Great service and very good breakfast fares. Limited sittings but the clientele's ability to eat and exit the restaurant made for a quicker service. The restaurant is decorated with travel memorabilia particularly Buccee's magnets possibly from all existing Buccee's stores. Old music boxes on the counter adds a retro feel to the atmosphere. I have had both breakfast and lunch here. Both I thoroughly enjoyed. This is an old fashioned type diner that is typically packed. Been around a long time where generations have gone to eat. It has a counter with seating and about 7 or so tables. The counter is shoulder to shoulder. In COVID not sure that is wise. I am telling you the best thing not on the menu is the cinnamon roll pancakes. So good! Seriously doesn't even need syrup. Eggs and corn beef hash delish too. Hash browns top notch too. For lunch I had a burger. Nothing to write home about but it was okay. Breakfast is where it's at. Parking is all over and anywhere. No designated lot but lots of available parking. Servers are nice and helpful. Prices very reasonable. This place is a keeper! read more

I've never had a basted egg. Never even heard of it. Somewhere in between sunny side up and poached; a delectable yolk sauce. Surprise! 2 huge pancakes, real blueberries. Apparently cinnamon roll pancakes are always on deck, thank goodness. They remind me of being at my grandparents annual anniversary gathering, at the Crescent Beach Hotel, a memorable brunch to be sure. It coincided with Easter so there was always a terrifying bunny afoot. They had this similar tasting pastry that I looked forward to with a Christmas Eve-type fervor. Soothing to find that flavor again, memories of always over eating and never regretting it. A real down-home, 'forty years at Swagelok' kind of place, families knowing families. I'm not from Ohio but Kleifeld's made me feel like I was in all the best ways. I brought my own maple syrup, no offense, just a breakfast requirement of mine. You will leave this place with a box or leave overfed, stuffed with twinkles in your eyes. The jukeboxes on the counter aren't functional, but we all already knew this. It's the sentiment. This time, my third time eating here, working on this review. Should I get pancakes again? The tantalizing basted egg? It's your birthday breakfast, a Monday, I'm on vacation, a wedding in NYC this weekend. My very close aunt died this morning, but I will not tell you until later, in bed, the safety of comfort. Just like this diner, the safety of the cinnamon roll pancake shared amongst friends and quintessential diner coffee. No TV's, no music, no distractions from love and sustenance. You touch my leg, I want to break down and weep about losing Deb, but I refuse to jar your special day. I stopped in for breakfast with my wife while we had work done on her car. She had never been there and it is around the corner from my office. We sat down and were asked if we wanted coffee. We got them a few minutes later. A table of 5 sat next to us about 5 minutes later and they were given waters and had their order taken. It bothered me a little, but I was letting it go even though we had been ready to order. She put their order in and a table of 3 sat next to them and she brought waters to them also and then took their order. We had been sitting for 10 minutes, easily, ready to order. At that point, I had had enough. We got up and paid for the coffee and left. We went around the corner and ate at another breakfast place and it was delicious. I was very disappointed in Kleifelds. There were enough people working and even saw some of the servers sitting with other customers as if there was no hurry. read more

