Advent Health, Winter Park, is a big hospital with a lot of ER docs and nurses. My last hospital…read moretrip this week, I got to see Dr. Mills, the Senior ER Resident who saved my life on the night of April 9th, as I went in with septic shock vs severe sepsis, the latter I had three times in the last three years. I reminded Dr. Mills of his accomplishment this past Tuesday night. He didn't remember and was very busy with other patients. Hours later, as the ER had a moment of respite, Dr. Mills took time to review his April 9th notes and remembered me as someone he believed would depart from this earth when he sent me upstairs on the night of the April night discussed. He came into my room Tuesday night, before sending me upstairs for admission, gave me a fist bump, and thanked me for reminding him of why he's an ER Resident. For those who don't know about Septic Shock, most die. Those who don't die, often have arms, legs, or all amputated, and somehow, Dr. Mills and his team prevented all of the aforementioned nightmare scenarios.

I spent two nights at Adventhealth prior to my delivery and all the staff were personable and caring. During my stay while giving birth I was there for 3 nights. The staff were wonderful again and kept me well informed of what was going on. I felt very in control of what was happening and that it was my choice as to what path was taken for my childs birth. I ended up having a beautiful baby boy via c-section and he was delivered by the on-call doctor, not a doctor from my OB. The on call doctor put me at ease (bc i was a little freaked out!) and I felt safe in her care. The food was decent, some meals better than others and you get a daily smoothie which was a nice surprise! In the area of the hospital that I was in there was a little cafe type area that had a vending machine and some other small bites for free. It was a thoughtful touch for friends and family who were visiting to meet our new baby. Everyone thinks that Winnie Palmer is THE place to have your baby, but I personally think Advent Winter Park is really the place to be. ;)

All staff were so friendly and helpful to us during our stay in the PICU. they were constantly asking how they could help and if we needed anything, often coming up with resolutions when we didn't even ask for them. One of the nurses brought my baby toys once he was able to play and brought me coffee whenever I asked. This was a terrible situation but i'm so thankful for the staff in the PICU and our last day in the CICU that made our stay better. On a side note: the pharmacy in the main area of the hospital next to the gift shop is a great spot for restocking your medicine cabinet. You can get staple meds like daytime cold meds, allergy meds, tylenol, etc for just a few dollars. I got daytime cold meds for like $3! I also bought childrens ibuprofen, like a big bottle, for under $3. This is a hidden secret that needs to be spread!

Well, after Mexico City clinic took X-rays and told me a fractured my shoulder and need a surgery, I immediately took a flight the next day back to Orlando to go to ER and hopefully get some healing. My dad and I went to the ER after I landed, and it was crowded on a Thursday evening. We valet parked near the entrance, went through the Evolv security detector, and checked in to wait. We first were called to get send basic checks done and I explained what happened. Then the said to wait in the waiting area where they will call my name so I could go to a room. It took a while for my name to get called and I was pulled to a very small room with 2 cramped chairs. We waited for a doctor, and I explained the situation. He said more images needed to be done, even though we have given images from Mexico City. After another wait, I was wheeled in to the imaging room, took more X-rays, and wheeled back to the room. My dad and I waited longer, and it was getting late, so my dad grabbed food from the cafeteria. The doctor came back to verify that I did fracture my shoulder, and even my ribs (not again). They said come back next week to check if surgery is needed. They prescribed me medicine and I was gone. It took almost 3 hours and 2000 dollars just for them to say, yeah, you broke your bones, and come back again for next steps. While my dad was happy that they said lets see if you really need surgery, the process felt like a cartoon from Rocco's Modern Life. It felt crowded and cramped, like an assembly line instead of the care and comfort needed. While the doctors were fine, the person who did the X-ray was in training. Also, it looked like the doctors were just direct and didn't really care on what procedures could be done to heal faster other than a wait and see approach. They were acting rushed and nonchalant. I left the hospital depressed as I didn't know how I could get healed correctly and quickly. It was night and day compared to another ER I went in Tampa about 10 years ago, where they MRI me in nice room, and let me rest a bit before releasing me. I thought with Advent health, it would have been a bit more relaxed and professional. And what's with the security guards having tasers? Honestly, I was very disappointed and wished my insurance had other better hospitals and ERs in the network other than Advent Health. While many other Advent Health campuses look modern and upscale, this one looked old and chaotic. Overall: D

