I've come here many times over the years when I needed specialty ingredients and produce. I have had mixed results when looking for items and on a recent trip, ended up going to HMart down the street for galangal as they didn't have any here. The other issue was I asked two employees for galangal and neither spoke English so they got someone from the back who I asked and he took me to mangos. When I showed him the word "Galangal" on my phone, he said no. After trying the HMart down the street and comparing it to how disorganized, messy, cramped, and the poor service here, I'm done with this place. read more

Interesting and diverse combo. Asian and Hispanic foods. Great concept in my opinion. Unfortunately more expensive than I was hoping for. Inflation I'll concede is a challenge. Grocery stores aren't known for huge profit margins. Yet the food is more expensive than I thought, although this is a cool store. Good people here. Thank you to the friendly staff. Quite clean as well, despite being super busy. They certainly have a nice area for fruits and vegetables. If you're in the area stop in. This is a unique and fun place. They are rude. I was just now in the store buying some expensive white grapes at $4.99lb and red grapes at $3.49lb. I found a pack of gorgeous white grapes that was about a pound. I wanted a few red grapes..maybe like a half pound or less. So I was looking at the bags and they were mostly full bags. So I opened one to get some out. The old ass security guard came up with an attitude and said they are watching you on the camera. You can't pick thru the bags. You have to buy the whole bag. I said excuse me, you can't tell me how much to purchase and some of these are rotten. He just repeated his initial comment. I put everything back right where I was standing and left the store. I was really hoping I was going to like this place as there aren't too many international groceries near me. The produce looks great and honestly no complaints in that regard. I bought chicken tenderloins from here and within a few days of being in my fridge they smelled horrible. I threw them into my garbage can in the garage after bagging and tying it up in a produce bag. The next morning, even with as cold as it was (near freezing) the smell filled the garage. Employee was so rude. I just got a small kitten not even two months old and came here to grocery shop with him. Mind you he was in one of those backpacks meant for animals. Clear view from all side and I had no intention of taking him out of the backpack. He was just chilling and sleeping in the back pack while I was quickly grocery shopping. This employee just told me that I had to get out of the store because of my kitten! Just rushed me out. I understand the no pet policy and all. But he was in the backpack with no contact with anything at all. He was so rude about it forcing me out of the store. Honestly he could have handled it better and I would have had no problem leaving but the attitude and the force was so rude and unnecessary. So disappointed! read more

We have f***ed up this world, very thoroughly. Manassas is one of the epitomes of that statement. Ugly gridlock traffic with endless shiny new obnoxious suburbia. You know what we need? We need to start over. We need a Fresh World. Well guess what. Manassas has one. Fresh World is one of my favourite grocery stores in all of the DMV. I come here whenever I can. They have excellent fruits, although some are not such great quality, but what a great selection, including Satsumas! My beloved! Usually they have good prices on produce compared to the major chains and even the other International Grocery Stores. There's also a pretty good Thai restaurant inside here. I don't have any Thais to that business, I'm just being honest. However the main reason I like this place so much is the employees. They are absolute angels. If the VS Angels were all Latinas and all worked in grocery stores, they'd be these girls! I adore them! They seem to adore me as well! They all gather round the check out when I'm, well, checking out and, well, check me out while I, well, check them out. I like speaking Spanish to them and we all like flirting with each other. Another international market in the midst of what is the diversity of NoVa. In the space that was formerly...Shoppers. The produce section alone in this store is larger than some Foodlion stores. It's a bit chaotic when you enter, especially if it's a busy day. The traffic flow as shoppers exit and enter is all bottle necked right at the front of the store. Compounded by the small aisles as you enter the produce section. You go here if you are diverse and like your favorite diverse brands from around the globe. As i navigated the isles, I heard voices in Korean, Spanish, Indian, Japanese and English. For me the produce and fresh bagged veggies are the standout choices. Whoever heard of sweet lemons, who knew there was such a thing? There are also two 'in-store' restaurants. Lil Bowl where you can get Thai & Japanese food; they do catering as well. I'm never shopping here again. I was humiliated by one of the male Korean associates. I've been a customer since this place open, often buying Asian ingredients in large quantities and bulk. They recognize my face. They know I'm a regular. However, this time they were really nasty to me. I travel with my backpack. I'm a guy, I don't carry a big purse. My backpack has my medication for emergencies, my laptop, and personal valuables. I never leave it. Especially during a time of covid, I also have PPE, wipes, and sanitizers in there. The minute I walked into the store, that guy, about 5'6" wearing a red jacket, stopped me and talked to me in a condescending tone. He told me I was not allowed to shop there because I was wearing a backpack. I had to leave it at the counter. Then I told him what was in my bag and I even told him he can search it when I exit. What is the difference between my backpack and women who carry big purses? Are you going to keep purses at the counter too? And he said I wasn't allowed to shop there, even if I had my belongings and medicines in there. I told him I'm not leaving my personal belongings (medicine, laptop, etc) without my bag. That's ridiculous. And he was so aggressive and condescending the way he talked down to me in front of everyone it was EMBARRASSING! I left the store. I usually spend over $100 each week at this store shopping for my family. I will take my business elsewhere to people who treat their customers with dignity. Additionally, I will be working with my lawyer on this matter as I feel that I was incredibly discriminated against either by the way I look or his ability to talk down on me as a customer. I've talked to bystanders nearby and gotten their contacts and they will be supporting me on this as witnesses. 1. If it is store policy that I cannot carry a backpack, then they should restrict every person that went in there with a larger bag than mine. 2. The audacity of the employee to talk down on a customer - even if I'm wrong and even if you don't allow me to go in, fine, but don't disrespect and talk to me as if I'm a child. I was not being aggressive prior. I inquired about your policies, and your employee decided to talk to me like trash. 3. Place a sign at the store front. I have photos, you have no sign up. 4. Your employee seemed me out while other people with larger bags walked passed me. This is the worst customer service. 5. If I do not hear from management, I will be filing more complaints. read more

