Came here before the tigers game. Service was efficient. Mech was our waitress and she helped answer our 101Questions on the menu about food and drinks-- she is awesome! We enjoyed the guacamole- so fresh and chips and the happy hour drinks. Tacos are flavorful. Tortilla was not warm. Will plan to come back in the future!

Came on a Saturday night with reservations and it was packed but we were sat quickly! Our server was quick as well which was nice bec we had tickets for a show. Now the chips were AWFUL like a pile of grease the server did get us new ones upon request but that's just how the chips were which was absolutely unfortunate but the short rib queso was good at least!! The tacos were good but the tortillas were cold which also was not great. By far the fish taco was the best followed by the shrimp, short rib, then pork. All in all it was a good experience and the margaritas were good!

I tried this spot for the first time. The tacos were decent but I needed some kinda sauce to add to them. We had the Baja Shrimp Taco, Pollo Verde Taco, El Pastor. In edition we had the Mexican style empanadas and short rib queso which were all pretty good. I especially loved the spicy margaritas. Servers were very nice. Only thing I didn't like as much was the seating as it was picnic style.

My girlfriend and I came here after a Tiger's game. We had passed by many times and it always smelled amazing. We were seated right away and ordered the dinner for 2, which is one dip, two bocaditos or app/sides, and 6 tacos. We also shared a pineapple margarita. We added chorizo to our queso, so an $11 dip, and it was smaller than we expected. However, it was very tasty. Our bocaditos came, she had the rice and beans $7, and I had the stuffed poblano pepper $10. Outside of one taco, this was our favorite part of the meal. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly and tasted great. My stuffed poblano left me wanting another one. (Total $25 or $28 w/ chorizo) The only reason im including pricing is to point out that $27 dollars went to six tacos. So each one was $4.50 They were street taco sized... Pictures all show what we got. The only one i would recommend would be the baja shrimp taco, it was killer. The rest were nothing to write home about. Also the margarita at $12, in a mason jar was cute, but we didnt order another. If we were to go back, it would be for an appetizer before we got dinner elsewhere. Its a nice place, and the overall experience was positive. Just expensive, and there are way better places around to get more bang for your buck.

I've been here a couple of times now... I've tried a few different things on the menu. It's a great place with a great atmosphere and the perfect location to grab a bite to eat before an event downtown. Service is always great. The food comes quickly even when the restaurant is over crowded with fans dining out before a game. The tacos are okay. The short rib queso is okay. I asked for some tajin to sprinkle on-top and it took the dish up a a few notches. I really think they should consider just putting that on there in the 1st place. The dish went from a 5/10 to a 9/10. It was amazing after the fact. The tajin tastes so good, I like to lick it off the rim of my drink (no shame). They put it on the rim of the pineapple margarita which I'm very obsessed with. That was the only thing on the menu that I truly love and will rave about. I got it every time I went. I didn't care for the papas or the taquitos. The presentation is nice but that's about it. Would I go back? Yes, absolutely for the pineapple margarita and the tajin seasoning to put on-top of the queso dip.

WOW! Where do I begin? Visiting Detroit for the first time I was looking for a place to grab dinner near a family member's hotel. Bakersfield DET had good reviews, and I was able to make a reservation on a Monday at 5:30 for 4 of us. The host was so friendly and accommodating to find us a table that would be better for one of us who uses a cane to get around. He was so kind and positive. Brandi then took over with service, explaining it was happy hour. We started with the chips and salsa which consisted of three VERY tasty salsas and chips for $3.50. The chips and guac was also super delicious and only $5. Ten-dollar margaritas? Yes, please! Que Rico. Yummers. We all decided to get an assortment of tacos for dinner. The Al Pastor with pork, pineapple, pickled white onions and cilantro was my favorite. The Baja Shrimp taco and Huitlacoche taco were also delicious. The side of rice and beans was incredible! Everything we tried was superb, as was the service. As we were wrapping up the host came by to help clear the table and was just as friendly as when we arrived. Love this place. The food, the people, the drinks, the bar scene and the vibe - amazing!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to make it to this glorious place! I cannot wait to go back! We made reservations before a wings game. Parking was tough to find. We got a pitcher or margaritas which was a great choice. And the tacos, oh my goodness, sooooooo delicious! I think about them often and look forward to more soon!

