If I could give this location zero stars I would. This location needs some improvements (specifically this location). We waited for 40mins to get seated and I didn't even get good service. I also didn't get a chance to enjoy my food! I don't mind the wait but only if its worth it. Treatment: Me and my daughter didnt deserve this kind of treatment!!! I had a horrible experience here and wont be back as long as ALISSA is my server!  ALISSA our server gave us the absolute worst experience we ever had at any restaurant in 32 years of living on this earth.  I was very nice and respectful to this young lady. THIS TREATMENT I received was un called for. It was so bad that it resulted in me just walking out. We didn't eat any of the food and I definitely wasnt going to pay for it! Not only that it was extremely late before I got to eat my food because I decided to drive 20 mins to another Bakers Crust. It was worth it because my experience was great at the Greenbrier location! ALISSA: she had us sitting there for 30mins waiting on waffles that she had forget about! She wasn't attentive at all. If she would of checked on us she would of noticed something wasn't right.  She didn't acknowledge us at all. She barely looked at us. We where completely invisible to her. However the family sitting on both sides of  us was completely cared for. She didn't care about us at all. She ruined me and my daughters day! I had to beg for her attention otherwise we would of been seemly "unnoticed ". She never asked if everything was ok. She never even asked "hey would you like anything for your daughter "? What parent will come to a restuarant and eat an entire meal and have their child sit there hungry????? Alissa tried to tell me that I didn't order any waffles and I did. Then she tried to say "well you still gotta pay for the food".  We didn't touch the food. I couldn't eat because, I wanted to eat with my daughter. So I waited and waited and waited for no reason because her food never came..Alissa  forgot my daughters food. There was customers sitting on either side that witnessed the entire event! My food: Scrambled eggs was burned and just had a slice of cheese thrown on it and it wasn't even melted.  I asked for the cheese to be scrambled into the eggs. I could of did better then that at home!!! My drink: my first drink was stuffed with ice from top to bottom. There was so much ice I could barely get the straw in the cup to drink the juice! I asked for a drink with very little ice and I received a drink with very very little juice in it. Even a toddler would of been unsatisfied with the amount of juice that was in that cup. The only thing that was good about coming here was the help I received from one of the nice waiters that was there. I spilled a drink and it was a mess but thanks to her help and kindness everything was ok. Alissa my own server didn't even attempt to help me after I told her "excuse me I have a problem ". This location needs work. We were first seated next to the bathroom and asked if we could move. The waitress got a little snappy (rude) and moved us but it wasn't until I noticed that when I looked up for some reason towards the bar, the woman behind the bar along with 2 waitresses and 1 waiter literally started talking about us in front of us. They mentioned they wanted to move and then the chatter and laughs and stares started. It was truly unprofessional. In the past we have had functions here because it is not too far from the Naval Station but I am already in the process of locating another Resturant who is a little more friendly in that aspect. There is no reason to spend $240.00 and be subject to this unprofessionalism. They could have simply went to the back and spoke about us instead of making us feel uncomfortable. I will ensure to spread the word to my counterparts because there are many other restaurants that will be glad to accommodate us if we were not happy with our seating. read more

Bakers crust is a few minutes away from my house and I still have no idea why I don't go there more often it can get quite busy in there but that hasn't ever been a problem for me I still am always able to get a table right away and if I ever did have to wait it wasn't long at all. They have great service and the food is always consistent ive never had an issue with anything I've ever order and I've never had to send anything back. This time around I got the Lemon curd and blueberry pancakes with a side of the maple sausage links. Y'all I'm hooked! I went to both the Ghent and Greenbrier location in one day; for breakfast the Mediterranean omelet was exactly what I needed to start my day. Paired with the Wine Country salad and a mimosa, and my day was golden. At the end of the evening I had a craving for tomato bisque and so that what I ordered for my meal, with an appetizer of fries (fantastic if dipped in the tomato and cheese soup) and a very large Mediterranean salad. Went out from brunch on a Friday, parking was easy and plenty vacant tables. I must say the service was exceptional at that time, we were greeted and seated right away. After drinks we ordered and food came out, I'm not sure how long we waited but it was rather quick. I've never seen pancakes so big, they were fluffy and comforting. So thankful to find this place! I'm gluten free so options are limited/hard to find and I was thrilled with my options and the care of my allergy. All of the staff we encountered were great - we especially loved our bartender! He was kind, friendly and timely, and didn't stop moving the whole time we were there! Was honestly impressive. I wish I remembered his name so I could give him a personal shout-out. Onto the food - DELICIOUS! Between my boyfriend and I, we had the GF bacon Mac and cheese, GF French onion soup, three of the four GF pizza options; and because my boyfriend is not GF, he was able to enjoy their chicken shawarma sandwich and their Carolina chicken sandwich - both of which he loved. The shawarma was MASSIVE - what a meal for the price. And I have to say, I used to love love love French onion soup, and this is the first restaurant I have been to that actually makes the gluten free one with bread. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND. read more

