Two years later - this is still my favorite Barbershop in all of Charlotte. This is no exaggeration. We actually ended up taking a break from visiting due to how far our travel was for this place. So we tried many - make that several barbershops that were closer to home. And every time we would leave one - my son would be complaining. They scratched him, they grabbed his head to hard or something. And he's only 7 now - but he should still be treated with the same respect that any other customer would be treated with. So after months of him begging, I finally took him back and he was the happiest kid I had seen in a long time. His hair is fresh again. We actually didn't see Danny because man was his schedule booked for the times we wanted. I tried to get in with Leon too but he was booked up. (These guys are popular - and understandably for a good reason.) Luckily, I was able to get in with another barber and he still did a good job with my son. Extremely disappointed after being cancelled 4 times for various excuses by Danny the owner. He made no attempt to reschedule when he returned. It was left up to me to reschedule with between a 1 and 2 week wait. I even attempted to have another barber in his shop to cut my hair since it needed it after all the cancellations, but he cancelled that appointment since I did message him that I was disappointed and would probably look elsewhere. read more

Jim Rizzo cut my husband's hair for our wedding & it was amazing!!! He cut his hair exactly like we wanted it and my husband was really happy with the cut!! The next time we went, Zack Myers cut his hair because Jim Rizzo was booked out & even though the cut was good, Zack didn't ask my husband how much he wanted off the top and ended up cutting his hair way too short. He also angled the fade towards the top inward instead of straight up and it looked pretty silly. For the $30 (military discount) cut, he was pretty disappointed the second time, but we still recommend this barbershop!!! Here is my experience with Ballantyne Barber. In a nutshell, I'll never go back to this place. First haircut appointment - Had my haircut by Jim Rizzo, he did an okay job and was nice. He didn't seemed thrilled that I showed up wearing a baseball cap and during our conversations mentioned that a lot of old school Barber's in the Fort Mill area hate it when people show up with a hat. Not sure what the big deal is, since I've done this a ton of times in the past at other Barbershops. All they've had to do is squirt water in my hair and comb it back. Although I wasn't thrilled, Jim was nice enough and did a decent enough job to try them again. Second haircut appointment - Jim wasn't working the day I decided to get my haircut, so I decided to schedule an appointment with Dusty. I was kind of surprised to receive a text from Dusty saying: "Good morning letting customers know cash tips preferred please Thanks..." I personally didn't care for this text. Tips are optional and are only given if you do a good job. I don't mind tipping Barber's. Typically I'll leave them with $5-$10 if they do a good job. But, Dusty was definitely bold to send out this message and assume he would receive a tip. I canceled the appointment as a result. See pictures for the text I received. Third haircut appointment - I got my haircut with Jim and he cut me up. Nicked the back of my ear right at the beginning and didn't do anything about it until I pointed it out. Once I did point it out he tried to act surprised as if he didn't notice. Then after the haircut I felt a burning sensation on the back of my neck. His hands were way to heavy with the clippers and cut my neck while shaping up the back. Take a look at the pictures. I should've taken the picture right away instead of two days later. But you can definitely see that it's still irritated and scabbing up. The worst thing is I picked up on something being wrong when one of Jim's co-workers walked behind the chair and looked at him kind of in shock that my neck was so red (I didn't notice the neck at this point and put this together after the haricut), then Jim looked at him and laughed about it. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! $30 for someone who doesn't know how to handle clippers! Pros: Accept and stick to appointments Overall they were nice Cons: Expensive Jim doesn't know how to handle the clippers Assume they'll get tips My advice: Don't waste your time. Doug ... Doug is my savior from the Great Clips and Super Cuts of the world. I'm not looking for a "salon experience". I just need a great haircut with some unpretentious company. THIS is the place. All of the barbers are here to give quality service and am impeccable haircut. Very welcoming and there's no "good 'ol boy" feel to the place. Noobs are welcome with a smile and if you've been here before, you can bet they'll recognize your face. I booked with Doug due to a last minute need for a serious haircut prior to flying out of town. He opened up his afternoon for me and was very accommodating. When I walked out, I actually took a pic and sent it to my buddies in Boston, just so they knew where the REAL haircuts were coming from now! I can't say enough about the quality of this shop. This was my first visit to Ballantyne Barbershop (BB) but not my first HC with Dusty B. I was quite disappointed when I heard that Dusty was leaving the B@B as it was close to home, making it convenient and had a trusted barber. I was pleasantly surprised with his new location at BB! A larger shop in a smaller shopping center with plenty of parking and none of the congestion of his last location. The shop is bright, fresh, has great flat screens strategically placed and plenty of seating. You can book your appointment from your smart device. And there are none of the irritating "ringing phones" of Dusty's last location. Just friendly barbers, pleasant conversation and......Dusty to give me a trim! And only a couple of miles from the other place so give Dusty and the Ballantyne Barbershop a try! read more

