If you're on your way to shop at Hmart or Mekong, you have to make a stop at Bak & Jo. It sits alongside a thrift store. Hubs and I came here on a Saturday morning and it wasn't busy. There are many food and drink options to choose from. I ordered a banh mi sandwich with their pork belly and my husband ordered their breakfast sandwich with bacon. Both were prepared in their freshly baked baguettes. Although the pork belly was a bit salty for my taste, I still enjoyed my meal. The Thai tea is on the milkier side but delicious. The ambiance is very inviting and clean. I appreciated the games available for groups and kids to play with. The prices are also very reasonable. We left full and happy. We will definitely be back!

Love their matcha! I got it with rose syrup one time and it was good. I like to come here when I go to the antique mall next door. They also have multiple baked goods to choose from as well.

This is a great little hangout spot. I love that there are tons of board games, pin trading, and casual lounging. During this visit I had a Vietnamese coffee, which was strong and sweet. The pistachio and hazelnut croissants were delicious (obviously since I couldn't get a picture before digging in) and served warm. I have been here just a couple times, so I was having a hard time deciding between some drinks. The gentleman at the register offered a few great suggestions. The people here are so friendly!

The service here was exceptional. Jo himself helped us and explained the menu and highlighted his favorites. I noticed several nods to Yelp nominations posted near the register, including something about Yelp Elites loving this place. Jo helped us decide what to order, and we landed on the Banana Bread Matcha (the homemade banana syrup was delicious but the matcha was still quite overpowering and earthy) and the Vietnamese Coffee (very strong but we got half sweet so that might be our fault). We also got a chocolate chip cookie sandwich from a separate baker whose goods they carry. When we got our order, Jo gave us a peppermint "smackaron" on the house. There was a couple lounging on the sofa inside, kids playing with some toys in their little play area, and people working from various tables. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves.

I love Bak & Jo. I believe the worker's name is Sou, and she is always so sweet. She's always welcoming me in and making my drinks absolutely amazing. The banana bread matcha is my new obsession, and I've been ordering it every time lately. I recommend you get it with oat milk because it makes it taste creamier and is soo soo good!! I also love getting some work done there. The space is very spacious, and the music is at the perfect volume - not too loud. I also saw that they were awarded one of Yelp's Top Places to Eat, which is so well deserved! Definitely recommend!

Had to find a coffee shop to work at and stumbled upon Bak and Jo when my standard shop closed early. I'm not sad about it. This spot is a clean, classic, welcoming space for people to enjoy good coffee, pastries, and each other. I ordered an iced vietnamese coffee. It was a perfect balance of a delicate sweetness by the strength of the coffee. I wished I ordered a pastry. They have a pistachio crossiant that was trying to lure me through the display case. The staff are friendly and our order came very quickly. This may be my new spot to work at.

Really cute spot! I had the Banana Bread Matcha and it was delicious! There are also antique shops right next door that are really neat! Definitely will be coming back (:

Super friendly atmosphere, great selection of fresh food and great ingredients. The fresh best cookies and pastries!! We had a wonderful time with games for the whole family. We're from CA and hope to be back when we are in town. Thank you for great hospitality!!

I've had nothing but good food, good coffee, and good vibes from Bak & Jo! The shop has a very chill, inviting atmosphere and the selections here for food and drink are always appealing. There is no extra charge for alternative milks and there are good vegetarian and vegan options available. The tofu scramble is excellent, as well as the mint latte. You can definitely taste the house-made mint syrup and the coffee is super smooth. The tofu scramble has just the right amount of seasoning and you won't miss the egg at all in this breakfast dish. Service has always been very welcoming and friendly. There are several tables available for indoor dining and along the wall there is often local art for sale.

Bak & Jo Bakery and Coffee is such a cute spot. The space is surprisingly big with lots of cozy seating, including couches, plus areas to hang out, play games, and relax. They have a great selection too. Croissants, sandwiches, desserts, cakes, coffee, tea, and even a little gaming area. The whole place feels really welcoming and community oriented. I loved all the Polaroids of happy customers around the shop. It gives the place so much personality. Even though I walked in right at 7 AM, the woman working was incredibly kind and helpful. Such a friendly start to the morning. Definitely a great place to grab coffee, something sweet, and hang out for a bit.

Seriously amazing as always! I don't live super close so I don't make it out here as often as I'd like, maybe once a month, but I LOVE it. My favorite is their tofu banh mi. The spicy mayo/tofu is SO GOOD. I also love the normal pastries and the gluten free goodies. I had a pb&j macaron today that was to die for. Also the workers here are SO nice. I just love this place!

Butterfly pea strawberry lemonade and oreo/ube macron
    Teresa A.

The butterfly pea strawberry berry lemonade is so pretty and I felt like I was magical when mixing it making it a pretty pink purple color! 10/10 recommend this lemonade. I would get it again for sure. The employees are really nice and helpful when trying to make a decision. The macrons are super cute and tasty and my friend and I shared a blueberry muffin and it tasted so buttery good warm. Thanks for a great experience!

    Ube Latte

The place was really unexpected. Tucked away in a plaza in Mesa I found this place. The inside was bigger than expected and mix of minimal but meant for people to hang out at. The staff was nice and explained how they made their drinks. I've had dozens of ube lattes before but asked them to walk through since the menu didn't have descriptions. That's one thing I wish places did, not just here but a lot of other places too. The lady taking my order was super nice and explained it. They do have bakery items and food but I just tried the latte. It was delicious and not sweet. I've had places try to mask the ube flavor with other sugary ingredients but here it was well balanced and pleasant.

We arrived for breakfast and the place was packed. Even so, we were seated within a few minutes. Menus were brought for us to peruse. For a starter we both had a large glass of cranberry juice. $3. Emphasis should be on the word large, as in most places you would get a small glass for the same price. Companion ordered the "Fresh Start", which is a big bowl of oatmeal which comes with cranberries, raisins, walnuts, brown sugar, and milk ($6). Companion was unable to finish it all. For myself, I had the Hawaiian omelet which had ham, bacon, pineapple, and mozzarella cheese. While I must admit I have never before had an omelet with these ingredients, it was delicious and big. I could not finish it all. The coffee was bottomless and the service was excellent. Unlike many other places that serve breakfast, we were made to feel truly at home, with friendly people all around. We will be going back again and again, possibly for lunch next time. This is a new favorite place to eat for us. Sanitation was good and food came out quickly. 5 stars.
