This is a hard review to have to write, due to my love of Baldino's subs. I haven't had a Baldino's sub in over 10 years due to not having a location near enough to my house or my visits around the country, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a location in downtown Macon, which was not far off the highway, so I took my life and sanity into my hands by chancing a drive through the mess that is downtown Macon. While the location of the deli is in a good spot, be careful where you park. I got inside and ordered from the owner/manager, a friendly and pleasant woman, and proceeded to wait for my order. 2 simple sandwiches, no special ingredients, made the "Baldino's Way", and after waiting for considerable time for the employees to make the order (they were busy laughing and talking amongst themselves and getting orders wrong left and right, and literally laughing over the sandwiches, as in LEANING OVER and laughing) I got my order and left. We ate our sandwiches on the road since we had a long way to go. Worst sandwiches I have had. Absolutely LOADED with oregano (see pic of tomato doused in oregano) and zero oil and vinegar on either. Horrible taste with all the oregano and lack of oil and vinegar. I had to apologize to my brother for suggesting Baldino's, he probably won't take a chance in another location. Note to owner/manager: ask your employees to pay attention to what they are doing, don't talk and giggle with your face inches from a sandwich, and stop lollygagging when you have multiple customers waiting. This place won't survive long if they keep getting reviews like mine and others I've seen on here. What a shame. read more

This place is a throwback. I haven't been in years on years. But it is still awesome. I got the Italian Battalion full size. It was WAY too big for me. Just half was very filling and I had them wrap the rest. The meat on this thing is over an inch thick. It is crazy. But tasty. If you are really hungry this thing will bring you back to life. This was one of the only restaurants that didn't have a ridiculous wait, even in an off hour in the afternoon, during the cherry blossom festival. My bf and I split a steak/peppers/onions/cheese on white hot sandwich. It definitely hit the spot and the staff was super friendly. If it had been any softer it couldn't have held the meat. And so fresh! The shop is just downtown on Cherry street, so easy access and street parking. It's a sandwich shop, so nothing special inside. One of the many things I love about Baldino's is their fresh bread and freshly sliced meat!! Every time I have been I am blown away by how yummy the sandwich is!! I remember when the original Baldino's was here back in the early 2000's, I think it was on Spring St. omg they were so good and I was so excited when they came back to Macon. They have really fell off and is not good at all, the manager is not friendly at all and acts a little racist, I ate a cheese steak and a turkey hoagie there and when I tell you that both sandwiches tasted horrible. I WANT MY COOKIE!! I ordered a kids combo and it said it comes with a cookie. I went and asked them for my cookie and one of the guys laughed at me and said this ain't McDonald's. This other lady said you be a little kid to get a cookie. How is that fair. I'm just a smol bean. I paid for my kids combo and they didn't tell me you have to be small to receive a cookie. I am glad Macon has a Baldinos again. I grew up eating baldinos when it was in the original spring street building. I still wish it was in the original building simply because it has the smell of baldinos built into the walls. Smelled sooo good! I am just glad it's back in Macon. Ordered from here today for our luncheon meeting & was looking forward to this meal. Unfortunately, I found it to be not as good as I remembered & very disappointing. The taste/flavor was JUST okay, nothing special & the bread absolutely substandard. I know fresh bread as I often purchase fresh rolls from the Publix bakery & make my own sandwiches. The roll that was used on my sandwich was dry & if I had to guess, old bread that had been sitting for a minimum of two days. Now I don't know that to be factual but it certainly seemed to be the case. My total bill, tip included was $92 & change. Don't think I'll make that mistake again. The people that work here are nice but then again, they should be & my review is based solely on the quality of the product that I paid for. I think I'll pass on this place going forward. read more

I'm from coastal Georgia so I was highly excited when I heard Macon was getting a Baldino's. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. There was NOTHING that spoke Baldino's when it came to this turkey sandwich that I ordered. It was very tasteless and the lettuce and tomatoes were not fresh. The mayo tasted like an off brand from Wal-mart. The bread was breaking before I even finished my sandwich. The original Baldino's would NEVER! I will not be visiting this location again.
