My old review as of 4/20/2016: I'm very impressed with the service I received. David came out to repair our LG dryer which had stopped heating up. He repaired the dryer and left the work area cleaner than what it was when he started. David is friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The problem was diagnosed accurately the first time, repaired properly and the dryer works as good as new. Fair prices and honest service. What more can you ask for? Arrived within the hour as promised, assessed the problem and what needed to be done. Answered all my questions beyond my satisfaction, came back the next day to follow up after necessarily giving 24 hours to allow refrigerator to defrost, arrived on time or early tested everything and found everything working properly. I called Jeff to come and look at my standup Frigidaire freezer and he came the same day before 10 o'clock in the morning which I was very happy about. He explained what was wrong, he fixed what was wrong, he told me what to look for as indicating he needed to come back, and what that would mean. He was so inquisitive about the freezer and gave me tips on how to prevent this from happening again for which I was very grateful. I called Jeff & Sons to install a Washing Machine Stator. He came out within 20 mins. Looked at the washer did his own diagnostic and determined that the Stator wasn't needed. He also, looked at my ice maker and gave me recommendations on how to resolve the issue. He didn't charge me cent for the service call. Ok, I moved to Lancaster and my refrigerator seemed as if it wasn't cooling enough at 3...It's a Sunday....I thought no refrigerator repair place will be open if I call but at least I'll leave a message and I'm sure someone will call me back on Monday. I'm not working right now, so having a repair person come out to my home plus repairs is an expense I am not prepared for. I left my name and number on Jeff's phone and thought someone will call me back tomorrow. To my surprise my phone rang about 2 minutes later. It was Jeff !!! He started to ask me some questions about the fridge. We talked for about 7 or 8 minutes as he had me check certain things for temperature and explained to me what things do in the fridge. Unfortunately there are people out there that would take advantage of people (even more so women) who are unfamiliar with something that needs to be fixed. And charge them an arm and a leg for things they really don't need. Jeff's A-1 Appliance Repair is a stand up, honest business. Jeff did not push a visit nor did he push any repairs. He made some suggestions to me and I will try those suggestions as soon as my fridge empties a little bit more. Jeff didn't have to do that, he could have just said "In order to make an assessment I must first inspect the refrigerator"...and charged me for at least a visit. After my fridge empties a little, I will try what Jeff told me to try and I will go from there. That will probably let me know what I need to be replaced and how much that will be...and I definitely will bring it back to Jeff's A-1 Appliance Repair. read more

We called Jeff to fix our washer. It took them several days to come out and "fix" the washer. The very next day I went to use the washer and it's still leaking. That was 1 week ago. We have called them several times about the issue and they promised to come out. They came one day before calling and of course we weren't home. We called they said not to worry and they will come tomorrow between 8-10am. We get a text about 9am saying he has truck problems and will be out tomorrow. Well tomorrow has come and gone, no call back no text messages we have called all day long and get VM. I'm very upset I spent $130 to fix my washer that isn't working. At least have the curtesy to call and say you can't make it. I been 2 weeks without a washer. Don't use this company at all they are unreliable and lack basic customers service skills. They finally came back to our house 2 weeks ago. 1. They claimed they didn't know the repairman that came to my house 2. They stated the hose that was installed had a hole in it 3. They promised they would come back to fix it We still haven't heard from them. We called a few days ago they apologized again that they would be out to fix it. We have called they several times and they still have avoided calling us back or coming to fix the hose. It's going on 30days since they been to my house and $130 later still isn't fixed. read more

They are not always immediately available, but that's because they are busy. However, they are worth the wait -- one or two days. Not a big deal. Why? DO NOT USE THESE GUYS Would not ever use these guys again. They took several months to get parts and then got the wrong part. They blamed the manufacturer, but in the end I discovered it was they're incompetence. Then during one of the multiple trips to work on the machine they created a rip in the rubber seal and blamed me. From the first time that the touched the machine it was just one problem after another, but they always blamed me and charged me for extra service calls. I then had them change the pump in the washer, still not sure that was the problem, but the pump they said was the right pump had to be altered, with my help, with a dremel tool to fit properly. During the whole repair they kept asking "do you think I should do this or that" What the heck was I paying this idiot for. Two month later the same problem with the pump. Because it was supposedly under warranty I called them back, set up an appointment, they never showed and did not bother to call. When my wife called him the owner was very rude and dismissive to my wife and told her he would charge $95 for another service call. He said the new problem was probably her using too much detergent, RIGHT, our fault again. The $1500 Samsung is now headed to the dump. read more