Good wood fired pizza! I was hoping the dough would be made with 00 flour like the traditional Neapolitan style pizza, but it didn't have the usual consistency or taste like it. The crust was closer to the normal you expect from most pizza joints. The service was great though and the pizza did hit the spot! They had good specials on burgers and bourbon tonight, but after seeing the wood fire pizza oven, I knew it had to be a Margherita Pizza w/ pepperoni added. My family and I have been frequent customers of this location for about half a year since our move. Proximity to where we live, friendly service, gluten free options, and a relatively kid friendly environment have all been reasons for our returning again and again. Most recently, just a few days ago, we were served moldy food. Visible mold, luckily, so I was able to spot it. My burger bun had little bits picked out and other spots of green (which I first mistook for some other food having grazed against it), and finally the fuzzy black mold that I then also spotted on my husband's bun. We had to wait a while before our server came back to make sure everything was ok. I was going to ignore that we were given the wrong salad dressings and that my burger was undercooked (I asked for well done and was given a medium/medium rare, but because I'm pregnant it was important to me) because I didn't want to come off as difficult. And even though we ordered gluten free buns due to an allergy at the table the server did not ask if our order was allergy related (which is the practice at this restaurant) to ensure other items, like the salad dressing, don't have gluten (so much stuff does these days). When we were finally checked on, we received big apologies and even the manager came out to apologize. We were polite and didn't want to make a big deal out of it or give our server a hard time about the other things that were wrong with our order. We had to wait again for our burgers. Meanwhile, we have already been there about 1.5 hours and our toddler's patience and french fries were running out. The second round had no mold, but the burgers were a bit burned (better than undercooked in my case), but definitely tasted a bit bitter as a result. Fine. We were not given new silverware even though one set was taken with the first moldy order. So my husband and I had to take turns with one fork to eat our salads. Fine. These aren't huge errors, but when these consistent acts of lack of attention pile up your experience really feels like they don't care about you and all that friendliness is just fake. The result? Didn't even get a discount for the moldy food and having to wait even longer for the right order. Not even some token free dessert (which is a hard skip for me anyway because that gf chocolate cake is hard as a rock and flavorless), or free drink. Some token gesture to not make us pay full price for our time and also safety (btw I took a huge bite of the beef before I saw that it was undercooked, luckily I took the top bun off first because I wanted to remove some of it before eating it too, so I didn't eat the mold, but I did eat undercooked meat). I know they wouldn't appreciate a verbal tip, but they certainly didn't put their money where their mouth is with their very big issues. Wonder if the health department has checked up on them recently... After this experience I genuinely feel like they just don't care. There is not attention to detail when it comes to the food and it has shown up in flat out harmful ways. I simply don't trust them now. Their practice seems to be "smile and hope the customer doesn't notice." Take a look in your/your child's fruit cup next time; how many past due pieces of fruit do you see (I've had to remove almost half of the pieces in the past)? How's that gf pizza--they specialize in gf things after all? Is is burnt around the edges? Happened to us too, at least then we got a free pie! But still this is an indication that you need to cook it at a different temperature, need a new recipe, thicker dough, different oven...something. Orapax has gf pizzas with no burnt crusts. It is possible. The attitude that "well the gf one just burns in the pizza oven *shrug*" is exactly the overall ethos of this place. All our servers have been friendly and you can tell people are smiley even under masks, but their food safety and quality needs some serious work. Also the gf bagged chips that come as the gf option are cheap and gross. And your gf entrees are both seafood, not very imaginative for a place that boasts a separate gf menu and awareness about the allergy. And your wine is usually served too warm (both red and white). I'll keep adding to the list of minor offenses as I recall them... Next time I'm going to 5 Guys for my smash burger and I'll gladly eat it out of a lettuce wrap because service there is just as friendly, the burger is cheaper and just as satisfying, and they have a 99/100 health score. What's your health score Baker's Crust? Summary: they smile but just don't seem to care, so check your food for your own safety... Edit: I hope the manager's comment gives future patrons a sense of security in the food safety. My other issues with quality remain. And yes, we were gracious customers and always tip well, but a discount would have been nice (and expected). read more

It's always great to have a big parking lot right in front of where ur going. OK, not food. But found parking difficult to find in the area at times so thought would lead with that. Great ambiance. I have been to Bakers Crust a few times and each time is better than the last. Even though the foods a bit on the higher end it's absolutely fantastic. I had the Asiago chicken and it was perfect! I took a group here on Aug 23rd as part of a regular Friday night dinner outing. This group visits many different restaurants. We used to come here often, but they changed the menu so much we started going elsewhere. I'm pleased to say several items which had been taken off the menu have been added back. The food, as always, was good. Our server was very knowledgeable, she was friendly, and she quite efficient. The down side to the entire visit was the 3.5% service charge added to our tab. This was added to everyone's tab whether it was paid by credit card or by cash. To be fair, notice of this charge is printed on the menu, albeit in the smallest type possible. Although touted as a hedge against inflation, in reality it's simply a charge for the privilege of eating at