Dr. Barry is by far the BEST veterinarian I've ever seen. This amazing women Is truly gods blessing! She has saved our dog twice! I've taken my dog to other vets before we moved to the area, they always say my dog has allergies. Allergy shot etc. yet my dog still had symptoms. I took my Golden girl to Dr. Barry, within one visit she diagnosed my dog with Hypothyroidism, and she was spot on! Got her on her daily medication and she's never had the symptoms again. Took my dog in for what i thought was a sore leg, within 5 minutes she knew my dog had a terrible infection resulting in a hysterectomy and saved my dog who was dying and i had no idea!!! She was so gracious to take time to stay up all night after hours to help our family get her into emergency surgery. She has the biggest heart! The BEST vet in OC! Dr. Barry is an amazing and most caring and compassionate doctor our family could ask for! We have been with Dr. Barry for over 10 years. We followed her from Bandfield to now her own practice at Baker Ranch Animal Hospital, because she is a gem. Dr. Barry always called us when she said she would to review labs (even late into the evening) or just return calls/questions. Dr. Barry and her wonderful staff took amazing care of my fur baby! Two months ago Roxy was diagnosed with lymphoma and Dr. Barry was there with us every step of the way. She called me and my mother separately to explain Roxy's diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis. She spent so much time with our family and we never felt rushed or pressured into any decision. Dr. Barry was so supportive even up until the day Roxy was ready to go to doggy heaven. Dr. Barry and Jill made a special trip to our home to help send Roxy away peacefully. Dr. Barry was patient and explained everything to us before each step to alleviate worries and anxiety. Our family is so grateful for her. We cannot thank you enough, Dr. Barry! Dr. Barry has been my pet's vet since I moved to lake forest for a few years now. However these past few visits are concerning. My 5 year-old golden Labrador was experiencing a "happy tail" injury with a small wound on his tail so we took him here on Wednesday. They ask you to call when you arrive which is nice. We had a different vet this time on our appointment. We were charged $300 on our first visit and told he would need to come in Friday for another bandage. I asked if another $70 exam/consultation fee would be added and the technician let us know any visit within 30 days would not be additional. On our second visit, we called them again to let them know we were here. A vet tech came outside and told us in the parking lot, in addition to the bandage he would probably need another laser treatment. I was a little confused and didn't want to agree if they haven't even checked his wound yet so I asked if the doctor could take a look at it first. We went inside and the vet did check him and let us know he would in fact need another laser treatment ($40) in addition to re bandaging ($55) today. And we will need to come in next Wednesday as a 3rd visit, for another re bandaging and possibly 3rd laser treatment next week. I agreed to today's plans however it seemed like we are being put on a treatment PLAN without being told that we are going on a treatment plan from our first visit nor were we adequately informed of the associated costs. After doing our own research online as we waited for our dog, we find the hospital was doing red light laser treatment, which can be effective but requires multiple visits over weeks! Each laser treatment costs $40, and there is also a $55 re-bandage fee each time. Factoring in the costs of the treatment plan, it would have cost us a staggering hundreds of dollars. Well over $600 dollars which was not disclosed to us at the beginning. Furthermore, the treatment was only temporary, and our dog's condition was not fully healed. When we expressed our concerns they even threatened to add an additional check up fee to our visit, despite having previously explained that we would only be charged per visit if they hadn't seen our dog in the last 30 days. While the hospital used to be incredible under Dr. Barry, the vet techs and receptionists seem to care more about their paycheck than the welfare of the animals. Overall, I would not recommend this hospital based on my experience. The lack of transparency around costs and treatment plans, combined with the unprofessionalism of the staff, has left me feeling nervous about returning. It's sad to see the hospital's decline under the new management, and without Dr. Barry's leadership, it seems that the hospital's quality of care has suffered. While there are some positive reviews based on Dr. Barry's previous tenure, my experience suggests that this hospital may not be the best choice for pet owners in the area. read more

