I'm going to be honest, the shade of brown was nice, that's if I ASKED for brown hair. Or didn't have brown hair to start with. During the text consultation, I asked her if she could lift me a few levels up and sent her a picture of the current state of my hair. She said yes, she can do that. I was like great! I asked if she could do this certain blonde balayage on me and she said yes she can! So I sent her the $50 deposit and was ready to go. I was pumped and stoked for my new hair. I couldn't wait to be a little blonder. I was ready to have "more fun". Once I showed up, she asked what I wanted and I showed her the same picture I showed her when I texted her (the picture she said she can do for me). But when I showed her the picture, she said she couldn't do it? I understand if she was unable to do something but she needed to let me know before I made the deposit. I paid way too much for something I didn't want. When I was getting my hair done, she seemed rushed and didn't really give me much attention so I felt a little out of place. I mean hey, I'm not some wilting flower who demands attention and will die if I don't get any attention in T minus 8 seconds, but if her assistant gave me more attention, something's off. She was applying the beach on my hair like she was being timed on an exam. I felt extremely juggled. Which is fine, there's nothing wrong with trying to crunch in a bunch of clients but no need to toss me to the side like a salad on thanksgiving. The difference was way too subtle, all my friends said it didn't even look any different than it did before. When I got out of the salon, my hair was really fried and damaged. It was pretty damaged before but it looked even worse afterwards. I'm sure this isn't her intentional fault but I am just being honest and I was not too happy with it. This is the supermarket equivalent of getting a $19 banana at whole foods. If you're a blonde you should definitely get your hair done here. I have visited Linet twice. The first time she gave me beautifully blended icy balayage. It grew out like a dream. For my color refresh, I went to another hairdresser recommended by a friend. NEVER AGAIN. I am VERY picky when it comes to my hair. It defines your look and personality. The other stylist did not regard my inspiration photo AT ALL. She ended up bleaching most of my hair and failed to tone the brassiness out. I was told not to wear it straight and that I "have to curl it to blend the harshness". I knew for a FACT that this was not true at ALL. I, immediately, ran to Linet to fix the HARSH BRASSY MESS on my head. She added a little bleach to select areas, lowlights to blend the harsh lines, and toned my hair on the warmer spectrum. It has been only a couple days and it has lighted with sun exposure already. I trust that it will grow out nicely blended. I feel like myself again and I, absolutely, love both the cool and warm looks Linet has given me. I can not recommend her more. I believe that balayage is an art and many stylists do not know the correct techniques to achieve this lived in look. Let me preface this by saying that I genuinely dislike resorting to writing bad reviews when I feel like there is a more understanding way that situations can be handled, but if you are considering booking with Linet, please save your wallet & yourself & book LITERALLY anyone else. Here's the tea: I booked with Linet via text. She was very responsive & seemed sweet. I showed her a picture of my current hair & my "hair goal" picture & asked her the price. She quoted me $425. Mind you, she said nothing about it being that price PER SESSION. She saw both pictures & gave me the price, leading me to believe that the transformation total -- regardless of the fact that it would take numerous sessions -- would be $425. Take notes my friends, because this comes back later in the saga. Some context: I grew up living next-door to a hairstylist that owns her own salon, so needless to say, even though I've never done hair myself, I know a lot about it. I still go to this stylist when I visit my parents back home & before I embarked on this hair journey I called her & she talked me through everything the process would require. I have used black hair dye for the past four years & am lightening it to platinum. I am well aware that this process takes numerous sessions & extensive hair care in between. I did not expect to go from a level 1 (black) to a level 10 (platinum) in one session. However, I also did not expect the blotchy Kindergarten disaster I got either. Sorry, no, let's go with preschool. When I arrived all giddy & excited for my appointment, I was surprised to find that Linet was not the stylist taking care of me that day. In fact, she was not even in the salon. Guess it was too much for me to expect the stylist I booked with to be the stylist at my appointment???? Lololol but nope, she pawned me off on somebody else without even having the decency to let me know. To protect the integrity of the stylist who did do my hair, (even though the integrity of my hair itself was completely destroyed), I won't disclose her name. She was very sweet & I enjoyed her company a lot, however she must have been new or just needs proper training because a process that should have taken about 6 hours took her 2. She first offered me an Olaplex treatment for $75. The best part: she was going to use Olaplex No. 3. I own that shit & use it every week at home & I got a whole ass bottle for $30 & you're telling me it's $75 for ONE 10-minute treatment? thank u, NEXT has ever been more appropriate in any moment than it was in that one. She then proceeded to shock my hair. I know this because bleach should stay in the hair for longer than fifteen minutes before your scalp feels like the actual sun is taking a shit on your head. After 15 minutes my hair felt like it was on fire & she washed the bleach out. Then she toned my hair this terribly ugly brown color & that was that. The whole session lasted less than 2 hours. I also walked out of this salon with DRIPPING WET HAIR because it costs EXTRA TO BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR EVEN AFTER SPENDING HALF A GRAND. The picture of my hair below was taken the same day as my appointment. Not even a week later, my hair was BREAKING SIX INCHES UP THE SHAFT. THE TEA FULLY SPILLED: I was charged the price of FULL balayage for a blotchy bleach. (Remember in the beginning when I mentioned I was told $425 in total? Nope. She charged me $425 PER SESSION.) I did NOT receive balayage. I paid (after tip) upwards of $500 for my hair to look like poop & ultimately fall out. THE BEST PART: I texted Linet & was waaay too patient & kindly expressed my concerns about the experience. I asked her if there was anything we could do to rectify the situation. I waited over a month for a reply. She didn't even have the DECENCY to TEXT ME BACK. The final picture I included is the balayage I received when I went to the Butterfly Loft Salon to fix my hair disaster. I went to an amazing stylist who bleached, toned, balayaged, cut, & styled my hair for $300. She saved my hair. Linet is not a nice person. She'll let your hair get destroyed then ghost you. BEWARE. UPDATE: 5 months since I wrote this & I've received numerous DMs from women who've had the exact same experience. It's honestly horrifying & so sad to know that Linet chooses to purposely destroy her clients' hair. Also -- adding in a picture of my hair now to show all of you beautiful ladies out there that there are WAYYY better stylists who can get you your goal hair! All it takes is some research & asking around to find them. :) Please be careful & don't trust Linet's Instagram. So glad I came across Linet on yelp. Did some lengthy research to find someone I was comfortable with touching my hair. I was honestly very hesitant on settling to find someone to color my hair.
