    Ardent Manor Day Center

Staffed with dedicated professionals, you can feel how much they love what they do! It is exactly what our family needed to find after our exhausted caregiver mother was in need of relief during the day in providing care and supervision of our stepfather who had Alzheimer's. He was easily agitated and found it very uncomfortable to be around strangers, making it near impossible to find a place where he would be happy, safe and well cared for! Each of the Day Centers we visited, he was intolerant of the place and anxiously wanted to leave....until we visited Ardent Manor and met Helen Waite, the Executive Director! On first meeting her, it was like watching a gifted artist with a brush on canvas, how she skillfully painted a beautiful study of him and zeroed in on his personal fears and comfort level...handling him with just enough humor and comfort that, with pleasure, he voluntarily sat down and within minutes was engaging in a group activity! If you knew my stepfather you knew that never happened before! Shocked as we were by this, after getting to know Helen I realized how much this gifted woman was making an enormous lasting change in all our lives and had been doing with countless families before we got there. Committed to providing a caring supportive service that promotes dignity and self esteem, Helen and Dan Waite have partnered to create an endearing and charming "Club" ! Along with Lexi and their other dedicated team, they helped in Charlie's transition from attending a couple of hours a week to five days and a full day...it provided immeasurable fulfillment for the challenges he faced with Alzheimer's. The program which consists of daily exercise, music therapy, singing, crafts, discussion groups, games, cards, memory enhancement exercises and discussion groups are prepared with warmth and dignity. As Charlie's health declined, they were with us every step of the way with the warmest support and care you could every ask for! Our family is extremely thankful that we found Helen and Dan and their wonderful Center...and especially in helping to make a "soft spot to lean on" during those tiresome times.

    Diamond Oaks Village

A rare occurrence has happened in the independent living facility industry . A treasure has emerged…read morefor those over 55+ who are seeking a senior independent living facility can share in. It is Diamond Oakes Village in Bonita Springs, Florida. When looking for a senior living facility the important factors are cost, location, quality of life, food, service, safety, friendliness of staff. Diamond Oaks Village excels in all of these factors. The complex is fairly new built in 2017 an originally open as a 55+ community. In June 2024, it was converted to a independent living facility by Discovery Corp. They have a variety of 1,2,3-bedroom floor plans to choose from. All include a screened in lanai and indoor parking. Pricing is the lowest in the area: My 2br/2ba 1176 sqft unit is $2855/month on a yearly lease basis with no enormous buy-in expense. You will find cost is at least $2000/month lower than anywhere comparable. Similar cost savings are available on all size units. The food is beyond comparison. Their chef, has19 years experience at a major Las Vegas hotel. Each dinner meal is fixed from scratch and it is like eating at a four-star restaurant. There is an NCH hospital emergency facility located right next door. So medical assistance is within sight. Also, the sheriff's office is located a mile away which is an added deterrent in an already extremely low crime area. Many senior living facilities there is a pall over the atmosphere, and you cannot wait to leave. Not Diamond Oaks Springs. They have decorated the entire facility in an upscale fashion. The staff have been to train to treat all residents and visitors as guest. There are always fun activities if you choose to participate in them. I have met no residents who were not happy with their surroundings. And you look forward to the meals. It is truly an enjoyable dining experience and each time the menu changes there are new exciting culinary entrees to choose from. Other features that I appreciate are the maintenance dept lives on site. I had two small issues, and maintenance responded within a few minutes and the issues were resolved. A really important consideration is you do not have to evacuate during a hurricane. Which is unusual for Lee County, which has mandatory evacuation for most senior living facilities. I believe the reason for the exception for Diamond Oaks is that it new up to code construction, no ground floor units and it is on the same electrical grid as the hospital. Electricity has never been out for more than a few hours. At the last facility I was at it was mandatory evacuation during Irma and the cost was $800 or $200/day to stay at a local hotel. It is rare for an equinox of reasonable cost and outstanding food and services to happen in the senior living industry, but it has at Diamond Oaks Village. All the senior living facilities owned and operated by Discovery Corporation are given extremely high ratings by the Wall Street Journal. They are considered a premier company in this industry. If you are in the market for a senior independent living facility, check out Diamond Oaks Village at 24110 South Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, Florida 34134. Her knowledge of the 'system' is impressive and she has been beyond helpful to us in both finding the right place and qualifying for Medicaid. She spent a good amount of time interviewing my dad asking questions about his past service in the Army and many of the activities he's accomplished in his life. She then went on to inquire into his hobbies, dislikes/likes, and what he's looking for in a new home. After she left, he nodded his head and we both agreed we had found the right team to help us without prejudice. By the end of the day she came back to us with three places for us to visit and she set up appointments with each of them later that week. The very first place was an immediate fit and I pretty much knew that where we'd end up. It had all the features and options my dad was looking for. However, he wanted to see more and we visited the two others before making our decision. By the following Wednesday, we were signing a contract with the first option. Chrissy was with us every step of the way and joined us on every tour of the facilities. I really can't say anything bad at all about the service they provided us.
