Love this place which is like a Level 1 Resuscitation Center for Land Rovers (LRs). I love my LRs and when they are sick, this is the only place allowed to touch them. Auto Repair is a lot like Human Repair and frankly, going somewhere big and fancy with marble floors, a lobby barista, and a piano player by a fireplace means absolutely nothing when it comes to competence. In fact, there is likely an inverse relationship to the level of fancy amenities and ability to actually fix what is wrong. Glitz can cover up a lot and I guarantee that if I am shot or stabbed, I want to go to the County Trauma Center and not the place with building wings endowed by a sheik. The same is true for my LRs. When they need help, they go here and not the fancy dealer with the glass showroom. Owned and operated by Eric, he got his initial training by LR and then left the dealer to open his own shop. He was factory trained and I have been bringing my babies to him for about 20 years. In that time, he has been fair, given me some great advice, and helped me keep my LRs running well which is saying something as my newest one is 15 years old and my oldest ones are 23 years old. Prices are within reason (especially when compared to dealers) but the real win is that he and his staff know their way around a LR. Just drive onto their lot and it looks like a LR playground because there are no less than a dozen different ones parked there at any point in time to admire. Over the years his reputation and business has grown which speaks volumes as dedicated LR owners can be a fickle group and hold very specific requirements on who can actually touch their LRs. I had an unusual "no crank" issue with my Discovery II's BCU, and I brought it to an import shop that diagnosed it, but lacked the proper software to program a new unit. Great guys, but couldn't complete the repair. So I gave Expedition Autoworks a call, and they said they could do it no problem. After bringing over the new BCU they married it to the ECM, and programmed my Key Fob. I had been stuck in MPLS for a week with the issue, and although they were busy, Eric made time to get my truck ready the next morning. My anniversary was the next day, so needless to say, I was relieved. The owner Eric is a DII enthusiast himself, and I owe him a big debt of gratitude for getting this job done quickly and correctly. The start issue is gone, and if I could do it over again, I would bring the truck to them immediately. read more

Without a doubt the BEST auto service in the western suburbs! I've had two Audis (A8,A6) BMW 325, Lexus RX 300 and GMC Yukon Denali all serviced here, and found them to be highly credible, very fair and honest. There have been items that they've made me aware need to be watched, but never pushed to get them fixed unless I wanted. On one occasion, a part that was installed failed within a month or so and they replaced the part and didn't charge me for the service. If you coordinate in advance, they have a loaner car for use. If you want big comfy chairs, coffee and cookies, a huge showroom with lots of pretty cars, and don't mind spending twice as much for your car repairs, keep going to Carousel or BMW of Minnetonka. If you want excellent service, qualified technicians who come out and talk to you about what they found and discuss your options with you, and you can trust their work while paying 30-40% less than the glitzy showrooms, this is your auto service place. read more

While having an oil change performed, I asked to have a fan coupling nut be removed as well. Backstory is that I have a bad A/C condenser (diagnosed at EA) and I planned to replace on my own time. I had a significant amount of trouble removing this fan coupling nut and figured EA might have a better tool. The guys worked on the coupling nut for hours, trying every option they had. Upon arrival, I was really nervous what this might mean for my invoice at current hourly shop rates. Expedition billed me only for the oil change which was an unexpected turn. I felt terrible, asked to pay for a portion of the hours and was allowed to only pay for 30 minutes of labor. This experience cements why I go to Expedition Autoworks. read more

I've taken my Rover here several times hoping that service would improve since the dealership is untrustworthy. Bad ABS sensor was installed wrong and had a callback. Wiper motor was diagnosed as bad and replaced, although the problem was in the switch. Hoping they get better, but I will be moving on to yet another repair shop. read more

As a longtime customer of other local Rover dealers/specialists, we brought our LR3 to Expedition Autoworks at the recommendation of a friend. Although our problem was one that was rather expensive and out of mfg warranty, Our experience at Expedition was an A+. Eric & Mike we're helpful and provided all sorts of advice (much of it without getting paid). Unlike other garages, they could have easily recommended fixes that were only in their financial interest. Instead, it was a refreshing experience to feel like they acted in our best interest. I only wish that we didn't start dealing with them years ago.
