Free People is a funky clothing brand. This store has always been one of my favorites. I enjoy shopping in midtown. I can't speak for the fitting rooms because this jacket was easily worn over my clothes. Free People denim quality is is excellent and lasts forever. My issue with some of the designs involves sleeve length and the cut. I love double breasted and denim but never used this jacket. The armpits hang too low and the sleeves are very long. What was I thinking paying $75! I was going to put it in the coat drive but thought I would ask my daughter if she wanted it first. She wears her clothes tighter than I do. I prefer loose fitting and comfortable these days. As for the sleeves she sews so she may shorten them or roll them up. I've aged out of the Free People style. I do want to recommend this location if you like a trendy style. AND have the body that accommodates their fit. read more

It's so rare that I shop in person these days. But I was on my way to get something for my daughter at the Jellycat Diner inside of FAO Schwarz across the street and decided to stop in to Free People see if they had a couple of items I'd looked at online and wanted to see in person. The salesperson was super helpful, checking in the back for me, knowing exactly what I wanted, and bringing me out one of every color in the bag I was after. I was so impressed with her knowledge and effort. When she checked me out a few minutes later she also gave me some details about the second item I was after (they didn't have the color I wanted in store) telling me that she and all of her colleagues owned this particular carryall and that it had held up well with daily use. Wow NYC is so lucky to have a flagship store like this... makes sense I know, it is NYC. But wow! This place is huge- and the staff were so nice- Jackie and Saana were so helpful, I wish they were here in my store! They made buying fun. I went in for one item and next thing I knew I was leaving (rather shipping!) multiple items. The selection far outreaches any FP I have ever been to, and the offering of brining booties to try on to complete the outfit- that's something I would have expected from a high end department store. I heard this was one of their better stores in the city. Located down the street from Rockefeller Center. We walked into the the most chic and well stocked Free People Store. Some interior decorator did an awesome job on the design and seasonal flair. The selection was large and upscale casual but so freakin adorable! It was hard not to fall in love with so many of their clothes and boots. Best selection I have seen in any of their stores or stores carrying their merchandise. Too cute everything!!! I noticed they had a full range of their sizes in stock also. I wanted like 5 pairs of their boots alone. Just too cute! Great place to spoil yourself ladies! The sales associates are so pleasant but not pushy. If you like Free People clothes you'll absolutely love this store. read more

I came in earlier today and each time I visit this location the customer service is off. I purchased tons of accessories and this lady asks me if I need a bag. Like first of all why wouldn't I? Low key disrespectful to me as a paying customer. She then has the rude smirk on her face as I left the store. Came in earlier today. The clothes are always beautiful but they really need to get customer service training and add some diversity because the cashiers walking around like they run the shit. read more

This is the best Free People location in the city. Its HUGE, they have Home, Shoes, Sale, Movement, Intimates, and all other departments available. The salespeople are super friendly and nice, and its actually usually not crowded (I think because most tourists aren't interested in free people?...Look for bouchon bakery, its right next door). read more

It was a jolly and holly time Christmas shopping... for myself here! FP is my favorite store and Colin probably he wished he didn't see freepeople.com every so often on our CC statement... but me either! I'd much rather shop in person ;) This is the mega ship compared to any other store I've been to of this brand. Not only is it filled with beautiful and funky clothes and accessories, but it's enormous and easy to walk around in. You'll find dressing rooms and a great sale section upstairs. There's also a beauty, intimates, and tech accessories section unlike most other locations. Prices can be steep, but why not at least play dress up while in NYC? read more

holy guacamole! the workers here are sooo incredibly nice. They are all so smiley and kind. The employees helped me set up a fitting room while I was still shopping, and they were so friendly when I went to try on clothing. The set up of this store is absolutely beautiful! WARNING: CANCER?!??! I picked out the Slouchy Vegan Tote for the holidays as a gift from your store. I had been using it for the last week, when I received a compliment on it. I directed my friend to your website so she could purchase the tote. We were shocked and disappointed to see that there was a WARNING in the description: "This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer or birth defects or reproductive harm." I was upset that a responsible company such as Free People would carry such a product. I saw NO warning sign/label on the bag or in the store, otherwise I would've never gotten this tote bag! I disposed of the tote today out of both fear and utter repulsion. Sadly, Free People has lost a loyal and longtime customer. :( read more

