This restaurant advertises itself as "gluten friendly" which inadvertently awkward. That's like saying you're "STD friendly" because that's not something anyone ever asks for, I hope. We've eaten here before and it was a good experience. I ordered "safe" and genuinely enjoyed the meal. We stopped in on a weekend visit, and I asked about the gluten free pancakes. The server immediately explained the pancakes were cooked on the same grill as regular, which would make it a hard pass. My husband, who owns a conference and event management company asked if they could make the pancakes in a "clean pan" on the grill. She asked the kitchen, and they agreed. So, I got to have really outstanding gf pancakes with banana slices and it was Christmas on a plate. This alone guarantees I'll be back and will recommend this to others. On the flip side, the scrambled eggs were rubbery and the apple chicken sausage tasted like a depressed half smoke that gave up on life at a young age. The syrup looked and tasted watered down. Asked for a tea refill and they just added hot water. No additional lemon slice or tea bag. The takeaway bag doesn't even fit the boxes. The soap in the bathroom was also watered down. This location just seems to try and cut corners. For the positives the smoked salmon Benedict was a unique menu item that I enjoyed. I will say the peach French toast was delicious and a perfect addition to a seasonal menu. Raspberry white chocolate cold brew was also good another great seasonal menu item. Lots of booth seating. My family and I visited this restaurant for brunch on February 28th. The atmosphere is a casual setting, and there is an option of booths or standard table seating. We were greeted with professionalism when we arrived and were seated promptly. We ordered a variety of drinks as well as entrees. The pineapple berry agua fresca was absolutely tasty and refreshing. Everyone enjoyed their food. Each dish had a good portion size. Besides the drink mentioned above, some of our favorites included the cajun shrimp & crawfish omelette, the apple crunch French toast, and the shrimp and grits. We had two mishaps. The Hendricks Hurricane drink was not mixed appropriately; there were clumps of coconut floating around in it giving the appearance of spoiled milk, and it also did not taste good, so we had to return it. Secondly, I ordered my omelette without the andouille sausage as I am allergic to pork. Unfortunately, as I was eating my omelette, I happened to see that the middle had a few pieces of sausage in it. I informed the server of the situation. She handled it quickly, very professionally, and was proactive in providing a resolution. The manager also came over to apologize for the situation and ensure that the resolution was adequate. I was highly impressed with their Customer Service. I felt that they genuinely valued me as a customer and wanted to make sure that the situation was adequately rectified. This was truly appreciated. Didn't mark it down star wise because I have been here before several times and service was fine. She came over and advised another waffle would be out soon because she did notate the tenders should've on the side. What, a brunch place on Sunday morning without a wait... should've been a red flag. We were greeted and seated quickly. Tried talking to the waitress to get a kids order in early while we adults were still trying to decided. She gave us about 15 seconds before she no longer had patience for my 2 year old to order and said she'd come back when we were really ready. Uh. Ok. The menu items ALL sounded amazing. Eventually I ordered 1/2 beignets, apple fritter French toast with eggs over easy and sausage. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast with an add on of pancakes. The $5 pancakes were so tiny and luke warm. My MIL also got the fritter. I'd say the fritter had a yummy flavor and was filling - a 8/10. The sausage that came with it was delicious - 9/10. Beignets were hot but hard, 6/10. My son had difficulty eating them and I had to cut them. We asked about the tiny pancakes and she said if we ordered them differently then they would have been normal size (same price) but because we added them to the meal, they are tiny (ie they were trash). Traditional meal for what you get for the cost of $20, totally not worth it- 4/10. My mother in law tried talking to the waitress and while she was mid sentence the waitress walked off. I was absolutely thrilled when I found out this new breakfast/brunch spot was open in the Hilltop area. Since we were close by on a Friday afternoon, we just had to stop in and try it out. The Biscuit Beignets were served first and I loved them! They were covered in a generous amount of powdered sugar which made them pretty sweet but they were really good. The Shrimp & Grits weren't bad but they had a strong Worcestershire-like taste to them that was a bit off putting. I did add some salt, pepper and hot sauce and it definitely helped. My daughter enjoyed her omelette and the pancakes were absolutely delicious. We did order a mocktail and a mimosa and they both were great, very refreshing. Overall, I will definitely be returning back to try the other items. I love the modern rustic decor, it definitely gives the restaurant a unique feel. Ambiance was great and the service was great, but I hate to say the food was awful. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my partner had the country power bowl. The bacon was decent and flavorful, but everything else was so bland it practically tasted like cardboard. No amount of salt or pepper could fix the gravy, imagine a spoonful of soggy flour on top of (I will say, decent) biscuits. My partner's grits were also completely flavorless and watery, along with everything else in the bowl. We hate wasting food, but unfortunately most of it was inedible and we ended up paying while leaving full plates behind. I liked it for the most part taste wise but I felt that it was expensive for it being cinnamon rolls that seemed just like Pillsbury ones. But it did taste good with the fresh berries. I really loved the flavor of their homemade sausage patties. My partner got an omelette and said it was good. The potatoes and their gravy were underwhelming. So disappointed with this place. I think they were short in the kitchen. First, their website has a waitlist that means nothing at all. I checked in with the host when we got there and they had no electronic waitlist and just wrote my name down as if I was a walk in. The manager told me "you still have to put your name on this list ". I felt like telling him, that is not the purpose of a waitlist and that's not how it works. So then he told us it was only a 15 minute wait only to find that he told everyone that as they walked in! We ended up waiting over 35 minutes and then finally sat down and the waitress was very kind and took our order right away. It was clear after waiting 50 minutes for our food on top of the unexpected 35 minute wait to be seated that there kitchen was backed up. How do you not tell your customers??? She said she would drop off some food and be back to take our order. She did not come back. I had to flag her down 15 mins later. We then ordered a spiked cold brew, the Hey Lucy omelette and crab benedict and asked for lemons. She didn't write anything down. About 20 mins went by and my drink still wasn't delivered nor were the lemons. We asked another waitress at that time if she could find our waitress and locate the drink and lemons. She did which was great. Then another roughly 30 mins went by before our food came. One dish was incorrect so she had to take it back. At this point I had waited over an hour from the time we ordered food to eat. Other tables that ordered after us received their food before us. I have waitressed for many years and if my food takes over an hour it should be comped. Now to the good part, the spiked cold brew was delicious and my dad enjoyed his omelette. He said it was flavorful with the chorizo and the salsa was good on it. I liked the crab in my benedict but I think the Cajun benedict sauce would've been better with shrimp. I wish I would've asked for the herb benedict sauce instead. It was all made well but I would try something different next time.
