Was passing through Yakima and wanted to grab a growler of beer. After some simple Google search, found Hop Capitol Brewing that had 4 good sour beers that kindled my interest. Now, I'm unclear whether Hop Capitol is the new brewery where previously Yakima Craft Brewing was or if a new name or they are both the same. Sampled their sours and was immediately captivated by their guava sour. Guava, a tropical fruit has a mellow sweet and fragrant taste, balances the sour very well. Took back a growler of that and enjoyed it the next day in the historic 100F weather in Seattle. Great brewery and recommended! read more

This place is absolute gold! Located down off River Road, it's close to the freeway and an easy place to get in and out of. It's a relatively plain looking building from the outside, but inside is quite impressive! Upon entering, you'll be struck by how much space there is in here. Whether you're meeting with a group of 2 or 30, there's lots of room to spread out. Tons of stuff to do - darts, ping pong, Foosball, cornhole, arcade games, beer, did I mention beer! Tons of options including their stuff, tons of other local options, ciders and a few pops for those who like to hang out, but don't love them hops. They have a few food options - we just opted for pretzels and they were pretzelly as expected! The folks working here are super chill and the beer is priced like you'd expect it. If you love $7 Pabst, this isn't your spot. If you love beer culture and creativity going into your brew, this is a place you need to check out! read more

My husband and I have both been to the old tasting room several times and although the space was cramped, the beer has always been good. We've been looking forward to checking out the new space. Came in tonight with a group of co-workers. First impression was that it was a big improvement with lots of room and fun stuff to do (ping pong, cornhole, foosball). My husband ordered an Experimental Hazy IPA and it was terrible. He's liked other hazy IPAs, but this was so bad and "off" tasting, he was surprised they had it on tap. I took the nearly-full pint back up to the bar and told them it was so bad we couldn't drink it and ordered another beer. The other beers were good, but we were definitely charged for all of them, including the Hazy IPA the bartender poured down the drain. Most importantly, AVOID THE FOOD! We ordered a "Dozen Boneless Chicken Wings" and chose the honey BBQ sauce for $15. We received 12 chicken nuggets dunked in grocery store BBQ sauce. Our entire group laughed (see picture). The rest of the food was on the expensive side as well, but it was fine. The "boneless chicken wings" were offensive and they should be embarrassed for serving them at the prices they are charging! read more

After a day of cross-country skiing on the minimal snow up on White Pass, I came down the hill and planned to fill up my growler at Yakima Craft Brewing Co. I thought they might be closed since it was about 7pm, but when I called they were open till 10. I was further surprised to see they had a new place to sample their brews: the Taproom! Yup, in the industrial building their brewery is held up in, they have now converted a nice & cozy space into a cool pub-like area. The Taproom has a handful of tables, a small bar, and they serve a small menu of food. So, my idea of a quick growler fill-up turned into a more major pitstop of trying a sampler (it's my duty), ordering some tots, watchin' some X-Games, chatting with the nice server, listening to some KEXP (yes! they stream KEXP in here!!), and THEN filling up my growler. They have (5) regular brews on tap, and Bad Monkey (dark Belgian ale) & Good Monkey (light Belgian ale) as their seasonals. I found all of their brews decent. It was hard to decide which one to fill my growler up with at first, but after a while Vern became my clear favorite: it's ultra-hoppy taste sang to me. I went here on the way to the Sasquatch Festival as my friend knew some of the people who worked there. So glad we stopped by! Their taproom is massive. I love that they have all kinds of beer from other breweries and a wide variety. Noah's Arcade was the best. A hazy pale ale that I could drink all summer if I lived around here. They brought everything home with how great the branding is. Fresh, edgy and puts them apart from other breweries I saw. They've given so much thought to how the glasses look and how the brand translates. They also have pint glasses they fill from the bottom. Clever! read more

It was a busy night when we went to Yakima Craft Brewing Company. The small tap room was loaded with people(or people loaded ;-)) and the crowd spilled outside onto the patio. Steve and I were lucky when we got there and caught a couple of seats outside on the fine, sunny day we went. The place brought in your typical brewery drinkers and someone always has to bring a friendly and adorable dog to coddle. This was such the case here and made the experience fun. The brewery had two IPAs on tap and I got the more intense one. It was extremely bitter. Not terribly textured in flavor, just bitter. That is ok. I asked for it. Steve got a pretty decent Pale Ale which I liked better. It had a good aftertaste to it. Yakima Craft Brewing was not a bad experience but I am a beer snob to the extreme and questioned if I really got what I was looking for here. A buzz? Yes. Experimental beer in regards to ingredients? I stopped in at the YCB tasting room to fill a couple of growlers to take back home to the hubster on a recent mom-and-kids trip through eastern Washington. Their location isn't easy to find (it's kinda tucked away - thank you Google Maps for helping), but once we found it there was plenty of parking and no wait to get the growlers filled. The tasting room itself is small and full of locals; if I wasn't on the road it would have been fun to stay and have a pint. I left with two "pill bottle" growlers (one with their yummy coffee porter, and the other with their signature IPA) and a couple of 12-oz. cans of their Amber (which I happily enjoyed when I finally arrived home the next day. I would definitely say this is a must-stop on your beer (or even your wine) trip to Yakima, and is worth the extra effort to find the place. read more

