There's a fantastic seafood restaurant, fishing pier, and pretty water views too! During the winter months when the sun sets early at 530-6, the park really should have lights for the playground at least until 8pm. There's not enough parking spots for this park and parking on side of road has signs that say no parking which is ridiculous because everyone parks on the side of the road anyways. If you're in the south Tampa area and looking for pretty water views, casual seafood, or a fun kids playground, definitely visit Ballast Point Park!

The trails are tranquil and vary in difficulty from easy to somewhat hard. Along the way there are plenty of opportunities to watch the animal life of the area and capture them in photographs. There a plenty of benches and little nooks where to rest along the way, some good enough to enjoy a picnic! Besides hiking this park offers all kinds of amenities such as camping- (all, including glamping), biciclying, horseback riding, fishing, and canoe/kayak launching. There is a historical fort and grounds within but currently close for renovations, (I believe it is scheduled to open in November). At Hillsborough River State Park there is plenty to do to enjoy a great day outdoors!

The check in gentleman was a bit unfriendly and angry in his delivery of orders- but perhaps he had good reason. Just not the most friendly start the day. All of what he said was likely valid, it was just the angry tone in delivery that felt off. All and all, I would definitely book again if we come back to the area!

There are 3-4 large pavilions on the beach, along with grills. There are a couple of volleyball courts as well. Showers and restrooms are located near the entrance/exit of the parking lot. A word of caution - there are some sharks in the waters, so you don't want to venture out past the no swimming signs that are clearly posted in the water. Two downsides to this location - there are no waves (I know that's no ones fault!) and the sand/beach area isn't maintained by a staff, so there is grass growing very close to the beach. One could argue that you get that "natural" beach feeling, so to each their own.

It's simple, peaceful, and has that classic Florida waterfront feel that makes you want to slow down and take it all in. Walking out on the pier, you get beautiful views of the water and a nice breeze that makes it perfect any time of day. It's a great place to just relax, look out over the bay, and enjoy the scenery. Everything felt clean and well kept, and it wasn't overly crowded, which made the experience even better. The highlight for us was spotting a stingray swimming right near the pier such a cool and unexpected moment. Watching it glide through the water made the whole visit feel special, especially for my daughter. It's those little surprises that turn a good stop into a great one. We had a lot of fun. Overall, the Safety Harbor Pier is a perfect spot for a peaceful walk, some great views, and even a chance to see some wildlife up close. I could not make that trip and tried to make arrangements to go on several other trips but due to scheduling it did not work out on either end. On Sept 13th I asked for a credit / gift card for another trip. I was not going to be able to go for many weeks and wanted something showing I had a credit for the 200+ I had paid, but got no response. On Sept 19th I asked for a refund since they had ignored my request and again got no response. On Friday the 26th I asked for acknowledgment of my request and yet again, got no response. On Monday the 29th I called and left a message for the owner to contact me and never got a call back. I had to put in a dispute with my credit card company. Be cautious booking with them. First experience was great, second experience showed they couldn't care less, once they have your money it doesn't matter if they take you diving or not.

If you want a top notch fishing experience, this is the guy that you need to go with. Captain…read moreJared is a local born and raised and knows the area like the back of his hand. We went on a 8 hours excursion with my son and dad and it was an experience of a lifetime. Capt Jared talked us through what kind of fishing we would be doing and where we would go. He had a loose plan for the day, based on the tides, weather, etc. We were not disappointed. We were on fish within 10 minutes of leaving the dock, and it really didn't stop all day. We fished docks early, then some oyster beds, small islands, then out to some reefs, the sand key jetty, then back to docks to finish up. We caught some of everything (black drum, sheepshead, a flounder!, red fish, mangrove snapper, a shark, snook, and trout). Many were not keepers, but we did pretty well. I think we took home 11 keepers, after catching about 50 fish (we kind of lost count). If we didn't have any luck in a spot, we moved on pretty quickly. He seemed to know the patterns intimately. He was such a good guide. He truly wants people of have a great fishing experience. He was disappointed that he couldn't have gotten us more fish (he highly recommends the spring season). We were happy with our experience. NOTE: If you are staying local, there is a place in Ozone (Molly Goodheads) that will prepare your fish.
