Still my go-to spot for donuts when I get a craving! My faves all have a texture & taste that satisfies. The raised are yeasty & tender, but still have a nice bite. The cake donuts aren't dry. The apple fritter has a nice outer crisp & sweetness. The buttermilk bars have a perfectly craggly exterior & are moist inside. I don't find the glazes overly sweet. Service is friendly & patient. My only gripe is that a lot of times, even by mid-morning, the selection can be SO dwindled down. Pay with cash, otherwise there's a $1 credit card fee. read more

This was our first go-to donut shop when we moved to the area. It's a hole in the wall, but the donuts were quite good. The chocolate frosted cake donuts in particular. There's often a line. They typically run low by mid-morning. The prices started to feel a little heavy years ago, and if you pay with a card you get charged another dollar. Mary, the lady that runs the shop, is pleasant and remembers her customers. We found a few other places we liked that were a little further away and usually pretty well stocked til late morning, so we haven't been in a while. But if you're in the area and fancy a donut, they're a good option. read more

Bought a buttermilk bar an a fluffy French swirl donut. $5! Really? I thought maybe that's the going rate everywhere now. Walked into a Safeway 15 minutes later to find that the everyday price for much bigger donuts is $1.19. That's 55% less money. Were these Foothills donuts worthy of the double+ price. Nope. My favorite donut place! Donuts are always super doughy/bread-y inside, which I loveeeee. They always have a little bit of a fresh n mini crunch from being cooked that same morning. The lady that owns the business with her husband is always super nice and quick to the point. It almost like visiting an aunts house, you just get a warm welcoming from her. She is always treating her customers so kindly! Every time I go in, she has regulars that say hi to her. The inside is clean and they have a bunch of items on the menu from coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and donuts. The only thing I dislike is going in past noon and almost all the donuts are out and what's left is the bear claws and cake donuts lol. Now I know to go early! read more

We got a haul of donuts! All the ones I tried were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Depending on the type of donut, I heard that they make them fresh at certain times in the morning. For example, they make the apple fritter at 6am everyday, and it shows! Be there early to increase your chance of getting them the freshest. You can also customize your preference. I was able to ask for chocolate covered and maple covered donut holes! I need to make a pit stop soon to try all the other options. read more

Apple fritter review #26 Glaze: the glaze is thick, almost chewy. I like it. Four stars. Outside: crispy with a crunch here and there. Five stars. Inside: soft, fluffy and moist. Five stars. Filling: there's not a ton of apples but you don't want it too wet either. Four stars. A solid four stars. I try to stop here after getting my parrot's nails trimmed at The Bird Shop for donut holes so he can have half of one as a reward. I've been trying to get one of their fritters for months for a review but they are often sold out, or the whole store is closed early after running out of donuts. Delicious food. I didn't stay to eat as it's not setup that way but the lady at the counter knew her donuts were good when she said I'd be back. I will and have been. Recommendation: take a glazed home and microwave it for 10-15 seconds and add a glass of your preferred milk! Such a simple and delicious combo. We drove by one morning and noticed a line so we had to try it out. It was about 8:20 and it looked like most of the donuts were gone. They had standard donuts like raised and old fashion, and then your specialty like twists and cinnamon rolls. It looked like the flavors were pretty straight forward, compared to some shops that have the crazier flavors. We got an apple fritter and something called a tiger tail. The fritter was crispy and not too oily, and the tiger tail was light and fluffy. Prices were comparable to other shops. It was a nice little donut spot and will definitely try them out again. read more

I love a good donut. It's been a favorite treat for me my whole life. I've really been craving a donut lately so when I happened upon Foothills donuts I had to stop. It was disappointing. The glazed donuts were only iced on three sides and they were greasy. The chocolate iced cake donut was greasy and not worth the calories. I only had a few bites of each of them. And it just so happened to be National Donut Day and they didn't offer any kind of special or freebie. I won't be back. I've been searching for a 'go to' place since moving here. There's a new donut place opening by the new Safeway on Fiddyment. Fingers crossed it's a good one! read more

Here's a list of my favorite donuts: - Bacon Maple Bar - Donut Holes - Custard Donut - Custard Bar You can request a donut to be filled with custard, like I did with the regular Maple Bar. Do that if you love custard. $3.00 for a Fancy Donut (i.e., custard bar, larger or uniquely shaped donuts). $2.50 for a Jelly or Custard Donut (i.e., typical round donut). $1.65 to $2 for other donuts. I feel you have to get up early and be lucky to get your favorite donut at times, but I can always find something I want to eat or to try. You might need to wait in line in the morning or wait for your favorite donut to come out of the oven. Some people call in their orders. The ladies working here are happy to serve. I took my grandma to the dentist nearby and she said we had to stop at this donut shop that it's one of her favorite donuts! The lady that helped us out was super nice and friendly. If you live in Roseville I'm guessing you have been here or will go here sometime. It is one of the only spots that isn't a chain or a grocery store. The customer service is amazing! I don't go here that often but I go here with my kids and the woman behind the counter knows half of the customers by name. The donuts are amazing and the kids love them. It's exactly what you think a donut tastes like. The place is a little small but that's okay. I have never not been able to sit down even with only 4 tables. The only complaint I might have is they are kind of expensive but they are so busy supply and demand is in full effect. We will be back and I'm sure I'll be buying dozens of donuts for the kids sleep overs. read more

Saturday morning rainy day donut blind taste test. So yeah, we sampled donuts from 4 local well known "pink box" donut shops. Over a couple hours of course so no one got sick. As my notes show, it was very detailed and followed a scientific method of course. Congrats to Foothills Donuts as the overall point winner. Mary is the owner and always at the counter. Very nice. Rocklin Donuts & Cinnamon and Jasmine Donuts are both in Rocklin and a close tie for second. Cinnamon is a featured shop that gained regional fame as a top shop. Jasmine was the least expensive. Baker Ben's came in last but one thing we learned was top picks were all over the place (personal preference), so in the end our family suggestion is go to whichever shop is closest too you. If you need donuts, come here!! I kept reading on NextDoor that I needed to try Foothills Donuts, and I finally had the opportunity last weekend when I needed a few dozen for a charity event. When I got there, there were a few people in line, but the two people behind the counter were doing a great job of getting everyone in and out as quickly as possible. The store smells delicious, like a giant donut haha! The people behind the counter have adorable personalities and they were keeping everyone laughing and happy while they put together our orders. Everything was very fresh, with some of the donuts still warm from coming out of the oven! And the donuts were delicious! I enjoyed mine and everyone else complimented the flavor and texture! I can see why so many people recommend this donut shop and it is extra special when I'm able to patronize a local small business! read more

Slim pickings at 10 am on a Sunday. The donuts that I tried were pretty average in general. The apple fritter in particular was fluffy but I wished there was more apple in it. The apple turnover was pretty tasty and flaky; wasn't mind-blowing but did hit the spot. 3 stars overall for the food but I added a star because the ladies behind the counter were really nice. I don't live in Roseville (was just in the area at the time) and maybe this place is the spot to get donuts if you're a local. Wouldn't say it's worth the drive if you live elsewhere. read more

If you price shop between the different independent donut shops this is Most expensive donut shop in the area running almost $20 a dozen, long lines with slow service even at 7:30AM on a weekday, no discounts for buying several dozen, I've come here before mid mornings in the past wanting to try their donuts between 9-11 and seen them completely out of most donuts. There are much better options in the area. Would not consider going out of my way for this donut shop. read more
