They offer a daily special - burrito with a choice of chicken or shredded beef, served with a side of rice, beans, and chips. I did question the extra rice and beans, assuming they were included both inside the burrito and on the side. I wasn't expecting it to be so veggie-filled (grilled onions, peppers etc) , which actually turned out to be a nice surprise. The burrito itself was on the smaller side and packed more vegetables than protein, but the flavors were still good. The salsa bar was incredible, offering a variety of flavors, although they were a bit mild, probably to cater to the local community's taste. We have been going to this location for a long time but have not been back for a few months and totally forgot about them. Stopped by tonight for the National Burrito Day. Hubby had the Ultimo burrito with chicken and I had the Diablo burrito with chicken and without the tortilla. Delicious food, as always. Few burnt pieces of chicken but their grilled chicken is always so tasty. I cut out the burnt pieces. I usually do not like mexican rice but theirs was very good and not dry at all, like other places. The manager, which has been there forever, brought the food out quickly. The gal that took the order was nice and friendly. Told her I did not want the tortilla for my burrito but would rather have it in a bowl instead. She was quick to ask me if I wanted any lettuce with the bowl. That was great. Yes, please! And that's service. Their salsa bar is always fresh and clean, with a good variety of salsa. Great food. We've been coming to Baja Fresh for years and they are consistent regardless of which special they're running. The guys cook everything to order and they're very knowledgeable and friendly. It looks as if they've made the space smaller and added outside seating to the side of the building which is a very nice addition. We have ordered from them several times for catering parties because we love their taco bar; marinaded shrimp, grilled beef, pulled chicken, and fresh roasted veggies. This is definitely our neighborhood 'go-to' for weekdays when we don't want to cook. It had been years since I have eaten at Baja Fresh so when my husband suggested it for a weekday lunch I thought why not. I was first off surprised at how old and shabby the interior of the restaurant was. It struck me as just not being well-maintained. The employees working were nice and friendly. I ordered crispy fish tacos (came with beans/rice) and my hubby ordered a bowl. My tacos were bland and uninteresting. I was really surprised at the low quality of their food! I compare them to Rubios and I would take Rubios any day of the week over what I had at Baja. Just awful! My big favorite is Baja Fish Taco in Laguna Niguel which is amazing. The salsa bar was self-serve with cups and caps ...however now with Covid they are pre-filled and they ask you what type you would like. Now get this ... Went here today to pickup some food for my roommates & myself. Was pretty disappointed that my grilled VEGGIE burrito turned out to be 99.5% full of just black beans. That's it. Just some wet beans. No onion, no chili, no cheese, no guacamole or rice that I asked them to add,or even the things I asked them to take out, like the peppers & pico de gallo- nothingggg (like full list of ingredients COMPLETELY omitted for beans- do you understand my disappointed as my roommates eat happily in front of me? *cries*). I was expecting to pick out the peppers or something cuz they'd accidentally add it like most restaurants do whenever you modify your order in some way, shape or form; but this was a new level of just straight up "no" in my book. I kept the receipt so my roommates could see how much they owed me for their food thankfully!!! I was taken care of right away. As Baja Fresh's go, this is a great choice. The service is usually great and although the inside is a tight squeeze, there is a nice patio area with additional seating. I'm not a huge fan of any of their menu items, but adding their fresh pico de gallo to any of them definitely makes them yummier! read more

I'm pretty much a regular at this place, and we always dine in. I have been a Rubio's fan for years and long before it became Baja fresh Mexican Grill. However, tonight's experience left much to be desired. When we got home, our fish tacos were cold and soggy, the usually creamy beans were mashed and chunky, and it just didn't feel like the same cook had been at the helm. I'll go back, but I won't dare to order take out-because by the time you get it home, you don't know what you've got, and it's not very fun to trek back 30 minutes later. I really love this spot. Everything is FRESH, served to your liking & constant good food. The restaurant is clean & always service with a smile. My favorite person is the manager Carmelo. Definitely one of the best run chain Mexican Grills. The food is excellent, fast and fresh. Customer service ok and it's clean. A little too Corporate clean. It doesn't have character like Rubio's it's direct competitor for my favorite chain Mexican grill. This location is pretty awkward. You should have the kitchen against the back wall. Having never been to a "bad" location, I can't tell if this place is right on par with all the other Baja Freshes in the world, or leaps and bounds ahead of them. So on the scale of Baja Fresh establishments, this place gets 5 stars. On the scale of Baja Fresh as an individual Mexican entity compared to all other independent Mexican establishments it gets 4 stars, because it's good, and it's fresh, but to call it the best Mexican ever? eh...maybe this is just my bias against chain restaurants. The service here really is fantastic. I've always been greeted right as I enter by someone behind the register and am never rushed to order. The food comes out quickly, there's never been a mistake with my order, and everything seems to be made right there in front of you. And who doesn't love a salsa bar...this place covers the gamut of flavors and spiciness while also including lime slices, chopped cilantro, and diced onions. Baja Fresh has always been my favorite of the Mexican chains. I'm a fan of the burritos enchilado style, the carnitas tacos, the tortilla soup, the nachos, and now the tortas.
