My wife and I were walking along the beach trail in Laguna Beach around 3pm on Memorial Day, and decided to stop somewhere for a late lunch with an ocean view. We chose this restaurant because it wasn't busy and there were several ocean-view tables available. When we checked in at the register, I specifically asked for an ocean-view seat. The waiter told us he couldn't guarantee it, even though I could clearly see multiple open tables. He claimed they were fully booked but said he would "do his best." After waiting about 15 minutes, we received a text saying our table was ready. However, the waiter took us to an awkward corner table where the ocean view was mostly blocked by a fence. I politely asked if we could sit at another available table with a much better view, but the waiter told me that section didn't have a waitress assigned to it, so it wasn't available. My wife and I were hungry, so we reluctantly accepted the table. But about five minutes later, we watched another group -- who had checked in after us -- get seated at the exact table I originally requested. At that point, it was obvious we had been misled. We were extremely disappointed and decided to leave without eating. Easily one of the worst dining experiences and customer service experiences we've had. We will not be coming back. read more

Came here recently having discovered and only seen this place on Google maps, and surprised to see this low of a yelp rating lol. Well, I enjoyed it here :) my party came for weekend brunch on a beautiful day. 5 stars for the whole experience, 4 for the food. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of windows, spacious interior, and facing the ocean. Highlights of the food were the jalapeno cornbread, steak and lobster enchiladas (a little pricy but considering the protein I guess it's normal, the salsa was amazing though) and also enjoyed the burger and crab omelette. Overall prices for brunch considering the niceness of this place was pretty reasonable. Service was good. This seems like a perfect place for a boozey brunch, would definitely do that if I lived closer! Parking lot valet was full when we came. Had to find street parking a few blocks over. read more

TLDR: Amazing beach view, kind server doing his best, but overall disorganized service, long waits, and mediocre food. Great place for pictures -- maybe eat beforehand. First off, I genuinely felt bad for our server because he seemed overwhelmed and was taking the heat for issues that clearly went beyond one person. He stayed patient, respectful, and kind the entire time, which we appreciated. The manager, however, seemed more focused on shifting blame to the server and kitchen staff rather than acknowledging the obvious lack of communication and organization overall. When she went down to "check on us" it didn't seem like she wanted to speak to us and was kind of just walking around "waiting" to be flagged down. There were other several angry tables as well. To their credit, they did offer complimentary dessert and reduced our bill by about 50%, which we appreciated. Ambiance: Honestly, the best part of the experience and probably the only reason why they get 2 stars (and some for our kind server). Beautiful beach view and plenty of spots nearby to walk around and take cute pictures while waiting for your food... and waiting... and waiting. Service: We sat down and weren't offered water for quite a while. Our server was difficult to find throughout dinner, and we had to flag someone down multiple times just to place orders, get water, utensils, etc. I'm assuming he was stretched thin with too many tables. Some of us had no utensils or napkins and ended up improvising with appetizer forks and spoons from the oysters. One person finally received a fork after everyone else had already finished eating. Asking bussers for help was unfortunately pointless because they rarely came back. We were also told the general manager would come speak with us after our concerns were brought up, but that never happened. Food: Everything took an extremely long time to arrive, including drinks -- we actually canceled some because they took so long. Most dishes came out lukewarm or cold. The seafood risotto was bland, the "rare" ribeye came out medium-well and overly salty, and there were several order mix-ups. At one point, we received two orders of guac and salsa when we only ordered one. When we mentioned it, the busser casually said "it's okay" and left them on the table anyway. I made a 2:00 PM reservation on a Wednesday and was seated immediately at a table with a breathtaking ocean view. The ambiance alone is worth the visit, but what truly stood out was the overall dining experience. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and refreshingly genuine. Instead of steering us toward the most expensive items on the menu, he offered thoughtful recommendations based on quality and flavor--which I really appreciated. We ordered the lobster enchiladas and the shrimp tampiqueños, and both dishes were exceptional. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, but the highlight was easily the white wine garlic sauce on the tampiqueños--it was absolutely outstanding. To finish, we had the cheesecake, which was the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. WARNING: DECEITFUL tipping practices! Suggested tip amounts printed at bottom of check are inflated. Our total with tax was $200. The bill showed $44 for a 20% tip - that's 22% of the taxed total and 24% of the subtotal. We only noticed because when the server took our credit card, he asked if he should add a 20% tip. We were surprised but agreed, then noticed the tip he gave himself was higher than 20%. When we told him this, he said he used what was printed at the bottom. That's when we saw that all the suggest tip amounts were inflated. This is either a system-wide error or an unscrupulous way to mislead guests to leave bigger tips. We told the manager, who replied that no one is forced to leave anything. We also found out that our server got someone's order wrong, then told the manager that we didn't like the dish. Dishonesty and suspicious practices throughout the restaurant. Buyer beware! The view is nice and drinks were good. Food was decent, not amazing, and overpriced because of the location. And the service was uneven - the server disappeared for long periods. But because of the questionable business practices, I would not recommend Las Brisas. read more

