Ever since this place sold to sunbelt rentals it has become terrible dealing with the small brained people that work there. I used to use them all the time for years and they were great. Not any more! Called them about having a hydrostatic tester and they said they did when we showed up they said they didn't know what were we're talking about. This is not the first time they have done this to me, the last time I spoke to the manager and he said it was because they just changed ownership...things haven't changed! Back in November I rented a trailer from Sunbelt as I was getting this one I told them that the last one almost fell off and to make sure it was on good and tight lesson two blocks from the rental yard less than 2 minutes from leaving the rental yard the trailer came flying off rag doll behind my truck by the safety chain doing all kinds of damage here we are they have now denied my claim so now I have to take them to court. This is after the manager called me because when he showed up on site he was an ass and my son went off on him. I have voicemails from the manager calling and apologizing for his behavior when he showed up to the scene. Baker rentals was great for the 5+ years that we rented from them. Since Sunbelt bought them out, it's been a complete ?!?! show. We ordered equipment that never showed up and they had no record even though we had confirmations. They don't care what so ever about the client. It's a bummer that they bought Baker out with very few other places to rent scissor lifts. If you have a choice, do not use these guys! read more

I picked up a bobcat on Friday because the concrete dump is only open till 12 on Saturday. As soon unload it on Saturday morning bucket won't come off because it hadn't been greased for years and the bolts on the locking handle are ready to break. Then I connect the breaker to start demo and the female fitting is leaking all over the place. Luckily I deal w this regularly so I had a spare . When I told them what happened they laughed at me and then proceeded to tell me I broke it and didn't even give me a spare coupler. They have awesome rates, and Reasonable weekend hours that made it convenient to get the job done, even during the last major rain storm. Dan pointed his fingers in my face and yelled at me aggressively to go outside speaking to me as if I was a dog. He obviously has an issue with woman. I have never in my life been treated so rudely. Our family business has always used baker rentals until recently I would never use them again. The equipment breaks here and there, it is annoying usually causing us a delay in Work and the inconvenience of having to exchange it. Recently when an item we rented had an issue and we were trying to explain that we were not going to pay for the day that the equipment was not working and we were not able to return it to be fixed because they are closed on Sundays that's when Dan started to verbally assaulted me. This problem delayed our project 2 days and cost us extra money to get working equipment elsewhere. I will never return here worst customer service ever and shotty equipment. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Spoke to Dan about what rental would work best for a small project at a local high school. He suggested using a bobcat. We then went into pricing for the unit, which ran $200. With drop off and pick up, total went to $380. I then asked about what time the pickup would be . I was specifically told that I could have the unit picked up anytime the next day, up to 4:30 PM. When asked if it would be an extra charge to have it picked up at 4:30, was told No. The bobcat was dropped off on a Friday between 7:30-8. I again asked the driver about the pickup, and was told just call in the morning and that the 4:30 pickup was ok. Saturday, Leo called at 8:20, and I scheduled the 4:30 pick up. All went well until the credit card bill came 3 weeks later. I was charged $200 extra dollars for the rental. I called, spoke to Dan who was going to look into this and he never called back. I then called back and spoke to Leo. He claimed that he took my order, which isn't true. He claimed that he also told me that it would be an additional $200 for the extra day rental, which again isn't true. Some places will do anything to find a way to take more of your money, and Baker Equipment Rentals is one of them! read more

