Stopped here for dinner and drinks on a Saturday, the wait was not long as we had reservations, but I'm sure it could be long it got crowded pretty quick. Just walking in I noticed the woodwork is cool. The atmosphere was we energetic and everyone seems to be having a great time. Drinks: For drinks we had a pitcher of sangria and their margaritas. The sangria was excellent very light and refreshing, with just enough fruit. The Margaritas are made with lime juice and had a tart refreshing light flavor. When you order a pitcher they bring the amount of glasses for the table and ask how you would like them customized. For margaritas they come with salt, sugar or nothing. Sangria comes with fruit in the glass. Food: We started off with the chorizo chili, which was a little spicy but definitely a must try, the chili had a great flavor, you didn't have to search for meat, it was hearty enough for nacho dipping. The food is tapas style so you order several tacos I had the fish taco and the Hongos taco. The Hongos taco was veggie with portabello, kale slaw, bell peppers, and cheese. The slaw that tops their tacos is excellent the servers instruct you to squeeze a lime on each taco. My favorite dish was the black beans unfortunately I don't have a picture of it because they were gone as soon as I got them. Such a let down! The reviews, photos and menu made this an easy choice for a late night dinner. Two stars are for the staff who were busting their butts otherwise it would be zero. Our server had two large parties that constantly called his attention. They ran that poor guy ragged. Btw don't be that customer, figure out what your table needs and ask for it at one time and not five! Managers, please support your staff! The food is... not great. The name Bakersfield reminds me of Bakersfield California and real Mexican food. We started with the trio, the salsa roja was incredibly smoky. The guacamole tasted so strongly of lime, why ruin good avocados this way?. When we finally got our tacos they were all cold. The shrimp tacos would have been great if they were more than warm. The chicken and pork were very dry and cold. The fish taco was certainly fishy. One bite of each and the rest was left. Just so disappointing especially for the price. Finally made it to Bakersfield, didn't realize it is a chain restaurant until reading the reviews. Doesn't feel like a chain at all. Came in for lunch on Saturday with friends and enjoyed some margs and tacos. The service was fast and the food was good. I didn't think the tacos were anything super delicious, the fish taco was a little dry and lacked in flavor but the mushroom and shrimp tacos were tasty. Fun atmosphere, tacos were so good. We came as a group of 8 and got the group deal for $16 a person and had about 20 tacos, guacamole and salsa and some cheese dip with bacon on it. Everything was so good and the waitress was very helpful along with the manager who was able to accommodate this large group of ours. Very cute restaurant on Woodward. Tacos are delicious, they are Ala cart so you can try a few things without committing to a meal. We sat on the patio which was awesome, the bees suck but nothing you can do about it really lol. Our server Billy was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the menu and made suggestions. But the food is definitely hit or miss and overpriced for the portion size. Order: Chips and guac - delicious and huge Milanesa - one of my favorite sandwiches, try it with their hot sauce Steak taco - marinated and cooked well AVOID: Taco al Pastor - kind of awful and not at all what you'd expect of an authentic taco al pastor. Flavor was off. Cubes of pork were severely over cooked and oily. 90% gristle and fat. Weird chewy texture. Meh: Johnny salad Short rib taco - the only thing that stood out about this taco is that it was mushy Equites Shrimp taco - I think they forgot to season / salt mine Overall the food is fine. Unfortunately, we couldn't find our waitress half the time and what could've been an hour dinner turned 3 hours. It was so loud I could barely hear the person across from me or even beside me. I am dreaming of this food months later. I can't even be mad that chips and salsa aren't free with your meal when everything was so good. We got all of the apps - salsa, guacamole, and queso - and loved them all. The queso was delicious and gooey. We got a pitcher of margaritas, which were boozy and refreshing. I tried the chicken, steak, and shrimp tacos. They recommend you eat four, and that was the perfect number for me. Maybe a little too much. Been wanting to try this place forever and it did not disappoint! The short rib and pollo verde tacos were my favorite! The carnitas I heard was really good as well but I didn't order it. The food and ambiance at Bakersfield have always been great, but service has significantly gone downhill in the past several months. The last two times I have gone, both during relatively slow times of day for dine-in, the wait for food has been awful and the staff always has to apologize over and over again for it. This is the taco place you take your coworkers or a date! Went here for lunch with coworkers because the Qline is free for the last three weeks in December. Take the authentic, delicious taco truck street style taco and put it in a hip modern bar with great margaritas and a lot of tequila to choose from. Tip for the happy hour goers- three dollar rotating shots (not just tequila). Service was extremely friendly and helps you through the menu. I went with the suggested tacos, the bistec, the shrimp, and the short rib. Whatever you do, don't forget to get the bistec (5/5) and shrimp tacos (4.9/5). And the chorizo queso dip is a must. I had a terrible experience at Bakersfield. Mostly due to the Manager on duty, Thomas. I visited yesterday with a group of 9 people, the wait was about an hour, which was expected. We were told by the host that our table would be ready as soon as the next big group left that he pointed out. We proceeded to the table after the group left. Sat down for 10 minutes, ordered drinks, and started drinking them, until Thomas told us that we were not to seat ourselves and there was actually someone else on the list ahead of us and we would have to get up and wait for a different table to be ready. We ended up getting up without a fuss, and realized that the table was not occupied for a good 30 minutes after we got up. We ended up getting seated and all decided to get the Selecciones De La Case (says on the menu "a multi-course experience"). This included 2 queso's, 2 salads and 20 tacos for 9 people. The tacos were an assortment of 5 different tacos, and 4 of each, for 9 people. These tacos are 3 and 4$ on the menu. Queso is 6$ (we got 2) and the salad was 7$ (we got 2). I added it up and the "experience" they charged 144$ for, would have cost 101$ if ordered individually. I'm not a stickler, at all (our total bill was over $700), but since Thomas had us get up, all these little things were bothering me. I mentioned it to the waitress and she did the math, apologized and said she would remove some of our charges, but we told her not to and just bring more food. Then, I noticed Thomas was pouring my drinks. He had a smirk on his face while pouring a 1oz pour, 2 small ice cubes into a drink that was ordered on the rocks. I asked for him after receiving my drink, he argued that it was 2 ounces, to where he actually brought out a measuring cup, and the whole drink, including melted ice, was not 2 ounces, and with an attitude he said "I just won't charge you for a rocks pour, i'll charge you for a straight pour". Very awful managing etiquette. Embarrassed a group of 9 men and made them get up after sitting down to appease himself. I really enjoyed the food, but the whole experience was a terrible. read more

We were there on a busy concert night, and we waited about an hour to get seated.