My LG refrigerator was no longer cooling so I called B & D Appliance Repair Service first and left a message (never heard back), then called Jeff and also left a message. Jeff called me back within 5 minutes. I told him what kind of refrigerator I have, how old it is, and what the problem was. He gave me a couple possibilities of what might need to be done along with prices. He told me he'd be able to come out the next morning between 8:30 am - 11 am and we set up an appointment. He called me at 8:30 am the morning of the appointment to let me know he was on his way. When he arrived, he took a look at my fridge, tested the compressor itself (which was fine) and tested the relay capacitor for the computer (which was the culprit), and was able to tell me what the problem was and how he came to that diagnosis. He had the part in his truck and was able to do the repair on the spot. Jeff informed me that the refrigerator should reach the programmed temperature in about 2-4 hours, which it did. All in all, the diagnosis and repair took a total of 30 minutes. The water line that goes from the valve on the refrigerator unit to the water connection in the wall was also leaking on both ends due to worn seals. Unfortunately Jeff didn't have that particular water line in his truck but he did tell me where I could get one, which one to get, and how to install it (advising not to over-tighten). Thanks to Jeff's advice, I was able to replace the water line myself the next day. Jeff was friendly, efficient, professional, and knew what he was doing. The repair he performed is backed by a 5-year warranty for the part, 30-day warranty on the labor. If I have another appliance in need of repair, I am definitely calling Jeff again. read more

I called this company on a Saturday after a holiday. They returned my call right away and asked me a number of questions over the phone regarding my problem. Jeff made a couple of suggestions as to what might be wrong with my refrigerator and asked me to do a simple test to establish what problem of the two it was. I really appreciate him taking the time to do this and even though I'm not an appliance repair person, I bet he's right. I have an appointment scheduled for Monday because this isn't a cooling 911. The rates he quoted me for parts & repair were reasonable. My experience so far has been good and I decided to call Jeff & Sons based on the other positive reviews here. I have used Jeff and son for idk, a decade? Both at home and at the office. He and his son have always been great, until lately. Please don't put a phone number on your business card/magnet that goes to a cell phone that does not accept messages and tells YOU to try again later. Also, most people assume they can text a cell phone. I understand that some people may still prefer flip phones. But when a good and loyal customer is confused and concerned and has an issue, you don't just tell them to call someone else and hang up! You work it out and resolve the situation. If this was my 1st experience I would be giving only 1 star. I thought about calling back, as I am actually concerned over the out of character experience, but he was pretty definite, so, ok, going elsewhere. Shame. read more

My refrigerator went out and I needed some quick help. Tried several other appliance repair shops and many wouldn't either work on my model or couldn't respond for as long as 3 weeks. Jeff responded the very next morning. He was on time, diagnosed a circuit board problem within minutes, took the board home with him, performed the necessary repairs, returned an hour later to install the board and had the refrigerator up and running like new. We had a scheduled appointment to repair our washer; but no one showed up or called to reschedule.

Our experience with them was totally disappointing. Our microwave was sparking so they came out to do an estimate. We were told it needed a new wave guide and it'd be $125. He asked for $50 for the service call and he would order the part. We didn't hear back from him. After several calls to him, he came back almost two weeks later and fixed it. We paid him the remaining $75. He said he'd warranty the part for 5 years but, if it kept sparking, he'd refund us the $75. A few days later, it was sparking again. I called him and he said to give it a few more days and to call back and he'd refund the $75. The microwave started sparking constantly and I called him back. My wife and I called every day for a week but never heard from him. I finally just canceled the check but still never heard from him. I wish I'd read the reviews before calling him out. The complaints all seem to be the same. read more

Horrible customer service!!! Our fridge went out last night so my landlord called Jeff first thing this morning. We were told it was not a problem and he would be out to our house within an hour..... two hours later nothing, so we call him and leave a message for him, 45 mins later he finally calls back and tells us he can't make it to us for another two days!!!! We tell him that won't work we need this fixed right away all our food is in coolers, he tells us "well, that's really not my problem is it!" How is this guy still in business? These guys are super nice, when my oven fritzed out on a Friday afternoon I called them and they talked me through a couple quick fixes. Throwing the breaker for 5 minutes worked!!! Any other appliance repair I have ever used would have just set up an appointment on Monday and I would have been out an oven for the weekend and out $75 on Monday. I also found Jeff & Sons Appliance Repair after a Google search for my area. The first 2 reviews influenced my decision to contact him. As a woman I am concerned with being taken advantage of due to lack of knowledge. In the past I have been quoted extremely high prices for repairs that actually costs a few dollars. As stated above Jeff asked detailed questions and made suggestions in order to rectify the situation myself (he did not push a visit for a fee). When it was determined a visit was necessary he was prompt and very courteous. He solved the problem (which was less $ than predicted) and gave me a 30 day warranty, and the money paid would go toward any future issues within 30 days , if the repair did not hold. The first thing was he was completely professional, I called about our fridge that had recently stopped cooling the food. I had a fridge that wasn't working (not keeping things cold) he said "will someone be there between 8-10am?" I said "yes, and thank you for coming out so quickly." He said "not today, I said Tuesday." No, no he did not and then I said "I really need someone today." He was very rude and said "do you want me tomorrow or not?" I said "okay let's make the appointment" then he replied which floored me "No, if you're not going to keep the appointment then I don't want to make it, I don't want to have any openings tomorrow morning if you cancel." SERIOUSLY??!?!? This is the way you treat a new customer. I will live out of an ice chest before I use these guys if this is the way they behave and their "customer service" is!! read more

