My mother has a 2016 RLX Acura and when something goes wrong with her car she takes it right back to the dealership. Last year she needed the code for her display after the battery died. They wanted to charge her over $100 for a code! We ended up getting the code off of YouTube. This time her passenger side mirror wasn't opening when she'd turn her car on. They charged her $1130.00 + $400.00 for labor. She dropped it off and was told she could come back the following day to pick it up. They told her it was an easy fix and her mirror would be good as new. She picked it up, drove home and noticed the bottom piece of her mirror was gone. It looks like they tried to glue it back on and it didn't seal well. She called them and informed them of the missing piece and they're making it seem like they aren't trying to help her out. He even said he'd go out into the scraps and see if he could find something that would work to cover it. *UPDATE Mom took her car back today and they found the piece that was missing and put it back on. But as she was inspecting it before she left, she noticed a gouge in the paint taken out of her car from where they jimmied the piece off in the first place. To say she is pissed is an understatement and she has every right to be. She left today with an appointment for them to fix their mistake and a free oil change. I'm very happy with my decision of bringing all my vehicles to get maintenance at Bakersfield Acura. Have been coming to them for the past three years and love the relationship I have with my service advisor, Jose Ventura. I pull up with my 2015 TLX or my 2014 Toyota Rav 4 and feel confident that he will keep them running smoothly. I drive 20k miles per year and they still feel great, no major problems. Jose makes me feel at ease if I have any questions and I know I can depend on him. Regular oils changes are less than an hour, they do a full inspection of the cars and they also give it a wash. Run from this place. Service department used after-market parts to repair my A/C WITHOUT TELLING ME. Took twice as long as they said it would. Couldn't reach anyone by phone. By the time I got home, I realized the A/C wasn't working properly, AND the driver's door on my RDX was damaged. Somehow, I was the problem though. Got treated like CR*P. I get there and the service advisor ask if I was there for just the recall I said yes, he says ok and continues to look on his computer and says they don't have the parts in yet they were supposed to by now but work of them in till may now. I took in my vehicle to get a diagnosis. I was told everything was "ok", they only recommended a transmission fuel change. I agreed to the that and paid a "cheap" price of $280. Two days later my vehicle was still having the same issue. This time around they did a "courtesy" transmission update. A week or so later my vehicle began to do the same issue. Third time is the charm right? Well NO! Jose, the survivor advisor told us it was "ok" and that the issue was my floor mat! Are you kidding me? The floor mat!! We did a test drive with him and he busted out with, "Oh it can be the fuel injectors." So I agreed to paid a little over $500 to them cleaned. Two weeks later same issue again. This time around Jose told me he had said that clean the injectors would be a temporary solution. I was in shock with this man's audacity! Are you kidding me! I would NEVER agreed to pay over $500 for a temporary fix!!! Jose is not professional nor does he care for his customers. The grin on his face when you're speaking to him is offensive and makes me feel stupid! Long story short I feel scammed due to the fact that I had to take it a total of 3 times from being told my vehicle was "ok" to technically being fooled by Jose saying my floor mat was the issue. Three visits later and $800 in my vehicle is still not working properly. read more

So I'll keep this short. I had a really nice car to sell an Acura RDX with full tech package and less than 5000 miles. Stayed in garage. Absolutely perfect vehicle. I had to call several times to get ahold of a sales person who told me to call his manager. Manager out, unavailable, left several phone messages and never a call back. This, while they are advertising they need used car stock. In short, I went to another dealer and within hours of the initial call the car was sold and all I had to do was wait for a check. Lack of attention and call back caused me to go elsewhere. While I like Acura vehicles, I'll find another dealer from now on. read more

The worst service department ever! The service manager Korina is a liar. She told me she had been there years... turned out she had only been there a week. I bought an extended warranty on my car. I have 17000 miles on it and it is three years old. The battery went out and left me stranded with my windows open. My husband had to come save me and change the battery. My power steering light kept coming on so I took it into Acura. They charged me 150 to reset the computer. Korina told me if I had it towed there and they changed my battery I would of had to pay. I called Fresno and Valencia Acura they both laughed and said that charge is ridiculous. Do not go to family motors. Apparently they don't even have a general manager. read more

Family Motors-Bakersfield Acura was really impressive. I am not sure what I was expecting because this was my first time visiting but usually car dealerships are a little stressful. The service drive was clean and open. When you drive up to the service department you can drive all the way inside the Bay Area. The customer service people or service writers can see you right away because their offices are facing the bay; which is nice because I didn't wait at all in the rain or the cold. I decided to wait in the waiting area for my vehicle since it was just an oil change and multi point inspection. They offer a shuttle ride or you can drop off your vehicle and pick it up later. There was fresh popcorn and the chairs were super comfy. The bathrooms had a changing table and a huge mirror. They offer a kids playroom for families. I sat at a tech table off to the side and took advantage of their charging station. The waiting area is large and I felt safe waiting there because it's open and there was more than enough room to social distance. My service advisor went over the work done to my car and I appreciated that because this was my first time at Family Motors Bakersfield Acura. I truly did feel like family, everyone was so welcoming not hostile like some dealerships I've been to. I'll be coming here exclusively from now on. read more