One thing that I hate about moving to a new town is finding a new place it get your haircut. We've all gotten a bad haircut; you have to live with the consequences until your hair looks normal again. I try not to go to the chains and unisex hair salons but look for old style barbershops. I got my hair cut by Doug Pagani at Ballantyne Barbers. Great cut. Doug is a nice gent from Boston with over 40 years of barber experience. He took time to listen to what I wanted and proceeded to deliver a great cut that wasn't too short and finished with a hot towel, hot shaving cream and a razor to the back of my neck and to my side burns. Doug knows what he's doing; he's old school and will take the time to cut your hair right. They recommend appointments; I recommend it, especially if you want a specific Barber. Be sure you ask for David and be ready to talk about Boston sports. You won't regret it. read more

I came here today after booking an appointment on Yelp, only waited a minute while Tee tidied up the space. Best haircut and beard trim I've ever had. Haircut looks super cool, they took a straight razor to the neck line after, along with a hot towel that was just fucking AWESOME/ relaxing. My beard looks JUST like all the photos I'd been double-tapping on IG and screen-shotting right before I walked in. I just told Tee the look I wanted and he delivered. #The coolest part was I was able to knock it out on my lunch break, none of the employees were goofing off or wasting time. Place is really bad. Made me feel less important because I was a walk in. I was told they didn't have time to finish my haircut because she had an appointment coming in. So she didn't have time to cut the top. The haircut itself was horrible. Paid extra $10 for beard trim that I'm going to have to have shave off when I get home. I took my teenage sons to 3 other local "barbershops" before finding my gem Leon. All the other places in Ballantyne were men's grooming places - my boys can't grow full beards yet, so it's nice they cater to men clientele but they're not quite there yet :/ I also was never really impressed with any of the girls in the shops with their cuts. Stray long hairs, crooked lines, or just plain cuts we didn't ask for. And teenage boys are PICKY about their hair! Ugh! Ok now for Ballantyne Barbershop. It's super clean, very close-by my neighborhood, all of the barbers I've watched are very good. TVs on channels the male clientele would appreciate. Reasonably priced cuts. They also use a very convenient app for booking appointments. My only issue is I would love to see even an hour later on weeknights - thus the 4 stars, but really should be 4.5. I love that Leon does exactly what my boys ask for, explain how to style it (cuz they don't listen to their mother about hair products!), doesn't make them feel like little children and speaks to them like mature young adults when engaging them. I know that sounds goofy, but think about how much time you spend in a salon chair - wouldn't you prefer to have intelligent conversations that are relevant to you, or would you rather be told you're adorable and talked down to? read more

The barbershop is like no other I have been to, they allow you to book your appointment online which is so convenient. The facility is very clean, modern and classy. Just got my first haircut at this great new barbershop in Ballantyne. I followed my barber, T, from another barbershop but I would come here for a haircut from Danny as well. You will get a great haircut for the money and the setting is great. Nice seating area and large TV's playing ESPN. But what really is exceptional is T and Danny's attitude . Quick Story: about a year ago, while I was getting a hair cut at their old place, a young man with special needs entered the shop to talk to the guys. As a parent it really touched me to watch the way Danny treated this person with the utmost respect and genuine kindness. I try to buy services and goods from deserving kind people.
