Drove by this place a few times and decided that I would stop in for breakfast one day so I did. The restaurant was pretty calm and seating was plenty. I was greeted almost immediately and told someone would be with me shortly. After about five minutes I was escorted to my table and given a menu and had my drink order taken while I perused the menu. When the waitress came back I placed my order and continued to scope out the restaurant. The decor is somewhat old school and unique if you had to ask me. The customers seem to enjoy themselves and the staff were friendly and kind, several came by and spoke and held small chit chat while making their rounds. After about ten minutes or so, my food arrived. Not too shabby. The presentation itself was enough to satisfy me. However the food was good enough to warrant another visit as well. Nothing that'll blow your socks off but just good ol fashioned breakfast food. Salt and pepper to your taste. You're welcome.

Roosters is a great local spot with large portions and great prices. The food was delicious, and hot. The service is beyond friendly and sweet. When you come here you feel like you are home. This is a must especially if you are looking for an incredible breakfast.

I'm gonna need to move them down to a not recommended. I've been a semi regular since they opened at their new location. Earlier this week a service dog was in the restaurant which was ok by law. But the male hostess was constantly petting the dog and never washed his hands. This is disgusting! He also was wiping tables down. Staff has been great! Food meh, waffle is best thing on menu for me. Coffee weak sauce. But obviously no supervision if this is going on with unsanitary conditions. I will not return and regret going nuclear with a 1 star.

Why haven't I tried this place before! It's not like you have displays of roosters everywhere inviting you to come! Lol So when you come in I can't say much about the plain furnishings, but they do place cute rooster decore for that home country feeling. Plus the service was excellent. I know it's been here a long while. So it's gonna be good. Also feel that good vibe knowing it's a local favorite. Let's dive in....so I ordered "Crabby Benny & Side of Bacon " I always order the hollandaise sauce on the side,as I like to taste my food and not smother it with too much sauce. Wow! When they brought out the benny my eyes lit. I never seen the muffin so big. I was pleasantly surprised! Most places have standard muffin, so you never see it underneath the toppings, but this was so cool as the muffin was large (see pic). Benny was perfectly delicious, and they pouched the eggs just right! And they packed the Benny with a good amount of crab. The home fries was nice and crispy along with the side of Bacon. Just how I like them. Let's just say I left very happy and content. I definitely will go back! The food and vibe was great!

Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly person and even though they looked really busy we were seated immediately. Our first time here. Looked over the lunch menu. Our waitress was so great. Very friendly and helpful. I asked about the Gyro. She gave me recommendations and I went with it. Great food. Came out fresh and hot. Love the fries. So much food we got a to go box. Later on the food was still delicious. They have a lot to offer. Casual but I still like to dress nice. They serve breakfast and lunch all day but we only concentrated on the lunch portion. Even on a busy Saturday they were great. If you out this way. Drop in. We had such a great experience we will be back

Brought my mom, brother, and sister in law for brunch. We were greeted and sat immediately. The walls are painted with chics beach from years ago. Very homey and comfortable. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the stuffed French toast with blueberries, sausage, and over easy eggs. Everything was cooked to perfection. I will be coming back. It's a very nice mom and pops locals spot.

Chicken benny - eggs Benedict and home fries

Good food, fair prices. We stopped by Sunday after church for brunch. My wife had the chicken benny. A good take on eggs Benedict with thinly sliced fried chicken instead of ham. I had the country fried steak with grits and pancakes instead of toast ($1 extra). My steak was great. Tender, no gristle. Grits are grits. Three eggs over easy done just right. The pancakes were good, and I saved them for last like a dessert. The two of us were stuffed and left a good deal eggs and home fries behind. The house won this round. Total price 30 bucks.

Out of town girl here! And let me tell you how much I enjoyed having breakfast here. The place is cute with all the rooster decorations! I loved it. The girls were super nice to us and took our order right away. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I'll definitely come back here whenever I'm back in town.

Servers were super nice and welcoming. The place was calm, even with all the tables they had to handle - Kudos to the staff! The food was good and plentiful for the amount you pay. The eggs, pancakes and potatoes were all cooked perfectly. Would definitely come again for breakfast.

Love the remodel from the old restaurant though the booth benches along the wall are the same (uncomfortable). I'm very happy they kept the mural and was delighted by the addition of bar seating. Very friendly staff from the hostess, Tara, to our waitress. Very surprised and happy to see someone I knew from way back when. Food came out fast even though they were busy and all our orders were correct. The only complaint was that the home fries weren't seasoned. Everything was hot and we appreciated the gentleman who went around making sure everyone's coffee was filled. I def will be back.

    New Location - Specials 04/30/23
    Tina Z.

As regulars of the old location, we came to the new location on 04/30/23 around 1030am, knowing that there could be a wait which there was and the hostess took our number and we waited in our car. Once they called us to let us know our table was ready it was so awesome to see them so busy and that the staff from the old location were there. Sarah was our server and she is so wonderful every time. She remembers my name which is awesome. They were extremely busy and hustling as best they could with the crowd. We ordered the Lobster Bisque (which is so good), Southern Benedict special and my favorite the Greek Salad wrap with fries. Service was a bit slow and their ticketing system had gone down for a moment but we were just sitting back and watching the crowd as we waited. It did not bother us as we knew it would be busy and they are still working out their kinks with the new location. We will continue to be regulars here and I know that they will eventually get their rhythm going like they did at their old location. So please be patient with them :)

    Chicken Benny
    Amanda S.

Popped in here on my way home from a solo day trip and was highly impressed. Everyone was friendly, the service was top notch, and the restaurant itself is absolutely adorable and homey. They carry the rooster/farm theme all the way into the bathrooms with art, wall hangings, and cute framed quotes. The entire place is very clean and cozy and I'm glad I noticed them and stopped in. I had the Chicken Benny and it was a fantastic late breakfast option. The chicken was well seasoned and crispy. Home fries were also well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. The eggs were poached to perfection, and I left satisfied and full. I've seen some other reviews mentioning small portion sizes for the price, but I was quite happy with my plate. Will definitely be stopping in next time I'm in the 757 to try some other menu items. The dessert case particularly caught my eye, but I was too full to sample anything! Definitely check them out if you're visiting the area.

    The roosters special.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV
