Experienced horrible customer service and unethical business practices w/Baker Bros. No prior written or verbal communication from sales person to night before install re: needing very large public space to cut carpet day of install. Sub-contracted installers show up. Marcos 'lead installer'; refused to park in designated spot to accommodate his large trailer then tells us there's nowhere big enough on property to cut carpet & install! Condo is empty, we are moving into it next day. After calling salesperson about having no idea large space was needed to cut carpet then finally connecting to GM Paula about inexplicable lack of communication on BB part (she agreed), Marcos assures me he can & will cut carpet at Bb warehouse then return within an hour or so & install master bedroom carpet. Installers leave & never return. I spent hours proactively following up on where Marcos was only to be told by Chris (Marcos supervisor) he allowed Marcos to go home b/c Marcos wasn't satisfied with designated parking spot! Said he felt it was "a hostile work environment." every vendor has parked there; no vendor ever complained nor refused to park there. Marcos lied to me about completing job, Chris complicit in this lie. I prepaid thousands of dollars to have a subcontractor take it upon himself to walk off the job b/c he 'didn't want to get another ticket from the police' (parking spot 100% legit/legal numerous people from management team trying to accommodate him). Paula & Chris then assure me that carpet CAN be pre cut at warehouse. After a very long & exhausting move, Paula at BB did a 180 by denying they ever told me this saying "no one at Baker Brothers from salesperson to scheduler to Paula to installer was aware nor educated on the type of carpeting I ordered...sorry." Paula repeatedly dismissed that Marcos lied to me/blew us off. Ended with passive aggressive 'we apologize that you're feeling frustrated.' No accountability on BB part. Refuse to reimburse me...keep saying I have to find a space on property for them to cut carpet!! Paula & Chris refuse to tour property themselves despite 2 invites to do so. Local media (ABC/FOX) doing investigative piece on Baker Brothers unethical behavior, poor customer service and questionable legal subcontract hiring practices. read more

We got a custom size 12x12 area rug for a great price. It looks good, soft material (not itchy), does not show dog hair, does not show stains, and easy to keep clean. Everything we want in a rug! Went to Baker Bros and requested a quote. They came out and measured very promptly. Roy was very friendly and prompt. We did need a large area of carpet so we knew it wasn't going to be cheap. We received a quote of $24,000 and I was shocked. I contacted them and told them this wasn't going to work and that we wanted to be around $12-14k. I went back to the store and it came down to $18,000 and this was the best they could do. I still knew this was too expensive. I went and got 2 other bids both of which came in at $13k and $14k. One with the identical carpet selected at BB. I contacted BB and told them we'd be going a different direction. They came back and said they could meet that bid or even lower. Why wasn't this done from the start when I said my budget? They just assumed I was a woman alone in a nice house and they could take me for a ride. We went with another company because I will not do business with a company who does this to people. I guess they assume people will just pay whatever after a quote. Do your research!! We are saving $4-10k for the same EXACT carpet that BB was going to do and he basically admitted they priced higher up front. Do your research!! read more

Because of a leak in the master shower, water went through and ruined the carpet in our master bedroom. Having previously purchased Karastan carpet from Baker Bros., I called them first and spoke with Kelsea Beaulieu. She was very personable and said that she could be at our home the next business day, and she was. I had selected several carpets that I liked on their website and asked that she bring a sample, which she did. I immediately liked my first choice and placed the order. We received our check from State Farm (yeah State Farm) and the carpet arrived within two weeks and was beautifully installed. The fact that they refused to provide an itemized list of quantities and prices of materials in conjunction with the 1000$ increase led me to the obvious conclusion that there was some hidding price padding in the contracted price. I keep saying, "I can't believe it." Baker Brothers is amazing. For 20 years I put up with an extremely uneven concrete floor in my master bedroom. (The result of a remodel by the previous homeowner. Long story.) But Baker Brothers came in and leveled it all out and installed the most beautiful wood flooring. I'm very grateful to Steve at the Camelback location who worked everything out, from flooring choice to completed installation. And to the two installers who were professional and very talented. Dear : I recently had occasion to use the Coldwell Banker Concierge Service to find an electrician and get an area of our home carpeted. I'll share my impressions: CARPETING. We wanted to install carpeting in the raised entrance area of our new home because the cork flooring made it difficult to distinguish the step down into the living room, guest bath, and master bedroom. First we contacted a well-known big box store. We chose the carpet and upgraded pad and they sent a guy to do measurements a couple days later. After that, it was like talking to a post. The quote was wrong (figures didn't add up and carpet layout ensured maximum waste), communication nonexistent, and--while we said we had our big boy pants on and if the job were too small we'd understand--they insisted they were on the case. Then they wanted several hundred more dollars to remove the cork tile and haul it off; an estimate based on gross carpet size rather than the area of tile to be removed! Then we looked on the Coldwell Banker concierge service site and found Baker Brothers Floor Covering, Inc. Chris Rosewell contacted us immediately, came over to look at the job, confirmed with his installers that the carpet could be glued directly to the cork, and set up an installation date. He emailed the contract, we signed it, and last Friday set up an install for yesterday, Tuesday, February 6. His crew was here yesterday right when they said they'd be here, installed the carpet, and we couldn't be more pleased. And the installation was less than half the big box's quoted price. We bought a wool area rug from these guys. There was no instructions from the salesman on care for the rug. The first time I vacuumed it the container on the vacuum was filled with wool fuzz. I vacuumed again and the same thing happened. I thought this may be normal as it was new and just shedding loose wool. After about the third time it was cleaned we called Baker Brothers to ask if this was normal as we were beginning to get concerned. I called them, the salesman ( Jim ) said we were using the wrong type of vacuum cleaner and that we should not use a vacuum with a beater bar. Had we been told this to begin with we would not have bought the carpet. I told Jim that I would like to return the rug for a refund or a credit. He said he would send an inspector to look at it. After not hearing from anyone for a couple days I loaded up the carpet and took it back. Jim was not there when I brought it back four days ago, the guy I talked with said the would have it inspected and let me know what they thought. I still have not heard back from them, and it looks like they don't intend to address the situation. I think this is very poor customer service. I will not recommend Baker Brothers to anyone. On 9/27/2019 I went to the Camelback store to ask about flooring. When I came into the store I could over hear a older guy (Ken) at the desk tell the younger guy "you can have this one" I felt like I was being judged and the older guy did not want to help me because I have gone to this store before in June of this year and the same guy could not help me because he said he was still new and the only one here. The younger guy (Michael) was helping me showing me the tile I asked about the older guy behind the desk was doing nothing just sitting and when I walked by the desk he fell asleep in his chair!! When Michael was talking to me someone else came to the store and the guy (Ken) told Michael can you help him when your done I am too sick to help. I got great service from Michael and really poor service from Ken now two times. I still have to pick out a tile that will work with my colors at home but I hope Michael will be able to help me when I come back. read more
