The Hainan chicken place is closed and that empty space looked like a ghost town with trash. The bakery and the juice shop were both closed. Nothing enticing is left out for customers to buy (usually after closing they left out some good stuff; you take them and pay at the main check out counter). Even worse, the normally lively Hot Deli place was also closed. Nothing! Only a few sad looking, pathetic randomly packed lunch boxes out front (for self check out). 99 Ranch does not close until 10 pm. Everything should stay available until then.

Having relocating to a new office in the area, I was craving some authentic Chinese food for lunch. Upon walking into the supermarket, I knew something smelled different. Gone (or under repair) is the wet market. No fish in tanks, no turtles swimming around and no clams or crabs over ice. Honestly, the place smelled better. However, was the restaurant with the roasted meals and Chinese entrees still there? Yes! $8.49 for a meal of rice and 3 your choice of sides (1 veggie + 2 meat choices), plus a soup. I added a ginormous sesame ball (filled w red bean paste. I was hoping for lotus but yeah for price of $1.99 not happening). Total of $11.11. What did I get? Beef tendon with radish (mostly if not all radish and chuck). I'd pass. Eggplant. Yep, I'll get again. Pork patty. Yep, I'll get again. A soup came with the meal. It was tomato. It was OK. So, will I come back again for a box lunch and sesame ball? Yep, I totally will!

It reminded me very strongly of a bright new HMart. Fresh fruit and veggies galore. I found Noh's seasoning packets there that I have not been able to find in HMart for years, and also identified numerous Asian food items that generally make HMart a go-to grocery store for me. Clean, organized, well-stocked. I'm thinking I may change my shopping habits a little and start checking out these Fresh World stores when I'm near one. This location is a winner.

The other issue was I asked two employees for galangal and neither spoke English so they got someone from the back who I asked and he took me to mangos. When I showed him the word "Galangal" on my phone, he said no. After trying the HMart down the street and comparing it to how disorganized, messy, cramped, and the poor service here, I'm done with this place.