We wanted to find a beachfront romantic restaurant and Las Brisas at Laguna Beach was perfect. We made sure our reservations were in time for the sunset with outdoor seating. Parking is very difficult between 5p-6p on a Saturday night in April so make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes early. We were seated right away and our server Danira was great. Very genuine and attentive. We ordered Cadillac Margarita and a Thyme for shine ( gin cocktail). Both were tastee. The guacamole for appetizer wasn't the best, I would suggest not to order it. The foot is a Mexican fusion with many tasty options. My only feedback is that there are not a lot of options for vegetarians who don't eat fish. I ended up getting the vegetable salad and it was more like a cucumber salad. I was surprised that there were no leafy greens, yet we still called it a salad. I'd love to see some other vegetarian options in the future. Like cauliflower tacos with a spicy chipotle sauce or something like that. Overall, great food, fantastic service and beautiful views. Let's be real... the views are the main reason to come here. Stunning oceanfront setting, super aesthetic, & just a short walk to the beach. Perfect spot if you want a nice ambiance or somewhere to bring out-of-town guests for the scenery alone. We started with the bone marrow appetizer! The lobster didn't taste that fresh either. Flavor-wise it was fine, just not something I'd come back for. The roasted chicken, though, was solid + tender, juicy, & well-cooked. My friend enjoyed it! Upon first entering, Las Brisas looks like an immaculate place for fine dining. It has a great beach view location if you manage to get a good table. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, and our waiter was friendly. We both ordered the Barramundi dish, and decided to add chips and salsa. The chips were sadly stale, and we ended up getting a guacamole added that we didn't order. A surprise, but we typically do not fuss. The guacamole was pretty decent, although definitely nothing special for $16. There was no offer to refill the chips, and the amount provided was clearly insufficient for the salsa and guacamole. Sadly, we were not offered to even refill our water. That part was disappointing. The fish was perfectly fried and had a good balance of crisp skin and tender flesh, and underneath was a bed of chimichurri and two masa biscuits. The "micro herb salad" was decorative at best. It comes with no sides, so bear this in mind. I get they're trying to lean on the gourmet approach, but I've been to gourmet restaurants with more attentive service and better portions or at least sides. The dessert was where Las Briasas shined! We ordered a Tres Leches cake ($13), and admittedly this was a great choice. Not too sweet, and not too soggy. Just right and it was the right size for two to share! A must try! I wanted to give this place a 5. Sadly, it has room for improvement. I give it a 4 overall. Definitely worth noting that pay parking ($2.50 / hr) is available nearby up to 7PM. After that it's free. Came here with a group of friends as we were staying nearby and our experience here was interesting to say the least. We made reservations earlier that day and came at our reservation time. The initial interaction with the hostess was a little bit weird since she was stumbling with her words and then she pointed and verbally directed us on where to go to find the "second hostess" which we thought was weird. At a place of this caliber, you'd think she'd walk us to where we needed to go, but no worries. We ended up talking to someone else who ended up seating us and also asked if we had reservations (which we had already told the first hostess). Not really a clear form of communication from the get go! Then, I think our experience got even more odd after our server, Sean (Shawn?)) introduced himself. We felt that during our entire dining experience, he was a bit awkward and made a few pauses and comments that were just straight up off. At some point he sort of question our ordering of food stating that he was thinking if it was going to be enough food for us. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where the server made a comment about that (unless of course we ourselves asked). In the end, what we ordered was sufficient and we were all full, but I thought it was odd. Also, he had mentioned that the guacamole can be varied based off of the spicy levels. We went for a hot level and it was not spicy to us at all. Would have thought that he would have followed up with us asking if it was a good level for us, but nope. My friends were also coming back from the restrooms at some point and asked him how his day was going and he replied with "weird" and that's it. Like what?? Anyways, food-wise... we would give it a solid 3.7/5. There were some things that stood out, but overall we weren't like overly impressed. The Tomahawk to me was not worth the price point. I had high hopes to enjoy the New Years Pre fixe menu that they offered but sadly disappointed. The food was very mediocre as the rest of my party agreed as well. Service: 10/10 our server was very attentive and conversed well with light heartedness conversations. He paid attention to detail well to try to make our dining experience pleasant. He was understanding and accommodating to our requests to send our filet mignon back for a Re-fire as well but after it being raw for the second time we didn't want to be more of a bother. The hostess was also very sweet and accommodating as well. Food: 3/10 started off with the caprese and chicken flautas. Caprese is hard to mess up so I have no key notes on that dish. Chicken flautas- the whole dish itself was missing key flavoring components, but overall bland. The skin itself was way too thick making it soggy, guacamole was fresh but had no other flavor than lime. Main course- short rib with risotto and the filet mignon. Short rib itself was dry and overly salty including the risotto which I think was heavily salted and overly powered by a certain herb. I don't think the flavor components meshed well together at all. The filet mignon simply seasoned with salt and pepper, but it was served raw when asked for medium rare, we sent it back twice but afterwards and our server asking for a Re-fire we weren't longing to wait any longer that evening. When it came out I could tell the filet was blasted with high heat burning it instead of a good sear while the inside was still raw. Dessert was lava cake and the flan which was enjoyable. The eggs Benedict were terrible, with little Hollandaise sauce, and the toasted English muffin was hard and greasy; the meat was Farmer John-sliced fatty ham. The fingerling potatoes were hard as rocks- They could've been sliced in half and seasoned properly, but overseasoned and overcooked is not good. If you order pancakes, you only get a small stack. Oh, and the waiter was not a happy person. I don't feel he wanted to be there - he didn't seem to enjoy his job - not a people person, at all. The ambience is all you get: a beautiful ocean view. I came here on a late Saturday afternoon on a date and had a very lovely time. They sat us promptly right next to the windows overseeing the roses, and we have an amazing view of the ocean. This wasn't my first time going to Las Brisa's, but it stood out because it was my first time having food from their dinner menu. We ordered the chips and salsa, Caesar salad, tuna poke, and salmon. Interestingly, they gave us two plates of chips (which was honestly too much). The food was excellent - the tuna and salmon were well prepared with no lingering fishy scent, and the Caesar salad was quite normal. I especially enjoyed the small pieces of mango that came with the tuna poke and the vegetables that came with the salmon. Overall, such a great experience. I'm more inclined to come during this quiet period, as the atmosphere of the restaurant was more relaxed and pleasant. read more
