The photos looked incredible, and the stellar reviews confirmed it wasn't just good lighting. I was sold--even if Waze had other ideas! After my GPS took me on a scenic tour of South Bend, I almost gave up. I called the restaurant, and the staff graciously guided me in. From the outside, the brick building looks like a standard office, but once you step inside, you realize you've stumbled upon a total hidden gem. It feels like a beautiful secret. Upon entering, the entire staff welcomed me so warmly that I felt like I was catching up with old friends. I walked past the elegant bar and chose a seat in the dining room. The ambiance is romantic, relaxing, beautifully decorated, and quaint--yet completely comfortable if you are dining alone. I opted for the tasting menu, which is served as a total surprise. For a true foodie, this is pure heaven. I didn't dislike a single dish. In fact, each plate brought so much joy that I caught myself closing my eyes just to savor the flavors and the atmosphere. As I told the staff on my way out: "The food was so good, it makes you want to cry!" (Happy tears, of course!). If you're a local who hasn't been, GO. If you're traveling for work, GO. We did the six-course chef's tasting with wine pairings and every single course delivered. This restaurant sits in a very unassuming building and location, but it's one of those restaurants you can't help but come back to. As you walk inside, it feels a little bit like home. It's cozy, the lights are a little dimmer, and the staff is so kind. There are a few tables all situated in the same area but you can also choose to eat at the bar, with an amazingly nice and kind bartender to keep you company. We tried the Chef's special and let me tell you, it definitely was special. All of the flavors complimented each other so well, and even though there were some foods/flavors I don't typically prefer, the dish was made so well that I had to eat it all. The cadence of the dishes coming to the table were at a good pace and our waitress was very attentive the entire evening. The gnocchi was to die for and the Hamachi base needs to be bottled up and sold separately. Don't be fooled by the location of this restaurant. You go into the back of a warehouse area parking lot but once you go in it's pretty cute. Nice and cozy and the service is very good. We selected the multi course fixed price meals for this special occasion. We came to Roselily this past weekend. Once you get in, you're warmly greeted. As you're seated you walk past the open kitchen, and are introduced to the chefs as you walk past. This is a very cozy space. Maybe 15 tables, plus bar seating. The food! A sampling of apps. Oysters on the half shell (great). Mushroom pate (rich and luxurious). Steak tartare (wonderful). The show stopper was the spaetzle in a tomato and cauliflower sauce, with lobster. This looked like no other spaetzle we've seen. It was simply fantastic. And there was a good amount of lobster. Two ordered the branzino, two of us the ribeye. Our server recommended the ribeyes at medium rare, which is how I like it anyway. The steak was excellent, and the shio kombu butter on top was just perfect. A few sides of potato pave to go along. Those needed salt (plus I like pepper). Everything else was perfectly done. The desert menu was underwhelming for our likes Service was a bit spotty. It really slowed towards the end. What we didn't like was the two unisex restrooms. There is no separation from the dining area and where those are located. We'll be back. Wonderful food, super friendly staff. Plus a 6 course chef's tasting menu looks like fun. read more

My parents love it here, and so it was the perfect place to take them to dinner before heading back to NYC after my holiday visit. We sat at the bar, which is beautiful, and enjoyed a remarkable repast. Every January, Roselily is "taken over" by a unique regional menu, this time one inspired by Greece. Guided by our very warm and knowledgable bartender, Rob, we were given a series of delicious plates, many fresh and innovative takes on Greek classics. Portion sizes, presentation, and pacing were ideal. We also loved our surprisingly delicate ouzo cocktails, dessert, wines etc. Each member of the staff was so welcoming and kind throughout the evening as well. We had a six-course meal (which was really 8 with the amuse-bouche and the chocolates at the end), and I chose to add the $50 wine pairing. Husband had the Champagne Velvet beer. So close to perfection. We stopped in Roselily for dinner on our way back from South Haven to Indy. The fried green tomatoes we had as an appetizer were an absolute revelation of flavor. We both found the novelty of using nasturtium with them engaging. For my entree, I chose the chicken. It was a delightful fusion of Eastern flare with Western comfort food. My friend ordered the steak. