The service department is a nightmare to deal with. I waited about a month for parts for my radio. No one knew if they came in. I was also lied to about coverage for oil changes and made to think I was given a complimentary one when it was covered by an additional policy. As an attempt to make a wrong situation right, I was offered an interior detail and a rental while my radio was fixed. The rental had been smoked in and I waited about an hour to get it. Even after speaking to Bill, the service department manager a couple times about my service and the rental. He said they may need my car for four days, but it seems he wasn't considering my scheduled repair a priority. The number they texted me promising to share updates belonged to an associate who was out of the office that day so any updates I requested were left unanswered. When I purchased the car we bought an extra policy to cover paint and they have yet to tell me where to bring the car for that coverage. It's been nearly two months now. Between being lied to, the up charges, lack of communication, I wouldn't take my car in for service again. They don't respect you or your time. read more

They charged me almost 2,600.00 to work on my vehicle and in 6 months the car never ran correct again. I took my vehicle back for the same problem 5 times after the guaranteed me that if I had that 2,600.00 work would of fixed. Now my car needs 2500.00 of new work on it coincidence? DONT GO HERE. FIRST- sold me a car that they failed to tell me had many issues and was previously owned by someone who must have been a chain smoker. They covered the smell and didn't mention it once -- a month later when their cover up air freshener went away-- can't even drive anywhere without feeling light headed and it's impossible to get rid of the smell. SECOND- Good luck getting a hold of anyone who knows anything in the service department. They supposedly ordered me tired 4 months ago but every time I call, nobody can help me and they transfer me from person to person until I get an answering machine-- I leave a message and NEVER hear back from anyone. I've called and done this process 7 different times over the course of the last few months and even went there and was told someone would be in contact with me. Since purchasing what seemed like a great car I have had to get it fixed 8 times over the year of owning it and basically always need to drive with my windows open because of the horrible smell. PS- did I mention the gross residue of the cigarettes that began seeping out of the vents after a few months too. read more

I brought my VW in for an oil change. For the most part, this is a pretty straight forward procedure, especially for a VW Dealership. When I picked my car up, I went home. The following day, I went to work. When I left work, I noticed a huge puddle of oil below my car. Keep in mind, this car has never leaked anything, and we'll taken care of, so this greatly concerned me. I spoke to VW, and they were responsive and told me come drop my car off at my convenience. I did just that, and was informed shortly there after that my car was ready. I got yet another ride back, and got my car, and went home. When I got home, I opened the rear gate, and there was the belly pan to my car, covered in oil, have in a clear plastic bag, on top of some paper. This was rather disappointing, but at least they had fixed the leaking oil situation. The service dept was very apologetic, and told me that I could stop by anytime, and they would rectify the situation, and reinstall the belly pan. So I did just that this morning. When I got home from work, I crawled under said vehicle to check things out. The belly pan was zip tied to my car, no joke! At no time did anyone say anything to me about any difficulties they were having with getting the pan back on. I would have had no problem buying a new one, new bolts, whatever was needed. My overall review is that the service technicians and the service department at Balise VW is extremely disappointing, careless, and not very professional. I recommend that you take your VW to ANY OTHER SERVICE CENTER, it's do not waste the time that I have with these folks.... read more

My car has had various work done at Balise VW such as spark plug, brake pad and battery replacement as well as routine maintenance. The two customer service reps assist me are Sam and Anne. Both provided the best customer service anyone can ask for. I could go to other VW dealers for service in the local area but I drive a little further to Balise because of Sam and Anne. I feel most welcomed when there, everything is explained thoroughly, and I trust them with my vehicle and what they tell me when it comes to what my vehicle needs. What a great dealership! I had the worst experience of my life at Scott Volkswagen. They damaged my car and tried to say I had to pay 200 bucks to get it fixed. My car is a lease, but yet Scott Volkswagen didn't want to honor lease. It's actually a long story. I took my car to Balise Volkswagen and they fixed my car with no problems. Great people. I hit a pothole in NY, and the tire warning light went on when I got to the RI border. I called, and they agreed to stay late to check out the tires. They did, fixed it, and sent me on my way. I don't know how complicated it is to buy a car from out of state, but when the new VW Bus comes out I'll call Balise first. read more

