite to eat or something to drink on the ferry. It's equipped with bathrooms too. I highly recommend siting up top (especially if it is a sunshiny day). It's a bit chilly, but the views are gorgeous and make the whole ride a lovely experience! read more

Looking for something fun and Seattle-y to do without breaking the bank? You gotta take a ferry ride! At less than $10 round trip for a walk-on ticket, this has got to be one of the sweetest deals in the city - especially if you want to enjoy a leisurely ride at sea, amazing city views, and Insta-worthy photo ops that'll have everyone wishing they were you for the day. While it had been awhile since I'd done this ferry route, it was every bit as cool as I remember it being the last time I went to Bainbridge. I rode the Wenatchee with co-workers (and about a zillion commuters) on a Friday afternoon. We enjoyed the outdoor deck until it got windy, and then we moved inside to relax for the rest of the journey. Soon enough, we arrived at Winslow and found some dinner before hustling back to the big city. Sure, there are lots of things to do when you're visiting (or even if you live in) Seattle. But there's just nothing quite like this classic ride. read more

We took the Bainbridge Island Ferry over Labor Day weekend Sunday and we had a really nice day trip across the island. The ride does get a bit windy at times but we were blessed with sunny Seattle weather. The price is very reasonable as it's only costs $9 round trip. You get a great view of the Seattle harbor, pano pictures are definitely recommended! Plenty of beautiful photo ops! Love how many riders bought their doggies as well. The ferry is quite big and there are many seatings all around. The ride is only about half an hour and it was a great experience to do this on our short weekend trip! read more

Such a classic staple of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Such a wonderful ride to Bainbridge island. Calm and relaxing. I have memorized the whole "signals will be sounded on the general alarm...followed by same signal on the ships whistle". Views are a big part of the Washington ferries. This is a quick ride. About 30 minutes...ish? Enjoy it. Windy, but beautiful. read more

Great way of traveling the different parts of the pudget sounds. The area is spacious and alot of places to enjoy the views and have some privacy. The bathrooms were clean. I didn't get a chance to eat the food. The 30 minute ride was a bit bumpy because of the engine and the waters were calm. The entire ship was very clean. I felt safe the entire ride. I enjoyed the experience. read more

The ferry is a great way to get back and forth from Bainbridge island. The ferry was very clean and offers great views of the Seattle city while traveling to Bainbridge. We didn't bring a car and we're easily able to travel to downtown Bainbridge, and had easy access to the beach front. read more

Fabulous establishment, the vineyard and winery located just a ferry ride away from Seattle. The wines are fantastic, a must visit if you cross the sound. The staff is delightful. We arrived early, upon opening hours, it started getting busy so plan accordingly. The fresh air and wine is all worth while. read more

It's a well oiled machine, beautiful way to get to Bainbridge Island. Lots of seating options inside and out. Draft beers and snacks on board but it's a quick 30 minute ride so we didn't partake of any of the food. We bought our tix at the terminal, super inexpensive. read more

A must do at least once. Did not expect that we would literally drive our vehicle on this ship, get off the vehicle and be able to hang out with full view of seattle and so much more amazing scenery for an hour, and be let off the ship to drive around and get lost on this island of bainbridge. Initially didn't see a whole lot to do on the island but we drove around, grabbed a bite to eat, and ran into Kitsap lake park where we found it so peaceful, calm, and so much nature to enjoy. There is a departing ferry every couple hours so you can stay as short or as long as you want on the island. Just keep in mind it does take an hour ferry ride to get back into downtown Seattle. Oh and we found out you are not required to get off the car on the ferry, we chose to take a nap in our car on the way back to downtown Seattle. read more

Cool ferry ride. Larger than expected. Comfortable seating. Snack bar. First time we took the ferry. Enjoyable for the entire family. Once we got to the island, it went downhill. Been there once. No need to go again. Not sure what the fascination is. Shops are uppity. Restaurants are over priced. Go once and be done with it. read more

The ship promptly left dock at designated time. The top deck had open view. The second level had enclosed area with glass window views. Also both ends were open to guests as well. From start to end, the staff member did an amazing job of narrating many aspects of the views from the deck. A lot of it was about the downtown Seattle buildings, Space Needle, buildings and parks by the shore, the sea ports and many other cool facts along the way. I throughly enjoyed the hour long tour. The weather was also fantastic to take stunning pictures of the downtown, the mountains and the port. They also had a bar in second level where they served alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, pop corn and some small snacks. Prices were decent for it being a tourist activity. We liked both popcorn and the strawberry lemonade.

I got some great instruction from them both, with helpful quizzing on what I had learned, and opportunities to put learning into practice. Both instructors were such a joy to sail with and learn from. Nick's broad experience and passion for teaching really shine through! Additionally, Lake Union Charters is one of the very few places that could accommodate my schedule for sailing lessons. I am a breastfeeding mama, so I can only be away from my little one for a few hours at a time, and most schools do their beginner's courses over a weekend of 8hr days. I also felt that my 2 hour/class 6 class beginner package was the perfect spacing to allow knowledge, book learning, and the experience I was accumulating to really soak in. These guys are awesome!

Food looked edible and it was nice to have servers come through the cabin - they also passed out motion sickness pills - although our ride was smooth. Nice views of the water and mountains all the way there and back. I wouldn't recommend parking in the Bell Street Garage. Although it was ten bucks a day we ended up locked in the garage upon return for more than an hour due to a broken machine and limited staffing. Clipper was not responsive or helpful when we offered feedback on this partnership, which makes me dock a star.