Grab some tasty tacos before a downtown event, or anytime! Love this place. We sat at the bar and ordered the baja shrimp tacos. Small in size but at $4.50 a piece you really can't do much better than this. Mix and match with other taco styles--chicken, fish, pork, braised short rib and more. A fun atmosphere to just hang out, enjoy a drink from their extensive drink menu. Gets quite crowded on game days so a good idea to consider making a reservation.

Definitely recommend making a reservation here, especially on game days! It gets very busy here and for good reason -- the tacos are so tasty! My friends and I all loved the baja shrimp taco and the queso. I only got one taco and rice and beans, but loved the taco so much, I wish I got another. I'll echo others and say that you'll likely need to find parking elsewhere.

Two of us went on a Thursday at 4pm with no reservations just as they opened. It's bench style seating with a country/western theme to it and TVs all around. We were seated right away and our drink orders taken. Within 3 minutes our cocktails arrived and we were able to place our order for apps and entrees right after. Those also came out quickly and looked amazing. Our server was very nice and checked on us regularly and topped off our waters when they were low. To start off we got the honeydew margarita and the grapefruit radler cocktail. Both were delicious! I'm not much of a drinker and that was the first time I finished a margarita by myself. We chose the dinner for two that included chips & dip, 2 apps, and 6 tacos for $26 per person which wasn't too bad for all that was included. We ordered the basic chips and salsa that came with a salsa roja and salsa verde. The verde was my favorite of the two since it was more sour. The roja was just a bit too sweet for me. For apps, we ordered the esquites and the chicken taquitos as well. The esquites, while they were good, we expected it to be a hot dish rather than a cold dish but still enjoyed it and even dipped our chips into it like a salsa. The chicken taquitos were such a surprise when they arrived to the table plated beautifully and made with blue corn tortillas! We loved them. We tried several different tacos including the pollo verde, carnitas, fish, and al pastor. Each taco had it's own unique flavor and were also well-presented. By the time we were ready to leave the restaurant was full with red wings fans catching a meal before the game. It was a nice atmosphere to be in. Cool place to try when you're downtown!

We came here for dinner today and the food was great! The restaurant does take reservations, which was convenient. We shared the queso and it was delicious. My friend got the Willie salad and like it. I got some tacos: pollo verde, baja shrimp, and cochinita pibil (pork). The shrimp and pork were my favs, they were so good. Beautiful restaurant and attentive staff buttttt the food just isn't good. I've dined here more than a few times, and really tried to like something on the menu! Coming from a Mexican family that really enjoys tacos I would have to say your best bet at OK tacos are the shrimp and fish ones. Also, the chips that come with salsa/guac/queso are a bit tasteless. Honestly, if you enjoy Imperial you'll probably like Bakersfield. Both are a no for me. read more

This place is amazing. The guacamole is fabulous. We were there on 2-17-19. Our service was "a bit slow." But, they were packed. We didn't let it bother us. We had appetizers and a pitcher of Pineapple Margaritas. I love this place. The food is fantastic. I believe it will become our "go to" whenever we go to LCA for something. I apologize for not knowing our servers name. We were the patrons sitting at the High-top when you first walk in. It was us (a group of 4) and then a group of 3 shared the high-top with us (although we were two separate parties). We arrived around 2:45-3:00 pm on Sunday, 2-17-2019. See you next time. So I plan on having my birthday at Bakersfield and I am looking forward to celebrating my birthday on July 19 with the bank I'll be 32 years old and I am looking forward to having some amazing Mexican street food again I also know that some people don't know about Bakersfield but I will definitely give them the best time of their life tequila and more and margaritas and whiskey I say cheers. I know that I've been twice so now I really want to see you guys for a dessert menu together and to help with dad want you guys think of something that's really awesome maybe like southern comfort of bread pudding or or like something like from the south to the twist in twined things and maybe a little bit of a buckeyes and such I just think that if you don't have a dessert menu it doesn't make a restaurant restaurant come on people I think that most on my time been the biggest girls been incredible I hope to see an expansion of the menu and more tacos more tostadas more such and such read more