I rented a roto Hammer from them in 2017. It didn't work. I asked for my money back. They said I had it for an hour and had to charge me. The unit didn't work at all. They gave me a $33 credit pr Dan. I finally had the opportunity to use the credit today. Dan claims that he writes the amount of credit on all credited invoices. As you can see he did. I told him that it was i illegal to issue a credit and not credit it. "He then claimed that he would run his business the way he wanted to. " He then said that I must have forged this invoice. He called me a thief. Who would forge a 2 year old invoice. If you have a problem at Baker. Get your money back. Don't except a credit from them. All this for $33 they stole from me. Wasn't real impressed when I walked in. I was going to ask about renting a stake bed truck with a lift gate to move some heavy items, on their website it says they do reservations and someone will contact you when you put in a request, so I did, and heard NOTHING. Finally went in to ask, and the front desk guy says "nope, sorry, first come first served." Ok, I respect that, but WHY does it say on the website they take reservations? Plus their website is horrendously outdated, slow and glitchy, you'd think a company that deals with large equipment and a decent amount of $ daily would have a better site. On top of that, I basically got told that they won't honor anything on the website, and that their prices on the site are wrong and it's actually more. Needless to say, I walked out and will just get a uHaul instead, it may not have a lift, but at least uHaul is a reputable company and they honor their products! read more

Wow! Talk about customer service and quality equipment. Went there this morning to rent a power washer. Was greeted as I walked up and told him I reserved a power washer. Right away he pulled up the reservation and before I was done signing, a worker had it loaded in the back of my vehicle. As I walk up to my truck, the worker asked I needed directions on how to use and he gave me a quick overview. The equipment itself was in great shape. I don't know how many pressure washers I have rented that have looked more beat up than Rocky after he fought Apollo. Frayed cords that rip after two pulls. An engine that takes more coaxing to turn on than my wife does. Now that's a stubborn engine. Anyways, this thing fired up and purred like a kitten or maybe a good size lion. After a couple of hours I was done which was perfect because if I return it within three hours, I only get a partial charge and not the whole day. Sure enough traffic was terrible and I went over on the three hours by 15 minutes. No worries here though, and I was only charged a partial amount. Plus, unlike other corporate locations that I looked into, no fuel surcharge or any other charge for that matter. Just one great flat rate!! Beat the competition by 35 dollars. In the end, nothing beats a handshake and a smile. They just earned a regular customer. read more

He's looking for a fight ......He doesn't care at all about customer satisfaction, and he's trained the english speaking employes to be rude also. They even admit they don't care. BTW, Started coming here in 1980 ! We called & returned equipment that was not working after hauling to jobsite and back . I asked for a discount since the all day rental was now a 1/2 day for the swap out. How I am the first to review this place? It's awesome....well if you need to rent stuff for moving. Moving basically sucks and I needed a dolly to move my fridge. My boyfriend, being the smart guy he is, recommended this place. It is family owned which I really like because it feels less corporate and you get good service. They have tons of stuff you can rent from chainsaws to cement mixers. I only needed the dolly so it was very easy to rent. They just needed a credit card and an ID. While I was paying for the dolly, they loaded it into the car. When we returned two hours later, they took the dolly out and we got a copy of our receipt and we were on our way. When I need to move my fridge again, I know exactly where to go! read more

First of all I needed a generator to power my marine aquarium during a scheduled SCE power outage-they had what I needed at a very reasonable price-they (Al) loaded into my car for me and showed me how to use it-simple! Then lo and behold SCE cancelled the outage (of course); I called the company and spoke to Dan and he said no problem, he'd send his driver over to my house to pick up the generator for me-I asked what the charge would be, I fully expected to pay for the day- and he said not much maybe $20- These guys are very helpful, honest and they have tons of equipment! I rented a scissor lift from Baker Equipment rentals for 1 week and was satisfied with the service until we received the lift. The battery would die every 30 minutes and we would have to recharge it throughout the day which stopped work, and our productivity went down to 0% every 30 minutes. I reported this to the company and they claimed that this is the first time that they have heard of the battery dying, which I don't believe. We requested a partial refund and the guy on the phone said he would request it from his supervisor, but never got back to me. I will be renting from a larger company in the future. read more

