Excellent!! What a wonderful place. The best kielbasa I have had in a loooong time (since leaving Chicago in 1978!). The young lady recommended the cherry kielbasa and my only regret is I did not buy more. Wife and I ate up a full link in an afternoon just snacking! If you have had regular grocery store bought polish sausage... forget it!! Go here and try, you'll never buy kielbasa at a regular store again!! It's an hour drive for an old man... but I will make it up there as often as I am able. P.S. The stuffed cabbage is to DIE for! I just heated it up with a can of tomato sauce and BAM!! Love this store. They have lots of European sweets, meats, grains, drinks, and canned goods. They're like a smaller version of World Market, with a bakery & deli section. They have a decent selection of flavors for their Milka chocolate bars, and they have tons of chocolates with liquor. Their sausages are delicious, too. Don't walk in and order "kielbasa." The first time I went in, I made this error. "They are all kielbasa." No, I didn't know that kielbasa just means sausage. Amazing sausages and Polish sauerkraut. What makes the sauerkraut Polish? Well, it contains just cabbage and salt, and is made, of course, in Poland. The Polonaise brand is thinner sliced, and the Krakus brand is thicker sliced. Also available with cabbage. For grilling, absolutely the best kielbasa around. "Hunter" is smokier and larger, and "Grill" is smaller and juicy. Both are fantastic with the right coarseness of meat (not like hotdogs), and spiced and salted to perfection. Wish they sold Martin's potato long rolls, as that requires an extra trip. read more

Since I'm half Ukrainian, I was excited to find this small Polish gem conveniently located in the middle of Vienna! Like most ethnic stores, the store is mostly canned and jarred foods that keep well on the shelves, but there is a decent selection of frozen and fresh foods that are actually fresh, and that's why I'll be coming back again. Apparently, breads, beers, etc. arrive on Tuesdays and meats, pierogies, and fresh baked goods arrive on Fridays - most things are shipped from New York City. So when I arrived at 11:30AM on Friday, they were just unpacking the meats, holipse (stuffed cabbage), Polish doughnuts, baked apple pie, and pierogies. Winning! The kabanos (delicious smoked sausage) was priced at about $2.50 a link or $10 a pound, and it tasted just like I had walked out of my favorite Polish store in New Jersey. My husband already went back for a second trip for the kabanos less than a week later because it was so delicious. The poppyseed bread was good, but it was not what I'm used to - there was a sugar glaze not traditionally found on poppyseed bread and I think there is a liquor cooked into the poppyseed bread (the liquor was actually an unexpectedly positive enhancement, but not something I've experienced before). As for the pierogies, the price was steep at $6 for $12 pierogies, but pre-made pierogies are always too expensive. I enjoyed the wide selection of stuffings, personally opting for the sauerkraut and mushroom mix, but I don't think I'll be ordering again just because of the price. Overall, I'll definitely be back for the kabanos on a regular basis, and if I'm particularly craving pierogies, I might be back for those as well. read more

Finally got a chance to pop in here to get FRESH Polish sausage, which was terrific. Also got some condiments - horseradish sauce and a grainy mustard. I was there In the Polish Store, Vienna Virginia several times for the last 3 years. Great people and quality Polish Food. Including hard to get Polish Forest Honey. Next time I want to get Napoleon cake but is only on Thursday and Friday. I know is the Best in DC area. I did try in DC Cafe Leopold in Georgetown but is not the same Quality and is very small for the price. And I want to get packet in glass Best Polish cabbage sauerkraut. If you are Polish, or you love someone Polish, this place is worth a drive. Several kielbasa types, frozen pierogies, bakery items, and lots of Polish pantry goods, and very reasonable prices. Communication is a bit muffled in the "mask and plexiglass " era, but I was lucky to have a Polish-speaking companion ordering for us. As I have found with many Poles I've met over the years, the owners are somewhat reserved, so I won't expect a lot of chat until we become regulars. I've been here 3 times. I always buy a lot from each section: fresh meat, bakery and imported goods. Selection is great and prices are right. I am extremely disappointed with my visit yesterday 2/7. I went to buy the poppy seed bread that was incredibly delicious my last visit. I saw all the loaves and thought-how exciting, fresh and yummy! Clearly the owner took a load from last week and it was stale. I did not think this was a place I would have to check. This had to have been done on purpose. I will no longer become a regular. We have been coming here since this place opened. We were happy it is still continuing to do a good business. On fridays after 11 they still have the baked goods they bring in from out of town. Delicious! Punhkes and Napoleons are great. Finally a shop/market that has everything I've ate growing up! They have shops like this up north more regularly but down here by my house, what a treat! I no longer have to hike up to MD or settle for American-ized Polish food from the supermarkets. The shop is tucked away off 123 across the street from Wolf Trap in Vienna with red and white (Polish flag colors) signs in the window so it's not too hard to miss. The inside is small and cozy with racks of all your dry and canned goods. There's a fridge in the back that has some meats, cheeses, & pierogies as well as a deli style window up front with fresh kelbasi, cheeses, and other foods. The owner was a very nice gentleman that showed me all the fresh desserts they had while I made my rounds in the store. He told me that they came from Gdansk(northern Poland) and showed me on this giant map they had on the wall! I picked up my gołabki, paczkis, and other candy/dessert and I was quickly on my way home to eat some food I eat that I rarely get to see. And without a doubt, the food tasted fresh, authentic, tasty, just like my babcia(grandma) used to make me. I cannot wait to come back and get everything else! read more