In August of 2018 I took my car to Balise VW. The service manager was nice enough to take care of some work on the car and upon getting it back the paint was damaged. I pointed it out and he immediately took care of the repair. All is well. Fast forward to today and I notice rust on the panel. I knew the car was still covered under a 10 year rust warranty from VW. I brought the car down and began the process. I asked the service manager if there would be an issue because they worked on the panel. He assured me that it would be fine. A few weeks go by and no word. I reach out via email and the response I got was "they won't cover the claim because the panel had been worked on before, sorry we tried". Now I'm upset because the dealer is the one who fixed my car to begin with. And now because they damaged my car I wasn't going to be able to get my car repaired. After a back and forth with the service manager. He tells me to go to their collision center to see if they will fix it and tells me out right that he doesn't think they will. After wasting a couple of my lunch breaks only to find out the collision center doesn't have a record of me. I get VW of America involved because this isn't right. This isn't a way to treat a customer. Since then the service manager didn't return my calls and it was just me communicating with VWoA and they would communicate with the dealer. Finally they approve the claim and tell me to confirm the drop off date. I email the service manager to confirm. He reply's and proceeds to correct me about how VW didn't approve the claim and that the collision center is covering it under warranty. At this point I'm getting different stories everywhere I look. I don't care anymore. Just fix the car. Drop off day comes around and the service manager comes over to make a crude joke about how they were going to sand it down and hit with touch up paint, whatever. They give me a loaner car and a week later my car is done and ready to be picked up. I go to pick up my car today and am greeted with the pictures you see. Clearly frustrated because it's been a hellish fight to even get this far. And still they take the easy way out. Don't do any sort of quality check. So you know what? I'm done. Here's the bad review you guys clearly wanted because zero effort was made to do this right. I will not be return to Balise as a brand (VW or otherwise). read more

I leased a VW Jetta from Balise in 2014 because I needed a car and they had a lease special. I ended up buying the car after the lease ended. It lasted until this year, but due to MY OWN negligence ( not getting the timing belt , pulleys serviced etc. ) the motor ended up ruined at 150,000 miles. I feel like I could've gotten double the mileage if I hadn't slacked on that one maintenance issue. Pro tip: do ALL the scheduled maintenance and don't be an idiot like myself and your VW will last a good bit. About Balise VW: I always felt confident in their service department when I went in for service. I say that because I went to another VW dealership (won't say the name) and the service advisors were kind of rude when I went in for a service appointment, but I digress. Anyways, Balise VW has a comfortable waiting area. The service advisors there ALWAYS treated me with respect; I think their names are Al and Ann and there is another lady with blonde hair. Those are the people with whom I had interacted. They are all very professional and courteous. They will tell you what is wrong with your car and what repairs it needs. For example, I needed some work for it to pass emissions inspection one time and Balise fixed that for me. I also found out recently that you can tow the car in after hours and just fill out a slip to have them check it out. I wish I would have know that before: big plus if your car stalls on the weekend like mine did. A AAA tow truck driver told me that some dealerships will lock their gates or block the entrance which prevents towing after hours. My point is that if you have a VW I recommend Balise for service. Anyways, the only thing (and this is basic VW policy in general im not knocking not the dealership) but when you go to finance your car after finishing a lease you get hit with like a $1000-$2000 charge which kind of sucked but whatever. As far the sales department, I mean the guy that sold me the car probably doesn't even work there anymore. I will say this: they don't fudge around with getting your registration and plates taken care. That I can also say they were very good at. When I test drove the VW it felt like a Mercedes. I think the handling and the suspension is what make VW's fun to drive. The handling is very nice on a VW. It's a German car. This is service related. Would be 0 stars if allowed. Wife scheduled 30k mile service which includes an oil change. I also ask to double check a tire as I had to put a little air in a few weeks back.They say the car needs a state inspection, fine do it. Few hours later I'm told I need a new tire and they are failing my inspection. Also the car is due for brake fluid, 4WD diff fluid, and an alignment. They said due at 30k. Per VW the fluids are time based and are not due yet. Also nowhere in the maintenance schedule is an alignment. When challenged on the alignment they said the uneven tire wear was the reason. They also couldn't show me the screw they said was in my sidewall which was cause for the failed inspection and need for new tire. I took my car to a good tire shop and asked them to check my tires. We did find the small repairable leak along with a second one on another tire. They patched them up. Took the car back for the sticker. Dealer wouldn't give me the inspection sticker since they claim the patch isn't in a safe position. I know this can be a thing, but the inspection manual provides no reason to reject a tire for this. So....here is the kicker....I go to ask about why the change oil light is still on the dash....THE OIL NEVER GOT CHANGED! Us, the car, and the maintenance schedule told them to change the oil. I have a 2013 Volkswagen TDI that has a 2 year dieselgate warranty and had a check engine light for the DPF. I originally went to a different dealership in CT and was told the part was on national back order and my car couldn't be serviced until the part became available (weeks, maybe months). I called around and Balise luckily had the part in stock. Unfortunately, on my way to drop my car off to them, I lost all power on the highway. AAA had to tow my car to Balise, but when I finally arrived, I was greeted by both the service manager and a service advisor. They were friendly and attentive, immediately put me in a brand new Tiguan as a courtesy vehicle, and assured me they would let me know once my car was all set. In and out within half an hour. They were able to replace the part (plus a few more) in a few days and made sure I was well taken care of. read more

