These are the donuts my wife craves! We live much closer to Krispy Kreme, but she always reminds me that she doesn't want those doughnuts! Baker Ben's generally has a good supply of donuts available, and they're usually pretty darn fresh! The buttermilk bars are awesome. The traditional glazed are better than average, and the kids really like the sprinkle donuts. Since this establishment is always open, you really can't go wrong giving them a try. Terrible customer service! I took my co-worker here today to show him the donut burritos. I ordered an apple and a cherry. I was given a cherry burrito and an apple fritter. When I told the worker he "fixed it". When I went to eat my cherry burrito I noticed they gave me 2 apples. When I went back up to tell them a lady manager literally went up to me grabbed my bag out of my hand, said "let me see what he gave you". She threw away both apples and gave me my correct order. Used to be a great place with good service. No longer. Just went there and selected a jelly filled, then an apple fritter and a bear claw Tgen added a gator aid. Noticed that she was back to me for a bit before bagging my donuts. As soon as i paid she disappeared in the back. Each style of doughnut they offer is always just as light, sweet, crispy, or flaky as it should be. However, the shop can be a bit cramped, and the service can be a bit slow due to a need for dedicated front-end staff. Even so, my wife and I stop in anytime we're in the area. read more

There's a reason cops are stereotyped to frequent donut shops, they're quick, the boost of sugar keeps them going and most including this 24 hour location are open late for them! I gotta say, I loved the place, it reminded me of days LONG past when diners were the norm and not nostalgic... although his place hits all the nostalgic notes. There was a huge selection of donuts, and they're all made fresh in the shop. From cake to yeast, to fill, there's something for everyone. They also have bottled breakfast drinks like milk and juice. In addition to brewed coffee, they offer a small selection of specialized coffee drinks which I'll make sure to try next visit. They were doused with a sugary glaze and some topped generously with sprinkles, all looking right back at me... When we came in and I think it was the owner who greeted us. We asked if we knew what we wanted. I decided to stick to the Old Fashioned chocolate donut. Before my mom decided, the owner had to run around the corner for a moment. As we waited, we were nosey and looked past the register, into the kitchen where the donut fryer was,and saw him flipping the donuts with what looked like chop sticks. Then, he then flipped all the donuts out into a bin, and glazed all the donuts at once with a neat contraption. It was a beautiful art. When he came back, we asked what kind of donuts he was making. He said-"Buttermilk." We decided to try one. My mom also ended up with an Old Fashioned chocolate donut as well. We sat down to enjoy the Buttermilk... IT WAS THE BEST DONUT I HAVE EVER TASTED. I have lived in Roseville my whole life and don't know why I go back just to 'give it another try,' but this place hasn't changed in 20 years. For one, It is filthy dirty! The donuts are decent, but not ideal. They are never in 'perfect shapes' and the frosting is always melted off because they frost them too soon when they are hot. It's a shame because this is such a staple in Roseville and it's been around forever! With new ownership & management perhaps it could be salvaged. Until then I won't be back. read more

I've lived in the area 1 year. I pass by this shop everyday taking my son to school. I've been in about 9-10 times and I sit in the shop for about an hour to get a feel for what's going on; here's the REAL scoop in my opinion. The owner, Ben, is a nice man and seems to care about people. The donuts are very good and fresh. The help, two women, are very unfriendly. They frequently have tense words, they rarely smile, they rarely have eye contact, especially the smaller set woman. I've smiled, said thanks, said good morning, said have a nice day, NOTHING BACK. My gut tells me, after watching Ben for 2 hours, he employs them to help them have jobs in this country. I've never once walked in and had the shop be clean. Floors always need a good sweeping. The windows are ALWAYS DIRTY, I've NEVER seen them clean ( I look everyday). This is one reason I rarely go in, if your not clean, what's going on where you make the donuts? With a good interior cleaning, windows washed daily, a plant by the front door, employee TRAINING or replacement, this place would have MUCH more business. As a past owner of several businesses, this little shop has a great deal of potential, especially if Ben could train his staff or replace with people who really care about his business. I do think he's trying to be a good man and help others but it's at his own demise. Hope this helps. (UPDATE: Back here almost 1 month later. Windows are all clean, tables and floors clean. Went into Baker Ben's last night to grab some doughnuts for my kids. I don't know the exact name of the doughnuts we got because they came right off the tray (freshly made!
