Southeast Auto Service deserves more than 5 stars. They truly have outstanding service and great prices for services. I kinda piled things up with my car and when I finally took it in I was looking for an oil change, new brake light, tire rotation, and air pressure checked. I was hoping I could have all this done for around $125. I left with an $80 bill and they fixed a problem that I had with a tire sensor that I have had for YEARS (MULTIPLE places have offered to fix this for around $200). I was completely blown away. My care needs full synthetic oil and I've been charged upwards of $100 for just an oil change. Southeast was more than affordable and I got one for around half of that. The printout they gave me was very detailed, they didn't offer anything extra than what I was there for and as mentioned before they actually took the time to put the right amount of air in the tires and informed me my sensor was never even broken to begin with. You do need to make an appointment (but I was still able to get in just 2 days out) and drop your car off in the morning. By noon my car was finished and I was able to pick it up. I will absolutely be back and it is honestly the best experience I've ever had at an auto service place. They are very very honest and if you are still considering someplace else, just look at the other 5 star reviews. Southeast is the best! read more

If you are looking for honest people to do reliable, affordable and quality work on your car then look no further. They were able to get my daughter's car in, fixed and back on the road in less than one entire afternoon.....of course this was also in the month of December, during a snowstorm and her car had been encased in ice and snow from being broken down. Not an exaggeration!! The guys are super friendly and were happy to answer all of our questions. The most honest mechanics that I've met so far. I am doing regular oil changes at Southeast Auto, they always do a great job, and so far I've had only two concerns with my car that these guys helped me with in the most honest way. The first one is related to weird sounds coming out from one of the wheels on my Hyundai Accent. After doing a serious inspection, they gave me a list of things that are causing the sound and told me that none of those is a safety concern, but just a sign that my car is getting older. They also gave me an estimated cost for the things that would need to be replaced for the sound to disappear, but advised me not to do them because they would cost money and there are no safety concerns with how things were at that moment. I heard from other people about similar sounds, the mechanics would charge them serious money to change parts, and the sounds would still be there. This was not the case in Southeast Auto, because, as I said, they are super honest and straight to the point. The second issue one was related to my breaks. The car was sitting for a while, and the breaks were noisy which stopped happening at lower speed after 2-3 days, but it remained present at 45+ mph. Again, they did a serious inspection and told me that it is not a safety concern whatsoever and that I probably have 20k+ miles left to drive with these breaks. We had an incredible experience at this auto shop. Seriously. We have been waiting to get the tire fixed after a big storm and tough weekend. We got a flat tire on the way to urgent care. We show up 20 minutes before closing with a flat tire and piece of shard in it. Guy didn't promise anything on the phone, but Guy was so kind when we showed up. He just got right down to business. He didn't even pause just got out his kit. Helped us super speedy and a great job. He was very friendly and then said it was on the house. Hands down the best service I've ever received. Thanks Guy! I am fully admitting I am wrong for parking here without permission to start this review. I am usually reasonable especially when I am in the wrong and have never reviewed a business poorly but this was extreme. I had hit a deer the previous night. Had he looked, he would've known that. I am a nurse and cannot bring cars in during the day. I had parked here planning to call while at work once they opened to see if they could provide an insurance quote. To find this in the morning left me speechless. Around 7:30 in the morning I got up to go to work and get my work badge from my car. I conveniently live walking distance. My car was fully boxed in by the owner of this store. Like I said, I should not have parked there and that was wrong of me to not leave a message because I hit the deer after hours the night before. As I was calling the cops to move the cars, he stared at me through the window. His demeanor was nauseating as I apologized and asked him to move the cars. I will say he was calm and thanked me for my service, but I'd rather have been towed or ticketed as most professional businesses would. I could not drive out quicker. read more

I get nervous going to shops because I've been ripped off numerous times. Bill at SE Auto made me feel as if a friend was servicing my car, very helpful and honest. They called before the fixed anything and the prices were very reasonable. Also before I left, something on my car started going off and he wouldn't let me leave until he figuring out/fixed what it was. I can not say enough great things about this place. We were in town to help our daughter move from her dorm at UW Stout to a summer rental for an internship. We live in Green Bay, WI and was driving home that night. We very unexpectedly had a major brake fluid leak, to the point that we probably couldn't make it home that night. We pulled in because we noticed his garage door opened, and after he explained he was closed and was just waiting for someone to pick up a vehicle we were going to be on our way. After he saw what was going on, he immediately pulled it in the garage and fixed it for us, in the matter of 20 minutes. I can't tell you how amazingly grateful we are, there aren't enough words. We hope everyone reading this knows what a great person he is. I wish he was closer to Green Bay! Thank you so much! He really makes you believe in the goodness of people! read more

Went to Southeast Auto for an oil change because it's near to my house and had good reviews online. It was absolutely the worst customer service experience of my life. When I came to pick up my car, the worker was belligerent and condescending. He rotated my tires without my permission and tried to charge me for it. Then he argued with me for several minutes about why it was done, all in the same aggressive and condescending tone. (My tire place recommended putting the new tires on the back axle to prevent sliding, but this employee disagreed.) He went on to angrily criticize the choice of oil I put in my car and lambast me for being so overdue on my oil change. I mean honestly, that's why I brought it in! Is it reasonable to expect everyone to perform flawless regular maintenance on their own cars? Regardless of the interaction with that one employee, any car shop that will do work without a customer's permission, then attempt to charge them for it, should not be in business. Based on other reviews, maybe it's possible to have a good experience at this shop depending on what employee you interact with, and they did have reasonable prices, but I would not recommend this place to anyone based on my own experience. I would rather pay more somewhere else and not be mocked and ridiculed. read more

As a graduate student (read: tight budget) who doesn't know a lot about cars and is not from Minnesota, I was in major "freakout mode" when my car broke down. I had it towed to Southeast Auto Service based on a recommendation from a coworker - which was a great decision. They were so helpful and understanding on the phone, checked my car out & told me about the factory recalls on the transmission. They even recommended a tow company they trusted to take my car to the dealership to handle the recall repairs. Even more, they answered my questions about how to talk to the dealership to make sure things were covered. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for trustworthy and honest service. read more

Southeast Auto is great. I am naturally wary of auto shops, as many people are, and I first went here only because it was nearby, but now I go out of my way to return. (It is still very convenient to the University of Minnesota -- drop off your car as early as 7 AM, walk to campus along the river, and walk back at the end of the day when your car is ready.) It's a small shop, and they can get quite busy, but even at their busiest times, they've always been super nice and helpful. I do my own oil changes and stuff, so I don't come in too often, but still these guys know and remember things about my car better than I do. Turnaround times are fast, pricing is fair, and they are upfront about everything, even telling me when certain repairs aren't really necessary for safety (which keeps me from investing too much in my older commuter car). They do used car inspections too, if you want a professional opinion on a potential purchase. They found a number of little issues I didn't notice, which I then got the dealer to address before buying. read more

They provide the cost of labor and parts before the work has been performed. I believe this is a very ethical and honest repair shop and have been extremely pleased with the work they have done.