Thanks UPDATE-- I still love my vehicle but the service has not been as good as when I first reviewed. I have sent several unanswered emails in regard to my spare key I was told would be sent via FedEx. The only reason I care about the spare is because it seems like the battery on the one I have is going. It doesn't even open the truck!! Seems like once they get your money it's on to the next. My Wife and I bought a used New Beetle convertible here a few years ago. We came down from MA because they were the only dealership with a "certified" car in our price range. I say "certified" because there's not a chance in hell they certified anything. We made the mistake of getting too excited over finally finding a certified used convertible in our price range and we didn't kick the tires near enough. It was apparent on the test drive that the rotors were warped beyond help and I insisted they be replaced as part of the sale (it's apparent now, 2.5 years later, that all they did was turn them, rather than replace them, because the warp is back already). Less than a week after taking delivery, if memory serves it was actually 2 days later, a vacuum hose broke. I took the car in to a local dealership, and for $125 diagnostic fee I was told that mice had been nesting in the engine compartment and had chewed thru the hose. The estimate to fix it at the local shop was $300, plus the $125 I'd already paid them the total would be $425. I called our salesman at Balise and was told to "bring it in and we'll take care of it." So I drove down to Warwick, which is not a short trip for north of Boston, and had it fixed. They then presented me with a bill for over $600! This is taking "care of it?" After having a purposefully loud and "passionate" conversation on the sales floor, in front of other customers, about it I and they agreed to have be pay $150 or so for parts, and they'd eat the rest. I paid, left and have never been back. Other issues that we have had to have repaired, luckily all covered under the certified warranty, but all of which should have been discovered during the certified inspection that obviously never happened; at least 5 different repairs to the convertible top mechanisms. Damage to the oil pan that prevented the oil from getting changed (you mean they didn't even change the oil during this certified inspection that supposedly took place?! - This particular issue actually wasn't covered under the warranty, but VW of America agreed to cover it. 2000 estimated fix had it not been covered, thank you VW of America!). Numerous other issues with window sensors and door latches. Luckily the car as always run great, but they sold a car that was obviously never really certified, that needed at least $5000 (retail) in repairs, all of which should have been taken care of by them before it left the lot. Oh yeah, and they didn't do the rotor repair as they promised initially, they took the cheap way out, knowing I wouldn't discover it for a few years. As an aside, I've told this story to a few VW owners and even the service personnel at one of the local VW shops. A few asked me where I bought the car, and when I said Balise, they nodded with understanding. One of the service personnel actually guessed Balise without me even telling him. They seem to have a reputation for this particular style of BS. read more