I signed a paper that said if my insurance company doesn't pay for my hernia repair then I would have to pay $345 also there is a $650 charge if as a prepay patient I have to stay overnight. Ok... I wake up to find out I did NOT go home but instead the HOSPITAL OVERSOSED ME with too much medicine and they decided I should stay for their over-sedation mistake. I even had a hospital representative come ask me for the $200 balance owed as I was trying to recover. Anyway, I went home and less than 3 weeks later I see that my insurance was billed for my stay and they paid over $40K. WHAT what what?????!!! AND the hospital is billing ME the deductible coinsurance of $2650... I never sued them, I just want my money back and them to cover their mistake and write off the $2650. I have waited patiently for 60 days or 2 full months while my account from May 28th is under review from their insurance department. Only to find out today that NEVER happened and the supervisors are saying according to their notes the charges are valid. You make a $40000. mistake that would have only cost me $650 of which because it was YOUR mistake I would not have had to pay anyway? One supervisor told me that once they billed the insurance company and got paid my self pay status of getting a discount was null. If that's the case do what the anesthesiologist did and REFUND my money!!! What a racket and terrible business practice this hospital is running. Now I will wait another 45 days while you keep collecting countless insurance payments and never calling me back with the status. Stay away if you need your money and have a choice to go elsewhere. I feel VERY very cheated even though the doctor took responsibility, the hospital thinks it's okay to do wrong and make the patient keep paying! Ridiculous....

I called doctor's office. The doctor says he will not write 90 days or 30 days refill until he checks my physical. The clinic is stuck up, making totally irrelevant excuses to write meds refill or for 90 days. In order to further establish state of my physical, doctor went ahead with my blood test. I also requested to check if I am allergic to any unknown allergy. Besides, The unqualified staff who don't know how to read blood pressure. The pressure was so high, the nurse practitioner refused to order my medication I am using for almost 20 years. Two days after, doctor on duty on Sunday calls asking "IF I AM DOING OK?" I was surprised. I went curious asking why what you find? Doctor says, my "SUGAR IS SO LOW" he wanted to make sure I am ok. I said something is wrong with your test. My sugar isn't as low as might think. I am absolutely active, working, going to gym. He said, there should be something wrong in test. He asked if anything went wrong while they drawing the blood? I said, the nurse named Deborah could find my vein. So she went ahead ask 3rd nurse to draw the blood. That's all. He orders 2nd blood drawn. I went today for another blood draw. 4th nurse came to draw the blood. He instigated if I get bruises a lot. I said, yes depending on how much you dig in my body. He takes my blood, then leaves all near by me, goes out to check if I have follow up appointment for test result discussions. I requested again, to write refill plus 90 days supply for my pain medicines. The receptionist said, she will send in message forward. They will call. Nurse named Deborah called, started crying for the same. They will not order another refill or 90 days supply. I said, you are not making any sense. She Says, my blood pressure was too high. It seemed like the doctors office practicing unethical behavior to cash on new patience. Moreover I am above 60 so I am a target of their atrocious pattern of behavior. I restrict anyone visiting FMA Facility located in Winter Spring, Florida. These center is milking patience not helping or do not know how to treat their Patience. Beware! Do not go there.

Two days before the procedure they call me that they changed the time. I told them I purposely planned this way ahead to plan and the person giving me a ride would not be available at this new time. I found out there was a free valet for patients however, I had valuables in the car so I decided to go to the Self Park, which meant I was an extra 15 minutes late because there was traffic and it went up slowly. The digestive center was amazing, it was very modern and beautiful, clean and all staff was friendly and quick. The whole experience for the surgery part was amazing. Doctor Bang was really amazing and kind. All staff were excellent, I would ring the bell and two seconds later someone was already there to help. after the surgery, there were some small complications so instead of going home, I was brought up to a room. From here on the experience was not that great. I asked the assigned nurse for water and juice which she never brought, and I never saw her again until transitioning shift to the next nurse. I ended up calling and the head nurse was very kind and brought me something to drink finally. When I was out of water, I had to call again because I had not seen anyone in a long time and staff had come to pick up a food tray which I never received. They finally showed up with a dinner plate at 6:30pm. I am on a liquid diet, so I was very happy and hungry even it was not a food plate. It had a popsicle, Jell-O, juice, tea, and broth. I was so hungry I ended up going down to the cafeteria and buy a meal. I had denied an IV fluid as I can drink through my mouth however they refused to remove the port which I understand is protocol. They have some really good doctors that are trying their best with an unusual situation. Orlando Health is part of my kids medical network because their partner works at Disney. If you coming through the emergency room, they have free valet parking during the day at least. We used it on our first emergency visit, but they were gone by the time we left and I had to get my own car from the valet lot. Security was quite helpful though. On this last visit, we were there before the valet arrived, but I was allowed to park in that lot as it is the closest to the ER. Once they were checked in, I had to figure out where the main entrance was and parking. Once I found it, I recognized things and was able to get into the C Lot which is for visitors and the front and valet uses it. On this side, the valet charges you to park. It is a healthy walk from the garage to the entrance, but no match for the amount of walking that you do inside this building that just feels like it goes on forever. My kid has some dietary issues and they've gone above and beyond to make sure that they get meals that are avoiding cross-contamination. Everyone's been really nice so far.
