The Five Elements is by far the nicest place I have been to here in San Diego I thought for sure this was going to be a spendy trip. I was WRONG they had exactly what I wanted for a phenomenal price. Not so great: refill product quality, choices, community spirit…read moreGreat: it is still offering eco-friendly alternative I loved this place when I lived in North County and first realized that a less wasteful option was available for everyday products. I started to visit all the refill businesses in San Diego to support them. I realized that this refillery is lacking when it comes to actual refill products. It's more focused on selling high end reusable or single packed products. Other refilleries will have all of their products out on display. This place does not; there's no room, especially with all the other products they are choosing to showcase. I have gotten a foaming hand soap and lotion at this refillery which has a waxy smell and residue that I have not encountered elsewhere. It's not hugely unpleasant, just a little strange. I have also preferred the scents that I have encountered at other places. Refilleries tend to carry some of the same brands, but I have gotten foaming hand soap and lotion at other places that were different. As for community spirit, I know other locations where customers can donate clean empty containers for others to use if they forgot to bring something. This has helped me on numerous occasions when I didn't have the best container for what I wanted. I have donated new containers to other refilleries that my work was going to toss out which are ideal for refill purposes. This refillery does not offer that option, presumably because they have containers for sale. So to sum up my review, not ideal as a refillery, better options out there if you are willing to seek them. This place still offers an alternative if you are trying to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Not the best location for fitting the spirit of the eco-friendly community.

If I were to guess why there aren't a ton of reviews, I'd imagine it's because Jose is too humble and respectful to ask his clients to spend time writing a review. But I want the world to know of my amazing experience with Jose and his crew at Coastline Flooring! If you don't want to read my novel of a review, I will tell you quickly that Jose is honest, professional, knowledgable, and he gave me a very fair quote! The price I paid was an amazing value for the level of quality and customer service Jose and his team provided! From the first meeting to the very end Jose was professional, helpful, and honest. I had interviewed a few different contractors so I already had some idea of the type of sales tactics these other guys would use on me. Jose didn't do any of it, no B.S. no games, no upselling, just honest advice and great customer service. First of all, I had a leak coming from my neighbors wall so I had initially thought to put an epoxy coating on my concrete slab foundation. Jose pulled out his moisture reader and let me know it wouldn't be necessary but he could do the service if I wanted to. When it came to material I had already done some shopping at other flooring stores. I wanted luxury vinyl plank that was stone composite so that there was no risk of mold. Another flooring company had recommended Essen Flooring's Stone Powder Core (SPC) line Le Luxe, so I already had it in my mind. When Jose arrived at my house, he offered me that exact material right off the bat without me even mentioning it. He didn't spend time trying to upsell me or give me any fluff, he presented the best option right from the start, and I had not mentioned to him that I had done extensive research on the flooring and had already decided on that exact material. He had samples in his truck that he brought in and showed me. I originally had in mind that millenial grey colored luxury vinyl but I'm so glad he steered me into a more timeless look with a more natural looking wood color. He let me know that the Monte Cinto color was the most popular and he even had it in his own home. I was already convinced that I would move forward with Jose from our first interaction, but he only continued to impress me with his professionalism and helpfulness throughout the rest of my remodel process. When it came to scheduling, I was trying to manage some of the trades in my home remodel on my own so I couldn't give Jose a hard definitive date on when I'd be ready to begin floor demo and prep. Jose remained flexible and courteous throughout this time giving me a heads up when his availability was and also looking out for me in terms of ordering the material. He continued to give me updates on when he'd be booked and once my project started coming together I worked with him to lock down a date. There was also a bit of a mixup where my HVAC contractor had arrived earlier than stated and they were relocating my entire HVAC unit from ground level to my attic all the while Jose and his crew were demo'ing the floor. Jose continued to work cool as a cucumber even with 8 HVAC technicians running around dodging him and his teammate. Jose worked quickly and efficiently, even being courteous by working in sections as to not disrupt the HVAC guys. I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness here and calmness during the surprise. Once demo was done he made sure to do a walkthrough with me to ensure I was aware of next steps. Demo went very smooth! Another curveball came Jose's way as I was going to be replacing my interior doors and patio sliding door. The doors were significantly delayed so we would need to install the doors after floor were in. Jose was very thoughtful and had pre-cut the sections of baseboard where the doors would go but did not nail them in to allow for the door contractor to finish it when they were ready. He walked me through my options of how to handle the baseboards around the closet and gave some great advice on how to finish the baseboards along with the interior doors and closets. Jose I want to sincerely thank you and your team for your amazing work on my house! I appreciate you working with me through the unexpected surprises and curveballs thrown your way throughout my project. You were so professional throughout it all and I could tell you and your crew take pride in your work! Your integrity does not go unnoticed, you did several small things that I deeply appreciated and I'm super grateful that I got to work with you!