Can you select NO STARS? Worst service/business management ever. Bought used 2007 Ford Explorer with 58k miles. Business manager encouraged us to buy an "extended warranty" for the transmission/power train for $2000. I specifically asked if it would cover all issues with power train, engine, transmission? Was told that we would be responsible for $100 deductible but that all would be covered. After leaving the dealership, the vehicle was losing power on the highway and sputtering. Returned to the dealership to have the vehicle looked at during their 30 day warranty. Service agent decided to give me a "lesson" in automatic transmissions. Speaking down to us, stating that what happens when the vehicle shifts. I'm 40 years old. I know what a vehicle shifting feels like. They discovered it was a heating coil issue and repaired. They never addressed the sputtering noise, because they didn't notice it. Vehicle continued to sputter. Fast forward 1 year later. We replace the radiator at Balise for $800, so we can keep the extended warranty "intact". Our personal mechanic pin pointed the sputtering noise (that continued to get worse over the year) to a manifold leak. Another $800 repair that Balise refuses to address even though it should have been covered under the initial 30 day warranty. Now the car is "slipping" and they discover a rusted axle and broken seal all part of the power train, but again our OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE AND MISLEADING extended warranty doesn't cover that either. Only covered on the front axles? On a 4X4 vehicle? Its like paying for phone service without a phone. Ann in service (the only person who actually knows what service looks like) refered us to Steve the business manager who is new to Balise. He wishes he was the business manager when we purchased because it would have been handled differently. Well, Steve, your apology does NOTHING to redeem the BRAND that you work for now. So basically, more of the same. You'll fit right in. Oh and by the way, I'm not done yet. I'm filing a formal complaint with the Attorney General's office regarding your misleading and deceitful business practices along with the BBB. Stay away. Garbage dealer with broken promises and poor service. read more

So I'm not sure about y'all, but I know that I have a love-hate relationship with car dealerships. Love leaving with a car but.... 9 out of 10 times, I hate the sales part. However, my dad and I had a great experience here. Long story short, my best friend bought a car here a week before my dad was under his own sudden pressure to buy a car, so we checked it out and used the same sales person (Jimmy B.). While this was the first stop we made on our car hunt, we didn't buy the first car we test drove, and ended up coming back a few days later (sometimes ya just gotta sleep on it!). They weren't pushy, they wanted us to be happy with our purchase, and were cool about us coming back. Our transaction was smooth, hassle free, and most importantly my dad is still happy with his "new to me" car! read more

Purchased a car from them back in April. Process as far as the sale was smooth, the annoying problems came after the fact. First of all, they offered to drop off my other vehicle at my apartment which was cool. Annoying that they took EVERY screw for license plates on the car and I had to go out and get new ones. Annoying that despite spending a lot of money there they didn't even call to follow up and see how everything was going. MOST annoying that I just received a letter in the mail from my finance company saying they never received notice of my change in insurance to ensure that I had full coverage. This is after I got on the computer with the woman who handles this and changed the coverages myself for her because she couldn't get through to esurance on the phone. After making me wait an hour to even see her they didn't bother sending the information to the finance company. Now I get to work it out on my own, lucky me. read more

I went in for an oil change on my 2005 Jetta. I thought $60 for a full synthetic oil change was pretty good price, I didn't see the Yelp check in deal until just now. Oh well. Even at $60, that's better than some of those quick lube places I've been to. They did the oil change and complimentary inspection in about 30 or 40 minutes even though they said about an hour. So that was nice. The service representative told me about some observations and recommendations for repair, but there was no pressure when I said the car is getting old and I don't plan on spending much on repairs. The middle aged Service dept employee with the glasses was Extremely Rude and Unhelpful for trying to resolve my problem with a vehicle that was bought from BALISE! They sold me a vehicle with 1 key with my VW and when I asked them to program a key bought from another location the employee became rude and beligerent mocking me and wanting to charge me 110 to basically say it's not going to work without even trying. Its Pathetic that they try to rip off customers like the way they do. Stay Away!!!! All in all they HAVE A God AWFUL service dept and balise company trains and employs UNPROFESSIONAL staff. I ended up going to SPEEDCRAFT VOLKSWAGON IN WAKEFIELD, RI And let me tell you the service was SUPERB!!! They resolved my issue for a reasonable price and I even ended up buying another SPARE KEY from them! I was WOWED with their Service and THEY BLOW AWAY BALISES SERVICE DEPT. Not sure why all the other reviews are so hard on Balise VW. I bought a 2009 certified Tiguan in March 2012. Since it was certified, I had no reservations in test driving the Tiguan which had 64,000 miles. Right from the test drive I hear a strange noise coming from the engine, but I thought to myself, if I like this car and buy it, I can come back to the dealer and have them take a look at it it and if there are problems, they would fix it and it would be covered. Long story short, I bought the Tiguan and a week later I brought the car in to have them check out the noise and turned out that I needed a new ENGINE! I was both happy (to get a new engine) and worrisome that if they don't put the engine in correctly, there will be much more headache and visits to the dealer. Here is where the dealer shined. Not only did they replace the engine, they also replaced the radio, bezel trim and rear cup holder. Those items were identified to be issues from the test drive and they happily replaced them with no gripes or aggravation. The engine never ran better and it's been over a year! No oil leaks to speak of. I give full credit to the attentive service staff and the master mechanic that changed my engine! Great job! The job cost over $8,000 and the certified pre-owned is the ONLY way to go when buying a used car from now on. But wait, I'm not finished... Sometime during Aug 2012 there was a week were there was alot of rain for about a week. My car developed a leak in the passenger door jam. I brought the car to the dealer and they found out that it was due to a cracked hose from the panoramic moonroof. They said that the CPO does not cover it and it will cost about $600...BUT the dealer came back and said that it's on the house! No charge! WHAT CAR DEALER OFFERS THIS?? I am amazed at the level of service that they offer to their customer. I have been back religiously to change my motor oil and no other issues with my Tiguan whatsoever. I could say that I was unlucky to have bought a car and needed an engine replaced, but I look at it where I came out on top with a brand new engine with 0 miles on a three year old car (when I bought it)! I'm not sure if another dealer would replace an engine from "just a noise" coming from the engine. Never mind putting it back together in one piece! Thank you Balise! read more