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors--while more staid than my chicken--were equally delighting and 5-star. We then ordered all three desserts they had on offer. The coconut panna cotta was the surprising standout of the three as neither of us are huge coconut fans. But like all the food, the chef clearly has a flair for marrying unique flavor profiles in ways that entertain the tastebuds without overwhelming them. So why 3 stars? Real talk--I'm a coffee snob. We both ordered cups of coffee to go with our desserts. The coffee smelled fantastic. And it came to us piping hot, freshly brewed, and presented in quaint old china tea cups. Then I tasted it. I had already noticed that the water glasses during the meal were being filled with tap water that had gone through a water softener. Not a big deal for dinner table water. Unfortunately, the same water was used for the coffee! It tasted awful! I could tell these were expensive, nice beans. They had chocolatey notes and a nice roast to them. But water is the #1 ingredient in coffee. The water softener salt taste overwhelmed the entire cup. That would have only dropped us 1 star. However, I mentioned it to our server when she asked how everything was with the desserts. She seemed taken aback that I should think about the water in my premium cup of coffee. She blurted at me that it was just what they had, couldn't be helped, and rushed off. My husband and I went to celebrate his birthday. We did the tasting menu. We ordered two appetizers, pâté and tartare. There wasn't enough bread to finish them so the server said she'd bring more. She brought 3 small pieces of bread. When we got the bill they charged us $3 for it. This is pretty tacky, especially since dinner was over $100 person. I tried Roselily for brunch while in South Bend visiting Notre Dame. I was immediately pleased to see the plethora of diverse art on the walls of the restaurant and the menu had plenty of options for folks who want breakfast foods or something geared towards lunch. I had the mango Bellini and shrimp and grits with a side of bacon. My partner ordered the chicken and waffles. Both meals were generous and we left feeling more than satisfied. Our favorite brunch spot in South Bend! The quality of ingredients can't be beat. Everything is fresh and mostly locally sourced. Their vegan + vegetarian menus are impressive. My heart is always with with the traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, + potatoes) and this one hits all the high notes, especially with the bacon. This is bacon I dream about, THAT delicious! I love that they have a random assortment of coffee mugs. My toddler loves the pancakes and house made jam. The staff is always so helpful and accommodating. He was able to get two of the things that made him giggle from his chefs tasting previously and ended up getting two main courses (one for a starter and one for a main). It did not disappoint. Been hearing very nice things about Roselilly for a while (one of only 5 AAA 4-Diamond restaurants in the whole state of Indiana), so decided to take advantage of the Restaurant Weeks special to try it out. Nice cozy, "intimate", dining room, quiet, somewhat eclectic decor. Alexander was our server, and he did an outstanding job, very friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable on the dishes and the wines, but every one of the staff was great, as they helped each other out. Serving 6+ courses takes a lot of work. 6 course tasting menu, photo of the menu attached, everything was wonderful. They served an amuse bouche in addition to the 6 courses on the menu, which was a white gazpacho, that was very good. All 6 courses were amazing. My wife had the wine pairings, and was quite pleased with those as well. I'm not into wines, so I had the drink special, which was a watermelon margarita, which I liked as well. My personal favorite was the Hamachi, but the Chou Farsi got a lot of votes from the family. I also loved the Mille Feuille as well. Overall, a very good introduction to Roselilly. Now we'll have to go back for the regular menu. Only down side, as with any fine dining experience, it is a little pricey, but it's worth what you paid for. read more

It's not Au Cheval in Chicago, it's not Sean Brock's Husk or Joyland or Juicy Lucy's in MN please....it's this place with the best burger I have ever eaten (served medium). What can I say?!?! Roselily did not disappoint. We had a delightful experience. The entire staff was exquisite! We met Chef Eammon Owner/ Operator. He is so talented and extremely creative the way he puts his dishes together and the presentation is just as amazing. We did the 8 course VEGAN tasting and boy were our tastebuds having a party. The food seemed like it would never stop coming! Each portion was very small and on sight I'm thinking this little bit of food is just going to tease me, but by the time you are done tasting everything you are truly satiated. I'm a dessert person and one the tastings was this strawberry granita with coconut sorbet and a hibiscus type syrup of some sort! I could've had 8 of those!! But here's the thing...... they change the pairing menu daily!!!!! If I'm not mistaken. That part is a bummer if you find something you really enjoy and want to come back for it. We were visiting from Los Angeles and our nephew brought us here and we were so happy he did. Everyone was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. If you like to sit in the dark and when you can't read the menu and slightly elevate the switch to let more light in. To actually be able to read the menu the floor manager comes over and tells you literally " we let you read the menu " now we DIMM the lights" then it definitely is a perfect ambiance for you. Food looks great but does not taste as great as it looks and halibut is probably the thinnest piece served with broccolini for only $37 I have seen! Service was pleasant. read more