Great little diner right smack in Willoughby. Lots of locals and all the standard fare. Burgers are juicy. I recommend the Kleifeld. Grilled onions AND mushrooms with Swiss. Yummers. Hubby got Chicken fried Steak. Super crispy outside and awesome country gravy. Fries were glistening and crispy. Just like I like them. Breakfast is served here too but they aren't open for dinner. I have a feeling that the only reason this place stays in business is because 60-90 year old Eastlake/Willowick/Willoughby residents have fond memories and visit for nostalgia purposes. I don't know if my tastebuds have gotten snobbier or if their food has always been this terrible. One extra star cause their hashbrowns are crispy and not soggy or overly greasy. 1. Pancakes were dry, bland and flavorless 2. "Best coffee always"? LIES!!! I tasted more water than coffee. Weakest coffee I've ever had. 3. From what others have said I heard they don't use fresh beef/chicken and their "chicken fried steak" is a frozen, ground up, processed soggy pre breaded patty that isn't even made in house. 4. I saved the worst for last, the use FUCKING MARGARINE!!! That shit's so bad not even ants and cockroaches will eat it. When I requested butter they told me they don't carry it. What kind of mom n pop diner in the Midwest doesn't have BUTTER?!?! There's a fine line between being frugal and being cheap and don't give me the excuse that money is tight b/c COVID. I finally made it here. I'm always in the area but could never make it here because of the hours and my work schedule. This is a strict breakfast/lunch spot in the lovely downtown willoughby. It's been here for YEARS. Like the 1920s YEARS. It was taken over by a young couple within the last couple of years. It's still a small diner with a long countertop with stool seats and a few tables inside. Very small but the original OG diner. Even has a juke box on the counter that still works. No frills or pretentious vibe like some other places. Come as you are. I came in after a yoga class around 11ish am and it was just about empty. That's a rare occasion after the reviews I've read. I hear this place gets Packed packed. Now I know why. They have a breakfast menu of your basic fare with omelettes, pancakes, eggs, oatmeal, coffee, juice, etc. and a lunch menu with sandwiches and burgers etc. I was starving after my power yoga class so I decided on an omelette with cheddar and added Swiss too. It comes with breakfast potatoes and toast. Food came out super quick! Perfectly cooked omelette and extra cheesy just the way I like it. Potatoes were awesome. Real big chunks of potatoes cooked on the flat top I assume because of the crispness. What shocks me are the prices. Super cheap but great food! My meal and coffee was 7.75$! Say what?? Good on the wallet and great on the belly. This a homey spot. It seems like it's the spot for the locals and regulars. The people inside seemed to know the waitress well. I kinda felt like the odd one out but eh. I was just enjoying my food. Parking can be tough in downtown willoughby. Street parking availability is hard to find but I got lucky because of the time of day and got a spot right out front. There is a parking lot by willoughby brewing company or free parking down the street by the park. You would just have to walk a little. This is a great place to get great food for less with friendly service. Just be prepared to wait, especially in the morning or weekend. read more

For the first time in ten years i stopped in yesterday, i ask about the corned beef sandwich, the server told me people loved it, Now i eat corned beef on a semi reg basis, This sandwich was the worst CB i have ever eaten, I should have sent it back, it looked like it was stored in the ref. and all the ends dried up, the bill was $12.50 and it was no bigger then a small end of the bread. I not only feel i got taken, but i did, I think they think just because kleifelds been around a longtime (I was born and raised in the eastlake willoughby area 1958), that there name carries it, but it is hasbeen and what i recieved yesterday it's going to be a never been. I sat at the small counter with a packed house at 10:30 AM on Sunday morning. Within five minutes of my order I had my food sitting in front of me. The staff was very nice and courteous and the food was hot and did not disappoint. The prices were very inexpensive for the impressive amount of food that i received. Keep up the great work!! I love downtown Willoughby and this place is been in downtown Willoughby since the beginning of time. It's got an old fashioned bar you can sit up at and order your meal or find one of the tables and Order their. It also has these really cool jukeboxes which actually still work they play old school music as well now the new crap on the radio. As with any old school egg place you can order eggs around the clock but this place isn't open around the clock. They're pretty much open through late lunch and then they closed down for the rest of the day but they are open early. There's a huge mural painted on the side of the building that housed their coffee and it says always good coffee. It was pretty much exactly that. Good. Miami it was okay I had one of those specials it was a chicken wrap of some sort but I kind of wish I would have got breakfast like my buddy he said it was 10 Stars awesome. My wife was running in a local marathon so I had about four hours to kill. Thanks to the internet, I was told that the best breakfast in the area could be found at Kleifeld's. "Disappointed" is the very last word I would use to describe my experience. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. It's a throwback to the old mom and pop diners that you can still find tucked away in the nooks and crannies of America. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had some great conversation with local regulars as well. There's not a lot of room in there, but if you can get in, it's worth it. Every single item on the menu was appealing as well as the specials that were listed for the day. I chose the Western Omelette. It arrived picture-perfect with my home fries and wheat toast. The omelette was cooked very well with the right amount of cheese and the veggies were nicely al dente. The potatoes were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Very nice. The toast was toast. Nothing more, nothing less, but certainly nothing to complain about either. Keeping large squeeze bottles of hot sauce alongside the ketchup and mustard was also a very nice and appreciated touch. The prices were beyond reasonable for what I had. This place has so much history. It's been operating since the 20's and I bet I'm sitting in the same seats as my grandparents did. This is my "go to" breakfast place on the weekends for many reasons. 1. The ambiance of downtown Willoughby can't be beat. I love to window shop here. 2. The food is cheap and really good. I usually order the special which includes eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, and toast. I think it's 5 or 6 bucks. 3. The staff is friendly and attentive. I never have to ask for more coffee or extra napkins. They take care of you and you feel welcomed and appreciated. Don't worry if there is a line of people waiting for seats.