I have an incredible love-hate relationship with Balise. Buying the car they were amazing and worked with us as financing companies kept dropping me (even with a cosigner) and as we navigated trading in a car that wasn't legally mine, switching plates from the car that wasn't mine to me, and some other things so that my insurance didn't skyrocket. I had a pristine Saturn Ion that after an accident, just couldn't feel safe in, I was looking for a Rabbit, but none were to be found. Feeling that I was going to be stuck with the Saturn my parents made me pull into Balise and they promptly started weaving through the lot and found a car I couldn't pass up before a sales man could even approach us. Mike was awesome, didn't bullshit me, and wasn't mortified or unprofessional when my stepfather asked if the price was solid and when my stepfather didn't have an idea of what he wanted the price to be, he got $900 knocked off of it. Service was really good to me at first....then the warranty ended. And they never offered me a loaner and left me pretty much stranded for a week. VW sent me a survey and I hit them on it, stating VW says a loaner car is to be offered...and one wasn't. I work in fall river, which at the time was a 35 mile commute each way, no one was going to be able to drop me off and pick me up, so my mother agreed to give up her car. To me, if something can;t be fixed that day, and its a common problem just you don't have the part, you offer a rental. Other times they have treated me as good as gold including giving me a loaner when i explained there was no way for me to get necessary repairs done during the week without a loaner care. The manager, Alan took care of me. Ann is an awesome service rep too, she has gone above and beyond even when my all state was going to cover a repair. read more

I've been here a once or twice for VW recall service, but this past time has really made me very happy with Balise. While I was here getting a factory recall fixed, I asked them to look at the power window button on my driver seat side because the auto-up hasn't been working for a few months. They looked into it and determined that it would need to be replaced...which would cost me $250. My car's warranty JUST expired at the beginning of this month and if I had brought it in before then, it would only cost me the $50 deductible. I asked them if there was anything that could be done and after speaking with is manager, Rob said even though VW wouldn't cover the service, Balise would be willing to do for the $50 as a good will gesture! I am SO happy and just had to share. I will definitely continue bringing my car here for service and would recommend others do so as well. In case it helps, the service waiting lounge is comfortable, clean...and they provide Dunkin Donuts . :-P read more