I've taken my cat here sense we've had him. Anytime they see him they are so sweet and gentle with him. They immediately could tell he was a nervous boy and used their cute handkerchiefs with some calming spay to help. During his vaccinations they put a goofy cowboy hat on him; that was such a smart and fun way to redirect his attention. They have done an incredible job at informing this first time cat mama on basic care needs and behavior. They even saved me money telling me where to get the best deal for calming spray. They really are looking out for the pets and pet parents. He is such a happy and healthy boy, I can't imagine going anywhere else for my veterinary needs. P.S. I've been coming to Dr Barry for a few years now due to her wellness plans I couldn't pass up! But recently this past year, things have been changing. I had gone in for my pet's annual exam and when they took her to the back I heard someone in the back call my dog a twat and heard the doctor and rest of staff laugh. I'm not a confrontational person and I don't want to cause any issues with the staff or doctor to cause them to treat my pet differently. But I just feel like after being asked to reschedule my appointment and then to hear them call her that, I was just shocked and immediately texted my wife, she advised I just leave and not come back after I pay, which we will be doing.  I noticed a lot of changes this year, the new doctor is no longer there, the manager is no longer there, the nurses are changing as well, and not necessarily for the best (as per my recent visit).  I won't be coming back needless to say, I just wanted to inform the public of the recent change and if they experience the same, I do suggest finding a different vet in the area. Maybe she is just overwhelmed but joining the laugh is not okay. read more

I love it here and my pups love it here! Dr. Barry is more than you could ask for in a vet. She is so thorough and professional that you know your pet is in good hands after talking with her for like 2 minutes. My dogs aren't afraid of coming to the vet at all and actually get excited when we say we're on our way to see Dr. Barry. She sits down with them on their level, is super patient, and does a thorough exam every time, even if you came in for something trivial. She definitely wants to make sure that your pets are always healthy no matter what. She'll also sit with you after the exam is complete to answer any and all questions that you have and she answers them in detail. We never feel like we're being condescended to, or rushed because she's trying to get to the next patient. The staff is also super nice and very loving with our dogs every time we come in. This really nice person named Ali answered the phone and let me tell you, she was super patient and answered all the questions I had and did not make me feel bad even though I thought some questions could have been stupid. I'm usually worried about vet offices being "all about the money" but I asked if their location did cherry eye surgeries. She was very up front and told me I could come there for a consultation and they would refer me out to a specialist to get that done. I was so pleased with her honesty! We had an exam/consultation done less than 2 months ago and had an appointment set up to just give vaccines to our dog. They did not disclose to us that they were going to conduct or charge us for another exam when the appointment was made or when my wife checked in for the appointment. They didn't have a restroom on site, so as soon as my wife took my daughter to go use the restroom, they started doing an exam without her permission. They were late to see our dog, so it's incredibly shady that they suddenly had time to jump on the exam as soon as my wife and daughter had to step out for a second. To do anything with our dog without asking our explicit permission and not being transparent with their pricing is unacceptable. This hospital might think they're smart by pulling a fast one for $70 on us. Let this and many other reviews make this place regret resorting to such an unethical business model. read more

After a little research I came across Baker Ranch Animal Hospital and their approaches and views seemed to align with what I was looking for. I took my cat Doodle and I was greeted with the nicest front office staff and vet techs. We met Dr. Wilson and were immediately impressed by her professional and caring demeanor. We visited Baker Ranch Animal Hospital when our older black lab started having some stomach issues. Dr. Barry and all her staff were always super nice and professional. The dreaded day came when we had to say goodbye to our black lab. We had heard that other vets wouldn't allow you in to say goodbye during these covid times. Fortunately, they had an ez up set up outside where we were able to say goodbye to our beloved shadow. We were also able to bring our other dog too. This was seriously the best way it could've happened during covid. They also sent a card with his paw print which was so sweet. