Oh my back my back! It hurts it hurts! I came in to address a problem with my back that Ive been having for the past 3-4 weeks or so... Like your typical man I brushed it off for a while untill it started to become crippling bad. I had to wait a whole week before getting an appointment. They are really busy compared to when I was here back in 2019. So the Doctor felt me up ( He man handled me lol) If you are ticklish this may not be for you. He adjusted my shoulders spine hips moving them to the correct place before sticking needles in. He gave me a explanation of what was going on with my body, my shoulders and ribs not aligned and the muscles over compensate for it's misplacement. He predicted that I'll call back for another session in 2-3 weeks. I believe he's right since it took a while for this to develop, I think it's going to take a few visit to fix it. read more

Please believe me when I tell you that BCW has been my saving grace! I see Dr Hank and he is so good at what he does. He is very kind, down to earth, funny and knowledgeable. He knows exactly how to help people. I suffer from a herniated disc, groin pain, sciatica and overall body aches and pain that makes me limp and need to use a can. He has helped my pain decrease and am having to use the cane less often. I have Kaiser and aside from giving me drugs, they couldn't help me much. Acupuncturists: Experienced, licensed acupuncturists. Not straightforward acupuncture. This is more like physical therapy meets acupuncture as there is a lot of body movement and manipulation in addition to needle placement. Results are not immediate, they take several treatments, but over time there is defininte improvement. Facilities: The lobby is nice, but the treatment rooms look a bit worn as does their equipment. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. Partial window coverings let all the light in and the massage tables are rather poor quality and quite uncomfortable, so it is not very relaxing. Insurance: Good news is they accept insurance. Front Desk Staff: Friendly and efficient. Easy scheduling. Parking: Ample free parking directly in front of the office. read more

Hank is professional, personable and knowledgeable. My first visit I used Kaiser to cover the expense but I think I received advance treatment even though my insurance paid for only basic care. Very thankful for him as he seemed very concerned about my condition. A forewarning is that the methods they use require a lot of touching and massaging. I didn't really get a warning until he started touching me. After the first couple of times I put my trust in him and the touching didn't bother me much. I went to them for 6 months but I decided to try somewhere else because of several reasons. One, is that after 6 months of going weekly he couldn't give me any sort of timeline on how much more I would have to go. Even with the insurance it isn't cheap going every week $70 a pop and that's with Kaiser covering some of it. Two, they use a method that is secretive. Hank explained that it's a Taiwanese style that is highly exclusive to the students the teacher chooses. Because of the lack of transparency it's hard to judge whether they're methods are tested and received well by Americans. I did go for 6 months because I did see improvements with my condition but after 4 months of going I didn't see any improvement for the last 2 months. I walked into Balance Care in severe pain from spinal stenosis. Chiropractic had helped for a time until my condition got worse. My doctor had prescribed a narcotic painkiller and another medication but I didn't want to get dependent on them, so except in the most extreme circumstances I just tried to tolerate the pain. Hank worked with me and I had my first acupuncture. Before the acupuncture, he did some manipulation of my muscles in my back and legs. After my treatment I felt better but I progressively got even better through the week. Each time I've gone I have felt better and better and now I am able to comfortably go a month between treatments. I used to get very bad cramping during my period and I had some serious digestion problems and also insomnia; after seeing dr. I cannot rave enough about the care I have been given in the last 3 appts. I came to BCW with what I have self-diagnosed as a pinched nerve in my neck as I have been to 2 dr/2 specalists/& the Er and they gave me drugs and didnt bother to examine or diagnosis me. It has been almost 1 1/2 mo that I have been in excruciating pain from my shoulder to my arm, hand numb and weak and I could not get help. Hank is so kind and so thorough, he does extensive body manipulation on me and then acupuncture.I felt a difference after the first visit, less pain& numbness easier to sleep & live in general. I have been able to stop taking the nerve pain meds the Western Drs. prescribed. I feel hope now that if I continue to come I may be able to have a life again. I have been suffering from back pain for the last month so severe that I can not even get out of bed at time or lift my leg. I have needed help with almost everything including using the restroom. This is the best acupuncture treatment I've had. I won't say I am