Took my wife's car in for service on Saturday, 1/12. I was met immediately upon arrival and the individual that met me was very courteous and professional. I was just in for the oil change and he told me that they were very busy and might not meet the 30 minute service time... he was apologetic and said they would let me know when it was ready... to my surprise he approached me after about 25 minutes, reviewed my multipoint inspection and said the cashier would be ready in about 5 minutes for me to pay and leave. A brand new battery in my car went dead. The battery shop told me that Acura TLs like mine often have shorts and told us the 3 most common places the shorts appear. We did a little internet research. Sure enough Acura TLs OFTEN experience shorts. I told them all of this when I took my vehicle in. I already had an appointment for service so I just moved that appointment up a little sooner. I dealt with Aaron, who is new in the service department, and extremely nice. The guys there told him that they weren't able to track down the short. That they think maybe it is in my alarm system. Which by the way they said they think is aftermarket. We weren't told that when we purchased the vehicle and none of the paperwork or anything indicates that it is aftermarket. They wanted to charge me $150.00 to remove it. I refused to let them remove it and I will be getting a second opinion. Aaron suggested that since I always park in my garage that I don't use my alarm when home. They also charged $350.00 to detail it out. They didn't do a very good job. I had to come home and clean the inside of the windshield myself because it was all streaky. Next time I will find someone else to detail my vehicle. read more

I've been going to Bakersfield Acura ever since I bought my Acura in 2014. I like getting my oil changes done here because they do give you a full inspection and this girl knows nothing about cars, so it's nice to have things spelled out for me with nice colors codes. Green: a-ok; red: fix it now! I've had two bad experiences at Acura though. One was minor: I scheduled an appointment for my oil change. The website and the email confirmation I got both said in and out in under thirty minutes, guaranteed! Not to mention this "guarantee" was WITHOUT an appointment, but I made one just to be safe. Yeah no I was there 2 hours and all they did was apologize. They did seem understaffed so I was understanding, but two hours is a lot, like waiting at the DMV a lot. My second experience was when I got my brakes checked and the technician told me it was urgent I get them fixed, that it could be dangerous for me driving. I opted for a second opinion, and they told me I had at least 6,000 miles left in the brake life! I was appalled! When the Customer Service Manager called I told her how I felt. I even went as far as to call corporate. I know Acura is great with customer service because I used to work for Acura Corporate! I told them they made me feel unsafe and now as a customer I do not trust their automobile advice. In the end, they came around, apologized, and made up for the terrible error. Probably one of the worst service departments in town. I brought my 2012 Dodge Challenger in for a leaking water pump and when I got it back I'm checking it out and I notice that a bolt is missing. So I go to dodge just to confirm that it is missing and they tell me it is. So I take it back to Acura to see if they can order me this one bolt and Jonathan and Jose both tell me I'm a liar, as well as Jose tryna be a tough guy and act like he's gonna really do something physical lol . Aside from that they finally say they will order me the bolt. I've been waiting on this one bolt that has supposedly been on "back order" which doesn't seem right to me that a bolt has been on back order for over 2 months. Long story short I would not take your car here and if you have warranty through these bums good luck cause the 2 service advisors have no idea what they are talking about and got some shitty customer service. I love this dealership. Really. Hands down the BEST customer service in town. I have owned many vehicles and have been to a variety of waiting rooms over the years. I love that I rarely have to make an appointment. I usually call out of courtesy, but have dropped by on several occasions to have them check out an issue or get an oil change or some small issue. They always, and I do mean always, welcome me and try to deal with the issue right there on the spot. I have never had a run in with any representative from Acura. I have been told on occasion that I would have to wait two hours only to have the job completed in less than an hour! They do offer shuttle service which I have used. Again, nicest people EVER! The waiting room is always clean. Not crowded and they have several desks to choose from so I can get my work done if need be. Came in to get my vehicle serviced, oil change, fluid top off, tire rotation requested a four point engine inspection and filter check. Omar immediately ponded me off to Alex because he was still on lunch for another 10 minutes. Alex was paged by Aaron overhead for a "customer waiting". Alex came in rude and unprofessional. I engaged him with a hand shake and an introduction. His hand shake was weak and broken wristed and followed with why am I here . I stated I needed an engine inspection and oil change with filter inspection. He countered my request with rude responses; what filter, why do I need an engine inspection, is there problems. These response where in a condescending response rather than a question to gain information. He then stated this is not his job and told me to Wait out in the lobby. From a professional stand point he needs to work on his customer skills and response towards simple tasks. Acura gets 2 stars for Aaron the service rep. He was polite and friendly. Other than that, more than likely my last time coming here. Over the phone the service was top notch. however, my opinion changed when I walked in. read more
