Came here before the tigers game. Service was efficient. Mech was our waitress and she helped answer our 101Questions on the menu about food and drinks-- she is awesome! We enjoyed the guacamole- so fresh and chips and the happy hour drinks. Tacos are flavorful. Tortilla was not warm. Will plan to come back in the future!

Came on a Saturday night with reservations and it was packed but we were sat quickly! Our server was quick as well which was nice bec we had tickets for a show. Now the chips were AWFUL like a pile of grease the server did get us new ones upon request but that's just how the chips were which was absolutely unfortunate but the short rib queso was good at least!! The tacos were good but the tortillas were cold which also was not great. By far the fish taco was the best followed by the shrimp, short rib, then pork. All in all it was a good experience and the margaritas were good!

I tried this spot for the first time. The tacos were decent but I needed some kinda sauce to add to them. We had the Baja Shrimp Taco, Pollo Verde Taco, El Pastor. In edition we had the Mexican style empanadas and short rib queso which were all pretty good. I especially loved the spicy margaritas. Servers were very nice. Only thing I didn't like as much was the seating as it was picnic style.

My girlfriend and I came here after a Tiger's game. We had passed by many times and it always smelled amazing. We were seated right away and ordered the dinner for 2, which is one dip, two bocaditos or app/sides, and 6 tacos. We also shared a pineapple margarita. We added chorizo to our queso, so an $11 dip, and it was smaller than we expected. However, it was very tasty. Our bocaditos came, she had the rice and beans $7, and I had the stuffed poblano pepper $10. Outside of one taco, this was our favorite part of the meal. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly and tasted great. My stuffed poblano left me wanting another one. (Total $25 or $28 w/ chorizo) The only reason im including pricing is to point out that $27 dollars went to six tacos. So each one was $4.50 They were street taco sized... Pictures all show what we got. The only one i would recommend would be the baja shrimp taco, it was killer. The rest were nothing to write home about. Also the margarita at $12, in a mason jar was cute, but we didnt order another. If we were to go back, it would be for an appetizer before we got dinner elsewhere. Its a nice place, and the overall experience was positive. Just expensive, and there are way better places around to get more bang for your buck.

I've been here a couple of times now... I've tried a few different things on the menu. It's a great place with a great atmosphere and the perfect location to grab a bite to eat before an event downtown. Service is always great. The food comes quickly even when the restaurant is over crowded with fans dining out before a game. The tacos are okay. The short rib queso is okay. I asked for some tajin to sprinkle on-top and it took the dish up a a few notches. I really think they should consider just putting that on there in the 1st place. The dish went from a 5/10 to a 9/10. It was amazing after the fact. The tajin tastes so good, I like to lick it off the rim of my drink (no shame). They put it on the rim of the pineapple margarita which I'm very obsessed with. That was the only thing on the menu that I truly love and will rave about. I got it every time I went. I didn't care for the papas or the taquitos. The presentation is nice but that's about it. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely for the pineapple margarita and the tajin seasoning to put on-top of the queso dip.

WOW! Where do I begin? Visiting Detroit for the first time I was looking for a place to grab dinner near a family member's hotel. Bakersfield DET had good reviews, and I was able to make a reservation on a Monday at 5:30 for 4 of us. The host was so friendly and accommodating to find us a table that would be better for one of us who uses a cane to get around. He was so kind and positive. Brandi then took over with service, explaining it was happy hour. We started with the chips and salsa which consisted of three VERY tasty salsas and chips for $3.50. The chips and guac was also super delicious and only $5. Ten-dollar margaritas? Yes, please! Que Rico. Yummers. We all decided to get an assortment of tacos for dinner. The Al Pastor with pork, pineapple, pickled white onions and cilantro was my favorite. The Baja Shrimp taco and Huitlacoche taco were also delicious. The side of rice and beans was incredible! Everything we tried was superb, as was the service. As we were wrapping up the host came by to help clear the table and was just as friendly as when we arrived. Love this place. The food, the people, the drinks, the bar scene and the vibe - amazing!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to make it to this glorious place! I cannot wait to go back! We made reservations before a wings game. Parking was tough to find. We got a pitcher or margaritas which was a great choice. And the tacos, oh my goodness, sooooooo delicious! I think about them often and look forward to more soon!

Grab some tasty tacos before a downtown event, or anytime! Love this place. We sat at the bar and ordered the baja shrimp tacos. Small in size but at $4.50 a piece you really can't do much better than this. Mix and match with other taco styles--chicken, fish, pork, braised short rib and more. A fun atmosphere to just hang out, enjoy a drink from their extensive drink menu. Gets quite crowded on game days so a good idea to consider making a reservation.

Definitely recommend making a reservation here, especially on game days! It gets very busy here and for good reason -- the tacos are so tasty! My friends and I all loved the baja shrimp taco and the queso. I only got one taco and rice and beans, but loved the taco so much, I wish I got another. I'll echo others and say that you'll likely need to find parking elsewhere.

Two of us went on a Thursday at 4pm with no reservations just as they opened. It's bench style seating with a country/western theme to it and TVs all around. We were seated right away and our drink orders taken. Within 3 minutes our cocktails arrived and we were able to place our order for apps and entrees right after. Those also came out quickly and looked amazing. Our server was very nice and checked on us regularly and topped off our waters when they were low. To start off we got the honeydew margarita and the grapefruit radler cocktail. Both were delicious! I'm not much of a drinker and that was the first time I finished a margarita by myself. We chose the dinner for two that included chips & dip, 2 apps, and 6 tacos for $26 per person which wasn't too bad for all that was included. We ordered the basic chips and salsa that came with a salsa roja and salsa verde. The verde was my favorite of the two since it was more sour. The roja was just a bit too sweet for me. For apps, we ordered the esquites and the chicken taquitos as well. The esquites, while they were good, we expected it to be a hot dish rather than a cold dish but still enjoyed it and even dipped our chips into it like a salsa. The chicken taquitos were such a surprise when they arrived to the table plated beautifully and made with blue corn tortillas! We loved them. We tried several different tacos including the pollo verde, carnitas, fish, and al pastor. Each taco had it's own unique flavor and were also well-presented. By the time we were ready to leave the restaurant was full with red wings fans catching a meal before the game. It was a nice atmosphere to be in. Cool place to try when you're downtown!