5 Stars and let me tell you why. When you come to a craft brewery, I think you should judge them on how they do as a craft brewery, these folks do an excellent job! Is it a hole in the wall - yes. Do they have a grill that will knock your socks off - no. Do they have great locally crafted beer - YES! So Doug R. - I don't believe a limited menu holds them back from being 5 stars. The beer and the vibe is enough for me (God bless Bert and his traditions). So Jason T.- hoping the beer would be better... Not everything will compare well once you've decided that Keystone Ice is your thing. No worries. This beer is a local brew you can be proud of. I like little quiet places like this that are well off the beaten path. Service is appropriately well versed in brew talk & you can get good snacks. I had 2-10oz glasses of good monkey & it was well deserved after my first 20 mile bike ride of the year. I went here for the beer (as a tourist) and was not disappointed. I am a big IPA fan and I liked all of the beers that I had. They only serve snacks, we got the cheese and meat plate which was good but they didn't have any bread/crackers which was lame. My only complaint was the service, the waitress was clearly not pleased to be there, didn't warn us about said lack of bread and at one point left the bar for nearly 10 minutes. I would totally recommend this place, it's cute and the beer was great! read more

It may seem I give out a lot of five stars but if I'm happy and would go back, that's what I give. Yakima Craft Brewing Company did not disappoint. They had 23 options on tap to choose from, let us sample to ensure we got what we wanted, and the wait staff was very friendly. The live music was awesome, they did a great job of some classic rock, they have foozeball, darts, corn hole, and other fun games which are free to play! A large, open space, no crowded feeling. I was really hoping the beer would be better. It's nice to have a local brew that you can be proud to drink. We got the beer sampler. Nothing really stood out. Most were marginal, a few were downright bad, but the 1982 has been good elsewhere. Maybe they just don't have the QA/consistency thing down yet. Do not go there to eat. If it doesn't come in a package from the grocer's freezer, they don't make it. Maybe the sausage is ok, but nothing really made us want to eat. It's a nice, quaint space, but wasn't friendly enough to justify becoming a regular until the beers get better. read more

I lived in Yakima for a few months back in 2013. I had just moved from Bend OR and had become a bit snobbish about my craft brew. When I discovered Yakima Craft Brewing I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of the beer. The best thing was being able to bring my 10 year old Son with me to share a Root Beer with him. I have since moved to Lynnwood WA and have not been back to visit Yakima Craft Brewing Co. Although, it will be on my spots to visit when I do get back over there. Met friends here on a Thursday evening. Nice large space compared to the previous tap room. More beers on tap, and games to enjoy. Waited in line with 9 others to order drinks for our table. No table service and only one person at a time working the bar. We saw three different people working the bar, but only one at a time. They have a lot going for them, but they will need to figure out the customer service aspect of it if they are to have a sustainable business. read more

As always, great beer. My fave is the Pale Ale. When I'm in town, a growler is great to bring back to the family. They don't serve food here. Just pretzels and nuts. From Pittsburgh, PA, I visited Yakima, Washington to visit a couple friends. While there, we visited Yakima Craft Brewery. I was impressed with both the staff and the beer! Stopped in after striking out at the bottle shoppe. A real small place and hard to find, it is in the back of an industrial building behind a cleaners. Went in through the yet to open tasting, a must check out once they open. The CEO was loading kegs and the head brewer was reserved. The woman helping us we friendly enough. Got three beers and t-shirt. The shirt is nice. Unfortunately the beers were not carbonated at all... The scotch was terrible, sort of stale flat cold coffee thing going not true to the style at all. I'm giving them more stars than the deserve because I have had thier beers on tap an they were good. read more

Love Yakima Craft Brewing! The beer is excellent, selection awesome, service phenomenal. The tasting room in the brewery is a cute, hole-in-the-wall with primary focus on beer. Nothing fancy, but the beer is awesome and local! If you need food with your beer, they just opened a tasting room in downtown Yakima with a small but diverse menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service by Sam was awesome! We spent a lot of time picking her brain about for recommendations on beer, food, kegs, yakima in general, etc. She was personable, knowledgeable, and patient. Love this place.
