I used to absolutely love this place. The last time I had gone and ordered a Cobb Salad and it wasn't great. I decided to give them another try as I planned on buying a pie for husband's birthday. Unfortunately our food was not tasty, in fact my husband complained about the taste of the oils. I was underwhelmed as well. We should have walked out when the restaurant was empty. *Not the place to take special needs people, elderly people with cognitive challenges, families with small children, senior living group outings, or any other party that might require patience and kindness* During my visit, I observed two women and two men attending to the tables. While I understand the stress of being short-staffed, the attitudes and lack of respect we encountered at the begining of our time there were so jarring that I feel it is my obligation to share my experience as a warning. I came in with a group of elderly and special needs family members, all of us grieving after a funeral. We had called a day in advance and again the day of to confirm a party of 8 to 10 people. Upon arrival, a server greeted us sharply, saying, "You're just going to have to wait." This wasn't an issue for us. I was confused on the attitude though, as we just walked through the door. We ended up with only 8 people, so perhaps they were simply removing the extra chairs or just busy. We were seated, and our server, a different woman, immediately appeared unhappy to be serving our group: scrunched face, pursed lips. She took drink orders from the first half of the table, then returned to take the second half. At that point, she snapped, "I don't have all day to run back and forth because you're not ready to order!" This was the only time she approached the second half of the table, where we provided our drink orders quickly. Upon returning with our drinks, she set them onto the table with haste/force. I tried to be as efficient as possible when gathering some of our party's meal orders, hoping to avoid giving any more reason for her to be unkind to my vulnerable family members. During the meal, I mentioned to my table how there are jobs available that do not require kindness and patience, I believe I was overheard by the server, as the tone of the service shifted noticeably after that. I want to give her credit for "turning around" her attitude. On top of the disappointing service, there was a pervasive, foul odor throughout the back half of the restaurant that smelled of old urine. It was overpowering, and one could find relief by simply by going into the bathrooms which smelled clean. It seemed to be coming from the booths or carpet, as it lingered throughout the seating area. As someone who works in elder care, I can tell you that I would never allow such a smell in any care facility let alone exprct it from a restaurant. This restaurant clearly needs to address its interior, not only for hygiene but for the comfort of patrons. To make matters worse, the ceiling vents had a black dirt, mold-like substance around them, and several ceiling tiles were loose. It's hard not to wonder if a cleaner and healthier environment might improve the overall attitude of the staff. On a positive note, the food was decent for the price. I can understand why this place attracts older patrons, but I sincerely hope others do not experience the same level of service we did during our visit. read more

Here I am writing my THIRD and final review of Bakers Square.. I went to this location after not coming for awhile lastnight with family. I should've known immediately when there were only two people there on a Friday night. This place used to be packed and last night? Nothing. We were seated in a nice corner and the waitress came around after a good while (clearly it was very busy) and took our drink orders. She had no personality and acted as if she hated her job. After we received our drinks we put in our orders. Two people in the party ordered the pot roast. With gravy on the side. Another person ordered the turkey pita wrap. We also ordered the sausage crepes. Just to be safe someone ordered pancakes. I mean you can't screw those up can you? And I myself ordered the Bakers Scrambler. This is the first restaurant I went to that actually brought out two plates of food for two people only. And it was a good long while before the rest of us got our food. Who does that? When the rest of the food came it was an instant disappointment. It looked like someone just threw it together. Clearly the "cook" didn't want to be there either. Maybe he had a colonoscopy he rather be at. Anyway the crepes and pita were atrocious. At first couple bites they refused to eat. They said the food was disgusting and couldn't even find the words to describe it. The turkey in the pita was mushy and gross and the ham seemed to be almost spoiled. My food tasted okay but was lacking. Big time. When the two people in my party let the waitress know (had to approach her because she did not come around) they did take both meals off the bill. It's the least they can do. But no manager ever came out. It was surprising considering most places they will come out and apologize. Long story short.. the second I got in the car my stomach became very queasy and I had to hurry home. This is the second time I have gotten pretty sick after eating here. I can safely say I will not be back. It is sad to see businesses I used to love heading into the direction this place is going. The people working want to be anywhere but there. read more