My friend got the Willie salad and like it. I got some tacos: pollo verde, baja shrimp, and cochinita pibil (pork). The shrimp and pork were my favs, they were so good. Just moved to Detroit from Denver and have been searching all over town for great tacos. I couldn't take one more disappointment but the reviews and menu for here seemed worth a try and I'm so glad we did. We were so blown away by everything we had. The cucumber margarita was tasty and refreshing, the chips and salsa was spot on and the tacos were just what we'd been searching for. Seriously awesome customer service started the moment I walked in the door. Greeted by the waitstaff and the general manager. We tried a variety of tacos and a tostada, all of which were made with fresh ingredients and were excellent! Chips/guac to start were also made fresh in house and you could definitely tell. Good drink selection too. We had a couple of cocktails and margaritas but they also have a huge whiskey/bourbon selection. We'll be back for more! read more

Excellent premium margaritas made with fresh juice and quality tequila. These go perfectly with the fresh, house made chips and flavorful guacamole. You'll need the booze to cope with the riotous and slightly annoying patrons, who arrive already drunk, from the neighboring sportsball arena. It was crazy busy in there and I still had great service and the food was awesome. My waitress Paige explained the menu to my parents as it was their first time there and they're a bit new to the whole taco thing and we all got exactly what we wanted. The guac was great too, perfect amount of spice. I'd recommend it if you're downtown, very close to LCA as well. read more

Went to see Academy Nominated Shorts at the DIA. If you get a chance go ends March 4. See if your pick wins. Then stop at Bakersfield for a bite. Margaritas are off the hook!! Went there for a date and the service was really good and fast. The tacos were fairly delicious but I wish that they offered salsa options to go with your meal. I love Bakersfield, who doesn't on a taco tuesdayyyyy!!! Everything is excellent service and food, but the drinks are so sugary I feel and made my stomach hurt. And also they have a bee infestation problem!!! I sat outside on this pretty patio seating they have, and then I seen 1....2....3...10 bees just flying by my table and others!! It was reallllly stressful!!! Trying to eat and converse, catching up with a friend, it was a bad experience! I felt that they need to fix this situation because as a guest going out to eat...I definitely don't want to be stung by a bee andddd I want to be comfortable when I'm out to eat otherwise I would of made me tacos at home with no bees! The corn chowder was the highlight of my dinner Thursday night. Dinner began with a minor wait for service. A waitress from a nearby table came to my rescue. The chips were passable and the salsa was ordinary. The limited draft beer menu is far from HopCat but a worthy accompaniment for dinner. The chicken taco was tasty. Went here for the cucumber margarita and loved it! Also had some tacos and the chips and guacamole and would come back again! Very vibrant atmosphere, so come here to drink and party. Pros: Queso and chips Close to For the Love of Sugar Cons: Bench table, no back support and what might as well of been an open window in the winter. No blender, so no blended margaritas. Pros: Staff was awesome and the ambiance is great Cons: The drinks were horrible. I'm not sure how they managed to make a horrible Moscow mule and margarita but they did. Not the best beer selection either .Anyone with any taste buds or knows what tacos should taste like would hate this place. Dry chicken & Meat that are flavorless and just covered in slaw. The Pittsburgh location is better but this place has some pretty darn good tacos! I love that you order them ala carte so you can try many of them. The space in the Detroit location is limited but it has great ambiance, though extremely loud. Get the quest dip, you won't regret it. read more

Went on a busy Saturday evening. Had reservations for two but were seated at the bar crammed with people. Someone was already sitting where we were seated so went back to the hostess stand and she went and asked the person to move over a little. No big deal. Bar was extremely busy and bartender forgot our order a few times and didn't come back at all so we could pay the check. Understandable for eating at the bar, but we had reservations. I got the grapefruit margarita and husband got the san luiz (rye and mezcal drink). His drink was delicious. Mine was too sugary (made from a mix) so I left it and ordered the Bakersfield margarita. Again, kind of sweet, but better than the grapefruit. Drank about half of that. Food was delicious. Guacamole had chunks of avocado and was great. Tacos were on point. Sesame chicken taco and bistec taco were definitely highlights. We did watch our food go back and forth from the kitchen a few times as the server couldn't figure out whose food it was. In summary, service definitely needs fine tuning, drinks were average, but the food was worth the trip! read more

Had a fantastic experience before a concert at LCA. Never been to this or any other location. We were on time for our reservation. From the prompt courteous check-in, to the comfortable seating and great vibe, and then to the food and drink everything was outstanding. Sean, our waiter, was attentive, funny, experienced, and made us feel very welcome indeed. Chips and salsa (three kinds) were awesome. Various tacos were all fresh and delicious (Perhaps a bit small but that's to be expected). Tostada was fantastic. Clay, the manager was warm and gracious. I'd go back in a second! Went to Bakersfield after a show at the Fisher, and the experience was amazing. From our hostess Angelina getting us a table in the packed restaurant to the exceptional service from Korin and Craig was a great way to end the night. The food was delicious and very well priced.
