Nice place, great service and really good variety, except it has no senior menu options. They won't let a senior order the smaller kids portion either. We were told, "Nobody over 10 is allowed to order off the kids menu. They are very serious about that.". The kids size is right for a senior and a full serving is way too much. She took our order and it didn't take long for our food to arrive. They made sure that our coffee cup was filled. The food and service was great. Here's my complaint. The owner walked around twice since we sat down and talked to everyone at each table but ours. We could hear their conversation, Some he knew and some he didn't because he introduced himself. But he just walked past us. He made us feel invisible so that's why I only gave three stars for the food and the waitress. I want to say I know the reason why but I won't. Drove by this place a few times and decided that I would stop in for breakfast one day so I did. The restaurant was pretty calm and seating was plenty. I was greeted almost immediately and told someone would be with me shortly. After about five minutes I was escorted to my table and given a menu and had my drink order taken while I perused the menu. When the waitress came back I placed my order and continued to scope out the restaurant. The decor is somewhat old school and unique if you had to ask me. The customers seem to enjoy themselves and the staff were friendly and kind, several came by and spoke and held small chit chat while making their rounds. After about ten minutes or so, my food arrived. Not too shabby. The presentation itself was enough to satisfy me. However the food was good enough to warrant another visit as well. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly person and even though they looked really busy we were seated immediately. Our first time here. Looked over the lunch menu. Our waitress was so great. Very friendly and helpful. I asked about the Gyro. She gave me recommendations and I went with it. Great food. Came out fresh and hot. Love the fries. So much food we got a to go box. I love this place the food is good. Unfortunately, the flies are not under control. Who wants to eat in an infested fly restaurant? No me!! The waitress act as if it was okay since they are all throughout the restaurant. Can you imagine the kitchen with flies infesting everything? I was imagining it and decided to leave. Brought my mom, brother, and sister in law for brunch. We were greeted and sat immediately. The walls are painted with chics beach from years ago. Very homey and comfortable. Good food, fair prices. We stopped by Sunday after church for brunch. My wife had the chicken benny. A good take on eggs Benedict with thinly sliced fried chicken instead of ham. I had the country fried steak with grits and pancakes instead of toast ($1 extra). My steak was great. Tender, no gristle. Grits are grits. Three eggs over easy done just right. I have partaken in their lunch but have eaten twice for breakfast. The customer service was good the first time, but not so much the second time--we waited quite a bit for lemons, napkins, and our bill. We watched several people who came after us leave before us, and we were still waiting. Now to the food. While I can't remember what I ate the first time I visited, I do remember what I drank--a wonderful flight of mimosas. I knew the food was good enough to be willing to give it a second try. The freshly squeezed orange on this trip was phenomenal. This time around, I grabbed the crabby omelet. My omelet was good and cheesy, with lump crab meat. I could tell someone was in the back cracking crabs open because, with every fifth bite, there was a piece of shell in my omelet. I slowly started building a pile of shells, slowing my eating. Love the remodel from the old restaurant though the booth benches along the wall are the same (uncomfortable). I'm very happy they kept the mural and was delighted by the addition of bar seating. Very friendly staff from the hostess, Tara, to our waitress. Very surprised and happy to see someone I knew from way back when. Food came out fast even though they were busy and all our orders were correct. The only complaint was that the home fries weren't seasoned. Roosters is a local diner off shore drive in Virginia Beach. You can tell the cafe is popular as it's normally very busy on the weekends. I've visited twice and both times I was let down by their service and the quality of the food. As regulars of the old location, we came to the new location on 04/30/23 around 1030am, knowing that there could be a wait which there was and the hostess took our number and we waited in our car. Once they called us to let us know our table was ready it was so awesome to see them so busy and that the staff from the old location were there. Sarah was our server and she is so wonderful every time. She remembers my name which is awesome. They were extremely busy and hustling as best they could with the crowd. We ordered the Lobster Bisque (which is so good), Southern Benedict special and my favorite the Greek Salad wrap with fries. Service was a bit slow and their ticketing system had gone down for a moment but we were just sitting back and watching the crowd as we waited. It did not bother us as we knew it would be busy and they are still working out their kinks with the new location. Popped in here on my way home from a solo day trip and was highly impressed. Everyone was friendly, the service was top notch, and the restaurant itself is absolutely adorable and homey. They carry the rooster/farm theme all the way into the bathrooms with art, wall hangings, and cute framed quotes. The entire place is very clean and cozy and I'm glad I noticed them and stopped in. I had the Chicken Benny and it was a fantastic late breakfast option. The chicken was well seasoned and crispy. Home fries were also well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. The eggs were poached to perfection, and I left satisfied and full. I've seen some other reviews mentioning small portion sizes for the price, but I was quite happy with my plate. So, I was a big fan of the first Rooster Café location on Northampton Blvd. But upon visiting the new one on Pleasure House Rd, I had an even more positive experience than the last!! The inside of the restaurant is very nice and newly remodeled. They have a bar now, offering different mixed drinks and breakfast shots. Their bakery section also seems to be expanded, offering red velvet cake, cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake, coffee cake, and carrot cake - in addition to their usual baklava. Admittedly, my boyfriend and I had attempted to go to Bay Local on Shore Dr that morning but parking was absolutely packed. So... we decided on Rooster, but I still had the craving for some seafood in my mind. Therefore, I got the fried fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw. I was a bit skeptical ordered it there, but the sandwich was actually one of the best I've ever had. It was delicious!!! The fish was crispy and had a fresh taste. It wasn't dry at all either, it was quite tender and cooked perfectly. Yum!!! The coleslaw was also tasty! I love sweet slaw. And their fries.... soo crispy and flavorful! My boyfriend got the country fried steak platter. He did a sidekick pancake instead of the toast, 2 over-well eggs, and home fries on the side. It looked really tasty. I was half thinking I should have got breakfast by how yummy it looks. But both of us were beyond delighted with our meals, and all the while, our fantastic waitress was making sure our drinks were filled and that we had everything we needed. After our meal, I grabbed a piece of carrot cake to go. It was fresh and tasty! It had a lot of raisins, which you may or may not like. We used to drive by the old location every day but never tried it. We are SO glad they moved to Pleasure House! They have fantastic breakfasts but their hamburgers are the best in town! Juicy and so delicious! Great selections for breakfast and lunch with added specials. They recently added avocado toast with a balsamic drizzle. My husband loves the Hatteras clam chowder. It is very obvious that the owner uses top quality ingrediants. The staff and servers are professional and very pleasant and always provide great service. We love this new location. It's not very far from the old one but at least 2 1/2 times the size. And they now have a liquor license. The food was great as always as was the service. My improvements would be to take care of the ceiling leak and replace the discolored tiles and offer an omelet with less than 3 eggs. I can't eat that much. I'd like to visit a few more times, mostly because we had a 4/5 star experience this past weekend. I came by for breakfast with my kids a little after 9 AM on Saturday, 4/22 and was told there would be a 15 minute wait. They took my name, I brought the kids outside to keep the front area from crowding, and it was definitely 15 minutes. Madeline (so sorry if I misspelled her name!) was our waitress and she was very sweet and as attentive as she could be. It was very busy, and she had quite a few tables, but we never waited long for drink and coffee refills. She took our order relatively quickly and my kids were thrilled with their Mickey Mouse pancakes. I had the crab cake eggs benedict and it was not bad. The poached eggs were great, and the hollandaise was good. I brought home a breakfast skillet for my husband and he said it was "good, pretty good." Please keep in mind this is a popular location, and they're adjusting to a new work space and getting their flow back as cooks and servers.