Okay, let's start with the good. Our server, David. Very engaging and thorough. His mother works there and is a manager and he's been there for quite some time as well. One of the best servers I've had in a while. The bad....the food is relatively pricey for what you get but it's like that everywhere. The manager sat in a booth on his phone during most of our visit. A large party came in and there was just the one server. I believe he could have stepped up a bit and helped out. They used to be a decent spot but now seem to only be busy on free pie days. Took our grandchildren out for breakfast this morning. Have been at this location many times, but definitely won't come back. Place was empty so we figured our wait for food wouldn't be long. WRONG. Almost 30 minutes to get our food. The food certainly wasn't what we've had before. Omelets looked like they were cooked yesterday. A breakfast sandwich with an egg clearly not fully cooked, and burnt scrambled eggs. Hash browns had a very odd taste. In addition to the poor quality of food, we noticed a very nasty odor, and how many years have those disgusting ceiling tiles been there. I've been dining here for at least 40 plus years. My favorite restaurant. Sad that absolutely nothing has been updated. I have always loved their food and it has remained the same. Upon entering the store, you're hit with a stench of an old house or building. I know COVID affected this place and I'm sure they just aren't making the money. I guess it wasn't just me. After reading several reviews I now know that I wasn't the only one who noticed how BS had so dismally declined. It wasn't so much the food or the service. I guess the only thing I can attribute it to is the "ambiance" (or lack thereof). We use to go to BS quite regularly, mostly because of the incredible pie. I tried to communicate privately with the management at the BS in Middleburg Hts. but they just didn't get it. SOMETHNG had changed - the first time I noticed it I told the mgr. about the disturbing smell in the restaurant. The best I can describe it, is like an old folks home. It was very unappetizing. We went back several times but finally I said we had to take them off our list. We haven't been there in at least a couple of years. The sad part is, we did like the food, the serving sizes, and of course the pies. Sadly , now when we think of going someplace for dessert - we always mention BS in a sarcastic sense. Dawn was great she made me feel like she cared about us. She even brought our baby's food out before the rest of the order to help with her fussiness. Food was exceptional. I love that they toast the buns on the burger. Missed the old fries but the crinkle cut fries are cooked well. My wife got the Avocado toast and she really liked it. The appeal looks great. This has a very limited food menu, which I don't particularly care for. All of the pies, however, are delicious, but expensive ($20-30 average). During the US calendar holidays, I have to order them about 2 weeks in advance, and about a month ahead for Thanksgiving, since I don't care for making pies from scratch anymore . The food prices are reasonable. read more

Had dinner at Baker's Square the other night with the family. Service was friendly and food was tasty. The French Silk pie we took home was delicious too! My salad was yummy and my chicken pot pie was delicious. I'd order it again in a heart beat. I will definitely be back for more pie during the holidays. read more

We were there today. The service and staff was beyond excellent . They were very busy and had a large group next to us . They still checked on us and we're friendly and polite . We got a lemon supreme pie to take home and as always excellent. BUT my Ruben sandwich had a very few pieces of shredded corned beef not slices and the bread was soggy and I did not even have sauce on bread had that on side , the seasoned French fries were bland to say the least, had a guest with us and I was apologizing to her. I had the pleasure of dining at this Baker's Square location yesterday. I am so happy there is still a Baker's Square in the Cleveland area. (I had previously always gone to the North Olmsted location that closed last year.) Jennifer N. is an Amazing Server - she is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I chose the Build Your Own Omelette, which came with hash browns and a choice of bread - I chose an English Muffin to complete my meal. The whole meal was delicious ! Their current menu is limited due to the pandemic, but there are still many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I do miss their Chicken Pot Pie and Cinnamon Roll French Toast (Baker's Square favorites of mine not currently available) but I do understand and appreciate the situation and their current menu. I'm really hoping those menu items return when the pandemic ends. It was a Wednesday - so..."Free Pie Day" at Baker's Square !! Yay !!! I chose Peach, and it was wonderful ! Terrible Ambiance, we were greeted by the server who wouldn't let us sit by a window even though there were 3 window seats available. She stated we are short staffed and you need to sit in the section according to our server rotation and a window seat is not available. The people after us were seated by the window. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food was awful. My toast was burnt and my bacon was undercooked. The woman's restroom was filthy. Poop in the handicap stall and toilets not flushing. It was gross. If I would have used the restroom before ordering and not afterwards we would have walked out immediately. Bakers Square in North Olmsted Ohio closed some time ago.I had the taste oh their French Silk Pie and went to the location 7011 West 130th Parma Heights? Dave is now their Manager. I had a great meal and it was nice and hot a nice pot of hot coffee. The prices for todays prices are the best. Wednesday is "FREE" slice of pie day with meal. Don't come here looking for holiday pies. I waited in line for over and hour to pick up my 2 preordered pies for thanksgiving. I expected to receive fresh pies. I received 2 rock hard frozen pies. The pumpkin ended up being just ok. However the apples was so gross and watery after being cooked and then frozen. I just tossed it. Tried to reach out to the company but they ignored my attempts. Seriously. You'd be better off by a frozen Sarah Lee pie and baking it at home yourself. I wish I would have done that! read more

