I explained our issue with our AC unit. Since the line was freezing he suspected low freon. We went outside and he measured the freon. After using his equipment he showed me it was low and said there may be a leak. Instead of trying to rip me off right away with a costly service he recommended to refill the freon and for us to check if the issue goes away. He also offered to return without a service fee if it does leak and he needs to come back out to check all the lines. So far so good. If you are looking for an honest, easy to understand AC/heater company Bernie is your guy. Service fee was $75.

He said we need to replace our A/C and will cost us $3K. We then decided to just stand the heat and save money to fix our A/C next year. Until our hero came......My in-laws contacted Bernie of Four Seasons, he's the guy who repairs and maintains the A/C and Heater in the condos at their place in Van Nuys. He actually opened the A/C unit and fix the cause of leak. The condensation from the A/C now goes properly thru the pipe. Excellent job! The most amazing thing was he only charged us $80. We saved a lot of money, we don't have to suffer sleepless nights of warm weather and our A/C is still running perfectly. :) My husband and I can't thank him enough. A year ago we bought a fixer-upper with two broken HVAC systems. I researched what an HVAC system…read moreshould cost in Palmdale, CA in 2023 (last year). Then I scheduled 4 companies to come out and give us estimates. The first guy came in a suit with a fancy portfolio full of pictures and told us he'd need at least 90 minutes for the estimate (this is a yellow flag). He bragged about his company and finally gave us a quote of $55,000; I could not stop laughing. Then the second candidate showed up and put us through a similar show and tell of all they would do for us. He came in at $27,000 but my research told me that was still too high and he could not answer many of the questions I asked him. Both of these guys used scare tactics and put everyone else down in order to get the business. The phrase "you'll get what you pay for" is their favorite line. Don't buy it. Neither of these guys really knew about HVAC systems...they were just trained to sell, sell, sell. The other 2 companies were Oscar's SoCalMechanical and another local company. Their quotes were nearly identical and right in line with my research of fair prices. All 4 companies were quoting the same brand with the same specs. We choose Oscar of Southern California Mechanical because he was straight-forward, knowledgeable, and totally honest. Oscar explained exactly what we needed for the size of our home and also what would not make any difference. Yes, he knows about all the high priced bells and whistles, but if you don't need them, he's not going to try to razzle-dazzle and upsell you on things you don't need. He has a gift for educating people about HVAC systems and if you pay attention, you'll learn so much. This home needed everything; at times it was over-whelming. In the midst of the remodeling project that is finally approaching completion after a year, it has been extremely refreshing to find someone who is not just in it for the money, but who truly cares about the long-term service he can offer his customers. Our units have been working fine for a full year now and we've been very comfortable. In fact, we're going to sign up for the maintenance/cleaning package so that Oscar and his team can keep our new units working efficiently for years to come. We highly recommend Oscar and his team at Southern California Mechanical because of his honesty and dedication to his customers.