We were reminiscing about paczkis and the lack of a good polish bakery in northern Virginia, and stumbled across this new store on the net. They had beautiful, fresh baked paczkis for Fat Tuesday, as well as all sorts of fresh kielbasa, kiszka and other hard to find Polish goods. Pierogi, nalesniki and head cheese. The extremely friendly and fun owner said they get all sorts of fresh cakes, golumki, etc. from a restaurant in New York on Fridays. We will be back there this week. I kept driving by this place thinking it was a nail salon. Was pleasantly surprised to find it is actually an Eastern European / Polish market. The sausages are fantastic. Picked up a cherry smoked polish sausage and some potato cheddar pierogis this trip. They carry our favorite Czech mustard that I discovered on a business trip to Prague while living in London. I give it 2 stars only because the kabanosy were good. Customer service was bad, though. When I stopped by yesterday, I wasn't ever greeted or even acknowledged. The man behind the counter was quite cold, and his tone of voice and manner of speaking to others was anything but pleasant. Now, as a Polish-American citizen, I may not have the best accent or grammar, however I spoke to him in Polish that was perfectly understandable-- yet he continued to reply to me in English throughout the entire exchange. I find this to be rude, because I was very clearly trying to use this as an opportunity to practice my Polish. When I completed the transaction, I wasn't thanked or told to have a nice day-- I was abruptly told to pick up my kabanosy at the table by the door. I've been to plenty of Polish stores in the DMV area, and never have I experienced such an unpleasant environment. If that's how they treat first-time customers, I'm never coming back here. read more

Very disappointed with this place. I have called and texted to place an order with this place and have received no answer back. On their Facebook page it still says that they were allowing people inside so I decided to drive out and get what I needed since I was getting no response. I park and a guy comes to the door and asks if I have an order, I said no but was wondering if I can just get what I need. He kept talking with the door shut. I am hard of hearing and have no idea what he is saying, but he keeps rambling on and finally I get that he wanted me to call the store. So I'm standing there calling and no one picks up. Seriously!?! Horrible customer service. All I wanted was a ring of kielbasa and some horseradish that I would share with my brother since we are not able to see out parents this Easter. Very excited and happy to have a Polish market nearby in Vienna. Originally from the Midwest, I've lived in the D.C. area for ten years. Having a Polish family, the one thing I missed most moving to the area were the Eastern European markets. Everything you could want from a Polish store - kluski noodles, jellies/jams, cookies, candies, herbal teas, kielbasa, cheeses, butters. Very nice store in the inside with wonderful owners. I stopped by this afternoon out of curiosity. It's a typical ethnic store--very small with at least half of the inventory being processed, pre-packaged food. I'm not really complaining, as I can guess how difficult it must be to stock such a specialized store. But when I walked in, I was the only customer. There was one employee and she completely ignored me--she didn't say "hi," didn't ask me if I needed help, and didn't acknowledge me in any way. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and weird. I assume she was from Poland, and I would've loved to talk to her about her native country, but I guess she wasn't the chatty type. If she had greeted me warmly and been willing to share her passion for and knowledge of Polish food, and I probably would've spent more money. What an amazing little market. I grew up with Polish parents and a variety of Polish meat markets in NY. The items that this market carries are very authentic and worth the visit. Pass the meat section at the grocery store and come here instead. They have the most amazing bacon, ham, kielbasa, etc. If you have kids, the little veal hotdogs and kabanos are tasty treats for them. The owners are very nice and will help you if you are unsure of what to get. It can be intimidating to read see meats and not understand the signs if they are Polish, but the owners won't steer you wrong. You truly won't find tastier meats than here! read more

What a great little shop! Fresh sausages, and lots of Polish grocery products. I grew up in an area that still has strong Polish influences, and had never tried fruit-filled pierogi's before. They had a bunch here (strawberry, cherry, plum). Give it a try, even if you're not Polish! read more