Baker's Crust. Printed prices on the menu are what one would expect at most restaurants in 2024. Menus can be easily changed. Management claims they do this to keep menu prices reasonable in an inflationary economy. If the menu price isn't what the customers will wind up paying, isn't that just a used car salesman's trick? Our table's total was easily in the $300 dollar range. For the sake of a $9.50 surcharge for the privilege of eating there, this group will not return. Others must resent this charge as well - the restaurant was not especially busy during regular dinner time on a Friday night. Kitchen service was a bit slow, but that was offset by the good food served. Again, this complaint rests solely on the price gouging management seems to think is acceptable. Frank A. The atmosphere is lively. We are here for a group holiday celebration. The calimari appetizer was phenomenal. They were cooked perfectly and the crust was flaky with yummy dipping sauce. I ordered the smokin turkey Blt with corn and crab chowder the chowder was too spicy and the bread was too thin on the sandwich. I tasted the parmesan chips and they were flavorful. Great at catering healthy food. Portions are reasonable and everything is packaged nicely. I got the chicken shawarma and Atlantic salmon. Both were great and felt very healthy. Only criticism is that they kind of overdo their dressing/sauces. For example, the chicken shawarma had way too much tzaziki sauce (which says a lot coming from a tzaziki fan). Went out here to for the thirsty Thursdays and ended up not getting any of the specials =) One of our favorite appetizers is the french fry with special dipping sauce combo. It's not uncommon for us to get more than one order b/c we love them THAT much. The beer selection is rather decent. Not a beer place all in itself but they definitely hold their own with their choices. I had the Applewood smoked bacon and egg cheeseburger and while I'm fairly confident I ate two days' worth of servings in one meal, I loved every bit of it. When my wife asked about their tacos versus something else, our waitress Chelsea, said the tacos where phenomenal. This is a rather high bar considering my wife is a big fan of tacos. Much to her delight, as soon as she bit in to one, she said: "Omg these are amazing." So much so that she refused to share with me (that's a first). I'm glad this place has been keeping their standards high. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic. I even told the manager as she was professional, courteous, and quick to answer/resolve any issues we had. Definitely would come back and if Chelsea is working, I know I'd request her area. This place is a little hidden and walking in, it is much bigger then I thought it was from the outside. My husband and I went for brunch, because who doesn't love brunch. I ordered a burger and my husband had the fried chicken benedict on a sweet potato biscuit. My burger was delicious, it was cooked perfectly and the bun held up well. The cheese was gooey and the sauteed onions well prepared. The burger was spot on medium and had a nice flavour to it. My husband on the other hand loves his fried chicken and this fried chicken was on the more bland side. The hollandaise sauce was Ok, but the egg was cooked perfectly. Sadly the sweet potato biscuit wasn't fluffy, the bottom was hard and the biscuit was just to dense. I did order a bloody mary, as I have to try all of them! Another stop on the resurant exploration trail for my friend Isaac and I. I've always heard good things about Baker's Crust for a long time and I just recently got a chance to expierence it for myself. As soon as we walked in it were were seated and our waitress was both friendly and helpful despite it being busy for dinner time. Our drinks (a lemonade for me, and a coke for my friend, stayed full). To eat I got the Chareslton chicken & avacado sandwich with bacon, fries, and a side of ranch, while my friend got the chicken & broccoli bow tie pasta. And I can vouch for the both of us, the food was delicious. Didn't have room for dessert; however, all the goodies in the bakery section looked delicious. I'm going to have to return to try it out sometime. Overall, I can reccomend Baker's Crust in Norfolk as an upstanding, clean establishment with good food and friendly service. read more

I came here on a lunch break with a coworker the other day. It was pretty empty inside the restaurant, I believe there was only one other table in there with us. We were never greeted when we walked in. Upon sitting down, it took forever for a waitress to come up to us. She took our drink orders and asked "do you need menus?" ... Like, yes, that would be very helpful. I decided to get a Cobb salad with a chicken sandwich. The salad was good, it was a good size and was very pretty & fresh. The sandwich, however, wasn't at all what I imagined. Flavorless and soggy. The waitress also forgot to bring me my salad dressing. No biggie, but she, along with any other waitstaff, were no where to be found. We had to go to the counter and ask. When they did bring it to us, it was in the smallest little sauce cup ever. The Baker's Crust is a great place for brunch, in fact, if you looked under the dictionary for "brunch," I'm sure you'll find the address to the Baker's Crust! I went here for brunch with two friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Although it was a packed house, we got our seats pretty quickly. The menu was very surprising. It was pretty large and there was something on the menu for lunch or breakfast. There were also great brunch cocktails specials. I settled on the mimosa (ask for a flavored syrup like peach for a yummy treat!) and the Maryland Omelette. OK, this omelette was what dreams are made of! It had lump crab meat, creamy hollandaise sauce, tomato, and all-around, it's was a mouthwatering experience. The omelette was served with perfectly crispy hashbrowns and toast. I substituted my toast for an English muffin and got a seasonal fruit mix on the side. The food was really great! The inside is spacious and has a bakery vibe, and I believe that you can purchase breads and other bakery assortments here too. If you're ever in the Ghent area but are looking for an escape from the overwhelming (and not always great) food spots on Colley, head to 21st Street and try the Baker's Crust!
