It was my birthday, so my boss took me and some coworkers here for a margaritas-and-tacos-on-a-Friday thing. We started with the guac and salsa samplers, and binged on the ridiculously good chips. Then we dug into tacos -- for me, two was plenty. They're generously sized and absolutely delicious. In fact, this place now rivals Imperial as my favorite sit-down taco place in Metro Detroit. Oh, and the margaritas? There's a wide variety of kinds on the menu and all of them are delicious. They're strong enough that you feel you're getting your money's worth but not so much that you only taste tequila -- the perfect balance, I'd say. Went there over the weekend with some family members. We didn't realize it would be packed due to St Patty's events! We got there waited for about 35 minutes which wasn't bad at all! It was super loud and hard to walk since it was overly packed with ppl just standing up! I felt like they shouldn't have so many ppl just standing in the middle of the restaurant where the bar is. We started with guacamole, quest, and the salsa chip app! They were soo good that we ordered another round of them! The portion size is pretty small but prices are cheap. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos and a steak taco! The shrimp tacos were great! I love the chipotle flavor with the tangy slaw they serve with it! The steak taco wasn't my favorite! It was my first time having it and I wasn't a fan of it! It was more sweet flavor! When it comes to my food I don't like sweet! There wasn't enough meat on there the coleslaw overpowered it! But for sure if you go there get the shrimp and fish tacos! I have had the chicken tacos before and those are good as well! Service was great for being soo busy that day read more

Busy but great service and top notch atmosphere .....we love Mexican but both of us are major wimps when it comes to spicy. We ordered the plain queso and it had a bite but it was tolerable. We got the grilled chicken tacos without the pickled onions and holy moly my mouth was on fire after one bite I and my mouth was on fire. Dave took a bite and got the same thing but he was so hungry he ate the Taco and right afterwards his face turned bright red and sweat was pouring out everywhere..... we were at the money very carefully I decided this look like the most miles one and the waitress agreed that it is the mildest Taco Bell on their menu. She took the tacos off with no problem other than that the place is an awesome atmosphere and will be back for margaritas. Have been here twice, once with the husband and another couple for a kid-free night out and once with our kids (ages 4 and 6) for an early dinner during a day downtown. Enjoyed ourselves both times. We stopped here on a whim looking to curb our taco craving. The ambiance inside was very nice with a classic homey rustic feel with great lighting. Perfect place to bring a date since you can dress up or come casual and still feel right at home. We sat outside on the patio which was very comfortable with nice lighting and great music. Our waiter was very informative and punctual giving us great recommendations. We each had three tacos all of which were uniquely amazing! We had the fish, portobello, and pork. Their signature hot sauce was spot on too with just the right amount of heat and smokey flavor. I washed my tacos down with a house margarita which was made perfect and hit the spot. Hipster tacos at a chain restaurant. The food was good but I'd make the trip to southwest before coming back here. If your looking to take a group out for a business lunch or something along those lines this place will do the trick. Loved. I went here with my cousin and we got tacos and drinks. It was a while ago and i posted a review on google so i dont have details on the items. My drink had a pepper in it and it was smokey and spicey, so good, The shrimp tacos were amazing. They did decent social distancing though they did put us at the bar, a foot away from the bartenders Salt rimming station, which i thought was not so great, thankfully we didn't have covid to contaminate peoples salt rims. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for some time now, and it's everything that I thought it would be. Clean, very friendly service, and the food/drinks were amazing!! You have the option of sitting inside or outside on nice spring/summer days. The prices for the amount of food you get can't be beat, and the pineapple margaritas were a hit, my mother and I got the shrimp, spicy chicken, fish, and pork tacos $4 each, and I believe the drinks were $10. Came in about 40 mins til close, prompt and friendly service. We had gauc&chips, queso, two meat rocks and two veg tacos. The queso was so good I wanted to drink it by the gallon. The tacos were good, and didn't fall apart, which was surprising because they have quite a bit of stuff on them (not a bad thing). The atmosphere is also a cool/laid back feel and dimly lit it was nice. They were open til 12 on a Thursday, which is super cool considering we got out of a concert at 11 and we're starving!! read more

Reservations 6 pm 12 people seated half our party the other half had to stand table next to us had been there for 4 snacking on chips and sipping on one glass of wine after 1 hour management has done nothing server still didn't take our order until I ask can you take our order she said I'm not ready the only thing management did was keep say we are going to make this right over and over do your self a favor and don't come here. read more