Free pie day on Wednesday! The restaurant just got a facelift. The menu is still about the same. There is a variety on menu. The selection of sandwiches are larger than traditional meals. Breakfast is all day. And the soups are really good. But today was about Grown Up Mac & Cheese. Penne pasta, nice cheese sauce, some grated cheddar, and bacon (about 2 pieces worth cut in 1" - 2" size). Its really good, nice size for smaller menu and comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread. For the $7.99 it a deal, but if you want more you can add chickie for $1.50 more. The sandwiches didn't look as good on plate. They lacked the meat part, particularly the reuben which was more sour kraut. But Pecan Caramel Silk Pie is awesome. It probably took fifteen minutes off my life, but hopeful they weren't good minutes. read more

I would like to post a positive review except I can't. The reason I can't is because we were never actually servered. We were greeted and seated by a pleasant enough individual. That was the only contact we had until I spoke with the manager on our departure. We sat and quietly waited for 20 minutes and was never even asked what we would like to drink. A waitress stood right next to our table for ten of them chatting up the couple next to us. This wouldn't of been to much of an issue if they were in fact busy but they weren't. As we decided it was time to give up and move on l addressed the manager about what he considered an acceptable amount of time before customers approached by the staff and he said no more than 3 minutes. I told him of our experience and his reply was what do you want me to do about it. I simply smiled and thanked him for helping me to narrow my dining choices the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Came to Bakers Square today (2/19) around 1:00. Food was fantastic. Loved everything we ate. Crepes were fantastic. Coffee was good. Bacon was wonderful. The only issue we had was the service. We walked in (a group of 3 with a child). Took a little bit to seat us, which is okay because it's Sunday. The biggest issue with the service was our server (will not name her), never came to our table to ask us if we wanted refills for drinks or even to check on us. She kept going to walk away while we were in the middle of ordering. We kept having to call her back to finish our order with her looking annoyed. The only time she came to refill our waters was when she gave us the check at the end of the meal. Now, with it being Sunday, I could understand service being slow. However, the time was around 1:45 or 2pm. There were 5 tables that had customers and the other employees were just all sitting down and talking. No excuse for slow service if your servers are sitting and chatting around a table. The biggest issue I had all day was after I signed the bill and wrote in a tip (it wasn't a good tip. But after the awful service we received, I'm surprised we tipped at all) I heard my waitress remark and call me out and call me rude for such a small tip. In all my 15 years of managing restaurants, have I EVER seen or heard a server act like that within earshot of customers. It's atrocious behavior. read more

Stopped here for lunch, and love this place. I had the grilled salmon with pesto, Hubby love had an omelet. The salmon was perfectly grilled, rice pilaf was spot on, and the portion size was perfect. Hubby's omelet was very good, and when served to him it was still hot! We each got a slice of pie, I had key-lime which was the best I have ever had, and he had Oreo which was very good he said. We had dinner on March 20th and experienced a great meal. Our waitress, Tammy, was terrific. She took our order of omelettes and they came accurate, hot and the food was excellent. Tammy stopped at our table several times and asked if we enjoyed our meal. The manager also stopped at our table and inquired if we were enjoying our meal. Good, but need more gluten free options. Few meals are GF. Nothing in the bakery is gluten free. Would generate more revenue (more customers) if they have gluten free and maybe vegan options too, catering to different dietary needs. As always and excellent experience. My 2 year old daughter and I had lunch there. The service was excellent and the food was great. We even took a banana cream pie to go. The only thing bad I could say is that my daughter got a side of avacado with her meal and it was a very skimpy portion. She loves avacado. Stick to pies and breakfast foods, what Baker's Square does best! I often come here for pies for holiday occasions and for brunch on Sundays after church. However, one time I decided to get lunch and ordered a chicken caesar salad. It was quite honestly the worst salad ever. Limp lettuce, unseasoned chicken, a few croutons, and no caesar dressing or anything of the like. I am giving 3 stars due to this experience, which was really much lower than 3, but my prior experiences that include their breakfast entrees bring up my overall review. read more

They are really trying to freshen up their image after a decade of floundering. Their pies are excellent, and the rest of the menu is solid. There's good value here.