Tried 3 tacos-sesame chicken, carnitas, short rib. Great flavors, and love the homemade white corn tortillas. Also had the potato tostada, potatoes never tasted so good! Washed it down with a Bakersfield Sour and grapefruit margarita, tasty and refreshing. Loved the vibe with all the people and music playing. I didn't love this place. I wasn't bad but, for me, it was not as good as all the other reviews. I had the short rib taco and shrimp taco which was good. The mahi taco was bland. Not a fan of the bench seating. The pineapple margarita was good. And the chips and salsa was just ok. Salsa wasn't that good. Overall...it was cool but not great. Sorry. read more

A gem on a restaurant. It's sort of a Tex-Mex place with very reasonably priced food. Not a huge selection, but it's all well prepared and tasty. Fun atmosphere, especially if you sit near the huge, open windows. read more

Mercedes was our server and she provided outstanding service during a high traffic NCAA weekend in Detroit. Despite the crowd we felt like her only customers. She knew her menu very well and was patient with us while remaining attentive. Guacamole is perfection, shrimp tacos were phenomenal and the corn chowder had me almost licking the bowl. Margaritas were strong, fresh and the price on a pitcher for what you get out of it was a steal. Loved the rustic industrial ambiance as well. Definitely fills a food gap the D has been lacking. Love this place and I hope Bree gets a chance to see this! My coworkers planned a going away dinner for me here and the service we got from Bree and her team was simply amazing. The food came out hot and fresh, drinks came out timely and perfect, and it was organized. When there's 22 people sometimes dinner doesn't go so smooth. At Bakersfield it went perfectly! Just WOW. Visiting Detroit for USA VOLLEYBALL Nationals and Fourth of July weekend. The staff greeted us warmly, seated us immediately, and had our drinks on the table in no time! DELICIOUS cucumber margaritas in large pitchers arrived while our OUTSTANDING waitress, Megan guided us through the menu with enthusiasm! The fresh fresh fresh guacamole and warm crunchy chips with yummy smokey salsa were perfect as we awaited our tacos. So many choices and ALL were gourmet with their layers of flavors! The meal and service was SO SPECIAL that we HAD to come back one more time before leaving town. We brought 10 people and all said it was the best food and service that they had had in Detroit! A shout out to our second sweet waitress Kafi and manager Clay for making it worth the second trip too! We are San Franciscans and love exceptional food--you WON'T be disappointed if you choose Bakersfield!! read more

First visit-the guacamole is the best EVER!! We had the short rib tacos and I had the "pibel"-very spicy! Pure Heaven . And the waiter was very attentive and helpful. This was our first visit. Oh my gosh! This place is Grrrreat! Not only did we notify them a couple weeks ahead that we had a large group of 25 and when we ended up with 30 people and they were sooooo accomodating! This is how you run a business. We made reservations. When we arrived, table wasn't available. So the hostess offered to buy us (party of 2) a round of drinks! We got the premium margaritas which were delicious! We still had to wait at the bar for over half an hour so ended up ordering guacamole and chips. Also delicious. I was satisfied with the drinks however when we got to the table, Dayton, the manager personally came over to apologize even though we only waited half an hour. We ordered our food which came out timely. Had the short rib tostado, fish taco, and shrimp tacos. All delicious. He ended up adjusting our bill. It wasn't necessary but it was much appreciated. I will definitely tell friends to come here and will definitely return to this establishment. Awesome job! read more

Fun, lively spot with freshly made margaritas (no sweet & sour mix here), delicious guacamole & great music! The corn chowder was fantastic! Very casual atmosphere with a menu that screams fresh & homemade! Lots of very good tequilas & unique Mexican beer. Perfect restaurant/bar for friends/family/co-workers. The seating policy is very strict and does not provide leeway when the restaurant isn't fully occupied.

Went to Bakersfield after a show at the Fisher, and the experience was amazing. From our hostess Angelina getting us a table in the packed restaurant to the exceptional service from Korin and Craig was a great way to end the night. The food was delicious and very well priced. One of our Servers Korin mentioned their specialty margarita and it was absolutely delicious.