I stuck with the guac and chips as my main and had one taco minus most of the guts as they didn't really have options for a dairy intolerance. Bakersfield is the perfect addition to Midtown! I've been multiple times since it opened and always have a great experience. The Corn Chowder and Papas Tostada are my current favorite on the food menu. They fresh squeeze their juices and makes for a perfect Paloma. Service is always spot on and the GM Grayson has stopped by each visit to make sure our experience met expectations. Really enjoy this place - have been several times over the last several months. The concept of individual tacos is great and the drinks are very good especially the sangria. The only downside here is the weirdest red salsa I've ever had. Tastes like smoke with nothing to balance. Should add an alternative (in addition to the green). Was so looking forward to this recommended restaurant until I arrived. When I approached the hostess stand, on time for my reserved table, I was informed that they didn't have it "jotted down." Very disappointed with the professionalism of the hostesses that we're not able to accommodate the committed reservation due to their error AFTER paying $20 to park. And, not at all impressed with their offer of "squeezing us in" within 2 hours. Will take our business elsewhere where the staff can be professional, courteous, and handle a reservation! read more

First of all, the food and service was fantastic! My husband and I visited Bakersfield this past Saturday around 7:30pm. We walked in, were greeted by the fairly rude hostess who informed us the wait was 3 HOURS. 3 hours??! We saw no one waiting, the bar area was not overly crowded. How could it be a 3 hour wait? Initial turnoff. We quickly found 2 seats at the bar and within minutes there were empty tables. We stayed at the bar - the bartender was super friendly, informative and efficient. We ordered 5 tacos between the two of us. We will be back. I hope the restaurant trains the host or hostesses properly moving forward. read more

I truly had high hopes for this place and unfortunately I was let down. When we arrived we were seated pretty fast which was great, seeing as how it was sweetest day and restaurants are normally crowded for these kinds of holidays. Our waitress was nice initially -- she explained the menu to us as it was our first time dining there. Our water, drinks, and our queso came out expeditiously. It seemed to go downhill from there. I advised the waitress that I wanted to send the queso back because it was gritty and it was moreso like a mornay sauce instead of a queso. The waitress grilled us on why we didn't like the appetizer and then hastily tries to walk away from the table. I had to stop her to let her know that I wanted salsa instead. She seemed to have an attitude with us for the rest of the night. I had the short rib taco, the shrimp taco, and the mahi mahi taco. They were nothing short of delicious, and they were packed with food! I was very happy about that. As I was putting the last taco to my mouth, the waitress comes to our table with the bill. I felt as if she was rushing us out of the restaurant! My date advised that she'd like one more drink and she seemed to have an attitude about that. We finished up and decided to go to another restaurant to finish up the night, seeing as we did not feel welcome there. I wasn't at the second restaurant for more than 20 minutes before feeling as if I had food poisoning. I have a good reason to believe that my body was reacting to what I ate prior. I had to end my night extremely premature. The portion size and the price of the tacos is the reason why this restaurant scored 2 stars instead of 1. I will likely never return unless they can address why their patrons end up with food poisoning symptoms after visiting (I've heard about more instances than mine). read more

They do not do a good job at accommodating large groups. The wait staff my group had were very rude and seemed annoyed right from the beginning that we had a bigger reservation. Right from the beginning, they told us "to make it easier on them" and then suggested what we should get and kept on saying so it "was easier on them." No one wanted what they suggested because the choice they gave us wasn't what everyone liked. We didn't even have that LARGE of a group. We only had two tables of people. The other thing was that a few people split a margarita pitcher and I asked my waitress for my own margarita and she flat out told me NO because my table had already ordered a margarita pitcher. We all looked at each other after she walked away asking, "did that really just happen?!" I wanted a different margarita, how can you say no to a customer?! I will def not be back here for a very long time and nor will I ever suggest going as a larger group to this place. read more

We came here last night and we were really impressed! We were promptly greeted when we arrived. We're told there was a 35 minute wait so we put our name in and headed towards the bar! The bar was packed so we found a spot to stand by the service bar. The girl bartender asked us if we'd ever been and offered us a menu. Told us her fave was the cucumber margarita as she was handing us the menu. A guy also then told us he'd be right with us. She came back and took our order and proceeded to make our margaritas. He came back over but we let him know we had already been taken care of. In the meantime, the other side of the bar opened up so we made our way over there to sit down. The area was cleaned quickly and we enjoyed our drinks there. Pineapple and cucumber margaritas!! Both were so fresh tasting. About 20 minutes later, we received a text that our table was ready-15 minutes earlier than expected. We payed our bar tab and got sat at a 2 top high table just behind the bar. Kate came over and greeted us, asked if we'd ever been there and proceeded to tell us a little about the menu and what they were all about. We ordered chips and guacamole which was sooooo delicious and fresh! My friend and I both got short rib tacos and I got the Baja shrimp, she got the fish taco. I really enjoyed the short rib taco but wasn't really impressed with the shrimp taco. I'm not sure if it was because it sat for a bit? The shrimp taco did have a really good amount of spice though which I did like about it. We also tried the sangria and Bakersfield margaritas too, which weren't as good as the first 2 we had but we want d to try something different. Kate really made the experience worthwhile.
