The cost was affordable - even for people like me who don't have dental insurance coverage - thanks to their in-house program and reasonable, straightforward pricing. Anna at the front gave me a written treatment plan instantly at the completion of the first visit, then explained my payment options. Dental work is never fun, of course, but Dr. Gomes made sure I was not feeling any discomfort before starting the work. And she took the time to carefully explain both the procedure and my options, as well as follow-up and aftercare. The dental assistant. Cathy, was knowledgeable and helpful as well. She explained the paperwork and prep, and got me ready for the procedures, then did her part to assist Dr. Gomes. She also helped by reminding me to relax and breathe during the work, since I sometimes get nervous and tense up. It sounds like a small thing, but it shows she was paying attention to my status as well as the doctor's instructions, and finding ways to make things go more smoothly. Dr. Gomes even called me personally the night after my morning procedure, to check on me. She didn't just tell me to call her if I had problems. She contacted me to find out how I was doing, firsthand. I haven't had a dentist do that before, but I later found out that Dr. Gomes does that for every patient who has an extraction. Overall, I feel like I got and am getting the best possible dental care I can get from Dr Gomes and her staff. And I also feel like I got that for a fair and reasonable price. Since those two things don't always go together, Stencil Dental is really something special. I am new to the area and hadn't found a local dentist yet - but now I have. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

She listens, takes pride in her work, and I'd be surprised if there's a better dentist out there. My family stayed with this practice for years because of her talent, despite noticing high turnover among the hygiene and office staff. Unfortunately, a recent issue with the billing department ruined our experience. After receiving an unexpected charge that was not disclosed prior to treatment, I attempted to resolve it via email. I received a brief, abrasive response alongside a hand-scribbled bill that lacked clear explanation. To clarify the charge, a Cigna insurance representative joined me on a conference call to advocate on my behalf. During that call, the billing staff member, Colin, was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted the representative, and became heated when challenged. While Cigna successfully got the inaccurate charge waived, our reward for advocating for transparent billing was receiving a certified letter terminating our care. Dr. Gomes is one of the best dentists around, but the unprofessionalism and hostility from her administrative team ultimately forced us out. I strongly encourage management to review phone recordings with Cigna so Dr. Gomes understands how her patients are being treated behind closed doors.

I was told by another patient that they will charge you the rates insurance companies pay if you are poor, but I haven't asked for that myself since I may not be poor enough. If you are poor, it is worth asking (you should speak to your dentist, not the secretaries at the front desk). A friend of mine who was poor was allowed to pay in installments. You can see my difficulty in rating this practice -- it has standard fees which are way too high, but they are willing to offer discounts. How does one rate that? My four-star rating is based on my estimate of the quality of their work. The dental assistants do a great job of cleaning teeth, but the price for a cleaning is now $120. But it takes only 35 minutes to clean your teeth, for which the dental technician is paid about $30 (including benefits), so is that a fair price? It seems to me that if a dental technician is doing it and not the dentist, it should cost less.

My son used to be terrified of going to the dentist but since we have switched to Lavoie Pediatric Dentistry he is no longer scared. Carin is FANTASTIC and did his cleaning today. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us some tips on how to maintain good oral health at the same time making us feel like we were talking to an old friend. She also made my son feel good about himself . He was smiling the whole time. Dr Lavoie is also wonderful. He talks to us in ways that we understand which makes me feel comfortable.