an acupuncture junkie but through out the years I have seen around 10 different doctors in this field. The technique used here with acupuncture and acupressure done simultaneously is amazing. The doctor is extremely patient and thorough. I live in Cerritos but I drive all the way to Glendora for their treatment;that should say a lot reflecting their amazing work. I saw both Dr. Chen and Dr. Liao and they are both good at what they are doing. The clinic offers a variety of therapy depending on your need; personally, I have tried acupunncture, cupping, herbal supplements, and massage. The following review is specifically for the massage. I have been to many different massage places prior to this experience. This one is phenomenal. Starting with the environment: The clinic is very clean and bright, while other places may be dark and not so clean. It also gives you complete privacy where you have your own room and there is soft music playing in the background to help you relax, while in other places, you need to pay extra to have your own VIP room or else you are having massage with a group of strangers some may be snoring next to you, and occasionally, farting next to you. Secondly, the clinic provides one-time-use-cloth for you to wear for the massage and keep you warm with the ultra red light lamp (same equipment the clinic uses for heat therapy) instead of hot towels that I often wonder if they are clean or not at other massage places. Jenny was the one who gave me massage. She would start the massage from foot to scalp. She is very professional and really do relax your muscle at the end of the therapy. I've been to several acupuncture clinics from Arcadia to Garden Grove and I haven't been to one as caring, knowledgeable and professional as Balance Care. These guys know their stuff and will work with you until they make you feel better. Today Andrew looked at me and said that he loved what he does because it's like putting together a puzzle. This is a place were your not just a number or just a means to a paycheck. There have been times when he's worked with me for almost two hours by stretching me, using accupuncture, acupressure and cupping to ease and eliminate my pain. I came to this place with an 8 level pain and about 10 treatments later the sciatica pain is completely gone. Now we're working on another getting my legs healthy again. Love this place. Both my daughter and I come here. My daughter was injured during cheerleading practice. At first I was referred to a chiropractor, he was very nice but the pain on her back was still there. Then weeks later I slipped down the stairway and I was holding my puppy so in order for the puppy not to get hurt I somehow managed to shift my body to the opposite side but landed on my tailbone so hard. It was the worst pain! I couldn't really walk. So I came on here and decided to look for acupuncturist and after doing my research I found them. So after my first appointment i felt so much better and immediately booked an appointment for my daughter as well. So when my daughter came to the first visit we found out that her body had shifted to one side and her elbow was out which was causing her pressure on her ribs. Ughhh! My poor daughter. He took her out from doing cheer for a month. Well I'm happy to say that she's been cleared to cheer again without restrictions and she couldn't be happier! I absolutely love this place! I was VERY skeptical about acupuncture. I've always been afraid of needles so doing this was a huge leap for me. My neck, shoulder and back pain was so chronic that I was ready to try anything at this point. The staff is wonderful, Hank is kind, Jenny the masseuse is a dream and Andrew is my acupuncturist - I just love him! He takes the time to explain how all of the procedures work together from acupuncture to cupping and stretch techniques that he teaches me. He's patient and doesn't rush me through anything. Not to mention, they handle all of my insurance papers, with no head ache to me. Jenny is a great masseuse - she is so great at what she does. She makes me snore! :) I've been going for about 2-3 months now - I was at a level 20 on a pain scale of 1-10 when I walked through their door. I have been amazed at the care and results I have experienced from Dr. Hank and his associate Andrew Chen also. They understand the muscles and tendons of the body! They are amazing. I have had upper and lower back, leg, and shoulder pain all my life. Pain medication does not resolve the underlying problems. Eventually, I stopped going to chiropractors because their treatments were too rough and often seemed to make things worse. A friend strongly recommended this clinic to me. It took 2 years before I trusted her and made an appointment. I was not familiar with Eastern medicine. I still do not understand the process of acupuncture. But that coupled with gentle manipulation of painful areas during the process relieves the pain, usually before I leave the office. I have learned to drink lots of water after a treatment and rest. By the next day I feel 100% better. My lifestyle still leads me to overdo it. So I return for treatments maybe 5-8 times a year over the last 2 years.