Did a 24hr rental on a tool here just before they closed on Thursday 430pm. The old guy running the place or owner (not sure) was yelling at his staff and making them look bad in front of customers the whole time i was in line. I didnt care too much about it because i was in a hurry. Returned the tool Saturday morning 1045am and explained to the old guy running the place that my employee forgot to return it on time and was hoping for some kind of a break. The guy charged me for 2 full days and didnt have any sympathy for my excuse. My complaint is that this is a tool that was just sitting in my truck. Not anybodys time or labor. This guy was a jerk about it and didnt think twice about my situation and give me any kind of break wouldve been fair.. i wont come back and i refer going to Home Depot where they have understood contractors situations and have always given me a break when needed. Let me start by saying I have never written a review before. The reason that I have not done this is for the exact reason I see happening with a few reviewers on this company (Baker Equipment Rentals). I happen to be in the equipment rental company at the same time Lori M and Elizabeth M were in the office making a return. I just want the public to know that the way they are describing this situation is not at all the way this took place. You may be asking why I am taking the time to write this. Well as the pair were leaving the rental company they took every opportunity to slam this company to all of the customers that were coming in the door and to tell everyone how they were going to write bad reviews about this company. I saw what happened while they were at the counter at Baker Rentals and do not feel that this company nor its representatives deserve this type of destructive commentary. In defense of the company, the worker behind the counter could not say anything to the pair as their mouths were going 100 miles per hour just trashing everything the representative had to say. The man behind the counter finally stopped even trying to say anything to take care of the situation, he discounted the rental items they had a problem with and did not charge them for the fuel that they used in the truck. Why do I know this? I listened to him tell one of women this. So he did try and make them happy but clearly they had decided before they walked into the office that they were never going to be happy. Needless to say, this representative of Baker Equipment Rentals did everything he could do to try and take care of these women. I work in the customer service industry and I feel it is important for people to share the real truth not some of the specifics of how they see it. This is one of the reasons I do not feel everything can be trusted on a review site like this. Rented an equipment/vehicle hauling trailer. The trailer was in great shape, the people hooking it up were friendly. I would have rated it five stars, except for the guy in the office that elected to get on the PA system while I was leaving (after the return), claiming the trailer I returned was missing a ramp. That lacked a lot of class and could have been handled much better by making a small effort to walk outside, rather than act like a dictator with no concerns about embarrassing a customer without justification. Let me start this by saying I have rented from Baker for over 6 years, 2 of them I have rented extensively for my business. Other than sometimes equipment not working as it should I have never had a problem TILL NOW! I rented a dump truck, sod cutter, and a bobcat for 3 days, I had a large job for my business. For the first 2 days all was going well until Saturday night, on Saturday night I found myself with my 5th load of dirt ready to dump with a dump truck that wouldn't dump. We had dumped several loads before without a problem, Baker was closed. The following day was Sunday and they were closed again, I had to finish my job so I had to call someone out at great expense to remove the dirt. On Monday I called first thing, told them what had happened and they said bring it in, dirt and all. Late Tuesday they called, said it was fixed and come dump the dirt, I told them I was working and would be there first thing in the morning, I dumped dirt with no problem. Brought truck back and found out Dan, planned to charge me for Sunday, even though it was their equipment that failed and cost me time and money. HE ACTUALLY SAID IT WASN'T HIS PROBLEM ! Then he went on to say I somehow had misused the truck?? Because his dump switch burnt out??? I was carrying 3 1/2 ton loads and have the dump weighs to prove it. I told him as his radio, and several other electrical things were not working he had a electrical problem, he said what would I know, and I informed him I work on cars. And I was raised around auto repairs my whole life. Then he yelled at me and my employee telling us to rent somewhere else from now on, THAT WAS A GIVEN, he finally relented and kicking and screaming gave me the one day for truck only, even though all the other equipment was useless because I couldn't dump truck. HES THE MANAGER by the way, and the owner was sitting right there too. Apparently this happens A LOT there. Beware of Dan!! He's the angry bald guy, probably owners son in law! read more