Love the store itself, but the customer service and policies used by Free People itself need to be seriously improved. I tried on a pair of shoes during their summer sale that were on sale for $20 (originally $40) but they didn't have the right color in the size. I decided to order them online through the store and have them shipped to me for free. I waited the standard 2 weeks, but my shoes were never delivered and no one ever reached out to me to inform me of any problem. Eventually I reached out to them. Long story short - the girl entered my address incorrectly. I asked multiple times for her to please make sure that she included the Floor number in my address, but it was apparently left out. I reached out to Free People and gave them the correct information at which point the shoes were sent back so that they could be reshipped. I could expect them to reach me in another 2 weeks. Another week and a half passes and I get an email saying my order was canceled due to the shoes being out of stock. I check online and the shoes are still available in the right color and size. I reach out to free people again and they basically just shrug and say once the orders canceled there's nothing they can do about it. They said I could reorder the shoes online, but the shoes were now back up to the original $40 price. As a constellation they offered me free shipping. Talk about inconvenient. Do better. I will never order online through the store ever again. Not to mention, this has totally made me look at the company differently. read more

One of the best shopping experiences I've had for sure! They had a huge sale section and spacious fitting room. Two employees (I believe their names were Morgan and Gracie) were super helpful as I was shopping alone and they adjusted garments for me and gave me honest opinions. They also took items off my hand, before I was done shopping around, started a fitting room for me and when I still wanted to poke around the sent the items I knew I was getting down to the check out area so I wouldn't have to carry them around. The clothing was nicely wrapped and when the cashier found out I was traveling she gave me the larger carrier bag. I'll be sure to stop again next time I'm in NYC! read more

Visited this store twice during my five day NYC vacay. We got to the Top of the Rock ticket machine around 2pm and got tickets for 5:45pm...and so we spent a good two hours at Free People. Everything in there is cute. This location is bigger than the one in SoHo. They have shoes here. And they also have a hanging extension cord under the stairs to recharge your iPhones. Hope you brought your USB cables and adaptors with you. read more

Yes, the clothes and accessories are just too cute -- but more importantly, the women who work here are charming, stylish, friendly and give me honest feedback and excellent tips when I ask how I look in whatever I try on. I love Free People clothes and have been wearing them for years. Wondering around Rock Center before a Broadway show, I saw the unmistakeable colorful over-sized sweaters and scarves that defines the brand in the window display. Within seconds, I am in the fitting room (upstairs) trying out different piece. The store was completely empty for a Friday night and the space is huge! The staff was so helpful and friendly. I'm a big fan of Free People clothing and had a good experience in this store however I felt like everything was a bit scattered. Perhaps because it's a larger store than others. I ended up buying something, of course, and was greeted with great service at the register although not much assistance was offered on the floor but I think the staff was busy trying to put the store back in order from the long day. Overall, I'm glad I stepped in but would much rather shop online as I usually do. :) Oh and to note, there is only street parking just like every other store else in Manhattan. read more

We were invisible.. One of the main reasons we took the day to shop was for Kate Spade on 5th and Free People. Kate Spade was amazing, wish I could say the same for Free People. It felt as though we were interrupting a private Free People Staff Party. With all the high-fiving going on between the girls who worked there and their conversations about how hot it was in the store (yesterday was 80), and why the air wasn't on, we were forced to politely interrupt their conversation to ask for assistance with trying a shoe on. My favorite shop is now a two level at the Rockefeller Center in NYC. I guess it's been that long since I've visited this part of city. When the heck did they open?! Very dangerous and deadly to my wallet especially since their older sister store, Anthropologie is just right across the street :) The sales associates were all very helpful and friendly. Store was clean and boho chic. This location seemed to have most everything on their online site on deck. More variety and shoes available here as well. read more

This location always has the best selection in everything from accessories to dresses! They have great shows too!! The layout is also really great and spacious, it doesn't feel like the other locations where you are bombarded with amazing clothes everywhere you turn! I absolutely adore the clothing at Free People, but of course, their clothing is ridiculously expensive (but to me, totally worth it). I was more than happy when I heard that they were opening a new Free People location in Rock Plaza as there are no FP stores in the Midtown area. For folks who work in Midtown, it's a huge plus to have accessibility to this store. The only other location I am aware of is in the SoHo area. I usually buy the FP clothing online, however, and I think I will continue to do so. For one, the store itself is nice, but it is quite small and the layout needs some more thought put into it. The store itself just lacks a sense of organization. I came here one day to exchange the size of a pair of jeans that I got online, and I was hoping that the store would carry it. I ask the sales lady, who was friendly and approachable, that I was looking for this particular jean in the short length. She told me that they don't carry the different length jeans and only the regular. They barely had enough sizing as is; there were mostly the larger sizes or the really small sizes. I was more than disappointed about this though. The selection in this store is far less inferior than to what you'll find online. All in all, this is a decent FP store to visit if you just want to browse the sales rack or aren't looking for anything in particular. read more
