Our house had glued down engineered flooring and on top of that was a luxury vinyl plank. Tom and his crew took the two floors up very quickly in all the rooms except bathrooms (they were tiled). We had some damp concrete that set them back a few days - this was not their fault but they worked us in and around their busy schedule too let it dry out. They were conscious in moving our heavy furniture. We always knew what would be happening next. All this was done in a very timely manner. The communication was always superb and they were on time every morning they were here. All of the guys that helped were so nice and fun to have around. They cleaned up the house every time they left. By far the best group of men we've ever had work in our house. The flooring was installed beautifully and is also our favorite of any we've had. Although the flooring is fantastic the real gem here is the men that installed it. read more

My husband and I are recent arrivals to Festival. As part of our process to update our new home, we purchased carpet from Baker Bros. area rugs and flooring. We found them to be incompetent and disreputable. Salesman Brett Mossey came to our home and measured our three bedrooms and closet for top- grade Karastan carpet. His measurements were not accurate, and our installer came up short during installation for the last bedroom. Brett assured us that new carpet would be ordered from the factory for the entire bedroom. He said they would not use the first carpet with a piece from a new dye lot. They lied to us. The installer, who had originally told us that they should not use two different dye lots together, had been instructed to combine the two lots. The result is a blatantly obvious mismatch in color. After spending many thousands of dollars for top grade carpet and installation, we received third rate service and an unwillingness to make it right. Instead of the room looking lovely, it looks like a cheap patch job. The discoloration runs the full length of the room and is outrageously obvious. Baker Bros. area rugs and flooring should be ashamed of themselves. read more

A very long story here. Bottom line - I strongly encourage you to research both the company who will install for you and the product you are purchasing. Do not rely just on the sales person. We were told that the product we picked, which had joint failures in two separate production runs, was "one of their best" and that "this problem had never happened before". When I did my research on that manufacturer (Karastan), I found numerous complaints about their product and the tongue-and-groove joints failing during and after install, which was exactly our experience with the product. My experience with Baker Brothers (BB) and why I will never purchase from them again is, as I said, a very long story with many examples of how I believe BB did not put their customer first. I will summarize with the below, but I am happy to share details if requested. - Communication: 1) sales/customer service - a lot of talk and saying the right things and "I'm so sorry", but no actions or real results. At least not without me pushing. 2) installation lead (manager): unprofessional, dismissive of customer concerns, and rude 3) first installation "team": lack of and ability to communicate clearly and honestly - Installation experience: the first "team" sent to do the work (which the sales people said repeatedly were their "best" installers) was a guy and his brother in their personal trucks. Issues here were: 1) handled product incorrectly and could have possibly damaged the product (acknowledged by sales people) 2) did not appear to have professional experience installing the product (bad cuts, bad plank placement, disregard for pattern) 3) complete lack of communication skills. Left job incomplete without explanation other than muttering that "Chris called them back to the store". In truth, they knew they were leaving and not coming back that week because the materials were failing, but did not consider sharing that with me - Disregard for inconvenience to their customer: the installation manager, felt that it was not their problem that our house would be left in the condition that the included pictures below show for over two weeks. When I described it to him and shared my concern, his response was "what would you like me to do about it". In the end, I had to take all of the plastic down and clean up after his crew. The most frustrating part of the whole experience is that the second crew BB sent, after my husband refused to let the first guy and his brother come back, was FANTASTIC. They were a professional team of three. Arrived in professional work vehicles/trailer. Communicated well. We're very meticulous in their work and demonstrated their knowledge and experience with the product and the processes. These men were the type of team we expected BB to employ. The difference between the first two guys that showed up at the start of the job and the team that completed the job cannot be understated. It was a night and day difference. In fact, the new team had to correct some of the work done by the earlier guys. In the end, we ended up with a much better product (CALI) and a much better installation than we would have if the first product (Karastan) had not repeatedly failed. Unfortunately, most of that was through research and efforts of our own. My advice: There are numerous options for flooring products and installers. Do your homework! Don't rely on any sales person (no matter how nice or friendly they may be) or company to give you straight answers or unbiased opinions. I believe many do honestly have the best(ish) of intentions, but realistically they have a job to do and their responsibility is to the company - not you. Research your product, understand how it should be handled and installed, and read the reviews across multiple platforms. Research your installer. Read all the reviews across multi social media sites. Be your own advocate! Push for answers and push for the results you want. You're investing your money (for us it was over $19K). You deserve equitable results. All of this is my opinion based on our experiences with BB. I am sure that there are many customers that have had good experiences with BB and have lovely floors in their homes. Unfortunately, for us we are not one of those customers. While we are very happy with the end result, the journey to that result was so disappointing and stressful. There were many missed opportunities for BB to have stepped up and made this a better experience for us or at least acknowledged in a material way the inconvenience they caused (sometimes nice words and platitudes are just not enough). The lack of professionalism from their installation manager and the lack of experience and knowledge the first install team demonstrated are the primary reasons we will not be returning to Baker Brothers or recommending the company to anyone. read more

I bought a new home and wanted carpet removed from one of the extra bedrooms and replaced with tile that matched the rest of my main living area. Kathryn Cates helped me along the way, and the installer did a fabulous job. He removed a few tiles to eliminate the straight-across threshold from the existing tile to the carpeted area, and replaced them with whole tiles to continue the pattern coming in from the hallway. He did a great job and the room looks like it always had tile in it. I highly recommend Baker Bros and Kathryn Cates at the Glendale/Arrowhead location in particular. read more

Baker Brothers did the flooring at our old house and just re-did the carpeting in our new house. Long story short, you can probably save a little money by going with separate wholesaler/installer/mover, but you will be stuck with whatever the outcome is. We almost did that and it would have been a big mistake. If you are going to lay down a chunk of money for something big, you want to be happy with it, and Baker Brothers will work hard to make sure you are happy. It's worth the little bit extra to have a one-stop-shop that actually cares. The installation was impeccable and quality of the carpet is fantastic. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

We chose Baker Bros. for a recent tile installation. Kathy at the Glendale store was most helpful and exceeded our expectations. The install went very smoothly and looks great. HOWEVER, after the first day when the installer left, he piled his materials up against our garage door and did not say anything to us about it. When we opened the garage door fro the inside, it forced the cable off the runner on our garage door, NOT GOOD! Also, the installer left the tile spacers dumped in our front yard gravel. I spend the better part of an hour picking through our gravel to dispose of the spacers. Too bad an installer with no common sense or logic had to diminish what could have been a flawles experience. read more

About 5 years ago, I had my front room redone with vinyl flooring by Baker Bros. It turned very nice and I loved the style I chose. As home projects take time, I needed to update my family room and went back to Baker Bros. to see if they still carried the exact same style of vinyl flooring.
