Pork Chop with Apple Brandy Sauce
    Sarah T.

Cup of French onion soup was good, but pork chop was flavorless and below average. Service good & spacious dining with many different dining venues from bar to dining room to perimeter areas with well lighted work tables. Green beans were ok & a large serving; some were over cooked. Again, not much flavor. Disappointing dining experience inside the Doubletree Hotel.

Don't bother wait staff has no interest in serving you at this establishment, waited 20 minutes for lady bartender to get up and offer me a menu. Finally got a beer after 30 minutes then she went and sat back down and never asked me for my order gave up and left

Shared the Philly Steak Sandwich and boneless wings. Both very good and hot. Drink was a little light for wife, but tap beer tastes fine to me. Five TVs but issues with putting two different games on. Service was very good. The place was pretty quite for us. I suspect crowds might get challenging as they ramp up staff.....Staying at hotel so it works great for that. I almost had us going out somewhere based on prior reviews.

This was okay the mashed potatoes were cold. And the veggies also was a little cool not sure why but the salmon was hot. But the cream on top was not good at all. The salad was pretty good which is expected of a salad lol, the cheese curds were the best part of this meal which is a plus

Chicken nachos...a disastrous mess that was sent back.

Baker's is located in the atrium of the Doubletree Hotel and is definitely not my first choice in downtown dining. They do a great job with events like the Wine Walk but the regular dining experience is a miss. I recently stopped in with a friend on a Thursday night before a concert at the Morris Performing Arts Center. We had tried LaSalle Grill and LKT, but they were packed and we wanted something close by. We grabbed a couple seats at the bar and ordered our drinks. I will say the bartender did a great job. The bar seats filled up and the place was severely understaffed. She was racing around like crazy keeping everyone's drinks filled. We ordered the nachos with grilled chicken to share. We waited....and waited...and waited. Several other folks arrived, ordered and were served their food while we waited. When we asked, the bartender told us it takes longer since we ordered with chicken. The nachos finally arrived and were disastrous. For the upcharge and wait, there were about four pieces of diced chicken. The plate if chips was topped with some barely melted cheese on the top and a pile of plain chips underneath...no thanks! We ended up with the spinach artichoke dips instead which was a mayonaissy mess. At least the drinks were good!

My experience here was a 3-star, A-OK, experience. I only ordered an appetizer and a soft drink, however. The menu prices were on par for a hotel restaurant. It is a nice, bright, sunny atmosphere.

We got there around 5:00 PM while things were just getting busy. It had a nice vibe to it. You could tell people enjoy coming here. I started off the order with an item off their monthly menu specials. The muffuletta pizza. Very nice with a great flavor. My wife loved every bite of her braised beef sliders and cole slaw. We also have this obsession with ordering Brussels sprouts when we go out and they're available. I will give the sprouts 3 out of 5 because they had way too much balsamic vinegar on them. This rating doesn't bring my overall rating down because it's likely they are very good any other time. As if all that weren't enough to eat, we ordered the 8" Cinnamon Streusel pizza with vanilla bean ice cream off their seasonal monthly menu. Oh boy was that good!! If given the opportunity to come back to South Bend, this will be my go to place. PS... I'm not a beer drinker, but it seems they have lots of craft beer on tap. It's considered a gastropub. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. Some outside seating is covered and nice of it raining but still warm out. There is a patio area that's quite large. It looks like and has a feel of a biergarten.

From a cool space to the welcoming vibe, The Lauber gets it right. I love the variety of seating areas for parties of all sizes and the overall comfortable atmosphere. The food is really good with a homestyle feeling. The generous portion sizes are definitely appreciated and I always end up with enough to take home.

Everyone was so kind and hospitable. The restaurant itself was very cozy and I enjoyed being there. As far as food, I loved everything I ate. The Mac and cheese needed some salt but otherwise everything was 10/10. I can't wait to return!

You drive up to the awning and a valet opens the gates for you to park. We had reservations. It was very crowded. I am told it's not typically that crowded. It was hard to hear it was so loud. Menu is large. Prices are higher. Be ready. I got the large chopped salad. It wasn't that large for $18. I changed out the dressing to ranch because I did not want the garlic salad dressing. Glad I did. The salad was ok. The salami was smokey it added to the veggies. But for the price it was small and disappointing. 2 people got the prime rib sandwich and it was pretty sloppy. It's better to eat with a knife and fork. I was told it was good. The sweet potato fries have cayenne pepper on them. The chopped salad with tofu was also disappointing. The tofu had a weird bbq type sauce. The server was nice and she was fine. The atmosphere is more high scale. Just disappointed in the taste of the food and portion to cost. Cool experience being on campus but you're paying for it.

Because my order is wrong and it's their fault. It's called accountability. I will never order this again from this restaurant. Or anything from this restaurant again based on the way that they didn't make it right. I even went so far to call back a second time and got excuses as to why they include onion, tomato and lettuce in an order that is excluded on tomato, onion, and lettuce. Onion makes me sick and everything had an onion flavor to it so I spent $20 at Grubhub to not have dinner and when I tried to explain that to the manager, she said well so many people get upset because it says that it comes with that. So I told her I said that's fine. I told her that I'm got these things going on and it's not her fault the Grubhub delivery driver isn't her fault, but the reason that the order was wrong on several different levels, not cut in half no mail on the sandwich not extra pickles not extra napkins, not extra salt, etc. etc. and everything tasted like onions so of course I don't wanna eat it and I got excuses so I told her I won't use her restaurant again and she said OK. I would recommend that she don't go there because they don't fix things when they screw them up. I have no intention of ordering or going to that restaurant ever again. And it's funny because my nephew used to work there and I used to love the place. Well I guess I'm done with it.

The photos looked incredible, and the stellar reviews confirmed it wasn't just good lighting. I was sold--even if Waze had other ideas! After my GPS took me on a scenic tour of South Bend, I almost gave up. I called the restaurant, and the staff graciously guided me in. From the outside, the brick building looks like a standard office, but once you step inside, you realize you've stumbled upon a total hidden gem. It feels like a beautiful secret. Upon entering, the entire staff welcomed me so warmly that I felt like I was catching up with old friends. I walked past the elegant bar and chose a seat in the dining room. The ambiance is romantic, relaxing, beautifully decorated, and quaint--yet completely comfortable if you are dining alone. I opted for the tasting menu, which is served as a total surprise. For a true foodie, this is pure heaven. I didn't dislike a single dish. In fact, each plate brought so much joy that I caught myself closing my eyes just to savor the flavors and the atmosphere. As I told the staff on my way out: "The food was so good, it makes you want to cry!" (Happy tears, of course!). If you're a local who hasn't been, GO. If you're traveling for work, GO. If you have a special occasion, GO. Life is short--take the road trip to South Bend just for Roselily. The menu changes so I'll be back every chance I get! My only actual complaint? The owner wasn't there for me to beg him to open a second location in Lexington, KY!