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. The service is great and they love my dog just like I love her. The vet has years of experience with Cavalier King Charles Cavaliers back in England which is what my baby is. This weekend I had to take her to the emergency vet in Mission Viejo who were awesome. They let Baker Ranch know she has been in and they called to check on and follow up with me on June Bug even though they weren't the ones to see her. The quality of their service and care is amazing. I honestly don't write many reviews, but I'm just so blown away by the care & kindness of this hospital. My fur baby Ellie (a 10 lb maltipoo) has gone to VCA since it's super close to our house - but after coming here, I can truly say that we've found our forever hospital. Even after just 2 visits, I can really say that this office really goes above & beyond for pets, and invests time in building relationships with pet parents. Dr. Barry, Rachel, and Jill are just all so wonderful, and you can feel the genuine love & care exuding from them. With COVID precautions, you set up an appointment then call upon arrival. A wonderful tech will come out to grab your pet. Rachel, who helped with appointment scheduling, is just so pleasant and kind - she also called multiple times to just check in on Ellie and confirm she was doing alright. Jill, who carries Ellie inside the hospital & back out to the car, is patient and caring - I love how how she updates me on how Ellie was when I can't physically be there with her. I know polite and caring office staff should be the norm, but let's be real, it often isn't - so I appreciate it so much whenever I experience it. Ellie had a scare recently where she got into moldy food. Dr. Barry took the time to thoroughly explain next steps, provide helpful recommendations and rationales (behind why we're running a certain test or why a certain vaccine is needed), and is just overall extremely understanding and supportive in an otherwise super stressful time. I also really appreciate Dr. Barry personally calling to check in on Ellie, and to go through Ellie's lab work. My mind always goes to the worst potential scenario, but thankfully Dr. Barry is incredibly reassuring. My dog is not a patient here yet but I wanted to give this place the thanks they deserve. The other day my dog was pooping blood and throwing up and I called our regular vet and they told us to just keep an eye on him. I told him I had been and we were on day two of this and I was now very concerned and my vet told me they'd call me back if they could get us in. Three days later and still not a call back. I called this place as it's close to my house and we've been wanting to switch to a closer vet anyways and they told me they were booked but asked what was wrong, I told them and she said I should absolutely take him to the emergency vet and was even kind enough to give me the name and number to one and thank god for them because he was having a liver infection and if we had waited it could've gotten worse and he could have gone into liver failure. I'm so happy I didn't listen to my vet and that this place was kind enough to offer me advice even though I told them I had another vet that just couldn't get me in and that help potentially saved my dog and something getting way worse. I just called them to switch over to them and they said to email them all the records and offered me their soonest appointments for a follow up. My cat, Blue had taken a couple of bites of a houseplant he wasn't supposed to. I didn't think anything of it until I saw he wasn't finishing his food. I called up Baker Ranch Animal Hospital and they were able to take in Blue the same day, within a couple of hours! We are going through Covid at the moment, so we were able to drop Blue off curbside, describe everything to Marianne and she took him in. Within 1 hour, we had our answer, the plant wasn't toxic, but it can cause stomach irritation. Dr. Barry called me on the phone and explained the next steps. Within an another half hour, we had Blue back and along with his medication. Marianne, Rachel, and Dr. Barry were so kind, and even though I didn't get to meet Dr. Barry in person, she gave me so much peace of mind over the phone call. She also followed up with test results on the phone as well as email within a couple of days. We've been looking for a vet since we moved here about 2 years ago and I am happy to say Blue and I will be returning here from now on! read more

The staff here are absolutely amazing. Dr. Barry is extremely kind and reassuring. We had to take in our 6 month old puppy for an allergic reaction following a bee sting on a regular walk. From the first phone call, which Dr. Barry herself answered, they were very kind and helpful. As soon as we took her in, they took care of our puppy and continued to give us updates regularly and reassure us very kindly. Dr. Barry even took photos of the pup to show us during the treatment process to demonstrate her improving status. The rest of the team were just as incredible and kind. The puppy was held in one of the assistant's arms the whole time and did not appear nervous or scared at all. Awful just an awful experience. My dog has been receiving cytopoint injections for 5 years now. He has consistently needed them every 7 weeks. We got his latest shot here and it only lasted a month. I called to tell them that I needed an appointment for him to get a steroid and cytopoint shot and to discuss options since he seems to be building a tolerance to the shot. They made an appointment for me and when I get there they said they can only do the cytopoint because it's a tech visit and not a doctor visit. Whoever scheduled my appointment didn't make it for a doctor visit and now they are trying to tell me it's my fault. My poor dog it bleeding from scratching and biting so much and they told me I could put a cone on him or they could book and emergency appointment since they were fully booked.