The meat department is WONDERFUL! They still actually cut meat there, unlike other grocery stores. Because of this, I was able get some beef fat to grind in with deer meat. To me, that is a big deal because I really didn't know how to find it. The meat manager is really a nice guy. He didn't think it was strange when I explained what I wanted and what it was for and he had it for me the very next day! Living in this area it's hard to find anyone to help with uncommon requests, everything is "pre-packaged" in this large metro area. Aside from the meat department, this is my go to store for produce and things I just can't find at typical chain grocery stores. They carry a HUGE variety of Bob's Mill fours and almost any kind of tea you can think of. I am very grateful to have them so close to my home. read more

I love this grocery store. This is definitely the better grocery store for Asian and Hispanic things you're looking for. H Mart and Lotte in this area can't top this place. Prices are good, vegetables and fruits are definitely fresh. They have this place is clean and neat. Easy to find things. I've been told about this place for awhile now and this is my second time here and I love it. Definitely convenient for me and close to my house and business so it's so much better then driving down Falls Church just to get my asian products. read more

I really like this grocery store but I took off 1 star because, for the bigger space that it has, the selections aren't as varied as the Springfield location. Still, though some regular international grocery items (regular in the sense that I've seen them carried in other international grocery stores in Northern VA) aren't available, the produce section has much better prices than regular grocery stores. Most of the workers are bilingual. They have one of the biggest selections of produce that I've ever seen, along with products. I've been to other international stores, and they most specialize only in Hispanic foods with a sprinkle of Asian products. But this one has middle eastern to more European foods to a wider variety of Asian foods. Probably my favorite store to go explore. read more

The smell of rotting food trapped in the vestibule was enough to make me leave if it wasn't a one way that you are trapped in. Maybe it's just in there? Nope as soon as you exit you are assaulted with the noxious fumes of rotting fruit. I wanted out of here but I needed to use the restroom. I make a round of the store and am hit by more rotting food smell near the eggs and milk. I make it to the bathroom and there is duct tape all over the restroom doors. Shabby chic? I had to hold my nose to escape the store and even after getting in my car my nose burns like I have been composting. I won't be shopping for food at this store. read more

Hubby and I love this place! It's a lot less crowded and not as busy as the Springfield location. I love the seafood- fresh salmon, rockfish, shrimp, and crablegs. The summer mangos are amazing. The halal meats are fresh and the cashiers are fast. read more

So, I love Fresh World... the best part are the prices. Now, remember its an international grocery store so your day to day odds and ends may be more expensive. However, the produce and meat are way less expensive than other grocery store. I can buy fresh herbs and harder to find produce for great deals. Additionally, I cook my dinner and pack the rest for lunch the next day so I like the fact that they sell small and large portions of meat. If I want 3/4lb of chicken, I don't have to buy 4lbs and freeze the rest. I prep 4 meals (2 serving or more each) for the week along with extra fruit, cooking oils, baking supplies, snacks and necessities and I usually only spend $55-63/week. A bunch of my friends started shopping here too. Oh, also the man in the seafood department ensure to cut me fresh Salmon in front of me! I was surprised and glad to see the wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables available here. There were probably 8 different varieties of bananas alone. The selection of greens was huge and they were all very fresh. Plenty of long aisles of canned and packaged goods from Asia and Latin America. The prices were good, too. The bakery section had lots of items I've never seen and looked intriguing. It was about 11pm and I had just pulled into town to visit someone and wanted to pick up a few things to cook for breakfast. I've been there to shop for like three times? But I already know that this store is gonna be one of my favorite grocery store. When I went there for the first time, it was just for curious. I was wondering what's the difference b/w regular grocery store and "international" store.. I mean the only thing that I care is the price.. duh They had lots of selection like grocery stuff, fruits, vegetables, meats, fishes.. and the price was affordable. Quality of product was okay to me. They literally have everything!!! I also made a suggestion to grocery manager for something that I was looking for. I was like "you guys have everything!! Except the mayonnaise with lime.. I went to other stores and they don't have that" then he was like "we don't have it right now but we can definitely order that." I honestly thought he was just saying it, but then boom!! They just got that item last week. They really have great customer service which is they make sense and do listen. This store was neat and tidy and people were helpful. And employees were open to hear any suggestions. The only thing that I would concern about this store is the temperature for inside. Will NEVER shop here again. From management to employee's everyone has an attitude of Whatever! Ran into a problem trying to order fish and have it cleaned. Because the employees behind the counter where overwhelmed with cleaning fish, there was no one to help other patrons who wanted to order.( Additionally, neither employee spoke English). I praised the management in the past for keeping the store cleaner than other asian markets in Manassas, but I will not be going there any longer. My mother recently bought some cheese from there only to discover when she got home, it was moldy even though expiration date on it was April 17, 2018. When we took it back today, manager Seo ( don't know the correct sp) pointed the store policy where it says returns are to be made within 24 hrs. When I tried to explain my mother is 78 yr old who doesn't drive, he looked at me stone faced and told me I don't understand the store policy. Asked him if she was supposed to pay for a taxi to get there, he shrugged and said nothing. No apologies no explanation. They need to attend some classes here in US about customer service if they want to do business here. I and rest of my family will not be going back. Obviously they can get away with selling moldy product and expect elderly to return it within 24 hrs. NO exceptions!! read more
