What an enjoyable stay. The rooms are well-appointed and clean, and there are so many options at the Inn. The owner was kind to accommodate a few requests and she was very personable and knowledgeable of the area. We could only stay one night but we hope to be back for 3+ nights soon. read more

My husband and I went in August 2022. We didn't have a reservation for dinner but they were very nice and squeezed us in. Our waitress was friendly and on point. The chef provided some extra plates throughout the meal. We ordered a salad with watermelon and they gave us a snack before the salad arrived. We also got a small dessert before the dessert we actually ordered arrived. I felt like the food just kept on coming! It was all delicious! read more

For Brunch with Reservations CONS: Back of the house Egg entrees at same table were visibly inconsistent in cook, portion size and plating. Of the three smoked salmon and goat cheese entrees- one a beatifully sliced 1/5th of a 10" pie with a smoked salmon rose and thyme garnish. Next plated smoked salmon entrees were a few quarter sized chunks, about 1/2 cup total, of scrambled egg with no discernable smoked salmon or goat cheese either in the dish or garnish. Plated salad was overdressed. Food was not served at its proper temperature. PROS: Front of House Wait Staff was infinitely adept and professional. Sadly, all their hard work couldn't make up for the inconsistent back of house performance. Deliciously warm strawberry and blueberry muffins, chocolate chunk bread, and scone in bread basket. Berry jam and softened butters were a nice touch. Since reservations were taken, not having enough of the four (4) entrees offered was poor planning and expediting.. read more

This place is AMAZING! Menu changes daily so don't get stuck on one thing (damn you, mushrooms in Ted whine sauce) because they likely won't have it the next time you go back. The owner/chef is a wizard when it comes to EVERYTHING. Also I don't know when he sleeps because everything is made in house including the bread, the seasoned butter, the smoked fishes, and the sauces (did I mention the mushroom and red whine sauce) You will wait for your food because nothing is pre made. This is the freshest of fresh with seasonal, local ingredients. So order a specialty cocktail from the drink menu and sit back and relax. You are in for an amazing ride! read more

I can't recommend this restaurant enough to friends and family. I love that it's located in the middle of nowhere, and we always visit either on a Friday or Saturday night. I've been there four times now, and one of the best things about this restaurant is that their menu changes constantly, so it's likely you'll never get the same thing twice. The outside of the restaurant is always nicely decorated with the season, and it being October, they had nice mums and pumpkins lining the porch. Upon entering, staff are first to greet you and make sure that your stay is comfortable. The dining area is small and cozy, and almost makes you feel like your eating dinner at home. We love the exterior and interior of the restaurant, but we come for the food. It's always fresh and they only use produce from local farmers. I had the salmon with lemon butter sauce with capers, parsnip potato purée, and sautéed greens beans. It was phenomenal and I ate the entire thing in one sitting (something I rarely do). My husband had the NY strip with mashed truffle potato. Everything tasted great! Keep in mind though, they are a bit pricy (about $30 an entree). If it wasn't for that, we'd be here every weekend for dinner. But it is fresh and homemade and the cook obviously knows what he's doing. I've never had a meal there that I didn't love. We went there for Brunch. The service was excellent. The food was mixed. I had the Waffles with Chicken, and I was unhappy with the sauce, and the chicken was overcooked. One of my son's had a Egg Dish, kind of like a Quiche, which was excellent. The Waffles with Fruit Sauce was OK, but the bacon was overdone. We were very hopeful, as we had suggested to us as very good, and the reviews were very good. I would try it for dinner, but would not recommend it for Brunch. read more

Well prepared food with unusual combinations that take risks. Kitchen produces hot and attractive plates. That's all the good news. Management and service are unprofessional especially when asking patrons to pay mid$20 to $40 a plate. Bar is cheap with pours -- almost hysterically. Another good meal at BKI but some glitches. Duck was cooked fine but wayyy too much sauce all over it. Looked like it was in a duck bath of goo such that you barely taste the duck. Worst of all was the sound level. Don't go here if you expect to have ANY conversation! It was so loud you couldn't even think with the tables on top of one another. Also, the bathroom for men was so small you couldn't even put a full light switch in it. Would I go back? Yes for a burger at the bar after golf, but not on a weekend with friends. Four jaded Kempton residents had dinner there last night. After years of suffering the slings and arrows of PA Dutch cuisine - finally we had a great meal ! My short ribs were fabulous and brought out the glutton in me, Suze's salmon was apparently excellent (I don't eat salmon in restaurants - Julia's lamb was about a 6 and Jonathan 's strip steak apparently great. Our Pinot Noir, with the ugliest label in. Californian history was good and $28 a bootle. (We had two). Excellent desserts but no espresso - our only disappointment - please don't go here we want to keep it for ourselves read more

Some of THE best food around hands down. I will be a blasphemous "Dutchie" for a second and say that I have never cared for scrapple. Upon one outing to this superb eatery I ordered their scrapple sliders. Never has a food that I loathed been elevated in such a manner. The texture was perfect, it was on the most excellent bun with arugula. .. they used just a bit of apple butter and my taste buds were singing!!! Expect an experience like this in a comfortable atmosphere. My only complaint is my own restraint put upon me by my own work schedule for I would gladly frequent this fine establishment weekly with great delight. read more

Driving around country roads recently, we came across the Bake Oven Inn. It looked quaint & we thought it would be a nice way to finish off our casual day. We were very wrong. We got a major attitude on several occasions for having not made a reservation prior to our arrival. Keep in mind that this place is out of the way. One wouldn't expect them to be hoity-toity, but they were. There were no signs outside that said reservations only & after returning home & checking their website there was no indication that reservations were required either. We gave them our business & hard earned money, but they treated us terribly & with an attitude. To boot, the food was mediocre. We will never go there again. read more

Absolutely fabulous. They are celebrating their 7year anniversary of offering incredibility wonderful food that always amazes and delights the senses from appetizers to desserts.
