Honey Donuts is our family favorite donut shop! The owner and wife are always so nice and the donuts are amazingggg! We've been coming here for the last 5 years. At one point my daughter asked for donuts for her birthday & this is where we ordered them for her classroom. My favorite is the maple bar & chocolate bar. My husband likes their croissants. I've been to honey donuts, several times over the past few years. I don't purchase donuts often as they are a true treat for me. Recently, I purchased a dozen for my daughter's daycare during teacher appreciation week. The owner is always incredibly kind, but when she heard that it was for a school, she upgraded it from regular donuts to fancy donuts and threw in several donuts holes as well. Overall clean and older classic looking mom and pop shop. Ordered a few regular chocolate donuts and a bacon maple bar. The chocolate layer was light and thin but sweet. The bacon maple bar had bacon on it that tasted candied, and donut was also very sweet. Dough was light and airy, very fresh. Overall, good donuts, definitely for those who loves a very sweet treat. Conveniently located inside a plaza with plenty of parking in front. On the main Laguna street, easy in and easy out. Came here on my way to get a treat and the first thing I noticed was the woman at the counter wasn't wearing a mask. I'll be honest, I was hesitant. There was a plastic barrier that hung between me and her at the counter. She was also very not talkative and didn't come off friendly. I tried this place on a whim, it's up the street from our house and we were craving donuts so I went for it... I'll go elsewhere next time.... I went in and said "I just want a random dozen donuts for a group, I don't care what you pick, just a dozen" and she looked at me like she didn't understand, so I clarified "a dozen, just throw whatever you want in the box, they don't care ..." I've done it a hundred times before at a hundred different donut shops but this lady couldn't comprehend putting random donuts in the box... Now I'd assume there was a language barrier because they were speaking Mandarin to each other (which I understand a little of btw... Watch your mouth around customers) , but she spoke perfect English to me and other customers so I knew that wasn't the case. I don't know what the problem was there but they made me feel like a complete bother for a simple request... So I go to pay and I'm already thinking "never coming in here again!" And I sit my card down on the counter, they had a visa symbol on their windows like almost every other store on the world, so I ASSUMED that was okay... She looks me square in the eyes with a straight face and ask "you don't have cash, we prefer cash?" I tell her no and she SNATCHES the card off the counter and mumbles again "we prefer cash"... I was ready to walk out at that point, but she turned around, slapped the pen and receipt down on the counter then watched me intently as I signed like she didn't trust me, then snatched the receipt off the counter and muttered a thank you... I won't be back... ever. I was kind, courteous, didn't hold up the line, and tried to make it quicker by just saying "give me a random dozen" but apparently simple task are an extreme challenge for these women... I don't get it. Donuts shouldn't be this complicated, and customer service shouldn't be this difficult. Every store on earth takes Visa, I don't understand why it was such a big deal other than them not wanting taxable income. Really weird experience. read more

OMG! Im from South Sacramento, and Bakers and Maries will always have my heart, And these are right up there with them. Kim is so awesome! She always remembers me and greets me when I arrive, always goes above and beyond, (throwing in freebies, hell she even frosted donuts on the spot one time when I came in with my kids after lunch when stock was low and my spoiled ass kids wanted Strawberry frosting LMAO) She is absolutely amazing and the donuts are always great. They are hidden in the back of the Raleys shopping center behind the 7-11 and pizza place and before the post office. I didn't even see a sign but I guess it's there! I ended up getting a Chocolate Old Fashioned, Maple Old Fashioned and Chocolate with Chocolate and Sprinkles Cake Donut. It came to $3.00 and she threw in a few donut holes for free. Nice. My favorite donuts are old fashioned, but these were a little too buttery for my taste. (shocking I know!) I think I actually liked the cake donut better, it had great flavor and not too sweet. Picked up some donuts here for Valentine's Day and wow I was amazed. They were still warm when I got home. They were so delicious and the customer service I received was amazing. I know that they sell out of donuts quick. There was a smaller variety left by the time I got there (around 10 am) but I'd definitely recommend this place. Tried Honey Donuts on Antelope and was pleasantly surprised. I judge the donut shops I visit by their apple fritters and their original glaze donuts. The apple fritters at Honey Donut was hard and crunchy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside. There are nice little chunks of apple and not too strong on the cinnamon, but just right. That's just the way I believe they are supposed to be. The original glaze was firm enough to hold it, but if you hold it too tight, the donut will fold. The inside is fluffy and not not dried out. I also stumbled upon a cinnamon crunch donut and it's basically a glazed donut with cinnamon crunch topping all over it. It's pretty awesome and was a nice surprise. I met Kim, who I think is either the wife of the owner or the owner herself. I didn't ask because during our conversation more customers came in. She was very friendly and even threw in a free donut. Overall a good find for a donut shop and I recommend this donut shop if you're looking for good donuts. They aren't open all day, so get there early or you run the risk of them running out of specific donuts. read more