PLEASE!!! If you value your time, money, or peace of mind at all do not waste it is with these people. I purchased a 2013 certified pre-owned Jetta Sportwagen from Balise about 2 years ago. The sale went perfectly, and at the time I THOUGHT I was getting a nice car for a decent price. Less than 2 months after driving off the lot I noticed a leak going into my trunk space and pooling up in the spare tire well and a rattle coming from the sunroof. They tightened a couple bolts and allegedly fixed the leak which was supposedly just a clogged drain pipe from the sunroof. A few months later I noticed the problem was persisting and getting worse so I brought it back again, and again they said they fixed it. To make a VERY long story short, between the months of December 2018 and July 2019 I had to bring my car back on 6 separate occasions and it was in their garage "under repair" for over 60 days in only 8 months, all for the same problem with the sunroof flooding my car with water. They claimed to have done multiple 8 hour water tests and could not find any leaks....my father and I took my car home that day and conducted our own test in the driveway and found exactly where the water was gushing in from in under 10 minutes. On multiple occasions they lied to me claiming repairs were made that very clearly were not, right down to a simple oil change. The interior of my car has also suffered, being taken apart and sloppily put back together multiple times. The service rep I interacted with the most was dismissive, inattentive and very condescending about my concerns. Claiming they steam cleaned and throughly dried the carpeting only to get there and find the car sitting in the lot, fogged with condensation and the carpets filthy and still wet. The service manager only seemed to want to intervene when I brought my father with me and he was forced to. The list goes on and on but my last visit really put me over the edge. My warranty is now up and the problem with the sunroof continues. When I went back a week ago they were willing to fix it still but she claimed that there was nothing they could do for me as far as temporary transportation, as I was no longer under warranty, EVEN THOUGH this is an ongoing problem that they've had multiple opportunities to fix. I work 2 jobs at over 50hrs a week and cannot be inconvenienced and without a car for an unforeseen amount of time (one repair visit once took 34 days). As I no longer have the time, patience or money to continue this fight I've been in contact with my attorney and the Attorney Generals office and hope to be protected under the lemon law. *** This review is for the Balise VW Service Department *** This place, man. THIS PLACE. Ever walk into a place where you feel instantly at home? THIS PLACE IS THAT. I walked in last week when the recent cold snap was "polar vortex-y" enough to make my side mirror fall off. (TRUE STORY.) Ron, behind the parts counter, immediately welcomed me with a warm smile, and let me share my sob story with him. (I should mention: this was just a little before they were set to close for the day. No appointment.) Not only was he totally inviting, but he even chatted me up about the VW Driver's Gear on the shelves behind him. Then, he apologized for the price of the replacement! (haha it's refreshing when an employee admits that dealership prices are ... like prices at a dealership.) To top it off, he hooked me up with a tech who could snap it in place for me, no issue (and no cost). When both Stephanie and Bobby (the service side of this deal) are charmers just like Ron, you know this place is legitimately cool. Wonderful, wonderful service: I walked out grinning ear-to-ear. If I lived here permanently, this would be the first place I'd visit to buy a new car, BECAUSE of that service department. Thanks for being awesome, guys! read more

I can not say enough about how wonderful Ann is. I purchased my car from Balise VW about a month ago. I pretty instantly started experiencing issues. Typically this would leave me frustrated and annoyed... I mean who likes buying a new car and having an issue on day 2? Thank God that Ann was my service person who I got in contact with. Not only did she share my frustration but she promised to Fix the issue and make it right... and she did just that. She happily corrected the issue, put me in a rental and waved any service fee I may have had to pay she did all this in just the kindest most understanding way. She 100 percent alone defused something that could have been a huge negative experience. Instead of being mad that I had an issue with my car after just buying it I instead felt grateful that Ann was there to help me and I didn't doubt her for one second. No ask of mine was too great for Ann. She was happy to fit me in for an appointment at any time. She has was so wonderful to workWith and I hope Balise knows how fortunate they are to have her. Just recently bought a brand new VW CC from them with my wife. We had some issues with our trade and they treated us wonderfully. They didn't have exactly what we wanted there but they went and got it. While we waited they gave us a loaner car so we didn't have to worry about the issues from our trade. Moved to RI last week. Received our 2015 TSI from the shipper and the engine light came on. Immediately drove to the local dealer believing we should start a relationship. We are also in need of another car. Service group sent us away saying we did not have an appointment and it would be 10 days. Drive to Tilden in NK who was also busy but took 10 min to check the problem on the computer (confirming we would not harm the engine by driving it). We will get the car repaired there. Surprised Balise did not take this approach. Will find it difficult to go back to Balise. Hope they can improve. read more

Honestly the whole business of car-buying is incredibly intimidating to me.