I contacted this repair service after reading reviews on google on November 24, 2016 to repair our refrigerator ice dispenser. He said he would be here between 9 and 10 am on Saturday the 26th. He showed up, bringing his father with him at 10:15 am. He was very courteous and gave me an estimate of $125 to $140 total to fix it. Said he would order the part and if it were available locally he would contact me in 3 to 4 days and if he had to get it out of state it would be about 10 days. He called the part an actuator. He asked for a check to order the part etc. I did not hear from him for over 2 weeks and began to call him leaving messages on his answering machine. I called a total of about 6 times and he never returned any of my calls and since it was the holidays we thought maybe he was out of town, etc. At the end of January we went to his address and my husband went to the door while I stayed in the car. He told my husband: That we had the wrong person - he was never there. Maybe it was his brother as he is also a repairman Then said he remembered the service call specially as he showed me what was wrong and I told him that I would glue it and tried to talk me out of gluing it and I paid him the $30 service charge and he left. My husband asked him why he never returned our calls, he said there was no reason to. My husband told him that we had a cancelled check for $100 and he said that that wasn't possible. My husband asked him to let wait and he would get me out of the car to verify statements etc. He refused. He said he would look at his copy of the invoice and if I had given him a check for $100, he would call us . Husband asked him to go get the invoice while he wait. He refused. When we got home he had left a lengthy message on our answering machine ( I have saved that recording) and said that yes we did give him $100 and to let us know what we wanted him to do. - he could finish the job or return $70 to us. He also said that he remembered he spent hours on the phone trying to find the part and couldn't locate it.... ( I now see that he wrote the wrong serial number on the invoice) I returned his call and left a message that under the circumstances we wanted him to return the $70. We have waited for several weeks and he has not returned the $70. I left two more messages stating that we were still waiting for his check. On February 6, I left a message telling him that we would give him one more week to return our $70 or I was going to contact the Calif State License Board and leave bad reviews on goggle and yelp. He called stating that he mailed that to us the very day he got our message, but he would bring us another $70 on Monday, February 13th ..... We have not received that check but he did call and ask us to return the call, which I did the same day and we have not heard from him or received the check.... FYI.. I found the part on Amazon - it is called a lever dispenser for $85... I had the part in two days... We called another repair service to install it, who charged us $65... I now see on Google that he has listed his repair service as Permanently closed... But that is apparently not true... read more

For the love of Yelp... I sincerely hope my review doesn't get filtered again because it's important to know there's a reputable appliance repair service in the AV. My original review was as follows: "Long story as short as I can make it, I met Jeff after searching far and wide for another appliance repair service after having a few disappointing experiences with a company I'd trusted for 10+ years. I called him to come out to take a look at my dryer, which had started making enough noise to wake the dead. He came out, took apart the dryer, found the issue and replaced it. The repair was fast, affordable and made Jeff my "go to guy" for appliance repair. I've since called him for the washer at my office and although that washer was a total lemon from the get go and the repair wasn't practical, he recommended a superb replacement that finally meets our needs. I read the previous comments and had to put my experiences out there since Jeff is NOT that guy who just comes in, charges a bunch and doesn't provide good service. He's professional, courteous, knowledgeable and honest. His services are affordable (c'mon people, things aren't free, duh!) and if he doesn't think the repair is a good investment vs. replacement, he tells you up front. What more could anyone ask for? Thank you Jeff!!" Since then, I had to call Jeff to schedule an appointment at my office for our dryer (it decided it would attempt to dry the laundry using no heat) and his brother, Dave, was the service technician. Left messages over a three week period and never got a response. All I needed was to convert a gas dryer to LPG. Oh well their loss.

I knew something was wrong with my fridge but when he came out to see it he told me if it kept the temperature at what was set nothing was wrong with it. A few days later the problem persisted and we called him again. He told us that he had checked with the manufacturer and that nothing was wrong with our fridge. A few weeks passed and now it isn't holding the temperature anymore. The repair will now cost over $300. I can't help but wonder if initially this could have been corrected easily and cheaply had he just known what he was talking about from the beginning. Don't call this guy if you have a GE appliance! read more

I don't know what the deal is with all these other people's bad reviews... Sometimes we need to remember that people are human ( not robots) and not every experience is going to be as perfect as you are (haha) my fridge broke. Called them, they were at my house within 15 min. Took him less than 20min to find a magnet underneath stopping the compressor from working. I recommend these guys ALL THE TIME! They got two stars simply because they are friendly. I called them when my washer was not draining water they came out the same day Jeff took only 10 minutes to replace the part and he showed me what was wrong. That part was all fine. but he charges me 150.00..... I googled the part on several sites and found the part was only 8 dollars..... I understand having a need to charge a minimum hourly rate but was the hourly rate 142.00? I felt ripped off. Even when I called for a quote on an A/C wire from him, he quoted me 60+ more then his competitors. Very disappointing read more
