One star is being gracious. Asian male sales associate working downstairs ruined the experience. (Purchased last summer but never wrote a review. A friend asked me about my purse when they saw it in my closet the other day, that's when I realized I should have written a review.) Went in 45 minutes before they closed to purchase the Classic Silver City Handbag in Black. A week prior to this I tried to purchase the purse at Saks but they didn't have it in stock. I ubered into Manhattan from Westchester to purchase this bag and was so excited to finally buy it! I went downstairs and pointed to the version of it in silver and asked a sales associate if they had it in stock with the hardware and color I wanted. He told me they didn't, which came as a surprise to me considering my request was for a very basic color, Black. I talked to him about the various leather types they had then asked again if they had the purse since I had driven for an hour just to purchase it. Keep in mind I'm a young 23 year old asian female and I was dressed reasonably - in cropped flared jeans, sandals and a white lace top. However he quickly and confidently said they didn't have it, without even checking in the back. Finally, ten minutes before closing and after looking around I headed upstairs and was going to meet my mother for dinner. Turns out she was nearby so popped in to meet me. Upon seeing my mom upstairs, on the first floor, I told her they didn't have the purse I wanted and how sad I was. Another sales associate overheard this and asked which purse I was looking for. I told her and she told me that they definitely had it! She was extremely nice and said this all while smiling suggesting I go back downstairs and ask someone. Confused, I went downstairs and asked again, telling the same Asian male sales associate that someone upstairs said that they had it in stock. My mother came downstairs after a quick walk through and asked him to check. THEN he came out with the purse, explaining how they must have just got it in and how this was the last one so he must have missed it. I asked if they had another version of it I could look at. He said they didn't. I then asked if they had another version even in any other color solely so I could look at the smaller sized grain option. Another sales associate heard him tell me they didn't and suggested that the first sales associate check again. When the sales associate was checking, the other associate working the floor told me not to worry because he knew they had more in the back.The sales associate went to check and miraculously found another bag. I ended up purchasing the bag but the whole experience was made sour due to the way this sales associate treated me. He proceeded to check me out inquiring why I was purchasing the bag and whether it was my birthday, to which I replied, "just for life?" then felt bad and went on to tell him how practical it is since it's a crossbody, which was why I was purchasing it. I'd like to say I'm happy to have my purse but it's been a year and I've only used it once. Which is actually just my own fault for not loving the style. BUT what I feel is worse is the way this sales associate did not bother to assist me and the conceited attitude that he gave off. Also, I find it hysterical how they went from not having any of the purses in stock, to having "a final one" once my mother arrived, then having two after someone else pointed out they definitely had more in the stock room. For me, the act of purchasing an item I've been eyeing is something I look forward to. I love to go in and feel the item in person and normally I ask for a new one- one that wasn't the display item. Although in this case, the purse I initially didn't want to purchase wasn't on display, the grain was different so I asked to see another version. That request doesn't seem that crazy to me. Unfortunately, this horrible experience took away from my happiness of finally obtaining the bag I'd been coveting. I will say that the women who was working upstairs and overheard me as well as the other male sales associate downstairs I briefly spoke to were extremely sweet, kind and helpful! However, the one sales associate who I worked with definitely made me not want to buy from this location and brand again. read more

I will NEVER buy anything from Balenciaga again! Their customer service is DISGUSTING! I purchased a pair of Speed Trainers two weeks ago at the NYC store on Mercer Street. After wearing them out ONE TIME to a Fashion Week event, I found that the sneakers were tight on me. I tried the shoes on in the store, and they felt fine. However, sometimes, you don't know how a shoe will truly fit until you wear them out and really move around. I went back to Balenciaga and spoke with an associate about changing them for a bigger size. She told me I couldn't change them because they were worn ONCE. These sneakers are BRAND NEW! There are some very minor marks on the sole of the sneakers because the sole touches the floor when you walk, OBVIOUSLY! But every part of the shoe -- that you can see -- is PERFECT. I even cleaned the shoes before I brought them back, even though they weren't dirty. I asked to speak to a manager (her name was "Joyce"), and she REFUSED to be flexible with their policy. I explained that these sneakers cost me $850, and if I can't get them in my actual size, all my money is GONE. I'm SURE she could have helped me in the name of CUSTOMER SERVICE?! I can't possibly be the only person to bring shoes back after wearing them and finding they aren't comfortable or don't fit. She said she would send my request up the chain of command and get back to me, that afternoon or the next day, to let me know if I could exchange the shoes. NO ONE FOLLOWED UP WITH ME! I called the store on a different day and asked to speak with a manager regarding my situation. I spoke with another manager ("Shanequa," or something like that), and she told me that she is aware of my situation. She said she would get back to me, "tomorrow morning, the latest," and let me know if they will exchange the sizes for me. I HAVE STILL NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE. For a company with such high end merchandise, they sure don't treat their customers with the courtesy and appreciation that they should. I am telling anyone who will listen, including my contacts in the fashion world NOT to support this brand. They overcharge you for mediocre merchandise, and after the sale is complete, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CONCERNS! This was extremely disappointing and a big loss for Balenciaga, as I am a huge collector of high fashion pieces, and an influencer. Thanks for nothing! read more

About a 1-1.5: This Balenciaga store seemed to be recently added to the SoHo neighborhood, located across the street from its Balenciaga for women counterpart. The space is definitely smaller and limited in selection - more than the usual department stores, but the usual limited in quantity in terms of being a store for men. I was a little disappointed as there really didn't seem to be much color, as most of the items (shoes, handbag accessories, wallet accessories, ready-to-wear clothing, etc.) were all either gray or black! Nevertheless, some of the sweaters that were on sale were quite nice as well as some of their shoes and big handbags for men. However, there was a male SA in the back who kept trailing behind us, which I am just not a fan of - even perusing seemed to be of an annoyance to him as whenever I looked at a sweater, he would swoop right in to make sure that the hangers are a certain distance apart :( I myself am actually quite courteous to make sure that all the items that I check out are always back in their rightful places, so I am not sure what his deal was. Either way, we left after a few minutes and went across the street to Balenciaga for women to check out their bags - definitely a better and an attentive service there, but it was disappointing as there was one particular sweater that looked pretty nice. Ana was so sweet, I picked out a belt but when I took it home I realized that I wanted to go a size down so I came back to do an exchange but she didn't have the size. However she suggested maybe punching another hole to help make it fit but silly me I tried it on again and the last hole was actually perfect so I decided to keep it. She did, however, offer to try and locate the smaller size for me, which was very nice. I'm very happy with the service and was actually surprised at how friendly she was. read more

On holiday from the UK i was paying a special visit to the Balenciaga store to perchance some Race Runners while i was away. Looking around not finding the ones i wanted, I was approached by Ian who was FANTASTIC! The trainers were so much cheaper in the UK but not knowing what size i would take Ian still helped me getting me sizes from the back even though knowing i wasn't going to make a perchance in the store. Ian brought out all the styles in my size and brought out some that i just had to have! while serving me Ian was chatting and asking me questions being very attentive polite and showed a real interest he is a credit to Balenciaga. I will be returning next year and will be only asking for Ian. Hope you make your trip to the UK and Paris too read more

One of the historic Paris fashion houses (for women). Now has a lovely men's line and the a/w 2015-6 runway looks great. However, there was almost nothing in this tiny shop and the boys behind the counter spent all their time talking to each other about how their personal trainer helped them get their gluts in shape. read more
